Wayhay- and we're off - 2 December babies! Smile BIG CONGRATS to honeybunny and Nimme and a big welcome to the world for your little pink bundles. I agree, lovely names.

Nimme, I can hardly believe that you had your baby at the weekend, exactly as you planned as 'ideal' last week! Maybe I should start believing mine will actually come, mind over matter etc.

Had my sweep yesterday, nothing happening though. It didn't even really hurt when she did it though so either my pain threshold is high or she didn't do it viciously enough. The head is still not engaged, in fact the midwife said it is really high. I am starting to get worried that my pelvis isn't big enough for it to fit through or something as there is loads of pressure on my pelvis (agony to stand up from lying down). Am booked in for induction next week, so if all else fails I only have a week to wait now. I am back on all the labour inducing tactics in earnest after a day off at the weekend, I really want to avoid being induced. If I didn't feel so fat and unwell now I would be able to enjoy it more, but I have big swollen hands so can't even carry on my Christmas crafts or do the housework. Videos it is then (whilst leaning forward to see if this head will engage...)

Georginars, where are you m'dear? Hopefully not hearing from you since Friday means you will come to us soon with news of another December addition!

PotPourri · 07/12/2004 10:57

In all the excitement I forgot to welcome Mosschops to the thread. Hope you are doing well, and we look forward to either hearing of a new arrival or sharing in the frustrations of these last few weeks Smile

RonnieTinselBaby · 07/12/2004 13:22

NIMME - well girl - CONGRATULATIONS to your and yours Grin

Hope all is well.

hana · 07/12/2004 17:12

just checking in......but no more news....
2 girls so far......!!

How are you doing Nimmee and HOneybunny (duh, far too busy to be checking out Mumsnet!)
Lots of luck for Georginars, PP. Mini and Fortnight.......looking forward to hearing your news!

Nimme · 07/12/2004 19:09

No not too busy to keep an eye on the rest of you - my Mum is here which is great. DD is quite fragile at the moment - hopeful nothing loads of attention can't solve.

First outing today - nice to have some fresh air.

Can recommend Arnica - been taking 30c for a couple of weeks and don't seem too bad down there.

Potpourri - sympathise with swollen bits and bobs. My pelvis was quite sore at the end and vericose veins in unsightly places (they say they will go)

Breasts getting sore as she likes to suck a lot and no milk yet - tonight I think and hope. However just discovered she will take a dummy - I am very happy.

Anyway - off to apply some more nipple cream on.

Good luck to you all.

RonnieTinselBaby · 07/12/2004 22:29

Nimme - good to hear from you.

scubamum2b · 08/12/2004 11:12

many congrats nimme & honeyB.

Not even being in a room of over 20 babies for a few hours the other day got things moving. Even the crying didn't result in milky boobs! Is it only newborns, are 4wks plus too old?

Been making the most especially as DH as not had to go into work much in the last week - out last Saturday, Monday night, cinema yesterday

redshoedreindeer · 08/12/2004 19:42

Well, I tried sniffing my newborn next-door twins, and gave them a good cuddle, but - nothing!
Hmphh Scubamum, Envy my dh is working even harder than ever and I am sooo fed up with never seeing him. Got my 'made in water' inflatable pool today and gagging to set it up, but too tired and he is working AGAIN. I even spent hours in Homebase working out which hose connectors etc to buy Sad.

PotPourri · 08/12/2004 20:18

Well, I have been on form today with the labour inducing ideas. I have walked all the way to the day assessment clinic (a couple of miles), eaten a whole pineapple, and had curry for lunch, and black bean sauce for dinner (apparently another Mumsnetter's sister swears by that), cuddled a newborn at my antenatal meet up, rubbed in clary sage, bounced on my birth ball, taken a caullophyllum tablet (they arrived this morning). The baby's head is still not engaged and is still very high. Apparently it is back to back, so I need to lean forward ALL the time. My pulse and hte baby's pulse are really high, but given I will be induced next week not worth doing blood tests. But I can go in again on Friday for another sweep. A friend is also sending me details of a pregnancy reflexologist - might try that if nothing happens tomorrow! The only things that I am aware of that I have not tried are nipple tweaking & castor oil. Any other additions to the list, please bring them on! Grin

Hopefully I will not talk to you too soon as I will maybe be in labour/cuddling my own newborn over the next couple of days (Smile a girl can dream eh?)

Actually I have had some goo (possibly a show, possibly wishful thinking) and have been frequenting the loo 3-4 times a day (could be the pineapple and curry though) - so maybe, just maybe my time has come......

BeachedWhale · 08/12/2004 20:20

Well, just back from 24hours in hospital after a false start. Went to antenatal yesterday and while I waited for 2 hours to be seen, DB obviously got bored and I started to have contractions every 5 mins. Felt a bit stupid telling the doc as not too sure exactly whether they were contractions but I didn't want to get all the way home only to have to go back in again. Anyway, ended up on a monitor in the delivery suite for 5 hours having regular contractions until they stopped as suddenly as they arrived so I was shipped off to the ward for the night.
Have at least had a dummy run but will now have to replenish labour bag having scoffed all the food I packed, in the night. A hungry sleepless night and a vicious internal exam have left me feeling like I been run over by a truck and to top it all, I missed DS's first nativity play this morning Sadso feeling a bit sorry for myself!
Hope you are all well especially those due or overdue now.

PotPourri · 08/12/2004 20:25

Oh forgot to add, and had my reaspberry leaf tea, and will persuade DH to do the business tonight.

Do I sound completely mad?

PotPourri · 08/12/2004 20:37

What a bummer Beachedwhale! Are you relieved or disappointed? LOL at scoffing all the food you had packed Grin

RonnieTinselBaby · 08/12/2004 20:38

PP - no you dont, I have tried loads even thou I still have 9 days to go.

BW - what a nightmare for you, {{hugs}}

hana · 08/12/2004 21:24

pp - I can't believe all that you have tried and nothing yet!!
BW - poor you Sad Def replenish your hospital bag of course!!

I saw midwife today and she was already talking about coming in on 5 Jan to talk about induction.......that seems so far away. Not engaged and she said the baby is smaller than dd was (how can they tell this?? - she said about 7lbs) - and that it will slip out really easily. Again, how does she know?!?!?! If only....! Can I sue if not?!?!

And Nimme....I too have unsightly veins or vein there too. Completely depressed about it, will I ever be the same? Sigh. Hows little Josephine?

georginatheRednoSedreindeer · 08/12/2004 22:39

Hi everyone and congrats to Nimme and honeybunny!

Well, our baby girl (I was right!) arrived yesterday at 953pm weighing a frankly horrendous 9lbs 14 ozs. I was kept in at my appointment on monday due to high blood pressure and given Prostin on Monday night - did nothing - and Tuesday morning. whereupon the whole thing kicked off scarily fast around lunchtime - contractions every 3 mins to start with and no let up. Basically, it went so fast (5 cms to pushing in about 1 hour) that the only pain relief I had was gas and air - the TENS was useless as no build up - and they wouldn't give me anything at the end as they thought I'd push her out in half an hour, not realising her size! pushing took ages, I couldn't have done any more and worked any harder (even the midwives said this), and finally got her out with an episitomy, she had to be rushed off and given oxygen etc. which was scary, but she was fine. Sorry, am still completely over excited and had no sleep last night so quite hyper! Anyway, she is called Isolda Tui and she's absolutely gorgeous! we came home this aftenoon thank goodness, postnatal ward v. crowded and definitely not for us.
Hope it happens for you all soon! - and it's not quite as horrendous as it was for me - not what I expected at all. however, if they had given me the epidural I was screaming for I'd never have pushed her out and would have had a C-section - exactly what heppened to my NCT friend who I met in postnatal. It was quite an experience though!

lilymum · 08/12/2004 22:43

Hooray georginars!! What a birth story! Sorry it was so very unpleasant, but how lovely for you to be holding your daughter at long long last, and what a beautiful name. Very impressive size!! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

lilymum · 08/12/2004 22:45

PP - just read all your efforts to get baby moving, and don't think I've laughed so much all day! REALLY hope things get moving for you soon, you deserve a medal for effort.

Canadianmom · 09/12/2004 04:03

Hello all!
Congrats to Bunny2, Nimme and Honeybunny.
I can't wait to read all of your stories especially you, Hana. I haven't posted in months but I think of you often!

hana · 09/12/2004 09:27

georginars, have left you a msg on Isolda's birth announcement.....and its another girl for December!!! Grin

canadianmom - thanks.....not long to go now. Haven't seen you posting lately, hope you've been ok. Have a lovely Christmas!
hana

Nimme · 09/12/2004 12:02

Georgina - many congratulations. Sounds like a toughy - but another beautiful girl.

Hana - veins will go or so they tell me. Have already shrunk substantially. I still look about 5 months pg though. Funnily enough I don't actually care much at the moment.

Potpourri - I hope all your efforts get you there today (I bet that's where you are right now?)

Beachedwhale - hope you are feeling better by now, perhaps you're back in for real this time?

Warning: bragging coming up - Josephine slept 6 hours last night Smile. I'm ecstatic. Night before did a mega screamer. Mum tells me it's chocolate. Apparently in Denmark, Sweden and Germany they tell breastfeeding mums to stay away from chocolate. I feel cruelly cheated but small price to pay for peace and 6 hour nights (that obviously won't happen again for another 3 months [smile})

Good luck and labour vibes to the rest of you.

lilymum · 09/12/2004 12:24

beachedwhale - any more happening today? Good luck, as it sounds like it could fairly imminent!

hana - I really wish midwives wouldn't make predictions, as they either get your hopes up or dash them, and anyway they can't possibly know for sure.

PP - feeling anything today??

RonnieTinselBaby · 09/12/2004 12:48

georginatheRednoSedreindeer - many congrats

BeachedWhale · 09/12/2004 13:21

Hi Everyone
No more happenings to report although I've a feeling that all the rumblings on Tuesday could possibly have been the head engaging. Suddenly walking like John Wayne today.Things are definitely moving in a downward direction at last.

PP - how are you today? Hope things are on the move.

PotPourri · 09/12/2004 16:19

Still here chicks. Sad

Georginars - CONGRATS!!! So pleased for you, and although it sounds like a bit of a nightmare, it's great news that little Isolda arrived safe and sound. Big babies are meant to sleep better you know, as they have a bigger stomach, so can go longer without getting hungry. So hopefully all your hard work delivering will pay off in blissful nights!

Nimme, your little Josephine is truly and angel. Long may it continue! (Not impressed with the chocolate theory, but as you say, if it works.....) I must get as much as possible in me before mine arrives then!

Canadianmom, hope you are well. I often think of you, and thanks for the kind wishes to us all.

BW - great news. Hopefully one thing will trigger the next and you will be on your way very soon.

Three girls so far in December (plus Janos' early arrival of little Adam). It's getting well exciting now. Someone should start a December 04 post-natal thread soon, now that we are building up quite a large membership!!

georginatheRednoSedreindeer · 10/12/2004 10:53

Hi eveyone
Now I've calmed down a bit! - just posted on the birth announcements to say thanks to everyone, and the same here.
Also wanted to say while I get the chance, good luck to everyone! Especially PotPourri, so impressed with all your efforts (I was too lazy to bother with anything except curry!) - hopefully they will pay off very soon and you'll have that baby in your arms. Enjoy West Mid - really it was pretty good and I was happy with it.
