Hi everyone,

just to update you all - I had a boy!! James born 16.2.08

my waters had broken on Valentines day but no sign of labour so went in on Sat to be induced. actually by then I was getting brief ctx so they did put me on syntocinon but didn't need to turn it up too much before labour came on good and proper! wow that was an intense experience. annoyingly though I had to be on the monitor all the time which restricted my movements a bit (was planning on doing the whole active birth thing!)

it was quite a short labour but in consequence I did get 2 nasty tears and spent ages being stitched up!

still James is v beautiful and i love him to bits. this bf business is not easy though I can tell you.

lol at peoples stories of getting back into pre pg clothes. I am still massive!! Am planning on doing lots of country walks with LO once the weather improves and I start to get a bit of fitnes back!

tyaca · 20/02/2008 23:31

very many congrats to widget and Sally

Sally - i love the name james, my nephew is a james so cant rob it! glad it was short - pah to an active birth, its what i reckon i want, which is crazy cause i am the most inactive person ever. hope you have a lovely first few days back at home with your new son,

widget - first off thanks to your dp/h for keeping us in touch... my DH has offered to do the same when my time comes, but only on the condition that he can start any posting with the phrase "yo! milfs!" .... do pass on our regards widgetdad. hope mum and daughter recover quickly and are home soon. sounds like a really tough few days.. bethan is gorgeous. congrats!

Hi everyone

Congratulations to the new arrivals. Will post more later but a friend of mine has a Kimmer Cotton Padded Pouch sling for sale, (second one down on here in a medium size. She just wants £8 inc P&P. If anyone is interested just either let me know on here or e-mail me at sproutingbean at hotmail dot com. It is in that cream/off white organic cotton colour. It's really comfy but I am a short-ar$e and it's a bit big for me.

Will be back later!

mutha2beagain · 21/02/2008 08:19

Congratulations Widget and Sally - hope you are enjoying your babes.

Widget your labour was going some ... hope you are getting all the TLC in hospital that you've earned in that delivery room and everyone is treating you like a queen!

Is anyone post CS having trouble wearing normal clothes? I only want the comfy stuff eg leggings etc and much as I hate to admit, my maternity denim skirt is also pretty comfy although I am sick of the sight of it.

Getting used to the 2 cup increase in boobs. When all is done and dusted with the breastfeeding might even consider a boob job as I won't be feeding any more LO's after this one. Depends how badly deflated they get when the job is finally done.

Have a good day everyone..I'm back to pick up all the overnight baby detritus and try and tidy the house - school run mum coming for coffee this morning and I have to try to keep up appearances!!

xx

lailasmum · 21/02/2008 09:10

HI all, congratulations on all the new arrivals. No such luck for me am 41weeks today, though my DD was 10 days overdue so its only to be expected. Kind of feels like babe has moved in permanently and it will never end. Have been trying to do loads of active things to sort of get things moving-laying a patio and going on long walks with all the good weather but its just not happening.

Today am going to clean the dishwasher and do some more patio so who knows all the bending and lifting might help.

Am also getting loads of texts from people asking has he arrived yet which is winding me up a bit.

bovrilsarnies · 21/02/2008 09:33

Hi everyone,

Hi Newbies,

Congrats Widget and Sally!!!

Wow Widget - sounds like you had a helluvatime!! But pic of Bethan is soooo cute!!

Sally - Ouch ref 2 bad tears!! but congrats on the short labour!!

Tiz my Due Date today......... Happy due date to me....... Happy due date to me.......happy due date to meeeeeee........ Happy due date to me!

I have been patient - need to keep that up I spose as only 4% of babies are born on their due date - Have any of our Feb babies managed it so far?

Just looking at my notes - I have seen a health professional 16 times since beginning of Jan!! hate to think how much money I have paid into the hospital car park machine!!! Still, the Maternity unit seems like a familiar place now, which makes it a little less scary.

(have been back and forth to the hospital about twice a week to be monitorred due to pressure in the cord and baby on the large size.)

When I was there yesterday they attempted a stretch and sweep - hurt a lot by the way!! But the docs are keen to get things started as soon as poss without resorting to induction. So am booked to have another try Saturday.

CountTo10 · 21/02/2008 09:55

Morning all!! More babies hatching - hope mums and bubbers are recovering well.

I feel a lot better than I have done the past couple of days. Have had a better nights sleep though!! Think I need to be more realistic about the fact that ds2 is only 3 weeks old bless him and I can't expect to be able to have a perfectly organised and tidy home, routine etc etc!!! So I give in and am sat in my pj's drinking tea and watching jeremy kyle while ds1 is at nursery!! Ds2 is asleep for now and I shall make the most of it!!! I do need to make dp do more around the place though I think.....I need to write another list and stick it on the fridge - a nice welcome home for him!!!

On the bf issues, I'm actually a lot more comfortable this time round in public. I just pop a blanket over my shoulder and make sure I'm wearing something that I can do it comfortably in and not show half my flab off as the same time!! My boobs are also a lot bigger this time round but as far as I know they will stay big for as long as you bf. They do settle down a bit after the milk comes in but they just carry on producing as long as you bf. To be honest, for me the worst bit is when you stop and then they end up all small and spongey!!!

Now, not that I'm about to start some gruelling schedule cause I'm just too lazy (!!!) but when is it ok to do gentleish exercise, like aerobics videos etc? And has anyone attempted sex yet????

LOVEMYMUM · 21/02/2008 12:05

Congratulations Widget and Sally. I think i may be the last one to give birth (due 28 Feb).

Hi Count. The people on Jeremy Kyle are interesting aren't they?! Give in and rest as much as you can. Do you feel better for having a sit down?

Check with midwife or health visitor before you start any exercise (esp if you've had a c-section).

Mutha - you may be more comfortable in maternity clothes cos not only does it take longer for your body to recover after a c-section, but you also have a scar and skin and muscle that needs to heal. Just give it time.

pobletsmum · 21/02/2008 12:54

Congratulations to Sally and widget (thanks for update widgetsdaddy)!

Have been to hosp today, and got date for induction - next week. I hope not to need it though. I'm still getting the odd twinge, so I'm bouncing madly on my ball, eating lots of pineapple etc. (will clear out my digestive system if nothing else!). MW visiting again tomorrow in the hope that baby's head is engaged enough to do a sweep. Fingers crossed.

leesmum · 21/02/2008 13:31

congratulations to widget and sally hope you are both enjoying your new babies

Count i can't stand jeremy vile i think i'd rather watch cbeebies all day how's your boys doing? Ds1 is doing ok with baby apart from wanting to touch his eyes all the time!
And yes we had a quick play last sat, i was lucky to have no stitches so it was ok and i think you are relieved to get the first one over and done with! Allthough with having to use condoms and Ds2 making little noises and grunts at the bottom of the bed it wasn't exactly romantic

Bovril happy due date and here's hoping you have lo before sat x

Pobletsmum what date have you been given for induction? Try going out for brisk walk

Lovemymum do you think you or any of the other ladies might have a leap-year baby and would it bother you if you did?

Mutha never mind a boob job i think i'll need a tummy tuck, arse lift and anything else thats going!!! Actually i weighed myself this morning and i've lost 1 stone must be the breastfeeding and a long walk everyday with the boys.

Tyaca you can have James if you want, my cousin and i also have the same name and surname and its never been a problem x

mutha2beagain · 21/02/2008 14:40

Leesmum - great news about the weight loss - isn't BF just about the best diet you've ever been on? Certainly works for me! And I also love the passive exercise element of one's uterus contracting with successive feeds. How bloody clever is that, if a tiny bit uncomfortable.

Hope for those of you BDD this isn't another dragging day. Sounds like all of you are very diligently trying to chivvy these LO's along. Well done.

Got parents and brother for dinner tonight so off to chop up some veg and try and get prepped before LO wants his megafeeds.

xxx

mutha2beagain · 21/02/2008 14:41

Oops sorry meant to say Congratulations to Sally. James is such a lovely boy's name and was definitely on our shortlist. A real classic name that always leaves a strong impression!

SireeDubs · 21/02/2008 15:22

Wow, things move pretty fast around here! Great to hear everyone's news of births and settling into non-pregnant life again.
I find I've become so obsessed with the birth and being (now 13 days) overdue, that I've almost forgotten there's a baby at the end of this!
I report to hospital at 9am tomorrow for induction. However, am determined to consider options, ie if they say I'm nearly there by myself (unlikely though I feel), I'll wait. More likely is that the 'fu*k, just get it out now' feeling will override and I'll just go through with it. Am very uneasy about hospitals though, so will be wishing every second away until I get home with Dubs Jnr.
Is the score with induction that they'll try with just pessaries/gel, and go on to a drip only if they don't work? I hate the thought of being movement restricted like I was with ds1, especially with SPD where it's actually more comfortable to stand.
I'm such a moaning minnie , sorry. Now attempting to focus on contents of hospital bags, staggering round the block with dogs and the fact that very soon I'll have a new baby at home.

Here's to a smooth induction and hoping no section (dh away with work in India in 1-2 weeks so need to be mobile!!!).

Good luck to all imminent mums.

SireeDubs · 21/02/2008 15:30

whoops, didn't mean to post twice - hopefully pregnant brain will also soon be thing of past.....

rozzyraspberry · 21/02/2008 16:03

Sireedubs - pregnancy brain turns into baby brain I'm afraid .

Congratulations to the new mummies and good luck to those of you still waiting.

Pretty knackered here. Lo can't seem to settle himself except at the breast so he's feeding a lot. Luckily my nipples are recovering from the initial weeks soreness so the constant feeding isn't as unpleasant as it might have been otherwise.

Take Care all.

tyaca · 21/02/2008 17:39

achem! patio laying???? lailasmum are you crazy? i couldnt lay one slab pre-preg. and its freezing.... i am at once shocked and in awe. i too am having an influx of mails and messages, i know some finding it annoying but i really like. perhaps i'll change my mind in a fortnight when i'm coming up to 42wks and going spare

mutha2beagain, i'm def getting a boob job once i've popped baby number two out. going to start saving next year (ie when i have cleared debts ). i never had a nice tummy, leesmum, so reckon i can give tummy tuck a miss... cant miss what you've never known ... was mistaken for preg quite a bit before i was... even when i was my skinniest 19yo self.

happy DD bovrilsarnies. good question re whether any of us have hit our due date. anyone know this??

personally, i am more of a matthew wright girl than a jeremy kyle one. i look forward to spending more time adressing this and other important daytime tv discussions in the coming months. countto10 - v nice to hear such a happy sounding post-baby post.

sireedubs - cant you nail your dh to the skirting board to prevent the india work trip?? i think i would be working out as many possible devious tactics as i could. but then i am v selfish . and demanding.

nice to hear from you bean and rozzer.

verrr lazy day here/ lots of sleeping. had a play about with the pram and dont resent it as much as i did at first. ach, what am i talking about? i secretly quite like my fancypants pram. still have no idea what i'm going to do about getting it in and out of the flats. i reckon i will have to put pram in lift and carry baby down and meet at the bottom. DH keeps on at me to sort out my claustrophobia - and he's right as DO NOT want to pass it on to my LO.... but i swear the lift in our block is this tiny tiny metal thing. there is an emergency phone number that starts with the old london code 01!

loobyt · 21/02/2008 18:25

Just noticed brovilsarnies due date question, amazingly our LO was born on his due date. we had a dating scan @ 8 weeks so maybe this was more acurate than we thought!

Re: matthew wright vs jeremy kyle, i watch matthew in the morning and the repeat of jeremy in the afternoon on itv2 (usually in bed before my afternoon nap!)

talking of sleep, does anyone have any tips on getting lo to sleep as much as poss through the night? i'm feeding every 2 hours or so through the night. guess this will get better with time, will have to be more patient!!

widgetsmummy · 21/02/2008 19:02

Hey all,

Just to say the Widget family are home safe and sound. Will post birth story soon.

Another pic of Bethan Grace is here.

omy · 21/02/2008 19:05

Widgetsmummy & daddy well done!!! what a gorgeous picture and name

Sally - congratulations on the birth of James

Good luck Bessie! And Sirreedubs if you go through with it tomorrow.

Tyaca - I have the emma jane bra in black - the least horrid one. Also splashed out on a gorgeous Elle Mcpherson bra for special occasions but it doesn't give as much support. After stopping BF I went back down to a B (as normal) from an E when BF - but I have to warn you in all honesty that they do go like empty sacks for about a year after BF before the fat comes back! I never wanted a boob job but I'd love a tummy tuck if I the money - don;t like the thought of the pain though! - and I would probably just undo the work by overeating anyway!

PK - where ARE you? Hope you are OK xx

LOVEMYMUM · 21/02/2008 19:20

Hi Widget. Lovely wedding photo and adorable baby.

Really not bothered about having a leap-year baby. As long as she comes out healthy that's my main concern. Not sure which day we would pick for her birthday though!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 21/02/2008 20:45

Congrats to the new arrivals, Pics are gorge!!!

Hope everyone is well,

i am having crap day!!!1 i fell down a step earlier today- whilst holding DD-(2 weeks today) Managed to save her from being hurt buti have cut both my knees and brused my chest, and it hurts!!

Feeling rather silly0- just lost my footing!!!!

on weight scales i have lost 8lb since the birth so thats good!!! back into my jeans which is great!!!

Anyway enough about me,

off for a bath, speak to you all soon- good luck everyone still waiting and those booked in for induction,

readytopop · 21/02/2008 22:35

congrats to all the new babbas, how exciting!

Good luck sireedubs, I hope it all goes ok.

I hate to admit it mymissus, but my dd is still known by her bump name 2yrs on. her proper name is lovely, and she is now beginning to get the idea that it might belong to her, but within the family the poor love is stuck with it...I might as well have put it on her birth certificate, as it really would be perfectly acceptable as a 1st name. It's also easier for ds to pronounce...

lol at the b/f bra talk, with my current size (32G) there isn't a lot of choice- functional or very functional!

Anyone hear the discussion on jeremy vine (R2) earlier today about b/f and weight charts? was listening and about ready to go kiss my HV, she's always taken one look at my 2 (both 25th centile) and said to ignore the chart, they're fine!

Good luck to anyone who is still waiting, and for all the ones already here.

Egg · 22/02/2008 07:39

Big congrats to widget and sally and hopefully I haven't missed anyone. Can't believe Feb is drawing to an end.

Sorry been a bit quiet for a few days, had family here on Tues and Weds for DS1's bday and life was manic. Was so tired yesterday I just had to sleep whenever I got the opportunity. DS1 had a great birthday though, and way too many presents. Makes me glad we have two more little rugrats ready to use them all in a year or two!

Hope everyone is well, have not really read all posts but good luck to those of you being induced / already in labour etc, and welcome to the two new ladies as well . It's never too late to join us!

mymissus · 22/02/2008 07:52

Hi guys
Thanks for all the messages re Digby's name - they made me laugh! We still haven't chosen another one yet although have a few more to choose from.

I'm really really miserable today - I just can't get to grips with the breast feeding. It is getting more and more painful, although the latch seems good, I've got a good amount of milk, I've got someone helping me, and really haven't got any cause for complaint. But it is agonising pain, and lasting through the whole feeding, and worse on one side.

I am really trying to work through it and carry on but am now dreading the feeds, and when DP got home yesterday, spent the feed I did with him with tears and snot running out of me.

The lady helping me is a saint and has advised expressing for a couple of days to let my nipple(s) recover. She says from an experienced point of view that from putting her finger in his mouth that he has an extremely strong suck, and a very sharp narrow palate so that is probably causing me huge pain.

I'm not worried about him getting enough milk as am just gritting teeth and taking lots of paracetamol at mo, and carrying on through it, but I really am getting in a state now, and don't know what to do at all.

Any advice from you would be really appreciated . I have been looking on the breastfeeding pages, but I think his latch is ok, and so a lot of it isn't applicable?
