Girly · 26/01/2005 10:58

Due 1st March, but ds was 8 days early so heres hoping for a Valentine baby!

Its a girl btw!

Girly · 26/01/2005 11:00

Pidge, got your cheque and will arrange the delivery will email you with date!

oceanmama · 26/01/2005 11:21

I'm due on the 5th sweeney.

Had a growth scan yesterday - all seems well, although bub is lying in an awkward position at the moment, transverse with her feet presenting first. So, the consultant wants to see me again in 2 weeks and consider an ECV if she hasn't turned herself by then. At our 20 week scan, the sonographer was 80% sure but this time there was no mistaking that bub is a girl Just need to agree on a name now...

Also saw the midwife who specialises in gestational diabetes - she's given me a blood glucose monitor to check myself at home twice a day. So far, my results have been good

Congrats on your wedding Leogaela - it sounds beautiful...

ZoeC · 26/01/2005 11:53

March 18th - girl. Got really good view at the 20 week scan so can't see it being wrong.

Leogaela · 26/01/2005 12:22

Ooooh! Everyone seems to be having girls!!!! Pidge we had better get working at finding suitable boys names!!!

Thanks for all your congrats re the wedding! It was lovely!

i think I have made a decision today to stop working ASAP. I can't concentrate at all, not delivering anything and its really stressing me. have arranged a meeting with my boss this afternoon! is anyone esle suffering so badly with lack of concentration?

Pidge · 26/01/2005 12:50

Yes, am totally unfocussed at work at the moment! Fortunately I have just been given a brainless but rather time consuming job to do, which will take a couple of weeks. It's perfect, because it doesn't require too much intellect, but will fill my days, allowing regular mumsnet checks of course! And everyone else on the team seems pleased that they haven't got lumbered with it, so I'm doing everyone a favour!

Leogaela · 26/01/2005 12:57

sounds perfect Pidge! That's exactly what I need. I have ended up with too much responsibilty (they fired the project manager so now I am it), need to deliver loads specifications, motivate people, come up with ideas, concepts, logical solutions - that involves thinking....! I feel as if I allowing it to become a complete failure! I don't want go on maternity leave with my reputation in shreds. You know the saying - you are only as good as your last project!

misdee · 26/01/2005 12:58

dh is mean!!!

i wanted to buy a gorgeous crib in mothercare, its reduced i think, and it would fit lovely in our bedroom, and dh said no as we have a moses basket. mean mean man!!!

OP posts:
bonym · 26/01/2005 13:04

Misdee - we also already have a Moses basket but have also bought a crib (one of those bedside ones) - tell dh that you can have crib in your bedroom and keep basket downstairs - saves you having to cart it up and down all the time! Oh yes, and you can always sell it on ebay afterwards and recoup most of your money!!
I'm due 25th btw so am one of the last - hope I'm not left here on my own - might have to hijack the April thread if I am!
Anyway, midwife has just left and all is fine- she also reckons that baby is now head down which is a relief - just need to make sure she stays that way now!

misdee · 26/01/2005 13:08

bonym, wouldnt work on dh, we live in a bungalow!!

OP posts:
misdee · 26/01/2005 16:03

OP posts:
Pidge · 26/01/2005 16:36

Wow misdee - that's really exciting! You might get to meet your new dd really really soon - just imagine that.

misdee · 26/01/2005 19:35

i'm trying to imagine it, and its scaring me

just realised i am having a baby, and its gonna be soon!! until now i knew, but now its seems real IYKWIM. dh is hoping he is well enough in 3 weeks to attend the birth.

Hi from Cape Town South Africa. First baby due 10 March. Also a girl. Most pregnant women out here are seen by an OBGYN during their entire pregnancy. Midwives are almost unheard of. We have one of the highest C-section rates in the world and about 80% of my friends have gone that route. I'm hoping for as active a birth as possible, but I've been told my baby will be 9 pounds or more and the doctor is not so keen for me to deliver naturally if she's on the big side. Will have to see.
I've felt fine in the latter stages of my pregnancy. Just some general discomfort and breathlessness. Only weird thing is that I've developed a lot of moles and 'skin tag' thingies around my breasts and on my neck. Anyone else experienced this?

sweeney · 26/01/2005 22:34

i know this has been done before. munchkinsusie did it way back and was it pidge after that?
you know we've lost quite alot of marchers along the way! i wonder how they are all doing........

i'm due 13th march - but really hoping it will be early! don't know if it's boy or girl - am waiting for the surprise! misdee - i'm really jelous of you, i'm just dying to meet this baby! at the last midwife appointment baby was breech, so i'm due to have a scan at 36 weeks to check. oceanmama - i'd be interested to hear how your ECV goes if you end up having one as it's a possibility for me.

turns out it's not carpal tunnel syndrome as i've got pain up my arm as well. they think i've done something to the nerve which travels up my arm. i'm hopefully going to see a physio today to see if they can do anything. the doctor said to take the rest of the week of work if it wasn't improving so i took yesterday off - i'm just in today to get some urgent work done then i'll probably go home.

popsycal · 27/01/2005 10:09

official scan date 7th march - though it varies from 3rd-7th and I am having a surprise!

sweeney · 27/01/2005 11:50

Welcome Jambot! I live in Switzerland and we also only see the Obgyn throughout and the midwife once before the birth then during the birth there is also a midwife. The doctor has much more say here in what goes on, the midwives in the UK are much more highly trained than here, but the general approach in europe is to go for natural births - I think that this been pushed for much more by the midwives not the doctors - personally I trust the midwives much more than the doctors. The belief her is that a natural birth is better for the baby and the mum.... but if you talk to a Brazilian they think we are mad and think a c/s is much better for both. The important thing is to have a choice, so make sure that you do what you want and don't be put off a natural birth. Good luck!

Not had any new moles etc, but then again I haven't seen the sun since before I got pregnant! My sister who is in the sun a lot more got loads of new moles and brown patches on her face when she was pregnant.

I had my meeting with the midwife at the hospital yesterday to do the birht plan. One interesting tip she gave me is with preparing the perinium (have a big fear of episitomy). You can buy a balloon thing that you put up inside and pump up to stretch everything. supposed to be much more effective than massage and she says it significantly reduces the chance of tearing as well. I am off to go and try to buy one later. Not sure if they exist in the UK though, I've never heard about it before.

I also spoke to my boss about feeling stressed at work, not being able to concentrate etc... he said i can come and go as I please, stop completely if I want, work when I feel like it! He said that he wouldn't make any judgement on my work or performance while i am pregnant! I feel so much better now, decided to stay at home today but will probably go in tomorrow.

Envy you lot in the northern hemisphere. Try being 33 weeks at 35 degrees! Absolute killer. Spend most of my day walking round the house in my knickers and jumping in the pool!
DH and I are off to our ante-natal class and will be seeing a video of a "nice and easy" natural birth - according to the teacher! DH is not looking forward to this at all - will be a real eye-opener.
Also interested in what the average age of mums on this site is. I'm 35 and having my first.

misdee · 27/01/2005 16:12

i'm 24, anmd this is my 3rd.

thedame71 · 27/01/2005 17:40

Still here! Due 7th March - its a girl! Going for scan in 2 weeks as low placenta (partially over OS) so fingers crossed everyone its moved up. Don't fancy CS now after 2 natural births .... the damage has already been done if you know what I mean!

The dame x

ZoeC · 27/01/2005 19:03

I'm 30 and this is number 2
