Anyone else due in August 2005 yet?

Well, I can't believe I'm starting this thread, but very happy to be. I'm due August 1st (according to one of those online due date calculators) and ds and dd were both over a week late, so I reckon it will be an August babe. Here's hoping. Still very early days for me, and I have an early scan to get done as I had an ectopic pregnancy in March this year.

Looking forward to someone joining me.

Bloatella, so sorry to hear your news. Yes, it is very common to m/c - it seems like most of us on this thread have - but that does not make it any more fair. Take care of yourself.

Azure · 12/01/2005 14:48

By the way, with my last m/c I went to A&E and got a referral to the EPU from there. I did have to endure a 12 year-old male doctor in A&E asking patronising questions along the lines of "are you sure you're pregnant" (answer I wanted to give - "I'm 37 and this is my third pregnancy, so yes I am bl**dy well sure"). A visit to A&E may speed up a scan for you, though, if that's what you want.

blossom2 · 12/01/2005 14:51

I'm sorry Bloatella {{{{{{hug}}}}}}.

I'm feeling dizzy when i get up very quickly - something i don't normally get.

Hope everyone is okay.

dramaqueen72 · 12/01/2005 16:49

just calling in to say, its bad news for me, looks like another missed m/c for me. scan reveled ting sac, too small for my dates with no heartbeat. have to wait a week for a rescan, but then, most likely, a d&c, i've done this before and i know it now.. absolutely shocked and scared. i wish everyone else a fabulous pg, may the rest of you make it.

Bloatella · 12/01/2005 16:54

hugs dramaqueen72 thinking of you.

beachyhead · 12/01/2005 17:06

Oh I am so sorry to hear your news - I DO know how you feel and its not good..... I hope they can rush the other scan through quickly and the D&C, so you can start to look forward. Can you try and plan a r & r weekend somewhere to give yourself a treat? and have a big glass of wine or two on me..

Cyber hugs to you and your dh/dp......

blossom2 · 12/01/2005 17:17

Azure · 13/01/2005 11:24

TeaTime - how are you getting on? I think your midwife visit was today?

jellybrain · 13/01/2005 11:32

Sorry to hear your news Drama Queen and Bloatella.
I am in one of those areas where there is no 12 week scan offered (oxfordshire) and my anxiety levels are tipping the scales too. Midwife was one of those glass half empty people - when I had my booking appointment she firstly took a deep breadth when I told her my age (38 BTW) and basically told me I shouldn't get my hopes up but should consider booking myself in for a Nuchal Scan, which of course is only available privately in this area. Secondly she said she wouldn't be listening for a heartbeat just in case she didn't find it and I would be worried until my next appointment!
Has anyone else had similar experiences with their midwife? I might ask around to see if there's any one friends would recommend but, don't want to do this until I've had the all clear.

Someone asked what we do apart from being pregnant mums and looking after our other kids of course I work as a coordinator for a charity which gives housing and welfare(benefits) advice to people with learning disabilities and their families previously I worked in the public Housing sector for various local authorities and Housing Associations. I'm looking at alternatives which will allow me to stay at home with new baby for longer and have just signed up to do book and toy parties. I have my first one on 28th Jan and will let you know how it goes.

Eulalia · 13/01/2005 13:32

bloatella so sorry to hear that your fears have been confirmned. Take care.

dramaqueen - sorry too...

Teatime - how are things with you.

I have my scan tomorrow and am quite nervous. Much more so than previous times. Will check in tomorrow afternoon.

Azure · 13/01/2005 13:41

Jellybrain, what miserable treatment from your midwife. "Shouldn't get your hopes up" - that's disgraceful. I'm 38 too. How many weeks are you now? I think it's shocking that some areas don't provide 12 week scans, let alone nuchal testing. How can you possibly wait until 20 weeks? Is a private scan a possibility for you? I hope you get a more sympathetic midwife next visit - when pregnant with DS I rarely got the same one twice, and it was pot luck who was there when I gave birth. I'm 8 weeks today - time is moving very slowly.

Azure · 13/01/2005 13:41

Best of luck for your scan tomorrow Eulalia.

Eulalia · 13/01/2005 13:45

Meant to say jellybrain that you midwife was out of order. I am 39 and my age doesn't seem to be an issue at all. Hope you can get something sorted out with a scan.

Thanks, I've just read your replies and feel more positive already. I'm about 12 weeks and due 5th August (provided I've got my dates right). I'm booked in for the Nuchal scan on 22nd Jan which should show everything the usual 12 week scan does. I'm still pretty incensed that I have to pay for it privately though. Is this the postcode lottery we hear so much about?!
Incidently I feel far fitter, healthier etc than I did for either of my previous pregnancies (30 &33), fingers crossed that its a good sign.

Twiga · 13/01/2005 14:47

{{{hugs}}} Bloatella and Dramaqueen, so sorry to read you sad news, all the best to you both for the future, lol x

Not going to be able to check in for a while as away on holiday in next hour - take care, catch up soon x

Azure · 13/01/2005 15:22

Twiga have a great holiday. I'm off as well, but only for the weekend. It's our 5th wedding anniversary on Saturday and DH's 40th birthday on Sunday and we're off to Rome, (whisper it) without DS. I wasn't pregnant when I booked the trip so my plans of a champagne breakfast and drinking lots of lovely red wine over delicious meals won't quite happen. Musn't grumble, though. It's all rather reminiscent of our 1st wedding anniversary when we went to Venice and I was 9 weeks pregnant. I'll be torn between seeing the sights and being able to have a lovely lie-in.
