I forgot to say about cravings:

I am not craving anything as such, but got a real taste for tomato juice in the last few days. I could literally down a whole carton of it a day if I let myself. I wonder if there is some vitamin I am missing in my diet or something.

Buckets · 29/01/2008 18:15

I told my mum I had a craving for Pret a Manger chicken and avocado sandwiches so she took me there today and bought me one! How evil am I? (I honestly do love them and will probably buy the ingredients at the weekend again.)

Carolbrad · 29/01/2008 18:47

Hi

I just wanted to wish everyone good luck for their scans on Thursday. I'm having my first one Tomorrow and I am so excited. (in a rare break in between paranoia).

Now I'm pregnant I know why my pregnant friend has paid for 3 private scans.

Has anyone had one of those 3D/4D scans you pay for?

juliewoolie · 29/01/2008 19:16

We thought about having th 3D thing with DS but decided that the expense couldnt be justified.

Have my booking appointment tom. My dp is coming with as it is the same midwife I had last time round and he wants to see the look on her face when I walk in with Archie 7mths to tell her about No.2 on its way. Then scan on Friday aarrgghh.

Lcy · 29/01/2008 19:56

Good luck with your scan Carolbrad and everyone else. It will be lovely to get past this stage!

With regards to cravings, today i ate beetroot and sweetcorn for my lunch - mixed together

TwilightSurfer · 29/01/2008 21:07

Evening ladies. What a sad bunch we are with all our sickness and paranoia. Can't think of a better group to be with right now !!

I had this long list of chores to complete today........ not one thing has been marked off. Took DD to pediatrician instead. I figured something was up when she wet her bed last night as that's not happened in AGES. She has a UTI . Now I get to figure out a creative way to get her to take meds for a week. YEAH I hate being right sometimes.

Carolbrad I'll be getting one of those 3D/4D scans. My OB/GYN's office offers them to mom's between 24 and 32 weeks. It's not cheap but should be fun. I dearly wanted to have one when pregnant with DD but the technology wasn't available "for fun" at the time. Times have changed .

Found a new baby name today and DH actually LIKES it... Spencer Bailey (for a girl). I thought of another after chatting with him... Spencer Claire. DH likes Spencer for a girl but not for a boy . Just means I'm still digging for boy names (but I don't know why as I really really feel like this is going to be a girl).

VoodooCoconut · 29/01/2008 21:25

Hi its Joan Wilder with a name change, sorry to confuse preggers ladies...

The scan went fine, didnt even really feel like I wanted the toilet.. but the scanner was fab, made the bean turn over so we got a great pic via wibbling and wobbling my belly. My bump is massive, feel like I am eating all the time, and have easily caught back the weight I lost via HG. I am sick now once every three days, always before brekkie so it is heaven. Am starting to get my energy back too, which is fabulous didnt even need a nap today hooray.
I have a revised due date due to a big bean, July 23rd now, making me 15 weeks tomorrow. That's nearly 4 months!

consultant pretended to care Id had a 3rd deg tear with dd 19 mths ago, and then said as I was not incontinent to go for a natural birth and smile. I do feel a bit chicken about a c-section, so I guess Im going to go for it...anyone else thinking that far ahead yet?

loads of love to the pukers worriers and panickers, every day that goes by is another step forward XXX

HazieAndBaby · 29/01/2008 21:27

Twilight Surfer - I've been buying t-shirts and summery tops and putting cardigans on over the top. It keeps my arms warm and wearing the cardi open means that my bump can grow out the front and doesn't give me that tight feeling round my stomach that I seem to hate right now!! Hope this helps until the warmer weather comes around x

pertelote · 29/01/2008 22:30

Evening ladies! Great to hear about scans.

Can anyone with better social skillz than me advise on the etiquette of spreading the news? I have a friend who had a couple of miscarriages last year. She hasn't said whether she's TTC again or not. I feel awful that my news might be upsetting to her but do you think it is better just to be normal around her than to treat her like china, IYSWIM? Would it be really insensitive to say 'hope you will also have good news soon' or something similar? (In a private email, I mean.)

Advice appreciated! Thanks.

TwilightSurfer · 29/01/2008 23:09

Pertelote I was in a similar situation. I emailed the briefest of emails....Subject: Guess What? Then in the body I just put: i'm pregnant Simple and small but to the point. She'll be excited for you but secretly jealous. If she's sort of stopped trying because she's depressed your news might be the thing to lift her out of her fog. My friend who miscarried last year secretly told me a few days ago she's ready to try again....which made my day.

Hazie, thanks. That's sorta what I'm doing now but it doesn't work as well when you have to go to a dressy function. It's okay though as I found a pair of Nine West knee high black boots that work nicely with an existing black suit skirt and white dress shirt (untucked of course) I have. The skirt requires being pulled up over my belly a bit but that makes it shorter....and PERFECT for knee high boots.

libbyssister · 29/01/2008 23:14

Hi pertolote. I'm really crap at this stuff and always think I'm being sensitive when I'm probably putting my foot in it.

It's not the same, but when it took me a while ttc last year I found out a couple of my friends were pregnant and it didn't upset me, I was still really pleased for them. And a bit jealous! But I don't think I showed it...

Maybe you could ask on a general or miscarriage thread what people think? Or is that putting your foot in it x 1000??

Or maybe someone else has a good idea here?

Lcy · 30/01/2008 09:11

Morning all

Pertelote - my best friend has been trying to concieve for over 5 years. I was so worried about telling her i was pregnant because it happened so quickly. Anyway i did and she really appreciated that i had told her because alot of our friends dont talk to her about their pregnancies and she feels left out. She was really pleased for me. Unfortunately i miscarried at 11 weeks and the next day she travelled over 6 hours to come and hold my hand! So like the others said she will be happy for you but also sad for herself!

Right i am off for a walk with my neighbour xx

ChaCha · 30/01/2008 10:59

Hi girls,

Was very pleased to notice Due in October thread...feels like we're getting somewhere.

I had a 3D scan with DS1 down in Harley Street, would have been fantastic i'm sure but DS1 refused to wake up (we were even told to go for a walk, have something to drink, i jumped up and down in the lift for a while too) and would not be budged whatsoever - we got a video on CD of a very sleepy baby who moved a few times and that was about it - seeing his face was lovely though.

Am eating lots of rice at the moment and grilled veg, i have been making vegetable biryani in the rice cooker with yoghurt mint sauce and really enjoying it. Anyone else eating lots of rice???

Still getting nowhere with mat clothes, have asked DH to babysit while i go out shopping at weekend, net is no good - can't choose properly.

DC both with cold and rough coughs and i've inevitably picked it up too. Feeling a bit rough but better than i have done TBH...

TWilight - Well spotted with DD - hope she's doing okay.

Talk soon x 12+3

dizzydixies · 30/01/2008 12:00

well ladies if the rumours are true we're in very good company with these pregnancies.

Angeline Jolie/brad pitt
Nicole Kidman/country dude
Jessica Alba (due early summer)/cash
Gwen Stefani/mr stefani
Tomkat?

all supposed to be due in the summer time?
thank god I don't have to stand next to them in any of the photo opportunity moments this summer!!!!
anyone going to be waiting to see their name choices for inspiration?!?! Suir, Shiloh, Pax and Kingston are certainly top of my lists

alittlebitshy · 30/01/2008 12:18

lol at "country dude".
I saw that Brangelina are "allegedly" expecting twins? Anyone know if there is any truth in this?

I dunno how these slebs manage to go out and about under public scrutiny while pg.... I feel bad enough and rough enough having skimped on my normal life.....

Dh has got a baby sitter tonight and is dragging me out to the cinema..... Worried i'll feel shitty, but is worth a go. Plus it's dd's favouritist babysitter, so i'd be public enemy number one if i stopped it happening!

dizzydixies · 30/01/2008 12:26

were they not alledgedly expecting twins last time as well?!? I can barely cope with 2 and being pregnant then again I don't have a team of nannies/cooks/cleaners/stylists and an airbrushing technician who can touch up my photos!!

alittlebitshy may I recommend my fell good cinema trick for during pregnancy - demand dh buys you ice cream/ popcorn and at least £5 worth of pic n'n mix without complaint - hey may not hurry you back mind you! remember to sit at aisle seat for least disruption wee breaks during film! lol

just remembered when pg with dd1 I used to make dh drive me to cinema (not bacause I can't drive but so he would pay) just for a pic n'n mix - I had no interest in sitting through a film!

am complete wench when pg!
right am off to tackle joy that is entertaining very tired dd2 whilst dd1 having swimming lesson - the joys!

TwilightSurfer · 30/01/2008 12:39

Oh and let's not forget Matthew McConaughey's "love child" with current girlfriend Camilia Alves is due this summer. We'll probably start hearing about loads more as we reach the more official second trimester. Celebs like to keep things on the down-low till then seems to be.

Another crazy night here. If it wasn't DD wanting in my bed, it was the wind trying to blow the house away or my husbands new cell phone which nearly gave me and my cat a heartattack at 3AM (seems he's not figured out how to set the blasted thing yet.)

Still sick! Sitting here wanting to puke....knowing as soon as my feet hit the floor things will start coming up.

Buckets · 30/01/2008 13:06

Got a scan appt for Monday yippee!
V proud of DS today (who is 3 on Sunday and has poss Aspergers traits) I went to Asda this morning with him 'loose' for the first time. Big landmark for us because I can no longer carry him when he goes on strike but he was generally v good, had a bit of a lie down near the end but we got through it. It was other people giving me evils that got me - mostly old people, one even commented! DS wasn't being naughty, just wandering off a bit and I wasn't constantly running after him (he would have run faster).

IlanaK · 30/01/2008 13:29

Well, I had my booking in appointment today. No community midwives here so had to go to the hospital (UCLH). It was a 9am appointment but I did not see the midwife until about 9:45. The kids were bouncing off the walls. They had a massive play area but no toys. When I asked why, they said people steal them. I had about 6 vials of blood taken for various tests and got my pg notes book. When I got home and read it, she had ticked off that she had discussed a whole list of tings with me - none of which had actually been discussed. I have a scan tomorow and then have to go back on MOnday to see Consultant (underactive thyroid). I HATE London hospitals!

dizzydixies · 30/01/2008 14:55

TS am sorry you're stil feeling sick, hopefully it will pass soon and one day you'll just notice its not there anymore

Do you think I should call Brangelina's people or Nicole and ask them if they want to join us on mumsnet for a rant - ooohhhhhh maybe they're already here just under a sudonom!?!?

buckets great news on scan and well done DS being is ASDA is enough to cause the onset of a tantrum at any time but I always find its the more aged who are less tolerant, remind me in a few years I want to be one of those helpful grannies not one that expects the world to owe them a living

ilanaK if you hadn't stolen all the toys with your first kids booking in apts then maybe there would have been some out for you lol - no offence intended but thats exactly how it would have been inferred at our hospital. Sorry you feel cheated out of the discussions, why not drop the lazy mare in it with consultant on Monday? Remember your own toys this time, I find something ridicliously noisey really pleases the staff on duty!

libbyssister · 30/01/2008 15:00

It's me! It's me! I'm really married to Brad Pitt...

dizzydixies · 30/01/2008 15:17

am away off to google whether or not angelina has a sister called libby

miamla · 30/01/2008 15:43

hi girls
glad to read that some are feeling better. i've wiped my smug grin off my face..had a bout of MS on Sunday. I don't think Pip wanted a cup of tea after all!
i really love our little group on here, its great that we can chat about anything and everything!
I'm looking more pregnant today than i ever have! its probably the top i'm wearing but i met my dad for lunch and his eyes almost popped out of his head when he saw a side view! i really can't wait until i'm properly showing!
re the baby on board badge for travelling on the underground. it sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't. But it was worth getting it for the few times it has worked so I def recommend.

re scans. i had a scan at 8 weeks but i'm not having another one til 20 weeks because they took my 12 week one away from me. Does this mean i won't have a nuchal scan? i keep meaning to google for an answer but its a bit tricky at work.

re clothes. Next have got some nice smock type tops that allow for a bump but look nice without a bump as well

re names. we've still only got a name for a girl. no boys' names seem to appeal. hmm we might be in a bit of a predicament in a few months time! do you reckon a boy will mind being called "Izabella"?

libbyssister · 30/01/2008 15:47

Ilana -sorry your appt was frustrating.

We have a community hospital in our (small) town which has a 3-bed maternity unit. I really wanted to go there with DS1 but ended up in the big teaching hospital in Oxford. But I did go there for a couple of days recuperation afterwards and it was great. There's a little sitting room with proper sofas and a TV and a little kitchen where you can make yourself toast and tea and keep stuff in the fridge. And all the meals are cooked just downstairs. I wanted to stay forever!

I went back there on Tues for my booking appt and really hope to have this baby there but you have to be really a straightforward case..., no epidurals, no machine monitoring, etc. Fingers crossed...

Stupid thing is, the local authority is trying to close the place down for cost reasons

CaptainCaveman · 30/01/2008 17:40

LOL miamla, I think Izabella is a great name for a boy!!

Great news too Joanwilder/Vodoococonut - (whoops nearly mis-typed coconut there into a swear word....) glad you are feeling better and that you are 15 weeks!!

Feeling exhausted this evening - work has really knacked me out today, despite not moving a great deal, just mentally challenging. Added to that my bloody work pc has died, as have 2 others in the office, means I can't access my email or my calendar. Grrrr. Still, at least I have an excuse for not getting things done!
