I think it was just because we are used to having a boy and dh's family is mostly boys. There are no girls in his generation for example! I am warming to it now though, thinking of frilly dresses and shopping expeditions I'm glad that your check was ok myermay. It's all lovely for Christmas!

Brighteyes · 22/12/2004 21:13

Congratulations on the scan Logic, glad it all went well.

Both me and dp have said from the start we didn't want to know the sex but I thought one of us would have changed our mind by today. We decided to keep it as a suprise but my instincts telling me its a boy. Just have to wait and see

Uwila · 23/12/2004 09:55

Hello, haven't been here for quite while. Nothing much to report. Just getting fatter by the hour. I'd like to blame it on the baby, but the truth is it probably has something to do with morning pastries and afternoon chocolate. Oh well. I plan for this to be my last pregnancy. So I might as well enjoy it.

Uwila · 23/12/2004 09:56

Oh, and I'm soooooooo of everyone who knows the sex.

fashill · 23/12/2004 10:59

Hi Uwila

What's the story on the sex of your little un?!?

DP and I really want to know what we're having and would be just our luck we aren't able to find out!

Uwila · 23/12/2004 13:55

Well, I don't know. It doesn't really matter. But I just wasn't born with a single ounce of patience so I just want to know. I was 16 wks when I went for my booking appointment. I gave them my nuchal scan info then, and then the midwife told me that I would have had a scan if I hadn't already had one. I shouldn't have told her about the nuchal. Just like the NHS. You do them a favour by arranging your own scan and they penalise you for it. Oh well, I'll just have to wait for the anomoly scan on 20 Jan.

fashill · 23/12/2004 14:57

oh I see!!! I've got mt 20 wk scan on Jan 12 and hope I can find out!! I'm really impaitient too!

Merry christmas everyone. Hope you all have a wonderful sober time.

Tinker · 24/12/2004 12:45

Merry Christams to you all as well. Will spend ost of mine eating Rennies I think.

Had 20 week scan this morning. Looks like Pinocchio . Did ask, and wastn't told but am sure it's a boy. Am telling myself that anyway so that I get used to idea (have hankering for another girl, have to be honest). But all is well and that's what matters. Glad everyone else's scans have been good and good luck to those waiting for their next one. Cor, halfway through now

maymum · 24/12/2004 15:04

Congratulations to all those of you who have had your scans and had healthy-looking babies! I have less than 2 weeks to go...

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

fisilhohoho · 24/12/2004 21:58

Merry Christmas everyone! Remember that we have the perfect excuse to put our feet up and be waited on hand, foot & finger!

THEnorthstar · 28/12/2004 10:21

Well hello everyone, hope you all survived the xmas experience intact? Mine was v quiet, just ate and ate and then attacked ds's selection boxes for good measure.
I have gestational diabetes and am due to see the diabetes consultant on 12th january, followed by the dietician. So, in the meantime i intend to eat all the things that they will tell me not to from that date onwards!

oliv · 29/12/2004 21:40

hello, can I join you? I'm due May 12, first baby, and only just getting used to the idea really. Am a complete novice! I've had my 20-week scan, which was exciting.

logic · 29/12/2004 22:52

hello oliv and welcome.

Hope that everyone had a really nice Christmas.

fisil · 30/12/2004 08:45

Hi all, welcome Oliv.

I think I've got SPD again. Pah! Either that or just a very sexy waddle.

Talk of sexy, a friend got me "sexy" maternity underwear. Right. You don't need me to tell you that she's childless!

SamCattie · 30/12/2004 11:33

Hi everyone, I am a complete novice to this! Just reading back on everyones messages, and its nice to hear that I am not the only one feeling fat!!! Mine is due 27th May, whcih makes me 19 weeks tomorrow. And my stomach looks more like 6 months pregnant! Everyone keeps commenting on how big I look - which isn't very nice as I am reminded everytime I get up! I have my 20 week scan next friday and I can't wait! I am definately gonna find out the sex!

logic · 30/12/2004 11:58

Hello SamCattie. I am definately putting on weight now but I'm 21 weeks pg. I really must start getting stuff ready for the baby because time is flying!

Brighteyes · 30/12/2004 12:51

Hi everyone.

Am I the only one who hasn't bought a single thing yet?

I've chosen by pram, carseat and nursery furniture but I haven't acutally bought as much as a baby vest yet.

Now I've reached the half way mark it feels like the baby will be here in no time. Really need to get more organised.

SamCattie · 30/12/2004 13:02

Well I have been really naughty! I have bought loads of stuff already. I may aswell have bought shares in Mothercare! My Mum works in a baby shop in Croydon and can get me discount on the bigger items like pram, cot, etc. Is it just me or has the last 4 months or so flown by? I can't believe it has gone so quick already!

SamCattie · 30/12/2004 13:05

Has anyone got anything planned for the alcohol free New Years Eve tomorrow?

maymum · 30/12/2004 17:45

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a good Christmas. Mine was the quietest ever, quite nice really.

Welcome to Oliv & SamCattie! SamCattie if you have shares in Mothercare, I feel like I have them in Next! I braved the Next sale on 27th (crazy woman!) - you can tell I'm feeling a lot better can't you! I spent about £40 but I do think I got a lot for my money, ranging from bodysuits to cardigans & a baby sleeping bag, in sizes from early baby (1 item, just in case) to 6-9 months (just 1 gorgeous cardi), but mostly in the middle.

Have any of you ever used the 'kiddicare' website? It sells all sorts of baby bits at prices way cheaper than I can find them anywhere else, plus free delivery. They have a shop too, in Peterborough, so DH and I went for a trip there on tuesday. It was a long day (about an hour and a half drive each way, plus ages in the shop). It just seemed easier to go somewhere where we could look at everything in one go. It worked well, because we've chosen our pushchair/car seat/carrycot (Bebe Confort Loola), cot (Global bedside) and various other items. We came away empty handed, but it feels great to have at least made a few decisions. Does anyone have any opinions about our pushchair & cot choices? It's always good to hear from those of you who have been there & done it all before...

Take care everyone, and have a great New Year. I think DH and I will be staying in - maybe boring but quite nice in some ways!

fisil · 30/12/2004 19:25

wow, maymum, kiddicare looks good. I can't believe I was within spitting distance of it on Monday and never knew it was there. I'll be in P'boro again next month, probably, so I'll go and have a little look around.

Hi Samcattie. Are you in SW London too? I think there are quite a number of us here who are. Is this your first baby?

No Brighteyes, you're not the only one to have bought nothing yet. However, we did devote yesterday to moving ds into his big boys room (to give him plenty of time to not make the connection between being shunted off upstairs and the new baby taking over his gorgeous cosy nursery right next to our room!). So we spent loads of money in Ikea on little things to make it feel homely - and he loves it (especially his lamp, which he sat up in bed and played with for 40 minutes this morning!).

But then again, all no. 2 is getting is a new cot mattress and a couple of bits and pieces to decorate the room. I leant all ds's 1st year clothes to a friend whose son was born last May. She was also loaned clothes from two mutual friends, and all three of them are swearing never to have another, so I get all my clothes back plus the pickings of the rest! So if any of you lot want any ...
