Oh god, sounds like they're all at it at once! 🤣

DH gave DS some infacol tonight and he's still vomited and the smell wasn't very nice. However, he seems calmer overall and he hasn't been straining and arching his body much. Too early to judge.

Meanwhile DH and I had an argument (predictable considering I've really had enough and am exhausted after tough few days on my own with DS) and I've just noticed discharge from my CS wound again...FFS. I finished antibiotics a week ago and it seemed fine. Now suddenly this 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm going to watch this over the weekend and call my GP on Monday if it gets worse. I have a bad feeling more antibiotics will be needed. What a drag, it's so frustrating as I'm feeling ok otherwise.

Going to try and get some sleep, it will do me good. Hope everyone's having a peaceful night Flowers xx

sarah13xx · 11/09/2021 09:07

We’ve decided to aim for an 8pm bedtime now instead of 7. Not that it matters when he’s this wee but just so we’re in a routine of it for when he eventually goes into his own room at night. We were putting him down at 7ish in his moses basket then sitting it in the kitchen with us, carrying him upstairs in it later then having to make sure we didn’t fall asleep so we could transfer him to the snuzpod at 10/11. If I make it 8pm I’m just going to put him down in the snuzpod at that point because realistically I’m rarely in bed past 8pm just now 😂 I could probably go for a bath in the next room with the door open too if DH was watching tv downstairs. Hopefully that will get him into more of a routine and stop the screaming for hours when he’s just randomly being moved from one room to another with all the lights on.

The Gina Ford book says you can either do 7pm-7am or 8pm-8am and given the choice I’d much rather get up at 8 than 7 every day when he’s eventually sleeping all night 😊

Ready2020 · 11/09/2021 10:36

@sarah13xx I get you re not moving them about at night. We try putting her to sleep from 6 as she takes so long to go down. She gets put in the bassinet down stairs then transferred up to the snuz pod around midnight or when she wakes for food. It would make sense to put her upstairs right away but we use the time for the night shift person to have a nap with no baby for distraction.

We can't have a repeat of last night so I'm going to watch for sleepy cues all day and get her to sleep ASAP!

lucyrp · 11/09/2021 11:08

@sarah13xx omg how are you managing such an early bed time 😨 we rarely are in bed before 11/12 now even tho in pregnancy I was going to bed at 8

Daffodil21 · 11/09/2021 11:45

@sarah13xx my new bed time is 9:30. It's sooo good 😂

RandomCatGenerator · 11/09/2021 12:00
@sarah13xx omg how are you managing such an early bed time 😨 we rarely are in bed before 11/12 now even tho in pregnancy I was going to bed at 8
I think that’s probably a case of whether you’re happy to get up for a feed or treat that 11/midnight feed as bedtime. I’m trying to get to bed by 10 and he tends to take about an hour to settle and then want to eat at about midnight - at least I get a power nap beforehand!

RandomCatGenerator · 11/09/2021 12:01

Until he’s older - he’s not quite 4 weeks - I’m not sure we can try to enforce any form of early i.e. 6/7pm bedtime. It doesn’t feel feasible - especially as he tends to get really awake around that time!

Magik01 · 11/09/2021 12:06

I’m not sure whether Isaac has colic? The past week he’s been inconsolable in the evening between 8ish and 1am. Nothing seems to settle him and on the off chance I do get him to sleep he wakes back up within 10 minutes. Not sure how much longer I can cope with it to be honest!

Hope your scars okay @PurplePansy05 what a pain in the arse for you!

biscuitcat · 11/09/2021 12:23

Oh @PurplePansy05 what a pain with your scar, you've had such a time of it xx

We've had the worst luck, both DH and I have tested positive for covid 😫 luckily we're not very ill, I've got a sore throat and a little cough and DH is tired and has a sore chest, but poor old Rowan seems a bit under the weather - he's feeding all the time and quite grizzly. Hopefully we all feel better soon

Magik01 · 11/09/2021 12:54

Oh no @biscuitcat I hope you and your DH are okay and feeling better soon. I can’t remember if you’ve mentioned if your BF or not, but I was speaking to someone who was BFing while she had covid and she said her milk went a bluey green! Obviously full of antibodies which I found fascinating and slightly weird.

sarah13xx · 11/09/2021 13:49

@Ready2020 yeah definitely, don’t know if it was just a phase Freddie was going through where he didn’t sleep much in the day but he seems to be back to sleeping better so hopefully the screaming for hours before bed will be a thing of the past 🙈🤞🏼 It’s definitely from being overtired though but they get overtired so quickly and just refuse to go down after that!

@lucyrp oh I’m not really, just my plan 😂 He’s been screaming for hours every night until about 9ish then he usually sleeps and we just wake him for a feed at 11/11:30 but it’s like he turns into an angel at that point and I don’t want to jinx it but for weeks he’s only woken at his one allocated time during the night and nothing else! He’s just a nightmare before going to bed but I can live with that if I get a decent sleep 🙈

@Daffodil21 haha it’s so sad 😂 if I actually went to sleep about 9 I could have a decent sleep while DH does the 11pm feed but it never happens and I’m always still wide awake!

@PurplePansy05 hopefully it will get better soon and you won’t need anymore antibiotics!

@biscuitcat oh no 😞 have you worked out where you caught it from? It seems to be rife just now again! Hope you’re better soon

sarah13xx · 11/09/2021 13:54

Random thought but do those of you with a snuzpod or bedside crib have a mobile in it? We didn’t get one but not sure whether to as he gets bigger. Is it meant to entertain them if they wake up without them crying or do you take it away while they sleep? Just seem to notice everyone has one except me 🙈

Ready2020 · 11/09/2021 14:08

Goodness @biscuitcat take care of yourself.

Anyone else have a baby that just knows when you get home from a walk and wakes up just at the front door!

Not sure what's possessing me (oh I know, it's my shit job) but I'm trying to get an application together for another position at my work. Problem is I can't remember what I did in my old job 😅 So putting examples down is hard! But I really want this job so I'm trying to push through the tiredness and get it done. Even though I don't care how I've managed to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders...

biscuitcat · 11/09/2021 14:59

Thanks for all the sympathy ladies 😊 @Magik01 I am breastfeeding - I'll keep an eye out, that would look so strange! @sarah13xx we're fairly sure that DH picked it up at work and then passed it on to me, as someone he was in close contact with tested positive shortly before.

@Ready2020 rather than walks, DS has a sixth sense for mealtimes - any time we sit down to eat he decides to wake up and bawl 😫 I think he wants to eat at the same time as the rest of the family!

Ready2020 · 11/09/2021 15:07

@sarah13xx no mobile for me. I'd put one in the nursery though for when she moves in there. Don't see the point in them just now really. Even though they're cute.

sarah13xx · 11/09/2021 16:24

@Ready2020 maybe I’ll just wait til he moves into his room then, just thought I was missing something 😂

@biscuitcat ahh I see, that’s probably likely then! it’s everywhere just now it seems

Caz1226 · 11/09/2021 17:38

Quick one ladies
After labour my kidney and liver functions were not right so I stayed in hospital for a couple of days, kidney went back to normal quickly but my liver function bloods tests show a high rating still albeit it is coming down
I’ve been going back to hospital every week for repeat bloods and they are still going down but
Still not at the required level so I still have to continue to go back each week for repeat blood tests
I feel absolutely great no other symptoms or anything
Has anyone else had anything like this? Xx

RandomCatGenerator · 11/09/2021 18:34
@sarah13xx no mobile for me. I'd put one in the nursery though for when she moves in there. Don't see the point in them just now really. Even though they're cute.
Agree, same here

wimbler · 11/09/2021 20:16

@biscuitcat oh no! Getting covid is my worst nightmare with a toddler and newborn. We got an email from my toddlers gymnastics class where someone who was there this week has tested positive. My husband had a cold but thankfully tested negative. I hope you’re feeling better soon but good that it sounds like you’ve got it mildly.

Also so worried about bronchiolitis/rsv. My nephews both had it and a friends 3 month old was admitted to hospital last week with it. Apparently it’s rife at the moment.

@PurplePansy05 I hope your scar is ok. What a stroke of bad luck that it looks like it’s turned again.

@sarah13xx how did following Gina Ford go? We are trying so hard with it but it’s hard with another child and the nursery run. The last week we have spent so much time in the car. Living with my parents mean the nursery run is an hour round trip so we are in the car for 2 hours a day outside of the timings! The bedtime routine seems to be working for us though.

@Magik01 could be colic. We use infacol and it seems to be working. We give it before every feed. Those house are also prime overtiredness time. We have to get ds down by 7 to avoid that. We start bath at 6 then feed and bed and it seems to be helping. By the time they’re fussy they’re usually overtired so might be worth trying earlier?

Ready2020 · 11/09/2021 20:52

Sorry @Caz1226 not much help but hope it gets sorted.

Tonight has been much better thankfully with Rowan sleeping basically since about 3pm! She's woken for feeds and had about 30 minutes awake time so I'm guessing she's just having a sleepy afternoon. She was awake for a solid 4 hours this morning though. OH is doing night shift again tonight (we've decided weekends are his night shift turn) so I'll be up with her until 12 ish then hand over. Think I'll watch the tennis if Rowan is compliant with sleep. I didn't manage to pump a whole lot today so it'll be a formula night for her for one feed.

How's everyone's night going so far?

BertieBotts · 11/09/2021 21:03

Yep I don't think they can focus on a mobile yet. We have one from DS2 that he was absolutely fascinated with in the changing room in ikea, so we bought it! But he was about 3 months old then.

dirtyfries · 11/09/2021 21:05

Made a big mistake today.
DH is at a wedding(!) and has been out since 9am. This morning was going so well, lots of long naps for baby with nice happy wake windows of around 45mins.

I could feel myself dropping off around 3pm and Frankie had been asleep for about 2.5hrs so I decided to wake, change, feed and try to put her back down so I could get some kip when we she went back off.
What actually happened is she ended up cluster feeding from 3 until 8.30!!!
Relentless cycle of feeding, falling asleep on the boob and waking as soon as I'd unlatch her to put down (even if she'd been asleep on the nipple for 30mins+). Every wake she'd only be settled with more feeding. She won't take a dummy.

Now I'm wide awake and worked up. Will probably pick a fight with DH when he gets home Angry

20 days pp today so I guess we're hitting the 3 week cluster feeds early. I need to get more mentally prepared somehow!

PurplePansy05 · 11/09/2021 22:38

Oh yeah if you go back to the previous thread, we had a looong chat about the 3 week cluster feeding stage @dirtyfries. Yep, not an easy one to go through.

@biscuitcat I'm so sorry lovely. That's awful, I hope you're not going to be severely affected, bless you all. Keep us updated and take care of yourselves Flowers xxx if it helps, my DS also has a radar, screams as soon as I am about to sit down and eat or have a cuppa. Cannot recall last time I had a non-microwaved tea or coffee 🤦🏼‍♀️ Bleurgh, it's not the same!

Thank you all for your wound infection sympathy. It's definitely another infection, I could tick all my symptoms off the list. It'll have to be an out of hours GP call tomorrow as I think it is slightly worse than yesterday so don't want to risk anything. I really don't want to moan more, but I'm so fed up with it now. Still won't be able to drive with this because it's open. Arghhh. xx

Ready2020 · 11/09/2021 23:08

@PurplePansy05 yes best get it seen too! I'm 5 weeks pp and still suffering from tears that are very painful that were supposed to be stitched up but either missed or didn't take. I'd hoped to be done with birth issues by now too. It's such a pain. Literally.

Rowans sleep times are all over the place today so she's just gone down after a feed now but still in the lounge. Usually she sleeps until 12 or 1am then feeds and taken upstairs. Chances are she'll sleep another 3 hours from now! Not sure what to do as Darren is on night shift. Chances are I'll just keep her here until then but it's much later than usual. Might snooze on the sofa but the bassinet isn't really for night unsupervised sleep.

sarah13xx · 11/09/2021 23:37

@wimbler still trying but think the during the day part of it is quite unrealistic to follow. Before he was born I said I wasn’t going to follow most of the during the day stuff but I’d loosely stick to the timings and had planned to give him one long lunchtime nap in a dark room every day. That really hasn’t happened but at the time I imagined I’d be going for a nap at the same time and I just never have. We don’t have another child but I can imagine it’s much harder trying to fit in things for another child too. He seems to have stopped the screaming before bed and was only unsettled on and off tonight rather than full on screaming his head off. Feel like we still have people wanting to meet him and I haven’t started any sort of classes or anything yet so I’m just never quite getting to start a routine in the day
