@PurplePansy05 no I don't think a CS affects how soon after it returns (could be wrong though!) but I was wondering if it affected intensity? I'm not sure if it's coming or not but if it is I think it will take a few days which will time perfectly for my monster train journey 🙄

@lucyrpbthat is a great discount! Another downside to quitting my job while pregnant - I would have just bought it if I hadn't! The coat I ordered is going to look so rubbish compared 😂

PurplePansy05 · 30/09/2021 08:16

DS is still asleep after his vaccinations! 😱 Since midnight! He looks so content, bless him. Perked up last night and was very alert and chatty, fed more thankfully. But I don't know what to do with myself! And my breasts are leaking so need to express again 🙈 xx

PurplePansy05 · 30/09/2021 08:19

@Daffodil21 No idea re intensity tbh. I read that generally periods become less heavy pp if you suffered from heavy ones before and I really hope this is true! But then surely the type of delivery and any potential injuries must have some impact too xx

Inmypjsagain · 30/09/2021 09:13

@Daffodil21 oh that’s a good idea. We have the infantino carrier I’ll have a look (we also got the baby bjorn mini given to us btw and I prefer infantino!)

I have the seraphine Parker too, haven’t tried the panels elsewhere but I will do, probably on husbands hoodie.

Thank you re: pramsuits. I’ve ordered the Mori pram suit. I absolutely love the Mori stuff, it’s so soft, but it does seem to get dirty quickly? Like the material looks grimy, not just milk spillage etc… but we have blankets, towels, sleeping outfits, sleeping bags, clothes etc it’s my favourite place for clothes, we might join the sleep club. then I like the white company and then M&S. Really unimpressed with John Lewis stuff, it washes badly. I like h&m too but their clothes aren’t that soft I don’t think and sizing all over the place (I got a jumper and legging set, leggings too small and jumper huge!)

@Smallbean27 yeah digestive systems getting mature, I do wonder when itll get better though because he’s SO loud!

I don’t miss work at all and husband and I have started a spreadsheet to see if I have to go back. We’re out and about every day and there’s so much I want to do with him, I’ll be so sad to go back. I’m still seeing and speaking my work friends all the time so don’t feel I’m missing out. I moaned about nct at the start but now the babies are here everyone’s got a lot more social, we’re meeting up at least weekly and are doing baby massage and sensory together.

@daffodil I got my period 2 days ago, just before 8 weeks post partum. Have had period pain for a few days before but the pain wasn’t as bad a pre pregnancy, it’s pretty light atm. Pre pregnancy my periods were very painful and heavy (like super tampons every hour on top of a night time pad for days 2 and 3) so I’ll report back, I keep being told they should be better!

biscuitcat · 30/09/2021 09:17

In terms of work, I wouldn't say I'm missing my job, but I'm also looking forward to going back as I really enjoy it - all the more so because I'm going back part time! Having some adult company will be really nice. I'm still chatting a lot to colleagues though, which is lovely as I don't feel so separate.

We're having a bit of a mare with sleep at the moment 😫 he had a glorious few days of waking once at 3 and not again till 6:30/6:45, and I was so hoping it would stick as I felt a million times better rested, but we're now back to 2 and 4:30 and quite often 6:30 as well - it's exhausting! Nice that it's fairly predictable so could be worse, but it was so nice before and I miss it!

On the winter clothing chat - does anyone have a list of what we actually need? I'm finding it a bit confusing and I can never tell if I'm dressing him right, just hoping he'll let us know if he's too cold and we'll feel sweating for too hot?

sarah13xx · 30/09/2021 09:26

@Inmypjsagain I’ve found that with h&m too! I thought it was really small size wise but then got a pram suit which is absolutely huge for 2-4 months 🤷🏼‍♀️ I was really surprised with how good and cheap their clothes for babies are though. It’s not really somewhere I’d think to shop for myself usually but I have been impressed!

That’s nice the nct people are meeting up now 😊

Daffodil21 · 30/09/2021 09:30

@Inmypjsagain I have that one too so you can def hang a blanket off it :) hope your period stays relatively light! I thought they'd be worse after birth for some reason but glad to know this isn't necessarily the case!

@biscuitcat I have no idea either. On the group walk the other day one of the ladies asked if I thought he'd be warm enough with his legs out. I didn't know what to do as I didn't see what I could do with the snow suit being too warm. That's when I got the blanket from the car and realised it could hook on. I did feeel terrible that someone had to point it out to me!

PurplePansy05 · 30/09/2021 10:17

@Daffodil21 What do you mean about blanket and hooking on? Sorry, I'm lost, forgive the baby brain 🙈

Gutted that you say JL clothes don't wash well @Inmypjsagain, I only just bought quite a few pieces from there for DS for early next year. 🙄 Obviously not washed them yet. The online reviews were good though!

He has no stuff from H&M at all, I've always hated their sizing, I just can't work it out for adults and it's put me off the brand. Maybe I should look again.

M&S I found small on DS, he needs more space in the legs. Cardigans are great though. Will only buy tops from there if at all going forward.

Next is fantastic IME, generous size and quality. DS has most of his clothes going forward from there. Also happy with Sainsbury's own brand and Asda so far so good! Morrisons is a no no though, I had clothes gifted from there and found them awful, stretched so bad after a wash. He wears a mix of Next, some supermarket brands and independent shops atm. I love handmade stuff from Etsy and he has way too much from there. So many lovely independents on Instagram too, I keep buying him little bits for later, they're gorgeous quality🥰

I made a list of roughly how many babygrows, vests, jumpers, cardigans and bottoms he'll need for 3-6 months and ordered in colours that suit him best and that I can easily mix and match. Thing is, he's a refluxy baby and I go through a lot more than I expected, even with bibs etc. I still wash a lot but it's more clothes than I ever expected 🙈 I will just put an extra layer or two over him in the winter if we're out and he'll be wearing the same number of layers inside, with the heating on he won't need more I figured? xx

lucyrp · 30/09/2021 10:46

@biscuitcat what do you mean what we actually need ?? I've just got DD in vests and sleep suits every day 🤣🙈 we have ventured to leggings and a top a couple of times but that's about it. Oh and a dress and tights !

DD has most of her clothes from Next, M&S, sainsburys, tesco, primark and H&M. I've found tesco sizing to be very small! Next washes best IMO

Ready2020 · 30/09/2021 11:26

@BertieBotts thanks for the info re co sleeping. I think the issue is I don't want to continue it past 6 months or so as I'd really like my OH back in the bed. I think it will depend how she goes at that age and what her feeding is like. I found with co sleeping the temptation was there to feed her whenever while when she was in snuz pod she had more routine feeds. Though that might just be the few nights she's had recently.

That's OH and I on the train to Edinburgh to see James Bond. DD has been left with granny. I don't feel as bad as I thought I would leaving her, more worried that they'll spend too much time interacting with her than getting her to nap.

It's meant to be OH and I spending time together but we're both here on our phones Grin

@Ready2020 so hard to make sure they let them nap 😂 my mum was left with him yesterday for an hour and she doesn’t put him down and is singing while waving things in his face etc for the whole time she has him 🙈 I very firmly tell her he’s due a nap too!

August 2021 Babies - Final evictions and the fourth trimester
PurplePansy05 · 30/09/2021 12:16

@Daffodil21 Probably someone confused and new on MN! Although who knows, maybe it was a cheeky advert? Anyone seen what they said?

I absolutely LOVE your blanket 😍 Love it! Is it handmade? I am still a bit thick and can't work out how you've attached it, might need to play around with our Ergobaby.

We're >990 posts, @BertieBotts are you going to do the new thread honours? Grin xx

Daffodil21 · 30/09/2021 14:05

@PurplePansy05 There's a metal button thing which I just hooked the blanket over through the gaps in the crochet. It's lovely isn't it!! It is handmade but not by me!! My very talented friend made it for him 🥰

Very nearly full! I won't post again until we're on the new one!

Inmypjsagain · 30/09/2021 14:39

@PurplePansy05 yeah I was disappointed with the JL ones but we could have bought a bad batch. The colour has just really faded, there was a tiger one that was really orange and is now a pale orange. Baby is refluxy too so it’s all washed a lot but the colour just washed out! I haven’t tried next, we have Sainsbury’s walkable to us but no clothes, I’m not even sure we have a Morrison’s near us 🤨 but I want to try all these other places! We have same issue with M&S though, fine on body and arms and short on legs- we’ve cut the feet off 4 outfits and sewed the loose bits up, supplemented by socks!

In respect of stuff we need… lots of long sleeve vests and full body suits I expect…We actually have more stuff for 3-6 than we had newborn as most of our gifts were for an older age, feel a bit overwhelmed by clothes! I guess we need a proper car seat blanket? Or is that a waste? We’ll need mittens and hats and booties. Mori has baby snoods! Do babies need snoods?! We have 10 cellular blankets, some white company and Mori normal baby blankets and then a thick woolly one. Surely that’s enough 🤔 not sure if there’s any other winter specific stuff we need?

Didn’t catch the deleted messages either and I’m intrigued too!

@Daffodil21 well I’ve been told pregnancy can sort out the hormones that make your periods bad but I have no idea if it’s true! Fingers crossed it is!

@sarah13xx H&M do some really cute outfits and I had their adjustable newborn stuff that I thought was clever, they’re online exclusives stuff are cute too, I bought a little Batman outfit for Halloween for £6 🙈 they just don’t feel as soft as Mori! And yeah the nct group have ended up being good, it started off so awkward and no one replied to messages and was really stand offish. Totally gone the other way now. Theyre all really successful and career driven though, most are going back to work at 6-8 months so it’ll be weird when it’s just me taking the full year and possibly more… the one that had an emergency c section when she got covid in the last trimester (she was in hospital for the first month of baby’s life!) seems pretty traumatised though and thinks she’s got long covid which is really scary, so she might end up taking more mat leave as a consequence… anyway sorry that was a ramble!

Has anyone found a thick muslin that is good for baby spew? I had one doubled up under the chin, the milk went totally through it and onto the outfit! I’ve found all bibs too big and some milk always goes in between the neck and bib and gets the oufit wet too… any recommendations or tips at what I’m doing wrong?!

BertieBotts · 30/09/2021 14:40

It's fine you can do it if you want. I'm exhausted!
