I am home alone! 😱😱😱

@PurplePansy05 i just tried the hakaa on one side while using the elec pump on the other - got a little bit from the hakaa but barely anything compared to the elec. it's funny how everyone gets on with different things!

@BertieBotts hope you feel better soon. I'm finding that if I think about his birth at all, that's it, tears come. It wasn't even traumatic in the slightest.

@Ava50x hang on in there!!!!

PurplePansy05 · 26/08/2021 14:41

Hope it passes quickly @BertieBotts Flowers

@Daffodil21 I know, it's so confusing because I keep reading lots of useful pieces of advice about expressing but it's exactly as you ssid, everyone is different!

@WolfMother326 I like the Haakaa, however like Daffodil says, it is a personal preference. And as much as I can praise it a lot, a manual pump just isn't for major expressing work. But I can express a full feed per day and it's super gentle on my breasts. One thing I'd mention as well which my HV said is that electric pumps tend to be more efficient in terms of expressing fatter milk from the back of the breast whereas manual ones like Haakaa focus on collecting the surplus from the front of the breast which isn't as fatty xx

I think birth is such an incredible thing to process isn't it? I remember driving home this time and I was just looking at the sky and trees in wonder thinking they are still here, still just the same, and I went through that?

I found it neither traumatic nor transcendent but it was just such a BIG intense experience.

I will write up the birth story at some point.

Inmypjsagain · 26/08/2021 15:37

@lucyrp well that’s a good idea, why didnt I think Of that? Hope they fit okay!

@EJT89 fingers crossed for you that it happens prior to the induction so you can have baby snuggles soon 🥰 must be a weird feeling going over due, maybe time for an extra extra spicy curry?!?

@sarah13xx honestly I don’t think the tilt did anything and we woke up to a wet patch next to him so he’d clearly been sick in his sleep, it stresses me so! I wonder if we’ll just need stay up with him, I think we’d struggle, even doing it in shifts. Sorry to hear about the projectile vom, any consolation we are are going through the same. Going to try and get a drs appointment as I think this is reflux but who knows. Will I even be able to get an appointment?! But poor thing is so unsettled and I can’t soothe, not really sure what to do.

@Ava50x I also think the last few weeks were worse than now. I’m tired but I’ve got something to show for it and it’s nothing an unbroken night’s sleep won’t fix. At 38 weeks my whole body ached and I was exhausted despite a 12 hour sleep, so more than justified to be totally fed up! But I really hope you have your baby here soon 🥰

@WolfMother326 congratulations 🎉 hope your recovery is going okay, glad to hear you’re feeling more like yourself, hope that continues quickly. Midwives at the hospital recommended the medela and I’ve found it good. 2 of the nct ladies really like the hakaa and 1 has the medela too. Think this thread shows we all like different things. Medela single pump isn’t cheap to not get on with it though…

@BertieBotts sorry to hear this! It’s such a massive change and you’ve gone from a family of 4 to 5! It’s a lot to get used to, so that correlated with hormones makes sense you’d be feeling down. Hopefully it won’t last long and hormones will pick you up again 😊 and birth is weird, and I didn’t even do it vaginally!!!

@Jessicapebbles so glad Darcy is loving her little sis, that’s really so lovely to read 💖

Husband has just told me today is Thursday!!!! I thought it was Wednesday! I have totally lost a day, how have I managed that? And it’s a bank holiday on Monday! I didn’t realise. It’s true you lose track of all time 😂

Daffodil21 · 26/08/2021 16:55

@BertieBotts I think I was just so convinced something was going to go wrong that when it all went to plan and he was ok, I just in disbelief when they passed him to me. As I say, not traumatic at in terms of birth experience though! Looking forward to hearing your birth story when you're ready to share x

Daffodil21 · 26/08/2021 16:55

@Inmypjsagain i lose track of the days all the time 😂

Ready2020 · 26/08/2021 17:17

Such a frustrating day today. Rowan keeps on unlatching from my boob then starts rooting for more. It makes my nipples even more sore as I get a good latch the first time but 4 or 5 times over I don't. No idea what's wrong with her. She's not had a full feed as I end up just giving up. At one point I just handed her to OH saying I just can't do this any more. Obviously I then took her back and tried again but reluctantly.

PurplePansy05 · 26/08/2021 18:00

@Ready2020 How strange, Leo's been the same all day. I started questioning if he's grown and I need to adjust his feeding position, I'm lost. He'd unlatch and want mire, and wriggle and tense and it's just crazy. Really hard today.

Does anyone else still look at them in disbelief at times that they were inside us not long ago?? I sometimes still can't get my head around this and around the fact that I got him now. I look at him every now and then and think he's a perfect little doll, and then he stirs and it strikes me again that he's my son, my actual son. It's mind-blowing. xx

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 26/08/2021 18:04

I think when they do that constant re-latching thing it means something else is wrong, maybe a full nappy or some wind or something.

Daffodil21 · 26/08/2021 18:19

@PurplePansy05 yes!!! He was sat with my MIL earlier and I was just looking at him thinking HOW were you inside me?? Then I look down at myself and I remember how 😂

We set up his bank account yesterday and when I signed all the bits and pieces it listed me as 'mother'. I just thought oh shit, that's me. I am a mother 😂

Whatshouldbemyusername · 26/08/2021 18:41

@Ready2020 and @PurplePansy05 Arya-Nyah been like this since 2pm. Really unsettled constant latching and unlatching too. She's finally fallen asleep on my chest now for the last 25 minutes just when I wanted to go shower. I dare not move right now though as she need the sleep. I don't want a cranky baby when am doing the night shift x

@Daffodil21 I need to sort out a bank account for her too. Question - do you need to register baby's birth before you can open a bank account for them? Due to covid the earliest appointment I've got is 13th sept to register her birth x

Jessicapebbles · 26/08/2021 19:17

@PurplePansy05 @Inmypjsagain Thank you both! We’re so proud of how she has adapted! She’s a superstar.

Omg @Jessicapebbles this is too much 🥰🥰🥰 how adorable! I don't know how you're coping with these two cuties at home xx

Whatshouldbemyusername · 26/08/2021 19:23

@Jessicapebbles Oh My God this is too cute. Thank you for sharing. Your girls are so so so adorable 🥰

Daffodil21 · 26/08/2021 19:46

@Whatshouldbemyusername we needed to for the bank we chose but no idea for others! In Scotland you only get 21 days to register the birth so we had to do it while my husband was off work as I can't drive until after the deadline, thankfully we managed to!

@Jessicapebbles that is just adorable!!

Ready2020 · 26/08/2021 20:05

@PurplePansy05 @Whatshouldbemyusername I've got my health visitor tomorrow am so I'll ask her about it. I read some where that it could be a too fast milk supply or too slow. So they either back off or they are annoyed there isn't milk. Not sure how to fix that mind especially if you don't know which it is. I've not expressed any milk today so I'm suspicious for me it's too much milk coming out.

I hope she settles over night though. We're bathing her in a bit then cuddles, feed and hopefully she'll settle down so I can have a nap.

Daffodil21 · 26/08/2021 20:16

@RandomCatGenerator photos as promised. So hands like that at the front and then just pull up so they're straight (obv not pull from the neck)

Other hand supporting their back

Daffodil21 · 26/08/2021 20:17

Just realised the back photo isn't actually supporting his back, but you get the idea!

Ready2020 · 26/08/2021 20:23

Ah that's how we hold rowan for burps but sitting on our knee.

BertieBotts · 26/08/2021 21:47

We are winding like this too. Just because it's cute, have a winding photo and a sibling photo!

@BertieBotts he has so much hair!!

BertieBotts · 26/08/2021 22:04

I make hairy babies apparently :o All three have had loads of hair at birth but all different colours. DS1 was dark, DS2 red, DS3 light brown.

I know we did mention nappies the other day but I can't remember what was discussed.

DS has just woken for his feed, I took him downstairs and made up a bottle. While I was there I changed his nappy. I've fed him and he's now laying on the bed in his sleeping bag settling (hopefully) while I pump, before transferring him into his crib.

  1. Would you check his nappy before putting him back down in his crib if he seems content and settled?
  1. If you think but not sure he's done a poo while pumping, but again he's content and settled, would you change it or leave it until the next feed?

I think I know the answer here, I'm just hoping I'm wrong 😀

Daffodil21 · 27/08/2021 03:28

PS I'm hoping the quietness on here over night time means everyone is getting some much deserved rest!!!

Magik01 · 27/08/2021 03:46

@Daffodil21 I wouldn’t wake him if he seems content and settled personally! In regards to not mowing if he’s done a poo, can you smell anything? Not sure if FF poop smells of anything though?! 🤣

Also loving all the baby pictures everyone!! Isaac was born with tons of hair, everyone always comments on how much he has. The heartburn was worth it lol.

@Jessicapebbles your two are so beautiful! DS1 won’t even sit next to Isaac yet and it’s been three weeks 😂
