Thank you ladies! ❤
@Magik01 Huge congratulations on the birth of your lovely boy Isaac, well done, lovely 💙 Glad it went well and you're both feeling ok! xx
Your murder story made me laugh, I got up after the C-section to have a shower and forgot I still didn't have any pants on and omg it was like floodgates of hell have opened straight onto the hospital floor 🙈 I called the midwife and was very apologetic for the mess, but obviously they've seen it all before 🤣
I had the same situation as you, was going to go in first because of my GD and didn't eat from midnight the night before, well technically from 10pm. I ended up going in at 2pm because of 2 EMCSs one of which was rather bad from what I heard from the mum who had it, bless her. I was at the point of starved to death by then. When the anaesthetic went in my bp has plummeted and I was nearly sick straight away but had a wonderful anaesthetist who pumped me up straight away and I felt absolutely fine. I needed 6 or 7 top ups of whatever they give you in total, but I was with it all the time and she was talking me through every step of what she and the rest of the team were doing. That was amazingly reassuring as it feels a bit worrying when you can't feel your body from chest down pretty much at all. I will be sending a big thank you card and chocolates to my hospital team and in particular to my anaesthetist and the delivery team who went above and beyond.
@sarah13xx You're not necessarily wheeled in for the section. DH and I casually walked in, we had a good chat and a laugh with the whole team, everyone's introduced themselves by their name so it felt very personal. You will likely meet your anaesthetist and obstetric surgeons before the surgery too, I did and it was super helpful. I loved the whole experience.
I second everything @Magik01 has said about the painkillers, just take them as recommended even if you're not in pain. I didn't and thought I felt great but when the pain hits me it's quite sudden and a bit different to normal, it's it not really painas such, but a weak/dizzy wave. So prevent that if you can, just take your paracetamol and diclofenac and don't think you're a superhero straight away xx
