At 38+2 which I am today is when my waters broke with my first and the realisation that isn't going to happen this time is setting in 😣

RandomCatGenerator · 04/08/2021 12:35

@PurplePansy05 I am so happy for you! After such a tough pregnancy too. So many congratulations ❤️

@Winecoffeeteamum congratulations on Emily’s arrival! ❤️

Caz1226 · 04/08/2021 12:36

Wow congratulations to everyone! So many littles ones making their arrival it’s so exciting!
I had my 38 week app today and my little one is not yet engaged apparently he’s on the edge of the pelvis so I’ve got a sweep booked in at 40 weeks if he doesn’t arrive beforehand- I’m hoping he arrives before! Xx

RandomCatGenerator · 04/08/2021 12:38

@wimbler do keep the updates coming! How is the pain? I’ll be honest, I am surprised you’re still bleeding - I didn’t realise that was normal?

Magik01 · 04/08/2021 12:51

@Winecoffeeteamum massive congratulations!!! Hope your recovering well Flowers

Inmypjsagain · 04/08/2021 13:01

@RunnerGirl123 totally understand, I’d be frustrated too because it’s something youre working towards. Hopefully soon?

@Magik01 hope you’re the first then! I think if your little one is born later, partners are usually allowed in the recovery room for a few Hours even out of hours, assume that’s the case in most trusts. How exciting!

@Whatshouldbemyusername true you’re prepped for pain so a wax is a breeze!

@wimbler that’s good to know re bleeding! @RandomCatGenerator post both bleeding is normal for up to about 6 weeks I think.

@MrsB2019x oh no I’m so sorry! What a pain, any idea when instead?

@Ready2020 I hope not long for you to go!!! And same to you @lucyrp really hope your little one decides to come out. Extra cream on those marks!

@Winecoffeeteamum welcome Emily! Enjoy it, rest, hope recovery goes well!!! So happy for you!!

This thread is super exciting atm 💖

Inmypjsagain · 04/08/2021 13:04

@Caz1226 fingers crossed you as well you get a new arrival before the sweep!

@biscuitcat I still feel angry on your behalf it was even suggested!!!!

MrsB2019x · 04/08/2021 13:05

Congratulations @Winecoffeeteamum! 💕

@Magik01 That thread is incredible 🤣

@Inmypjsagain They said I could potentially be called overnight, if not then they will phone me for an update in the morning ☹️

My midwife is an absolute angel and she squeezed me in for a sweep today as the induction got delayed. Apparently cervix has shrunk to 2cm, is softening and mid-anterior so things are heading in the right direction anyway 🤞 hope that means induction won’t take as long as I thought (whenever I get called in anyway!)

Whatshouldbemyusername · 04/08/2021 13:44

@Magik01 that thread is hilarious 🤣🤣

@Winecoffeeteamum aaaw congratulations! Emily is such a lovely name. Enjoy your newborn cuddles. I hope mumma is well too x

wimbler · 04/08/2021 14:59

@RandomCatGenerator last time with my csection I bled for around 5-6 weeks but it varies in heaviness. If I do more activity it’s worse but definitely easing now.

I found having a bottle of water by the loo and rinsing after every wee and drying with kitchen paper far better than using loo roll which disintegrates quite a bit then spritz for bits on the pad. I’ve been told baths with tea tree oil is really good too but my midwife told me to avoid baths for now until I’m healed a bit more.

Finally felt able enough to pop to town today for a few bits. Needed some nursing bras so got measured in jojo maman. I’ve gone from a 32b to a 32DD 🙈

Feeding is going well, hoping to be discharged from the midwife on Friday when he will Hopefully be back to birth weight by then. He lost around 6% initially and has been putting it back on steadily.

biscuitcat · 04/08/2021 15:00

@MrsB2019x oh what a disappointment for you, but I'm glad to hear you had a sweep and things are travelling in the right direction. I'm counting down to my appointment for a sweep next week now, they won't do one till 40 weeks in my trust 😭

@Magik01 that thread is great!

@Winecoffeeteamum congratulations!! Emily is such a gorgeous name too - would be up there on our girl list but our neighbour has an Emily and I didn't want it to look like we copied!

Fran919 · 04/08/2021 16:46

Congratulations all! Starting to feel very real now that a lot of little people are starting to arrive.

Wishing you all a speedy recovery x

sarah13xx · 04/08/2021 17:11

So bizarre looking at the list on the first page and now a whole chunk of those babies are already here as the dates go on 😅 terrifying that my date isn’t very far down that list 🙈

Ava50x · 04/08/2021 17:56

@PurplePansy05 huge congratulations!! So glad your baby is here, safe and sound! Hope you are enjoying some sugary food, you definitely deserve it! Waiting to hear how big your baba is!

@Winecoffeeteamum congratulations! Welcome baby Emily! Hope you're both doing well and enjoying cuddles!

Getting jealous of all of you with babies already... Feel like I have such a long way to go still...

Had my 37 week midwife appointment today. Baby very low but not engaged. Had a nightmare of a time getting bloods taken, after 5 attempts with not a drop of blood, midwife said I should go into hospital to get it done. So frustrating because with kids home and DH working I don't have childcare!! So that's tomorrow's program. Thankfully DMIL will have them.

She also surprised me by saying it's now trust policy to test all women for GBS at 37 weeks. I told her i'm so pleased to hear that!! So lets see what the results will be.

lucyrp · 04/08/2021 19:28

@biscuitcat I'm not allowed one until 41 weeks and this is my second and baby is big which I find ridiculous!

notinthestarsigns · 04/08/2021 20:26

Ahh big congratulations to all those who have had their babies in the last few days, it’s nice to see such lovely news.

I’ve been getting messed around with my c section date but hopefully we’re getting somewhere now. Nobody got back to me like they were supposed to. Eventually after quite a bit of chasing I was given an appt for pre op this Sunday and told section will be fitted in as a semi emergency next week. I then got another call to say it would be pushed back to the end of the following week, despite it having clearly been recorded by the consultant that due to various risks I should give birth no later than between 38 and 39 weeks. Anyway, I just completely broke down at this and could barely even speak, so my husband spoke to the midwife and then we got a call back to say they will fit me in next week after all. It’s just so frustrating that they seemed happy to push me back by around 10 days due to slots being full and staff being on annual leave when all along I had been told that my risk factors meant that baby should be born by no later than next week. Anyway, hopefully all will be well now, just caused a lot of stress!

Aaaaa1519 · 04/08/2021 20:31

congratulations @PurplePansy05 and @Winecoffeeteamum so pleased for you x

Aaaaa1519 · 04/08/2021 20:36

@lucyrp i know exactly how you feel 38+5 today which is when dd1 arrived waters went at 38+3
Was really hoping this one would be here by now it’s such a downer but hopefully soon for both of us x

sarah13xx · 04/08/2021 20:47

@notinthestarsigns hope it goes ahead next week then! They seem to walk all over the top of some people. I was very firm the first time I spoke to my consultant because my cousin had the same one and had been messed about for weeks with a date and told there were no spaces when she needed in. I told my consultant about this and said how worried this was making me so she assured me they would do it on the date she gave me and she booked it in a bit earlier than she usually would I think! Seems to be unless you’re borderline rude to them you don’t seem to get anywhere for being patient

Ready2020 · 04/08/2021 21:17

My wee one seems to be very active the last couple of days plus feeling a bit more pressure on the pelvis. Is this a sign that she is more engaged or getting ready to go? Or is that just wishful thinking.... 😂

biscuitcat · 04/08/2021 21:35

@lucyrp sounds like our trusts have similar policies, I think for baby 2 onwards mine also only do a sweep at 41 weeks. Sorry you're feeling frustrated, hope you're feeling OK xx

@notinthestarsigns so annoying for you, and really inconsiderate too given your risk factors.
I'm glad it's hopefully sorted now for you, but ridiculous that you should need to go through so much stress to get to that stage!

@Ready2020 I've had similar! For my own sake I'd love to say that it means labour is getting really close, but sadly I think it might be wishful thinking 😂

lucyrp · 04/08/2021 21:47

@Aaaaa1519 yeah was hoping by the end of the week for me but I guess there's still time, just not holding out much hope x

@biscuitcat I thought it would be sooner for baby number 2 especially with other considering factors but nope. Seemingly they just think your vagina can stretch more the second time 🙄🤣 had a bit of a cry today but I feel okay tonight xx

Inmypjsagain · 04/08/2021 21:58

@MrsB2019x got everything crossed for you that you get called in ASAP!

@wimbler www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07NQCWWTS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_MSZ373WA92A4CN3ZT4HB?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 I was recommended this douche and spritz for bits sprayed on a pad and put in the freezer. Obviously won’t have try this out but thought I’d mention it. Glad you were feeling well enough to pop out.

@Ava50x argh it’s so horrible when you’re a pin cushion! Did the hospital sort it out?

@notinthestarsigns so sorry about that, I don’t blame you for being upset- totally justified. I understand everyone is busy but ultimately it comes down to risk and that should be prioritised! Must admit this annual leave business seems silly- again everyone is entitled to holiday and I hope everyone takes it to recoup, but my holiday would never be approved if there were shortages so it seems odd to me in a medical setting…. Hope everything goes to plan for you! X

@Ready2020 well it sounds promising to me so 🤞🏼

Also all crossed for @lucyrp and @Aaaaa1519

We are home! Getting into my own bed was heaven and a shower was just glorious. Husband is doing a great job and our flat looks like a florist! Really enjoying this newborn bubble but painkillers are wearing off now and I’m quite bloated- time for peppermint tea!

Hope everyone is doing well xx

Smurf123 · 04/08/2021 22:00

Congratulations on all the new arrivals!! Great to hear so many babies arriving 🎉

Inmypjsagain · 05/08/2021 06:32

@Smurf123 how are you and baby getting on? All well I hope 😊 xx

Post c section bloatedness has really hit me, I’m trying to wind baby and myself 😂 having lots of peppermint tea and capsules and making sure I eat slowly as my tummy is so sore from bloating! Hope everyone else is ok xx
