Hello and congratulations, lovely lot.

It's been a bumpy road so DP and I aren't telling anyone until late September. But I need to talk to someone!!!

@Sabristhebest just saw your post congrats to you too xx

Staryflight445 · 09/10/2021 06:18

Congratulations @Sabristhebest

BooSaidTheGhost · 09/10/2021 14:46

Ah it's so lovely seeing all these scan updates, congratulations ladies. My turn on Monday so keeping everything crossed! I'm sat in the hair dresser right now with a hairband holding my jeans together so either everything is progressing as hoped or I've deffo eaten too much cheesecake.

@wannabeamummysobad we weren't trying, so something of a shock! Worked out it must have been a tummy bug I had in July which knocked my pill off course I guess. Very happy now but initially felt a real sense of worry over whether it was the right time.

Harlequin1088 · 09/10/2021 14:51

@Staryflight445

I’m 13 weeks today (was adjusted yesterday) so only a week behind you *@FinnsMammy*

Exciting times

You're the same dates as me! Are you due 15th April too??
Harlequin1088 · 09/10/2021 14:54

Lovely to see so many ladies all excited. I had my scan on Wednesday and my due date is 15th April. I'm so pleased 🥰

Staryflight445 · 09/10/2021 16:40

@Harlequin1088 yep due 15th ☺️

Staryflight445 · 09/10/2021 16:43

And congratulations!

Harlequin1088 · 09/10/2021 17:04

@Staryflight445 Awww thank you. Congratulations to you too xx

Sabristhebest · 10/10/2021 12:25

@wannabeamummysobad aw thank you! I had an early scan at 7 weeks due to cramping and bleeding and the scan showed I was a week behind. So technically I'm right on schedule!

Sabristhebest · 10/10/2021 12:27

@FinnsMammy @Staryflight445 aw thank you!

@Harlequin1088 amazing! Congratulations girl!

J09x · 10/10/2021 15:01

I had a scan at 7+6 and was told my due date was 15/04. I had my scan on Friday, and they adjusted it to 13+2 when I would have been 13. Due date is now 13/04 🥰🥰
Anyone else with the same due date?
Also any guesses on what my little bean is 💖💙

@J09x omg hey due date twin! Congratulations Flowers
I'd say little bubba will be 💙

BooSaidTheGhost · 11/10/2021 22:14

I had my scan today and all is well. 12 wks on the dot as we thought and baby is looks healthy and was even waving on screen! Felt very emotional this evening, just letting go of the anxiety of the past few weeks.

FinnsMammy · 11/10/2021 22:35

@BooSaidTheGhost massive congrats it’s such a relief isn’t it !! @J09x I say boy too. Anyone want to guess my scan ?

wannabeamummysobad · 12/10/2021 07:53

What are you all looking at to guess if baby is 💖 or 💙? I have scan next week so am beyond curious. DH wants to know so we'll be finding out at the 20 week scan but to keep me occupied in the 7 week gap ...
@FinnsMammy @BooSaidTheGhost @J09x @Sabristhebest

FinnsMammy · 12/10/2021 08:08

@wannabeamummysobad the skull theory if its more rounded it’s a girl flatter is a boy but it’s just a bit of fun really! Also the nub theory can predict gender based on how it’s pointing but I didn’t catch a picture of it in any of my pics! Mine to me looks like potential girl but I feel like it’s another boy so who knows it’s just a bit if fun guessing for now but we will find out in about 6weeks! I was convinced my little boy was a girl too so I’m not a good guesser lol 😂

BooSaidTheGhost · 12/10/2021 10:10

I'm going to confess to complete ignorance here and say I didn't realise there were ways to guess the gender! However going on the skull theory, I'm expecting a boy, which is what my gut is telling me. I just feel so differently to when I was expecting my daughter, but who knows!

wannabeamummysobad · 12/10/2021 10:30

@FinnsMammy I've always wanted a 💖first so have convinced myself that's what we are having. Wouldn't be surprised if after a lifetime of saying 💖 I end up QueenB in a house of 💙. Will share mine next week to get everyone's thoughts

J09x · 12/10/2021 11:22

@Sabristhebest I think boy too! I'm so glad you think that🥰💙💙
@FinnsMammy I think you're having a girl for some reason. But then something about the skull is telling me boy 🙈 will you get a private scan?

@wannabeamummysobad I use the nub theory to guess mine. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but that's what is making me think I'm having a boy 🥰.

Eanrcs88 · 13/10/2021 08:50

Hi everyone!

Thought I'd jump on! I'm due 12th April, I'm 14+1 today!

Starting to feel more like myself now and appetite has returned! Week 7 to 12 were the worst for nausea and tiredness.

12 week scan was amazing, all screening has come back as low risk.

Still not ddcided if to find out if baby is a boy or girl - what's everyone else doing??

Xx

Ladder789 · 13/10/2021 15:02

Hi all
Due 29.04.22 with twins
Anyone else expecting 2?

I am a nervous wreck.
Currently 11w5d and just want my next scan to come quickly so I can see if they are doing ok.

9w3d scan was great, good measurements and strong heartbeats thank God.

We are sooooo excited and soooo nervous as we have had alot of losses, but none ever to this far along.

wannabeamummysobad · 13/10/2021 17:04

Has anyone told work they are pregnant? I'm fairly senior in a large organisation so I know they have strong policies in place but still not sure if I should wait until 25weeks or bite the bullet and tell post my scan next week.

Eanrcs88 · 13/10/2021 17:31

@ladder789 wow congratulations!! How exciting!! Just one over here, you must be thrilled!

@wannabeamummysobad yes I told my employer at around 9 weeks, I know I didn't have to (I work in a senior HR position!) but thought it would be helpful if ttheu knew and understood why I looked very pale for a few weeks lol. What are your reservations on telling them? Happy to answer any HR'y queries if you have any :D

wannabeamummysobad · 13/10/2021 18:21

@Eanrcs88 I'm really not sure but you hear so many horror stories about women being sidelined in the lead upto and post maternity. There aren't many women at my level (I work in finance) and the few that are say the same thing.
I was contemplating waiting until after my mid year review in December as then I'd have another yr as an outstanding performer ahead of maternity so that would be my evidence for bonus, promotions etc.
However I'm conscious that's 💩 behaviour on my part as makes it harder to recruit the right maternity cover given I know I want to take close to my full 52 weeks.

I'm 34, this is my first pregnancy and I've wanted to be a mum for so long that I want the time to enjoy my baby. But I will be back at work after and ready to continue progressing my career. It's a minefield.

Eanrcs88 · 13/10/2021 18:58

@wannabeamummysobad I completely understand your concerns, and as an HR professional it makes me sad that women still feel this way... I include myself in this. I will be 34 also and have spent many years building a successful career through the ranks and am proud of my position and what I've achieved in my career, and hope to continue on my current trajectory. I too plan to take full 52 weeks and then annual leave tagged onto the end too.

The bottom line is do what's right for you, not your company. You are highly protected under employment legislation currently (in some cases even when you haven't told you employer your pregant - risks assessments, for example, should be completed by employers for all female employees of child bearing age, purely due to the fact that pregant women don't have to tell their employer until 15 weeks before their due date! And the employer is obliged to remove the risk regardless).

Ultimately, you are entitled to return to the same role if you return to work after maternity leave within 6 months, and a same level role (including pay and seniority) if you return after 6 months.

Being sidelined is discrimination. Not paying bonus due to pregancy and maternity leave is discrimination. Not having the opportunity to progress or apply/be considered for a promotion whilst pregant or on maternity leave is discrimination.

Feel assured your protections under the law.

It is easy for me to say as I am well aware of employment rights.....try not to overthink it and I am sure your employer will be supportive! If not, it sounds like other companies will be ready to snap you up :)
