Hiya ladies,
Thought I'd start the new thread, hope you like the title! Best I could come up with I'm afraid!

PK - thankyou, will be enjoying the paracetemol if it gets much worse. Had a good night but it's still hurting during the day for some reason

Tyaca - Things could be worse, it could be in both hips (just the one for now!)

Pobletsmum - haven't had a firm diagnoses as I can't get to my docs and I'm not seeing my midwife again until after xmas. I thought this was probably the best place to ask! The pain is in my hip joint and it seems to hurt when I lie on that side although the pain has started during the day when I walk. If it continues after xmas then I may look into chiropracters and physio, I already wear a suppot belt for my back so I hope they don't give me another!

Joosey - what nappies are they??? I got mine a few weeks ago and I can't wait to use them as they are so cute & tiny, not like my gigantic MEOS

As for visitors I think I was quite lucky last time. My Mum and Aunty were here when I got home, made us some lovely lunch then left straight away! DP's family visited lots, they would come round and sit in the bedroom whilst I just lay there They were very helpful in other respects though. My mum stayed over for a week when DP went back to work and it was a godsend as she did everything and helped me catch up on some sleep.
I think I would have told non-family to p*ss off though!

Lucyand2turtledoves · 19/12/2007 15:20

Happy Birthday Rozzy
I'll have to give the exercise a go as the pain isn't too bad today. And as for the domed tummy - it looks really weird doesn't it! It does make sitting up much harder (but then so does pregnancy)

jooseyfruit · 19/12/2007 15:40

Happy birthday Rozzy!!

Lucy- totsbots fluffles and cotton tots, got nine of each, and cute wraps with fish on.

such a nightmare picking which ones to go for though, so much choice.
They look tiny now, but i bet they will look mahoosive on lo's little bums!!

zany · 19/12/2007 15:44

30 weeks today and babe keeps hicupping - well I think he's hicupping but to be honest she could just be dancing! Anyway Ive given up trying to figure out whats going on in the bump it just gets me worried. Ante natal class really freaked me out last night, talked about the stages of Labour for two hours. All I can say is that I hope babe is in the right position when its time to come out .

Still at work pretending to do work when I cant be bothered Im sure Im going toe get busted soon

Jo9977 · 19/12/2007 15:52

Happy birthday Rozzy!

Pk616 · 19/12/2007 16:17

Ah Ha! It's you Rozzy! HAPPY BIRTHDAY again to you!

Joosey - congrats on the nappy delivery! I really want some of those really super cute cloth nappies and wraps but we can't afford them so I'm going to be using the terry squares my mom used on me 28 years ago!! we've found some really cute bloomers that I used to wear too to go over the top so she'll look like she has a mahoosive yet very cute bum!

Lucy - pain in one hip joint, hurts when you sleep on it and hurts during the day when you walk - that's how my spd started! It really is just a case of take it as slow and easy as possible and keep those knees together!

Happy Birthday Rozzy

Hope the hip stretch works Lucy

Know exactly what you mean about work Zany. Feel I am letting the side down a bit but at the same time have a lot on my mind.

Up til now I've been feeling very lucky as I am very small and not suffering with any of the aches and pains that are plaguing lots of you. I always expected to be small as my Mum was very small (not much fluid and fairly small babies) so I wasn't too worried. At the midwife on monday I got a bit of a fright though when she looked worried after measuring me and said I had to have a scan in the next couple of days. I was half expecting that she would say something like that but it has freaked me out much more than I thought. Anyway, had to wait until today to find out when appointment would be and the only one they can give me is on Christmas eve - not good when the plan is to drive the 400 miles to my parents on saturday... So have decided to go with a private scan at £150 as I want to know as soon as poss, don't want to mess up plans for Christmas and if there is a problem I don't want to find out on Christmas eve.

I know the chances are that everything is fine but still feel like I've been through the mill.

Right - off to yoga now to think positive relaxing thoughts!

93pjb · 19/12/2007 17:05

PS meant to add on the nappy front - my sister recommended thenappylady.co.ukif you are thinking about reusable nappies. You fill in a form and then you get a personal advice letter based on that. It took a few days but I was really impressed with the detail of the response including info on grants that the local council make if you use cloth nappies etc. If you order through them you get a 5% discount but there is no obligation.

Slacker · 19/12/2007 17:15

Hello, have had no internet (or car) for over a week grrr, so just skimmed the thread and I'm definitely in the 'house is a shitheap' camp. Hopefully DH is going to blitz it at the weekend so it's not too awful for christmas. I can't be bothered, although I am worried about bringing a baby into such chaos. Ah well, it won't notice.

Baby is fine, had midwife appt the other day, the one where she got to meet my children. They all had fun with the blood pressure monitor and stethoscope, then she produced a birthball which the little ones keep rolling into the christmas tree, think that's going to have to be put away for a few weeks! So far she hasn't put a foot wrong so I'm feeling confident that I'm going to be happy to have her at my birth (would rather go unassisted than allow the community midwife I met into my house). Still worried that after 4 easy births this will be the one where something goes wrong, but at least if it does I'll have someone I trust with me.

Apparently my MIL phoned DH yesterday (for the first time in months) to say she won't be able to get the kids' christmas presents to us, and no mention of wanting to see the kids over xmas (she hasn't seen them since I made her have them for the day when I had my 12 week scan)....anyway she enquired after my health and even appears to know which month the baby's due. Don't think I'll be troubled by an invasion of relatives desperate to see the baby though....at least all its siblings are really excited about it which is more important.

Joosy - fluffles certainly are cute and fluffy, not sure about tiny though! I've had 2 skinny babies and 2 less so, so will wait and see how this one turns out before buying some more nappies. Have got some dizzy diapers, sandys and prefolds to keep me going. Haven't bought any baby stuff for ages, I just want a couple more things like terry sleepsuits, don't want it to freeze in the thin cotton ones I got.

Hope you're all ok and Ladle's babies are doing well, didn't see an update from her.

LOVEMYMUM · 19/12/2007 17:51

Happy birthday Rozzy.

PJ - just try to keep calm and take one day at a time.

Placed my first Mothercare order today: A Brevi changing station which conceals a bath and a nappy wrapper for £9.99 + cassettes. Have made a note not to put messy nappies in!

I admire those of you who are using reusable nappies. I suppose i should but i can't face doing the extra washing and knowing me, would panic about them being taken away to be cleaned in case i was left with none.

Last day at work tomorrow! Yippee. I started my job in June, found out i was pregnant a day later (i do 3 days per week, 16 hours a week), and have only just realised i should get holiday pay! (I bill them for hours worked and get paid per hour). I started a thread in the employment section and using direct.gov, found out i'm owed 7 days pay - about £350 after tax! Mothercare - here i come! (Not too worried if she won't pay me - am a member of the GMB Union and they can do the necessary.)

princessllama · 19/12/2007 18:50

happy birthday rozzy.
feels like lo and me will have flu forever. she projectile vomitted all over dad's carpet in the hall today because she was coughing so much-he hasn't noticed yet but i better get back on hands and knees cos the stain is large.
beansprout last time round we even made some of our friends go and get the milk from the shop for their cup of tea!

beansprout · 19/12/2007 18:54

Happy Birthday rozzy!!

Am going to check out the nappy lady, definitely want to get that one sorted this time.

Leesmum - I know you said that your baby has engaged too - has anyone else had this yet?

LOVEMYMUM · 19/12/2007 19:01

Hi Princess: Not the best way to spend a birthday. Sorry.

Zany - Am not thinking too much about the labour. DH wants me to try to be "elegant" - ho, ho, ho! When he says that it makes me want to run around the room saying "bottom, bottom, bottom". Poor thing - he really ought to know better! (I don't always listen to him.)

beansprout · 19/12/2007 19:02

What does an elegant labour look like?!

rozzyraspberry · 19/12/2007 20:19

Thanks for all the birthday wishes! Just had a lovely spicy curry and about to lay on the sofa now.

One more day at work tomorrow then off until 2nd January - can't wait!!

pobletsmum · 19/12/2007 22:14

Happy birthday Rozzy!

Lovemymum - an elegant labour? Sounds like trouble to me, so I'm glad you don't always listen to him . After a hideous 1st labour, I've been doing everything I can to prepare better this time, and the advice from everyone is all about being able to completely 'let go' and go with the flow, maximising oxitocin levels etc etc...which probably means the complete opposite of elegance! Seriously though, when it comes to it, I hope you will have his full support, however elegant (or not) you are.

Slacker - I agree that baby won't notice the mess in my house, but I'm more worried about the stream of midwives and health visitors that acompany the baby (I wasn't discharged from midwives for 28 days 1st time, then HV took over where they left off - I was struggling somewhat ). If the same happened again, I'm sure they wouldn't notice my inch of dust and month-old crumbs on the carpet!!! If only DH had some free time to help...

pobletsmum · 19/12/2007 22:18

93pjb - sorry to hear that you're having to go private for your scan. When will you have it done? Best wishes.

LOVEMYMUM · 19/12/2007 22:33

Elegant labour: Maybe it's a labour with me, the midwife, DH and my mum drinking tea out of china cups with cucumber sandwiches, with the occasional gentle exclamation from me of, "Gosh, i seem to be having a contraction, do excuse me."

I think its more a case of DH doesn't want me to swear cos he's a Dr and he doesn't want it to reflect upon him.

bluedomino · 19/12/2007 22:35

Hey ladies, hope you are all well. I've come to the conclusion I wasn't made for carrying babies. Lucy, I feel for you, I've got bad sciatica too, can't put any weight on r leg now, ended up in hospital with it a while back and had pethidine shots. Got SPD too, my back/hips feel so unstable like they are going to fall apart any minute. You can take co-dydramol if the paracetamol doesn't work. Just been measured for special tights from tissue viability nurse for my varicous veins (not on legs) sooo embarrasing . Anaemic. Knackered but can't sleep as brain going 500 mph.

Having an elective c-section and now I'm wondering if I should try for a normal birth, but don't know if I could go through that again.

Been signed off work for a month and it runs out tomorrow, haven't heard a word from my personnel dept so I don't know if I've been put on mat leave already. Can't phone my boss as he is a evil weirdo.
Sorry for rant, but it seems like no-one understands what I'm going throu except you lot.

LOVEMYMUM · 19/12/2007 22:50

Oh dear Bluedom.

You do have a lot on your plate.
My brain is also going 500 mph!
DH calling me to get into bed.

Goodnight all.

Pk616 · 20/12/2007 08:39

Blue - Sounds like you really have had a hard time of it lass. The sciatica and the SPD are bitches aren't they! But every thing else on top as well! I really feel for you. Have you tried eating lots of eggs, they're packed with iron (and other goodies) and provided you eat them with lots of roughage you shouldn't get too bound by them, iykwim!
I was eating, on average, 2 eggs a day with lots of salad leaves and marmite(full of B vitamins which help your body to utilise the iron). I followed it up with more chocolate than I've ever eaten in my life(I don't normally like chocolate, so that was a wierd one for me), which is also full of iron and happy chemicals so would help your anaemia AND how down you seem to be feeling at the moment! With your birth plans, I think you should try and get an appointment to talk to your midwife or consultant or even just your GP or a counsellor about your feelings of an elective C-section verses a natural birth and see how you feel once you've been able to talk it all through. I don't know, but it may help you to really formulate a decision and put your mind at rest, slowing your brain down a few hundred miles an hour! Other than that you could start a new thread on here in the childbirth bit and see if anyone else has had a similar experience to you and if the went for an elective C-section or a natural delivery and how it went for them and how they felt about it afterwards. Again I don't know if it'd be any use to you but it might help you to sort out what you think is best for you and your baby, physically and emotionally.
Do you fell well enough to return to work? If not (and you really can't bring yourself to find out about your mat leave status right now) go to your GP or whoever today and get signed off work again until your maternity leave should have kicked in. I think you should try and call the HR dept or who ever deals with mat leave at your work and find out when it starts though!
I hope things start to get better for you lass

Hey Lovemymum - I too have just discovered about this getting paid holiday while you're on mat leave. Luckily found out in time to arrange it as there are quite a lot of restrictions around it but at the end of the day it's an extra month's wages. Wahey.

Best of luck with the scan 93pjb - like so many things it's just a precaution but if you were expecting a small bump don't let the fact you've been asked for a scan worry you. (as of course you know!)

Happy bday Rozzy!

Quite like the idea of a changing station with a bath in it. Our bathroom has no heating and is REALLY cramped (no room to actually undress properly without the door open, let alone juggle a baby) Was going to use a PC table with one of those pull-out keyboard shelves as a changing table but maybe I should splash the cash!

Jo9977 · 20/12/2007 10:01

Oh blue, you're having a rotten time of it - really hope things get better soon - thinking of you!

samsmam · 20/12/2007 10:06

Hi all, I miss so much on these threads. Time just flies by.

I feel all of a sudden really heavy and well....... very pregnant! Only 10 weeks to go. I'm sure that I never felt like this with DD1. She is 15 months now and is just in to everything, wish I had eyes to switch on when I wanted to sleep!

Hope all the ladies that are not feeling great- get better soon and sort out any problems.
Now I am officially not going back to work I feel like I have a big weight lifted off my shoulders. Although I did find out I still have 55 days annual leave owing me.

I have nothing ready for the arrival of this LO made DP promise that he will get out my moses basket and stuff in the new year! I still have loads to buy.

If I don't get to post again before xmas day- everyone enjoy and relax. Next year we'll have crawling/walking babies to contend with too.

Egg · 20/12/2007 10:18

Morning all. Have a stinking cold but otherwise ok.

pj good luck with the scan I hope it goes well. I was given an extra scan last time as they thought DS was too small, then at that scan they thought he was too big so I had another one a few weeks later. He turned out to be dead on average...

Blue, so sorry you are having such a crap time, it doesn't sound like you are fit to go back to work at all to be honest.

Beany, Dory's head was 3/5 engaged at 29 weeks, I know it is still well down but have not checked to see what midwife wrote this week.

Went to a Twins Club yesterday which was great. Lots of sets of twins and lots of positive stories, and I met loads of lovely ladies too!

Today DS has his nursery Christmas party, so I have to collect him at 11:30 and take him to the school next door where they will eat and dance and have fun. Am quite excited, just wish I didn't have a streaming red nose and eyes.
