Hiya ladies,
Thought I'd start the new thread, hope you like the title! Best I could come up with I'm afraid!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bessie123 · 17/12/2007 13:56

Zany - there was a thread a couple of months ago that had a pretty comprehensive list in. I made a list from it (which I may need to cut down...)

arnica (apparently, tablets are good)
anti-bacterial gel if you are in NHS hospital
cleaning wipes
multi-pack of dark underwear that you can throw away after
fan
lavender oil
make-up
water to sip
magazines
flip flops for the shower
lactulose or fibogel
comfortable clothes you are happy to see visitors in
disposable changing mats
gaviscon
shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser, face wipes, toothpaste etc
vaseline
dark towels
dried fruit to snack on
nighties not pyjamas
flannels
2 pairs of slippers
bepanthen cream
pillow
notelets and pen if you are organised enough to write thankyou notes in hospital (I will not be)
water spray for your face
tissues
sucky sweets

Argh I have lost touch in just a few hours. Happy birthday for the girls today, first of all.

Sarah, I so empathise with you about DS and DH. My DS has turned into a brat, and my DH seems to think it is ok to offer treats (as does my MIL, who thankfully we dont see that often, but who bought him a bloody choc advent calendar and he is not even 2 years old). My DH seems to be working every Saturday, which although not fun for him, is not fun for me either being stuck with sick whingey naughty DS, and DH does not have to work, just says we need the extra money (it does help, but I would rather have him home).

PK, I need some of your cleaning motivation .

Had no sleep last night, and mainly down to backache / tummy ache / bladder ache / headache and not to DS. Had midwife appt this morning, I am now measuring 36cm so only 3cm ahead of "NORMAL". She detected a bit of white blood cells in my urine, so is sending off a sample, it can be a sign of infection so have to wait til Thurs to find out.

My boobs are shrinking. A bra I bought about 3 months ago gapes now. What is going on? Can some of you ample ladies share?

Will check my hospital list and post anything essential in a mo...

zany · 17/12/2007 14:15

Thanks Bessie - wow need a lot of stuff I better get started! Had a freind who was three weeks early and got as far as her list but didnt get round to getting all the stuff. She reccomended getting the bag ready as soon as.

Egg · 17/12/2007 14:16

Gill on the bra front, I struggled last time as have small rib cage (32) which didn't change at all, but boobs were an E cup, and a lot of manufacturers didn't have my size, somewhere big like M&S is possibly your best bet. This time I think my rib cage is bigger, but boobs are smaller, am putting off getting measured until after Christmas.

Gill79 · 17/12/2007 14:23

two pairs of slippers AND flip flops! I think mine will be a little more minimalist. We only live a couple of miles from the hospital though so don't need to be quite so organised.

Thanks for the boobchat Bessie and PK. I know for once I'm very lucky with my teeny boobs - a friend just sent some pics of her topless with the newborn (which I opened at work yikes ) and I think her nipples are bigger than my boobs! Got some supported nursing vests the other day as thought they'd be likely to be more "flexible" but got them in a size 8 and the supported bit is cutting me in half!

Have added some things onto the bottom of the list

arnica (apparently, tablets are good)
anti-bacterial gel if you are in NHS hospital
cleaning wipes
multi-pack of dark underwear that you can throw away after
fan
lavender oil
make-up
water to sip

water spray for your face
tissues
sucky sweets
camera
list of people for DP to call or text
MP3 player
sanitary / maternity towels

Egg · 17/12/2007 14:25

I took my fan last time, but it never made it out of the car. Will prob take it in car and send DH for it if I need it. Forgot to write antibac gel, have packed it but it's not on list... SO BLOODY MUCH ELSE ON THERE!

Bessie123 · 17/12/2007 14:28

Oh yes, forgot about camera etc

I think the 2nd pair of slippers was because everything can get covered in blood (which is all a bit yucky). The flip flops are because people have said they don't like going into the shower with bare feet in nhs hospitals, because they are not v clean.

Egg · 17/12/2007 14:30

I think that our DH / DP / OH should really have a hospital bag too, with things like the camera etc in. My bag is overflowing and is not even finished. I basically need to take the suitcase i use for 2 week hols abroad .

zany · 17/12/2007 14:39

Egg/Gill & Bessie, Thanks for the lists really appreciate it, I've been a bit naive on what I would need. Am going to start putting it together this w/e. The number of outfits for the babe really helps as I was only going to get one set . Think I will need to get a new bag as I dont think I have one that will fit all the stuf in!

Am at work and am really bored, keep thinking about when to stop work now. Noone offered me a seat today, came in with my husband and he was really shocked. Now he thinks I should give up sooner than two weeks before due date!

Gill79 · 17/12/2007 14:41

well you are packing for 3 Egg! I was a bit naive too Zany - just thought one outfit was all I'd need for the baby..... Am going to send Egg's list to DP and freak him out!

Egg · 17/12/2007 14:46

I think I said somewhere on another thread that I took two outfits for DS last time, and he puked up loads of dark stuff about three times on the first day, so had to send DH out for supplies.

I didn't actually take any spare clothes for myself last time (except underwear etc) as didnt to pack any of my maternity gear as was still wearing it all, and so I just went home in what I went to hospital in, which is fine as long as your waters dont break / you bleed on them etc!

zany · 17/12/2007 14:47

Sent the list to DH and you know what he said - the PSP is missing bl00dy cheek!

widgetsmummy · 17/12/2007 15:02

hey ladies, you are keeping me awake at work currently... all I want to do is close my eyes... heartburn at night is driving me nuts and feel really tired! can't wait to give up full time work at the end of this week.

randomly anyone noticed they are dribbling more in their sleep? (sorry if TMI) I was always a bit of a dribbler but now I wake up with the top of my pjs damp! Another pregnancy annoyance?

on the moaning front am getting a bit fed up. LO doesn't kick so much anymore as squirm and push as though trying to escape through my belly button. its kinda uncomfy! and I just ache. house is ok, just getting used to the dirt I think! made DH clean the bathroom last night. in my defence I did a mountain of ironing that has been building for weeks.

got pushchair on Sat - Britax Vigour 4+ which is exciting. DH loved getting it all out of the boxes and putting it together. suggested we put teddy in it and go for a test-walk but he balked at that idea!

am going to write my hospital bag list now... was also thinking of taking mini version away with us at Christmas... just in case...

Egg · 17/12/2007 15:20

I got very excited getting my pushchair out and ready. It is sitting in the loft waiting to be used. I think in Jan I will testdrive it with DS in the front and some shopping in the back, to see if it is possible to actually steer it.

I find I dribble if I sleep in the day, but not so much at night. Strange.

I just ate a Wispa . I was supposed to have more or less given up chocolate...

PSP in hospital? Could be quite handy if you have a long labour. Maybe better with a gameboy though or Nintendo DS or whatever the other handheld one is .

zany · 17/12/2007 15:23

I just had a chocolate muffin, had good intentions yesterday to give up chocolate but I just saw it and it had eat me written all over it!!

Egg · 17/12/2007 15:26

Same here, I was making DH's sandwiches for tomorrow, and saw a pile of Wispas, Flakes and Crunchies in the fridge door. I have been so good at not touching them. But it shouted out "Egg" "Egg" really loudly, and then leapt out of the door into my mouth .

Bessie123 · 17/12/2007 15:30

Ach, I had a whole chocolate orange for lunch. V healthy, I don't think.

widgetsmummy · 17/12/2007 15:32

just had a twirl and a mug of milk

jooseyfruit · 17/12/2007 15:35

Happy birthday princess!!
Hope you are having a good day!
Thanks for everyones 'happy birthdays', got more off you lot than my own family!!(brother forgot/couldn't be arsed!!)

manamana · 17/12/2007 16:03

Happy Birthdays from me too! Am loving the increase in chat that's going on here - but tricky to keep up with everyone's news. Ginger - you've had such a bad time, hope tests come back ok - but as others have said at least they've picked up on it early so that they can keep you safe. On the chocolate theme - have just polished off 2nd chocolate brownie of today mmmmmmm. Very relieved to hear that I'm not the only one who's been letting the housework slip to dire levels, hadn't mopped the kitchen floor since we moved in (about 3 months!) but ended up booking cleaners to come in and spring-clean the place last week which was bliss. Am actually beginning to get excited about the idea of having a new baby (been in denial!), I took up someone's suggestion on here to follow the due in dec threads and saw some v cute newborn pics - they are so small and scrunched up

gingermumi · 17/12/2007 16:11

Hey ladies. Have been to hosp, blood pressure has lowered but still have protein in urine. Basically told to rest and see consultant wednesday. Thanks for your good wishes, it's so reasuring to share how you feel.

Our house is a tip too! Have given up worrying about it. I look at things in terms of priority - todays being wrap pressies, can't even be bothered to do that tbh! It's good to see that we're all in the same situation, i thought it was just me being pathetic!

mutha2beagain · 17/12/2007 17:00

Hi everyone,

Sorry have been utter rubbish in keeping up with posting and not staying in touch with people's news.

Have rushed through posts and am sorry to hear that Ginger and Violeta have had some nasty scares, but glad to hear that you were given good care and reassurances/monitoring. I guess now that most of us are past the 30 week mark anything can happen and we're all fair game for an earlier than scheduled arrival.

Trying to wrap up my job before I leave has dragged on - was supposed to stop at the end of November but I'm still going in and it looks like I'll be training up my replacement for the first two weeks of January, not the greatest as DS is sitting his 7+ entrance exams and the poor thing needs all the help he can get!

Also amused and sympathetic to all the niggles and discomforts. Personally I feel like a balloon about to burst and get so uncomfortable, out of breath and tired that I can't believe I've got to carry this belly round for another 8 weeks, not to mention the sleep disturbance and second coming of nausea (wasn't the first trimester enough already??) And completely bored with not being able to have a drink although must admit have knocked back the odd glass of bubbly here and there.

Still way behind in the baby preparations - feeling so drunk on Christmas shopping as it is that the thought of putting together a baby shopping list is just too daunting. So thanks guys for the postings on hospital bag contents etc., I need that sort of guidance at the moment. Anyway no doubt the credit card will get another hammering in January and will be doing much of it online to avoid Brent Cross hell which sends me into a stupor.

DH and I have still not had a proper conversation about names - must get round to that.

Got yet another scan on 28th Dec - this baby is going to be radioactive when it comes out - just to keep an eye on renal dilation issue which is still ongoing.

Well off to fridge now for a bit of food slaying.

alkar · 17/12/2007 17:35
