Hiya ladies,
Thought I'd start the new thread, hope you like the title! Best I could come up with I'm afraid!

miniandme · 25/11/2007 11:43

cool wondered when we were getting a new one lol!! I started the last one so didnt want to be too pushy in starting another
PK did you get my message on the other thread about the support belt?

alkar · 25/11/2007 16:41

I like it PK!

Pk616 · 25/11/2007 17:06

miniandme - yes I did thank you, I emailed you earlier. I would like to accept your offer. Hotmail may have diverted me to spam! the address my email came from is [email protected]. Psst, don't tell anyone my name is Alison, it's a secret (whispered in hushed tones)

alkar - glad you like it, I felt it was appropriate!

So where were we....Ah yes, I didn't get that sleep on friday night but I cat napped through most of Saturday, I was a bit cheesed off about it but I guess it's all par for the course these days!

Saw myself in a full length mirror today, bleedin' shocking!

I hope everyone's had a good weekend (and I hope everyone finds us!)

Hi there,
I'm glad someone started a new thread - I like it Pk, very appropriate (baby is dancing as I type! - well okay, and I have adopted a bit of a waddle too, much to boyfriend's amusement...)

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

Ispy · 25/11/2007 18:50

Hi. I'm new to this board. Due Feb 4th!

leesmum · 25/11/2007 19:54

Hi ispy, you are very welcome

PK thread title is very appropriate, i see you like dexter too, we are up to episode 6 series 2, i think its brilliant, i dont really watch a lot of telly, so it has to be good to keep me interested.

How's everyones weekend gone, well i hope.
I have been trying to get as much breastfeeding info i can so that i'm better prepared this time. I know some women who were lucky enough to have no problems with BF but i struggled from the start last time and was dissapointed to only last 3 weeks. So this time i am determined to give it a go again but will be better informed about what help i can ask for if needed.

Pk616 · 25/11/2007 20:28

Hello Ipsy, Welcome to our thread.

Leesmum - We love Dexter and we're up to s2ep8 so I won't spoil it for you! We avoid the actual Tv as its mainly dross (I'll admit that not all our programmes are quality, but nobody's perfect!)and adverts, so we download the things we like to watch from the us and canada. I'm going to be giving breastfeeding a go too. I met the Bflady at my 28wk check up and she gave me a couple of leaflets and told me she'd answer any questions I had at my 32ndwk check. I couldn't figure out what questions I'd have as I really don't know anything about it! I was assumming that the leaflets tell you all they can tell you until you are actually trying to do it! I suppose the only thing I've thought of as a question is what do you do about bfing if you have to have a local anaesthetic(spelling?)for, say, a tooth extraction? I do feel, and have felt all along a bit in the dark really about everything from all the pregnancy stuff and checks and needles right through to all the post birth stuff. It's all been a bit of an adventure really!

OP posts:
rozzyraspberry · 25/11/2007 20:55

Leesmum - I only managed to bf for around 2 weeks with ds1. Just got too cracked and painful and decided that dreading him waking up for a feed was spoiling my enjoymnent of him!! However, with ds2 it was easier right from the start - much easier to get him latched on. I think I was just so much more relaxed handling a baby second time round. Was still quite uncomfortable for the first 6 weeks but kept going for 6 months. So having problems first time round doesn't necessarily mean you'll have problems this time!! (fingers crossed!) I'm hoping things go ok on that front this time too as can't really be bothered faffing around with bottles!

Mossy · 25/11/2007 21:26

Sorry to interrupt ladies but it's that time of the month again! Are any of you in Merseyside and thinking about breastfeeding? Look here for details of an antenatal breastfeeding workshop this Thursday, especially for pg ladies. It's not a "sales pitch"; no one is going to try and "talk you into it"; it's more of a "how to" so that if you do go down the bf route, you'll be prepared once you've given birth.

And there's free biscuits. And tea. And coffee.

Slacker · 25/11/2007 22:37

Couldn't find the thread...not waddling yet (much) but definitely have a dancing baby atm, was just thinking last week that he's not much of a mover but over the weekend he's been squirming around like anything. Had a busy day on Friday taking the kids to London for a day out, so have taken it easy over the weekend. 30 weeks today I am, it's so exciting! Feel like I'm nearly there, except there's the run up to Christmas to get through, then the whole of January, so not that close at all really. Keep having stupid rows with DH and bursting into tears, think my hormones have gone into overdrive...

Oh well. What was that about breastfeeding and local anaesthetics PK? Can't imagine why that would be a problem, have had local anaesthetic immediately after birth more than once (stitches, ow!). Breastfed after general anaesthetic once too. I've never had any breastfeeding problems beyond initial mild soreness, so don't assume that you will have problems, but be prepared for any you do have by knowing where to go for good information (i.e. possibly not midwives or health visitors)

CountTo10 · 26/11/2007 09:05

Hi all - blimey new thread again!! The end is nigh?? I wish it was!! I'm so fed up already. I'm praying xmas is going to get me through at the moment!! I can't wait to finish work and I'm studying for an exam at the moment but all I want to do is be at home with ds preparing rooms etc cause we've got so much to get done!!
Hope everyone's well. I'm struggling to sleep at the mo and even when I do I dream so vividly that I don't feel rested!! Woke up sobbing the other night after having a horrible dream about ds. I know this sounds weird but is anyone having or had fears about what's gonna happen re giving birth. You'd think I feel prepared having done it once but I'm evenmore nervous this time round and it's more about what if something happens to me in labour, what will ds do. I know it sounds really bizarre bu I'm just so worried about it at the mo and I think that's where some of my dreams come from!!

Gill79 · 26/11/2007 10:01

Countto10 my dreams are very vivid and disconcerting too, and it must be a lot more worrying if you've given birth before and know what to expect. Never having done it before I'm in blissful ignorance / denial pushing any thoughts of labour way way down to the back of my mind. That must be healthy right? No children to worry about but I do worry a lot more about something happening to dp (or me) and how the other would cope....

LOVEMYMUM · 26/11/2007 10:08

I'm 26 weeks now (due end Feb) and after being relaxed and happy after 22 week scan (all is ok), I worry about the baby suddenly dying inside me or during birth. Its my first pregnancy. I have no reason to feel this way, its just a fear i have.

Gill79 · 26/11/2007 11:19

although it's easy to worry when you can't see or hear or always feel them just think how safe they are inside compared to the big bad world outside! I know I'm basically going to spend the rest of my life in an anxious state about LO so trying not to let it take over now. Know it is really silly and impractical but hate the idea of the baby and dp being in the same car without me, or me in the car with the baby in case something happens and one of us is left alone. Sorry for being horribly depressing but must admit the idea of having so much to lose is terrifying. I worry so much as it is just about dp cycling across London every day, driving, doing something silly so how am I going to cope with having two to worry about?

CountTo10 · 26/11/2007 11:33

You do have your moments when you think 'christ what if this suddenley happened, how would I get to them' etc but to be honest it's not something I dwell on a lot as you would send yourself slowly insane. I think you're also so busy just surviving as a parent and enjoying everything that goes with it (most of the time ) that thoughts like that get pushed right to the back!!!

CountTo10 · 26/11/2007 11:33

That said clearly I am in paranoid panic mode at present!!!

Jo9977 · 26/11/2007 12:14

Love the thread title!

Welcome Ispy!

Had fab weekend actually buying and assembling stuff at last! Now have cot and Ikea unit (both assembled by me while DH cleaned...he is so not a DIY'er!) plus lots of bits and pieces. Feel a lot less panicked now...just hormonal, low, irritable, tired and restless!!!!

beansprout · 26/11/2007 12:59

Thread title just about sums me up at the moment. I am carrying disco child and it's really pretty uncomfortable!!

Fears/concerns are very normal and very healthy. Dh has had some dizzy spells lately. My main concern is not him but ds being with him when it happens, dh passing out and ds being abducted . No room for rational thought here!!

ruva · 26/11/2007 13:56

Hi ladies
Due feb 27 or maybe earlier due to placenta praviea -dh promised to go with me to ikea on sat, when the day came he refused saying its trash, but we don't have money i told him we have to compromise he said ikea was a false economy- he went to waitrose bought 2 pieces of cheese cake when i asked him for another piece he said oh it was expensive so i only bought two. I am the only person who seems to see our money problems he does not. I am fed up- i hope i survive mil as she is staying this weekend and we will discuss what she can buy for our nursery This is what comes to marrying posh boy.

Jambuttie · 26/11/2007 14:29

Hi Ladies

Hope you are all well

Just a wee note to say miniandme in hozzy again- her waters went this morning!!!!

She's had another doze of steroids prior to her being t/f to a hozzy with 2 neonatal cots- will update you when more info comes thru

excitedm2b · 26/11/2007 14:47

Best of luck to miniandme and her twins! Hope all is ok.

Great thread title Pk! I am most definitely a zombie and this baby is definitely developing some muscles in there judging by some of its kicks!

manamana · 26/11/2007 14:58

oh, jambuttie - send my love to miniandme, what a shock! hope she doesn't have to travel too far to find the special care beds and that all goes OK, is she around 30 weeks now? i remember when my friend's ds arrived suddenly at 31 weeks, he's a strapping 4yo now but it was a very scarey time. Puts all my grumbles into perspective this morning, am going off to give myself a good shake and get on with getting dinner ready. Will keep checking for good news.

CountTo10 · 26/11/2007 15:05

Oh thinking of miniandme and the twins x

Gill79 · 26/11/2007 15:08

fingers crossed - she must be 30+1!
