@Aaaaa1519 and @livingwithbees thanks, makes me feel better 😂 I’m going to try and get booked in for early next week!

@aaaaa1519 hope your daughter is having a good night’s sleep!

PurplePansy05 · 14/07/2021 14:32

Hi girls! All well here, my baby boy is growing well and he's now at 90th centile, estimated at 3.04kg atm. I am booked for the C-section at the beginning of August at just shy of 39 weeks, meaning that hopefully I will be able to share some news with you in less than 3 weeks now 😊 Scary, but also a relief. Good news is that I'm not going to have insulin injections unless GD gets out of control again, but the diabetes consultant was very pleased with my recent results and happy for me to stay on my current dose of Metformin.

Overall, I felt some staff were thorough and good at listening, some were good at just giving me leaflets, and the MW that I was sent to to discuss the details of the section really didn't have time for any conversations and sort of fobbed me off by saying everything will be discussed over the phone at my pre-op consultation. This is due to take place the day before though, so it looks like I mighr be having a last minute mad rush repacking some stuff etc...not ideal, but she really didn't have time to talk to me today 😔 Nevermind...we're getting there...xx

HopefulB · 14/07/2021 14:48

That sounds like a good outcome @PurplePansy05, even if it’s a little frustrating you could have a more in depth conversation with the MW today.

Slept better last night, and off work today, so life’s a whole lot better Smile

biscuitcat · 14/07/2021 15:00

@PurplePansy05 so glad to hear you have a date booked - how exciting! Can't wait to hear the lovely news of your son being born 🥰

After a fairly crappy week last week, I'm feeling so much better now - taking Friday off was one of the best decisions I've made practically the whole pregnancy I think, I'm now feeling happy and confident I can get through to finishing next week, and actually enjoy my work for that time. Still can't wait for baby to be out as I'm sick of being so big and uncomfortable, but that feels like a big win for me 😊

PurplePansy05 · 14/07/2021 15:07

Thanks girls @HopefulB @biscuitcat 😊 Not long left...Glad you're both feeling good now. I found out today I lost 2kg in weight too, what a bonus in a third trimester, eh! So I've gone from 7kg up at 29 weeks to 10 at 33 weeks and 8.3 at 36 weeks. Madness, safe to say I didn't expect that, one positive of Metformin I guess! xx

Daffodil21 · 14/07/2021 15:13

@PurplePansy05 glad to hear and glad you've got your date booked! 🎉

Thank you @Daffodil21 😘 I haven't missed anything I hope, you've not had yours booked in yet? Hope it all goes well for you too 💐

I'm exhausted now, it's been a long morning, should have taken this afternoon off! xx

BertieBotts · 14/07/2021 15:19

Just seen on another thread that this is 99p on kindle today if anyone wants a cheap read, it's supposed to be quite good. The chapter list is viewable on the preview.

Weird.

BertieBotts · 14/07/2021 15:20

Why won't my link work?! Well anyway it's the positive birth book by milli Hill.

Daffodil21 · 14/07/2021 15:31

@PurplePansy05 nope, not missed anything here! No date booked and not actually confirmed they've agreed to it. My next consultant appointment is Monday so hopefully it will be confirmed and booked then!

I did some volunteering this morning - was sat down for most of it but my feet are definitely feeling the extra weight lately 😂

Need to get up and do some batch cooking! I won an Aldi supermarket sweep trolley dash the other day (so much fun!!) and managed to get a lot of meat so I'm using a lot of it to prepare meals to make life easier after birth!

PurplePansy05 · 14/07/2021 15:38

I need to pre-cook some food too, especially that I will need to self-isolate in advance. They didn't tell me a specific no of days or anything, but I will be getting a covid test few days before the section. As it stands, DH won't be getting it, but we're not taking risks in case rules change again and we'll be self isolating for probably 10 days in advance or so. Meaning I better sort out online shopping! xx

biscuitcat · 14/07/2021 15:52

@BertieBotts I'm about halfway through the Positive Birth Book at the moment, it's excellent! I also really rate her other one, Give Birth Like a Feminist - made me almost look forward to labour!

BertieBotts · 14/07/2021 16:01

See I bought give birth like a feminist but it starts off with loads of horror stories and I can't figure out when that will all stop Confused Could you give me a chapter?? I would love to skip ahead and get to the empowering bits but I'm just finding it hard to read at the moment, especially quotes about stillbirth etc - I had to stop reading.

Whatshouldbemyusername · 14/07/2021 17:10

@PurplePansy05 excellent news about the date my love! You must be so relieved now!! Good for you. X

Hope everyone is ok today. Literally had to call in sick again today. I woke up and was ok but went to shower and was feeling dizzy after and went to lie down and just couldn't get up at all. So called in sick. I've got annual leave booked for Friday so I'm looking forward to this!

BertieBotts · 14/07/2021 17:47

Soo exciting to have a date!

biscuitcat · 14/07/2021 18:36

Ahh sorry Bertie I'm not sure quite where it changes - I read it fairly early on in the pregnancy so it might have been I was less sensitive than I might be now, if I reread when maternity starts I'll share my thoughts again!

@Whatshouldbemyusername sorry to hear you're feeling poorly - sounds like it was the right decision to call in sick, so important to look after yourself.

Inmypjsagain · 14/07/2021 18:40

@PurplePansy05 brilliant! So excited for you thay you have a date 🎉 glad to hear no change in medication either!

@Whatshouldbemyusername you poor thing! Low blood pressure do you think? Hope you’re feeling better!

Had my growth scan, bump is off the chart small but baby is 27th centile so all seems ok, I seem to just be carrying small 🤷🏼‍♀️ I also popped into the day unit to have my blood pressure taken, my hands and feet are so swollen! My feet are struggling to get into my trainers so I was worried about pre eclampsia but it’s all normal. I guess we all swell in the final weeks?

Re food- My leaving present from work was some baby stuff and Cook vouchers. Cook are basically a frozen food delivery service and you can buy a new parents bundle with a 10% discount, might be worth a google for any people who can’t be bothered to batch cook (like me 😬) for “nice” frozen meals x

Whatshouldbemyusername · 14/07/2021 18:48

@biscuitcat @Inmypjsagain thank you my darlings. Yes I do think it's low BP. In a way wish I would have started Mat leave early. 2 weeks to go from Monday next week. I guess it's not too bad. Then 1 week annual leave and Mat leave from 9th august.

@Inmypjsagain aaaw as long as they say baby is fine some people just carry small and that's ok. Maybe ask OH for a foot massage. I definitely need one tonight! X

lucyrp · 14/07/2021 18:59

Got some last bits for my hospital bag today and did so much walking I actually thought I might be going into labour I felt horrendous 🤢😩

Magik01 · 14/07/2021 19:45

I decided to cut my front hedge today to save some money instead of getting someone in to do it and I’m feeling it now!!

Glad you’ve finally got your date @PurplePansy05 it’s a relief once it’s booked in isn’t it? I’ve been researched “natural” c sections, it might be something your interested in? It where you can choose if you want to see the baby being “born” and have immediate skin to skin and they can put all the wires on your back rather than your front. There’s a few other things as well that can be done but they are the main things I think.

Hope everyone had a better nights sleep last night. I also had a bad night that night. Feel like I must wake up at least 10 times a night. I suppose it’s getting our bodies used to having no sleep already. 😂

Also I’m so sorry. It I can’t remember who posted, but I hope your little one who was up in the night being sick is feeling better!

Magik01 · 14/07/2021 19:46

Also random question for you all, I think I’ve nearly finished my hospital bag but unsure why snacks to take. What food is everyone taking? 😆

Daffodil21 · 14/07/2021 19:52

@Magik01 I've got peanut butter cereal bars, crisps, tuc biscuits and haribo 😂 going get my husband to bring me some fresh healthier stuff in when the time comes though!

Interested what everyone else has/is packing!

lucyrp · 14/07/2021 19:59

@Magik01 I think one of them was me, he managed to go to school today as his temp was down so think he's getting better bless him. He didn't want to miss the last couple of days at school before the holidays as they've got some fun stuff on

RandomCatGenerator · 14/07/2021 20:03

Is anyone else having an elective C section? Do you know is it nil by mouth?
