@livingwithbees could be baby's head pressing a nerve?

Another joining the sleepless night club. DS has a bug, so was up a lot coughing. Took him for a PCR this morning and had to do it twice because of a crappy plastic bag. Not impressed and DS was beyond miserable from it.

Today was supposed to be a nice relaxing day of annual leave... now spent at home with an isolating poorly boy x

Ava50x · 13/07/2021 11:56

@alittlexmasmagic that sounds rough! Hope your DS is feeling better.

I'm sorry we're all struggling without decent sleep, i'm part of the gang too! Woke up about 20 times this night for no apparent reason and feeling knackered... and got a bloody backache today so not very happy! Hoping to get through the day in one piece... Last week at work so that is keeping me going!!

Daffodil21 · 13/07/2021 12:10

Sorry to read about all the terrible sleep you've all had! I hope you manage to take it a bit easy today and get an early night tonight.

Just had my midwife app - I asked for the strep b test and she's so lovely and let me do the swab there and then. She's sent me for CTG monitoring because his heart rate was measuring high when she checked twice. Haven't been hooked up to the CTG before so not sure what to expect! Just getting to hospital now so hopefully all will be ok

Inmypjsagain · 13/07/2021 12:34

@Daffodil21 me too after my appointment, heart rate was 172! Currently hooked up. Also got a growth scan as bump is still minus centiles. If it’s like where I am they’ll put 2 bands round you with a monitor for baby’s heart beat that’ll go on your stomach (baby will likely kick it) , a clip on your finger for your heart rate and a clicker for every time you feel movement. A little print out will come out of the machine next to you which shows the variation in heart rate. I can see on the machine baby’s heart rate is about 160- hopefully yours will be ok too!

(I know I’ve been tagged in some posts, sorry not caught up yet, will do after trip to hospital is done!)

Daffodil21 · 13/07/2021 12:37

@Inmypjsagain that's exactly what is happening, thank you. The first measurement my midwife took was 177 then the second was 172, but seems to be in line with movements on monitor so far. Hope yours goes ok, let us know x

Looks like we’re all in the same boat regarding sleep, been waking up at 5am for no apparent reason. There seems to be a nasty bug going around can’t shake off this cold and dd has been throwing up her milk all week. Exhausted is an understatement. Hopefully we all catch up on some good sleep soon

Daffodil21 · 13/07/2021 13:03

All ok here. Hope you are too @Inmypjsagain x

Inmypjsagain · 13/07/2021 13:04

@Daffodil21 I’m off now, happy with the heart rate which ranged from 150-165 mainly on the Ctg machine. Just finding out whether I’ll be able to get a growth scan today or whether I’ll be back in tomorrow/Thursday. How are you getting on? X

Inmypjsagain · 13/07/2021 13:04

@Daffodil21 Cross posted, great to hear all good 😊 xx

livingwithbees · 13/07/2021 13:10

@biscuitcat @alittlexmasmagic both of these make sense, thank you!

BertieBotts · 13/07/2021 13:31

Am also on a ctg right now! I was supposed to have an appointment tomorrow but less movement last night and then even less today made me just come in to check and they've brought my appointment forward. Everything seems normal but they did note I'm quite dehydrated which might be causing an issue. Must remember to drink more in the mornings Blush I have coffee and then nothing until about 2pm!

BertieBotts · 13/07/2021 13:34

Normal for ctg is about 120-160 I think but will tend to be higher if they are moving around. If it shows about 80, it's probably slipped and picked up your own heart rate. They check for contractions as well because if the heart rate dips during a contraction that can indicate distress.

Inmypjsagain · 13/07/2021 13:56

@PurplePansy05 interesting it was 170- I had the same today, as did daffodil. Glad the hospital was happy though, always a relief. It was my 6th occasion on the darn ctg machine today… no one offered induction thank goodness 😂 Do you think it’s likely you’ll get a date tomorrow?

And those threads, @livingwithbees @biscuit @WolfMother326 @Whatshouldbemyusername @biscuitcat @alittlexmasmagic I’m sure we’ve all spoken about TTC in a pandemic and clearly reasons we went for it! But it’s the judgment, people really think you’re an idiot for getting pregnant now and it totally gives me the rage. Hormones are too much now, I cried over split milk yesterday evening. Why?!

And bad sleeps for everyone last night- so sorry, it’s really tough isn’t it? Why do pregnant women not complain more! It’s so hard but we’re nearly there!

Sorry- I’ve forgotten who typed what on the last page but the upwards feeling sciatica sounds odd- sounds nerve related or potentially part of PGP? That really hurts my lower back but I wouldn’t describe it as shooting.. worth a midwife call?

And I think it was @livingwithbees with the pubic bone pain, if it’s around the area then I’d assume that’s also part of pgp or just heavy bump problems! I still see the physio and describe a pain around all around my pubic bone region and I’ve been given exercises for pgp so sounds like they’re lumping it all together!

@BertieBotts we’re all busy on the ctgs today! How are you getting on? Hope all okay- keep us posted! X

PurplePansy05 · 13/07/2021 14:08

Praying for the date tomorrow @Inmypjsagain. I just don't want this to go on an on, not feeling great and getting more and more worried about all the what ifs, movements etc. I just want him out tbh. I then switch to looking at the lovely nursery and feeling blissful, but overall I feel done now. xx

BertieBotts · 13/07/2021 14:42

Yes everything good here! Had lots of checks again.

Doctor says baby is huge which she sounded a bit worried about! 3070g / 6lb 12 and 51cm and I'm only 35 weeks! I also have to redo my blood sugar test because the lab messed up and ran the wrong test or something. So I'll go in tomorrow to do that anyway.

lucyrp · 13/07/2021 15:45

@alittlexmasmagic I've had to do a LFT with my son today and waiting for that before I have to book a PCR. Couldn't think of anything worse. Oh wait I forgot I left the sofa for a few minutes to go for a wee and he bounced my gym ball and hit the wax burner and I now have wax all up my wall and over 2 pieces of furniture ☺️😩

Daffodil21 · 13/07/2021 18:10

@Inmypjsagain glad ok with CTG. Did they do a growth scan today or do you have to go back?

OP posts:
Whatshouldbemyusername · 13/07/2021 18:10

@BertieBotts glad alls ok with baby. Hope it's not too big x @Inmypjsagain @Daffodil21 glad alls ok with your little ones too x

@PurplePansy05 keep us posted once you know more tomorrow x

I had my 34 week appointment and they said everything is ok. My hospital doesn't offer the group B strep test so I will order and take one between week 36-37.

My husband did his blood test today and hopefully by Friday, latest Monday should know whether he has the thalassemia gene or not and I will get my confirmation in 3 weeks too.

My next appointment with consultant and growth scan is at 36 weeks. Till then I've just been advised all is well x

alittlexmasmagic · 13/07/2021 18:18

@lucyrp that sucks. Put a few layers of newspaper/kitchen roll over the spilt wax. Then use a coolish iron over the top. Increase the heat until it melts and absorbs. Should work on the wall but avoid doing it on the furniture if it's solid wood as you might need to treat it after x

biscuitcat · 13/07/2021 19:02

@Inmypjsagain that was me with the back pain - I've sent the midwife a text and hopefully she'll get back to me!

And for my second medical question of the day (apologies for massive TMI!) - I've been peeing loads the past few days, and only really tiny amounts. It doesn't really sting when I pee but it does feel a bit sting-y/ pressured in between. My urine sample last week had a trace of leukocytes, so I'm wondering, is this a UTI or just pressure from baby's head being low? And also, should I call the hospital or just wait for my midwife appointment on Thursday?

BertieBotts · 13/07/2021 19:21

It could be a UTI. I wouldn't wait for Thursday. See if you can get a GP appointment in the morning, or see if any pharmacists near you do the self-test for UTI and if so you could go to out of hours tonight. I never get the stinging when I wee with a UTI, only in between.

Inmypjsagain · 13/07/2021 20:57

@PurplePansy05 got everything crossed you get that date tomorrow!!!! 🤞🏼

@BertieBotts glad you’re all good!

@Daffodil21 no, back tomorrow morning for the growth scan, I’ve had a few growth scans because of the small bump and baby has been between 30-40th centile, I’m hopefully just carrying small!

@biscuitcat sorry, I will blame baby brain! Are you still suffering with the back pain? Imperial trust have a pregnancy fit playlist: youtube.com/playlist?list=PLazCbfp_tqxyetmFIAKhQ46gJckvBDEl0 The physio recommended some, the ab ones might be good for a back (obviously I’m not qualified but some of the stretches might feel nice!) And with the pee business, I could have written the same. I’m going often but not alot, at one point it felt exactly like cystitis but it passed relatively quickly and I’m sure baby was bouncing on my bladder. My pee test at the midwife came back clear but if yours weren’t I’d do as Bertie says. A tip the midwife gave me today if is if you’re not peeing a lot when you feel you need to go, lean forward on the loo, pressure on the bladder might release more pee!

I’m really having issues remembering poster’s names today but I hope all of you with sicky little ones are all doing ok! Still can’t imagine being pregnant with another child, you’re all superstars.

I am obscenely warm today and my feet!!! They’re so inflated, they look like they’ve gone up 10 sizes! I want to book a pedicure but I’m a bit embarrassed
At the state of them!

Aaaaa1519 · 13/07/2021 22:52

@Inmypjsagain I went for a pedi with my purple swollen feet a while ago they didn’t even blink, go for it I feel like we could all do with some pampering about now

Hoping everyone gets some good sleep tonight also since its not looking too great here, dd seems to have an ear infection she’s never been this inconsolable and I’ve never felt so useless

livingwithbees · 13/07/2021 23:46

@Inmypjsagain I had a pedi a couple of weeks ago, absolute bliss being installed in a massage chair for an hour and pampered! Would certainly recommend it, they didn’t give a stuff about the state of my manky feet!

@Aaaaa1519 bless her, ear infections are rotten. It’s so stuffy at the moment too which can’t be helping.
