@lucyrp 39+4....

Bit of an odd one - has anyone been having problems with their wrists? I'm really hoping this is a weird pregnancy thing!

@Daffodil21 oh! I guess that makes sense. Isn't it odd how we get feelings about things 🙈

Daffodil21 · 24/07/2021 19:00

@lucyrp I just hope I'm wrong!!!!

@Daffodil21 I'm sure you'll be fine, I hope baby comes at 38 weeks ish for me but have a feeling I'll be disappointed and go overdue so I hope I'm wrong too 🙈

What sort of problems? Clicky or tight feeling?

Daffodil21 · 24/07/2021 20:36

@lucyrp fingers crossed we're both wrong 😀 New plan is mum will stay with me in the air B and B mon-fri so my husband can save his hol and there will be someone with me at all times. Then DH will join me Friday night for the weekend if we're still going then (CS is the Monday), and mum will go back to ours to look after the cats. Just got to make it to next Monday first!! Obviously this plan may change but feel so much better now we have that in place.

@livingwithbees just achey and painful. I thought I was just sleeping on them funny but it's been weeks now..! I'm pretty sure I haven't changed the way I sleep with my hands/wrists... I had a little google and it suggested carpal tunnel syndrome in pregnancy, so hopefully it will go away soon after birth!

lucyrp · 24/07/2021 20:45

@Daffodil21 as for the wrists thing I wake up every morning with dead hands and I have to wait w good few minutes before they come back to me and I'm able to do anything with them. I put it down to carpal tunnel too. Oh I've completely misunderstood this, I thought you'd only booked the air bnb for one night before your c section and didn't really see how that would help - a week makes much more sense 😂

Aaaaa1519 · 24/07/2021 20:52

Hello everyone, hope everything is going well

been having stronger pains today a lot more intense than the usual BH, thought it might be the real thing but they died off. Probably should get a move on with my packing.
Also starting to get stressed with DH not making a move on to get baby’s nursery sorted- still needs painting and crib needs assembling. Think he’s still in denial that baby will be here soon 😐

BertieBotts · 24/07/2021 21:27

Only got the last few things to be done here. Picked up cot from my friend today. DS2 has predictable already tried it out :o Hospital bag is packed and I'm just realising I don't have any nursing support bras or tops... too late to get some before Monday. I might order some from H&M online. I must have some somewhere in the house!

I am twitching about not having enough newborn sized vests. Trying to hold on until he is born. We can always buy more then. Or I can just move into 0-3 which we have hundreds of. But I might just find myself in Primark or C&A on Tuesday if I'm not careful :o

DS2 is getting really unsettled every time something like the cot coming in happens. I think it's sinking in that it will be a big change for him. Just fingers crossed we can weather the toddler storm.

I can't tell what position baby is in any more. It felt like today I had hiccups really low down and then I thought the bit under my ribs felt more pointy like a bum rather than head but I just can't tell! Although to be perfectly honest I feel these "end" lumps at either side half the time so probably he's just spinning around perfectly happy in there Confused

Daffodil21 · 24/07/2021 21:31

@lucyrp good to know - let's hope it buggers off soon!

@BertieBotts why Monday..? Are you booked in for then? Sorry, you will have already said 🙈

@BertieBotts how old is your ds2? dd1 is 2 and used to a lot of attention everywhere she goes, I’ve been telling her about baby but I don’t think she really gets it. Dreading her reaction when baby comes home 🙆🏻‍♀️

I’ve never been able to work out baby position, everything to me is a foot or head lol mw says she’s been head down since 32 weeks so it’s probably the bum or back I feel

livingwithbees · 24/07/2021 22:10

@lucyrp @Daffodil21 ahh yes, I had carpal tunnel in my first pregnancy, completely lost the sensation in my little finger too! It resolved itself really quickly after I had DD, the recent heat probably hasn’t helped much either!

livingwithbees · 24/07/2021 22:12

I’m clueless as to baby’s position, scan on Thursday confirmed it’s head down but I have loads of pressure in my left hip which I have no idea what it is!

Jessicapebbles · 24/07/2021 22:55

@Daffodil21 Yes I have also suffered Carpal tunnel before and it very quickly went after having her! You can do some stretches etc which you can find online that will help ease it a little bit.

@PurplePansy05 I am so surprised at all of that!! It’s crazy! I got given a pack of stuff at my pre op so no idea why they’re doing it over the phone for you.

Glad things are all looking well for you though! Hope you’ve been having a few more movements today! Xx

PurplePansy05 · 24/07/2021 23:50

@Aaaaa1519 I'm feeling the same tonight. The tightenings got really strong actually, I've started checking the timings, but they seem to have calmed down. Sounds like many of us are going through very similar things at dimilsr gestation which is reassuring. I've also had different discharge today, milky/creamy and when I told the MW she said it's a sign of my body getting ready for labour 😳

@Jessicapebbles it's crazy how there are different rules in different hospitals. The MW yesterday said her husband had it done before an "abdominal surgery" but they don't do it before c-sections Hmm Uhmm, OK.

@Daffodil21 All I will say is trust your gut. I've had a feeling since I've known this pregnancy was viable that my son would come early even though it will be my first full-term birth and lots of people were saying nah, unlikely. I had no idea I'd be having issues towards the end either. Lo behold, he's coming early. Mother's instinct is real.

And on that note can I just again say that if you feel worried about movements, please, please get checked. I went in today knowing my son is fine because he's been his usual self throughout the day. In 15 mins on CTG he moved 21 times. Yesterday there were 2 movements in just under 45 mins. Only today I've actually seen and believed I wasn't over-cautious or making things up. Luckily he is ok and if course regular monitoring is reassuring. But never, ever neglect your instinct, baby is likely fine, but it's best to check and you ARE right to notice. No need to question yourselves. xx

PurplePansy05 · 24/07/2021 23:55

@Inmypjsagain I'll be working tomorrow/Monday. By the time I got back yesterday and started packing my hospital bags it was late. Today was super busy again, tomorrow looking busy too as our renovation is near the end and lots to do. So it's still hanging over my head but I will get this done. It's so busy with everything going on and daily hospital visits that I feel I'm still in a full time job on maternity leave xx

BertieBotts · 25/07/2021 00:58

I'm having an ECV on Monday so even though the chances are very low it will put me into labour, I just wanted to have everything ready just in case, I'll also be 37 weeks so seems sensible anyway!

I just remembered that I have a few items that I have saved to tie dye! So might do that as an activity with DS1 tomorrow.

DS2 is very nearly 3. So much going on in his little head right now. It must be so hard for them.

DS1 has coincidentally just done Sex Ed at school so has loads of questions about childbirth etc! He wanted to know if the ECV was preferable to a c section. I am not worried about having a c section but I was able to explain about a vaginal birth being very painful at the time but normally only needing a few days recovery. Whereas a c section doesn't hurt at all due to the spinal block but the recovery is much longer. It's probably about the same overall really but I'm a bit worried about not being able to lift DS2 and having to be really careful about him not injuring my incision etc. So it does seem like a vaginal birth would be easier even though it is not the best experience to go through at the time. Apparently his teacher told them you forget the pain because of the joy of children :o I said no sorry, everyone says that but I think it's such a big fat myth!

RandomCatGenerator · 25/07/2021 05:54

Right guys, back pain. I am in agony and have been for about three hours. Any thoughts?

alittlexmasmagic · 25/07/2021 06:03

@RandomCatGenerator have you got a Tens machine?x

RandomCatGenerator · 25/07/2021 06:08

Nope?

biscuitcat · 25/07/2021 06:44

@RandomCatGenerator I don't know if it'll touch the sides with what you're describing, but I've found paracetamol and a bath make a huge difference, as does putting a hot water bottle (or frozen hot water bottle) on my back xx

@PurplePansy05 you're so right about mother's instinct - you just know when something feels different, even if you almost can't put it into words. Sorry to hear work is still hectic despite having 'finished'! I hope you can get everything you need done - and remember, you and baby are far more important than work, if you'd gone into labour/been admitted to hospital they'd have managed somehow xx

I'm feeling very sick and tired of pregnancy at the moment - I was a groomswoman at a wedding yesterday for one of my really close friends and had so much fun, but it was such a long day and I'm utterly exhausted, and despite that was still up almost every hour to pee and now can't get back to sleep, and feel quite hungover despite not drinking - it's like the worst of all worlds, rubbish sleep, 'hangover', but couldn't even stay late and enjoy the dancing because I was dead on my feet!

HopefulB · 25/07/2021 07:16

@RandomCatGenerator, heat pad? Warm bath? Bouncing on Birthing ball? Cat/cow releases? Hope it feels better soon.

@PurplePansy05 I was wondering how the Reno was going. No water downstairs for us 3days last week in the heatwave was a real test, especially given I’d had a little trip on the stairs the week before, so properly paranoid about falling.

@BertieBotts I’m really interested in how you find the EVC, I was really reassured by how the midwife described it, and how closely they look at position of everything as they try to turn, so I hope it’s all Positive for you!

PurplePansy05 · 25/07/2021 07:16

@BertieBotts Good luck with your ECV tomorrow! Hope it's successful and your littlest one will turn to the correct position for labour. I can imagine with a toddler your thoughts about C-section include different considerations to those of us who have no young kids at home. I am sure whatever happens you'll be fine either way, just take different precautions - but I hope it goes your preferred way. xx

@biscuitcat I don't know how you pulled that off at this stage, honestly am so impressed. I could not imagine squeezing into wedding guest clothes now and performing such a key role that takes it out of you at best of times. No wonder you're shattered. Feet up today, literally! Let DH take care of you. I am unpacking lots of stuff now as we finally have our kitchen nearly ready, as well as more storage available and it's hard wotk too, but I got DH to get the boxes up for me on worktops etc, or take stuff out of them. I can't bend over hundreds of times a day, no way!

@RandomCatGenerator Where is your pain and how would you describe it? Is it still there?
I've been having on and off back pain in the last couple of days, yesterday I've identified I am actually feeling my son's movements there, they're just awkward and causing me slight pain in the centre of my lower back, despite my posterior placenta. MW said not to worry about thid type of back pain. Could you try gentle stretches? xx

PurplePansy05 · 25/07/2021 07:27

@HopefulB It won't be fully finished before his arrival, but everyone is doing what they can to finish the big stuff and leave the cosmetic changes till later. I say cosmetic, we're waiting for things like doors and windows to arrive which obviously are two big jobs, but considering we've gutted the entire place and redone it, this is actually quite minor and nowhere near as disruptive as most other works we've had done. Lots of sympathy for you, we had no bathroom for nearly a month earlier on, then no kitchen for 5 weeks until now and now no washing machine as we're waiting for it to be reinstalled in the new space hopefully next week. Living through it and planning around it is an utter nightmare and I'd never do this again when pregnant, so I don't envy you being at the stage of key works like these. But when I walk in to the bathroom and kitchen now, I feel blissful. We will be doing finishing touches for months probably but I am so glad it's actually getting there before he comes and I'm sure you will be too. xx
