Actually my dressing gown is off limits - my mum's been borrowing it and she's on HRT and wears it after using her hormone cream, so probably not the best thing for me to use last minute without time for a wash 😂

I'm guessing it's acceptable to walk around in pjs during the day..?!

Bobbles! Anyone with long hair, you might want to pack bobbles, even if you don't normally wear it tied up x

lucyrp · 22/07/2021 21:04

@Daffodil21 oh yeah totally. I wanted to go into hospital into my pjs but my mum made me change into actual clothes to walk in and as soon as I got my room I changed back 😂

HopefulB · 22/07/2021 21:14

Hi all,

I wonder how Smurf’s getting on?

MW for me today, bump size and baby HR good 👍 Currently breech, if that’s still the case at 36week scan they’ll refer me to Breech clinic. She chatted me through EVC too. Also basically decided that if not turned my booked induction @40 weeks becomes a booked section.

biscuitcat · 22/07/2021 21:33

@lucyrp you sound much better at packing light than me 😂 my list for my hospital bag is as long as my arm! I need to finish packing mine tomorrow as we're away for 2 nights for a wedding this weekend and I think it would be a big risk to do that without things ready! Though I don't think there's really much chance of me going into labour, I'm certain I would if we were disorganised...

@Whatshouldbemyusername congratulations!! What an achievement! You must be over the moon

I finally finished work today! So happy - the last two weeks I've worked at least 50% more hours than usual to get everything finished so I'm completely wiped out, but feeling relieved. I wish I could open a bottle of wine with DH to share and celebrate - hopefully not long to go now though!

BertieBotts · 22/07/2021 21:51

Yes I hope the lack of updates from Smurf means she's very busy :o

Absolutely fine to walk around a hospital in pyjamas.

YY x 1000 to hair bobbles. I had no idea how much this would bother me first time and a midwife had to make me one by cutting the wrist off some rubber gloves! It worked but OMG getting it out....

I've decided for my ECV I'm going to ask the following questions before they start.

  • Is the cord OK or do you think it might get tangled up?
  • Is he already in my pelvis?
  • How hard are you going to try? I've heard you tend to know fairly quickly if it's going to work or not.

Then if I get any answers I'm not sure about I might abandon it completely. Also if it's too painful or I get a bad feeling during it.

Because they think it should be fairly straightforward and has a good chance of being effective (for me), I think it's definitely worth a go, but I don't want them to push for it above and beyond what's a reasonable effort really. I'm not that bothered if I have to have a c-section, I just think it's worth having a go to see if we can persuade him to go head down first!

I found this podcast today which is about vaginal breech birth, if anyone is considering that and it has some useful info about ECV in it as well as the history of breech birth management. I found it quite useful so thought I might share. It absolutely hasn't changed my mind about not wanting to attempt VBB, by the way! But I found it a really interesting listen.

Daffodil21 · 22/07/2021 21:58

I just stole my neck fan from my hospital bag - highly recommend it!

Ava50x · 22/07/2021 21:58

@BertieBotts that sounds like a very reasonable plan!

Daffodil21 · 22/07/2021 21:59

Good - I was hoping that would be the response to the pjs during the day question 😀

Smurf123 · 22/07/2021 22:11

Thanks everyone for your well wishes.. my phone ran out of battery this morning.
Well hospital is apparently incredibly busy so there still isn't room on the induction ward but they have done the balloon induction and sent me back to the regular ward with regular monitoring. Encouraged me to go for lots of walks so dh came over and we walked outside for a bit earlier and he brought me a fan, earphones and my phone charger which I'm very grateful for.
I have been have contractions off and on since last night, they really kicked off earlier every few mins and then suddenly eased off again this evening so I expect I'll still be here waiting until the morning when they say they will break waters. Though they told me last night that's what they were going to do. Everyone says something different but for now I'm ok and happy with the regular ctg checks that baby is doing ok and that's the most important thing!
My mum has thoroughly spoilt ds all day and stayed with dh until late this evening and will go back in the morning to stay with ds again. It's my first time ever away from him so I have found that hard but he has coped remarkably well. Though he thinks I'm at work earning money for toys 😂😂 and has reminded me that he would like a hot wheels toy 😂
My plan for tonight is to hopefully get some sleep

BertieBotts · 22/07/2021 22:17

❤❤ So glad you are feeling positive and have some kind of plan. Sleep sounds like a very good idea!

Magik01 · 23/07/2021 07:30

I have packed a dressing down this time, but only a really thin summer one. Figured I’d prefer to have one than not and it’s no trouble if I don’t end up using it!

@Smurf123 hope you managed to get some rest last night! Are you on a ward with a few other women?

PurplePansy05 · 23/07/2021 07:39

Yes, I'm the same as @Magik01. Mine is a cotton gown, takes less space than a hoodie etc., it's lighter and longer and that's kind of what I thought I'd like for comfort. xx

Smurf123 · 23/07/2021 08:04

I am @Magik01 though everyone is in their own wee curtain made cubicle so don't really see anyone else
I managed a bit of sleep off and one when I put my audio book on ... don't think I've actually heard very much of the story mind you 😂
Just waiting to hear today's plans. Hoping to get things moving a bit more. Had a good cry this morning when I phoned to say hi to ds and he told dh he didn't want to talk to me on phone he just wanted me home .
He did then chat a little bit kept saying I'll see you soon and couldn't understand how the car is home but I'm not (dh came and got it yesterday so he has it when he needs it)

Smurf123 · 23/07/2021 08:08

Also was near in tears because I knocked my slice of toast from breakfast onto the floor so I think it's just tiredness and pregnancy hormones going haywire I should add 🙈

Smurf123 · 23/07/2021 08:10

Hope everyone else is keeping well!
I didn't bring a dressing gown and it has been incredibly warm but then randomly at one point last night I got a bit shivery and really would have liked a hoody (only lasted about 10 mins so not a huge deal but yea) otherwise mostly just in pjs or a pair of yoga joggers from Dorothy Perkins and T-shirt .. everyone here is made to wear ted stockings when admitted so warm also

Whatshouldbemyusername · 23/07/2021 08:47

@Smurf123 it's nice to hear from you. Am sorry you're so tired. Hopefully things do get moving. Try get some rest in the meantime. X

@biscuitcat thanks darling! Glad you're done with work! I have one more week to go! Can't wait x

Also for anyone interested I got these from Etsy for like £9-11. They are 100% cotton and good for breastfeeding so will use them postpartum too.

@Smurf123 thinking of you and hope things start progressing real soon!

BertieBotts · 23/07/2021 10:15

Oh it's horrible being stuck in limbo. Hopefully they can give you some info at least soon.

Whatshouldbemyusername · 23/07/2021 12:07

Hey ladies.

I still have to do my own research but has anyone done anything on placenta encapsulation?

PurplePansy05 · 23/07/2021 12:39

Has anyone notice a change in movements around 37 weeks? I am now 37+1. What To Expect says there may be a change because of the size of the baby, and in any event my son is bigger than average so he has even less space there. I feel occasional swishes but not exactly kicks like I used to, and there are less swishes than there used to be kicks IMO. I am debating whether to get checked over again or if this change is normal at this stage Confused. I've only gone in yesterday and all was fine. I'm so confused. xx

Jessicapebbles · 23/07/2021 13:15

@PurplePansy05 I noticed mine changed from jabs and kicks to more rolls around a similar time. But I would say that if you’re worried or unhappy always go in to get checked 💙💙 xxx

BertieBotts · 23/07/2021 14:02

A friend of mine absolutely swore by placenta encapsulation and said it really helped her.

When I looked into it there isn't really any evidence it has any benefit at all. It's not harmful though.

PurplePansy05 · 23/07/2021 15:18

Second afternoon in a row on CTG at the hospital...why does this keep happening now 😔😭 I am so, so, so fed up, I can't do this anymore 😭 xx
