They check temperature for covid when you come in.. I will be astounded if it came back as normal! It's just the weather though

BertieBotts · 15/07/2021 21:29

Primark have these amazing waffle shorts in at the moment which are only €3 and I've been living in them. They're really loose and comfy although if I'm also wearing too-big underwear they are slightly indecent if I don't sit quite right :o But perfect for slobbing around at home and they work fine for going out and about if you're not sitting for long periods.

Username that's fantastic news.

lucyrp · 15/07/2021 21:43

@BertieBotts are they the pj shorts ?😂 I've just bought 3 pairs of pj shorts for £3 each for my hospital bag to go with my nursing tops instead of nighties.

@Whatshouldbemyusername I also got some invis knickers from primark which are better looking but don't think they'll wash the same as the good old marks and Spencer cotton ones 🤣

Smurf123 · 15/07/2021 21:56

I so wish primark had a website!!
Our covid numbers have doubled on the last 24 hours so I'm really trying to avoid the city centre as i know it will be really busy.. Everyone takes holidays on the built fortnight here too

Smurf123 · 15/07/2021 21:58

So what do you do when the ctg suddenly turns off while you're on it.. I mean literally just stopped screen black. Only been on 15 mins or so.. So I wait on someone coming back or unhook myself and walk out to try and find someone 🙈

PurplePansy05 · 15/07/2021 22:09

@Smurf123 Oh bugger! Did they give you the other bit to call the MW? Or is it also connected and not working haha?

@Whatshouldbemyusername Only just seen your post, delighted for you Flowers It is such a scary time when you just don't know how/if the baby may be affected, I felt absolutely awful for weeks and still do sometimes but just trying not to think about it. It's a very unnecessary stress, especially later on in pregnancy, so I'm glad you know now and can relax more.

Ginger feet bath was mentioned up the thread, I must be a weirdo, but this pregnancy has put me off ginger completely, I've started hating the smell of it and any food with it, the thought goes right through me still. I wonder if this is going to change pp xx

BertieBotts · 15/07/2021 22:11

You should have a call button somewhere on the bed, but it probably doesn't matter, someone will be in after a few minutes and will know what to do then. Worst case scenario they'll just have to restart it. Possibly 15 mins will be enough time on it anyway.

Sometimes the CTGs have a remote link to the midwives' station anyway so they can see what's going on, it might just be the screen that's playing up and the machine is still doing the trace.

Smurf123 · 15/07/2021 22:23

Nope no call button 🙈midwife came back after 15 mins.. Seems it ran out of battery. So she plugged it in and got me to stay on for another 15 mins, it's come back all ok and I've felt a few movements on it. But she said because of history of pregnancy with ds she wants me to wait and see Dr and possibly make a plan of care?

Smurf123 · 15/07/2021 22:28

@PurplePansy05 have you tried reflexology? I tried it with ds and wasn't so sure so only went once but tried it again with this pregnancy and have been going every few weeks and actually find it quite good. I'm going back on Monday when she can start touching the points for labour etc.. I'm hoping it can get things started.
The woman who does it though is also a midwife which I find reassuring too. She does the reflexology an evening a week.

PurplePansy05 · 15/07/2021 22:33

@Smurf123 A plan of care? In what sense?

Yes I've done reflexology before. I really enjoy it but not planning to do it now, I dontneed things to be sped up now my section is in the diary. I will be back to it after the birth I think xx

Smurf123 · 15/07/2021 22:38

@PurplePansy05 I have no idea that's all she said.. As she then ushered me back to the waiting area saying hopefully I wouldn't be waiting too long, bit confused now

Magik01 · 15/07/2021 22:43

@Whatshouldbemyusername what fantastic news! So pleased for you, must be a weight off your shoulders!

@Smurf123 hope everything is okay and someone can clear up why you need to see a doctor! I suppose better safe than sorry though.

I have another growth scan tomorrow so fingers crossed all is okay. Also ladies MY SOFA IS IN HORAY! The attempted delivery today and the guys got it in, said the previous ones were contractors and just didn’t even try. So pleased, as I was proper stressing that I wouldn’t have a sofa for the baby!

BertieBotts · 15/07/2021 22:49

It probably means they will just chat with you about the history and whether there's anything they can/should/you want them to do WRT this pregnancy. I wouldn't worry - it should be a helpful thing not a problem :)

BertieBotts · 15/07/2021 22:50

Lucy No I don't think so, they weren't in the PJ section in my primark, they were downstairs with all the ridiculous teenage clothes. PJs at ours are all upstairs. I did raid the PJ section as well...

Smurf123 · 15/07/2021 22:53

Thanks @BertieBotts hopefully that's all it is.. I'm happy for them to keep a close eye. Movements definitely aren't the same I've felt some and am reassured heartrate was all good etc on the ctg but the movements are different from what they have been.

Whats a normal pulse? For us? They did say mine was high.. They first midwife at triage said it was high but not extreme. She said it was 98? The second mentioned it being high too and asked was it always high.

BertieBotts · 15/07/2021 22:58

About 80-90 I think is a normal pulse rate in pregnancy.

I've had this too the last few weeks. Days where the movements just feel off / wrong / different. Then I duly go off to get monitored and everything is fine. My doctor last time said sometimes when they're having a growth spurt it means they move less because they are conserving energy, but you never know what's actually causing it so always best to get checked out just in case. The doctor at the hospital said the same, that you can't know if they are OK so always best to get checked out.

I never know what to do afterwards - whether to keep going back if they stay in the reduced pattern or just to accept that as the new normal or what. I always forget to ask. It's always gone back to normal within a couple of days for me, but those couple of days when I'm kind of in limbo are a bit weird.

Ava50x · 15/07/2021 23:17

@Whatshouldbemyusername delighted with your news! So, so happy for you, couldn't have asked for better!!

I'm a huge fan of waterbirths, like I said, hoping for another one this time and hoping those wanting to have one will get it too!

@Smurf123 hope all is good at your end!

Smurf123 · 16/07/2021 00:15

So I'm just home again. Apparently my pulse was going up to 122 then settling round 98 from what I can see in my notes. The midwives seemed a bit concerned about that the Dr didn't mention it.

He was very nice and decided to do a scan just to check growth so baby seems to be growing well at this point. Estimated about 3.1kg or there abouts so almost 7lb! If right that would be 2lb heavier that ds was when he was born at 37 weeks. Dr mentioned that I must feel alot bigger than I did last time around.

He says he still wants me to come back on Tuesday for the planned antenatal appt for follow up and to come back if still feeling less movements.

Hope everyone manages some sleep this evening!

PurplePansy05 · 16/07/2021 00:32

I'm not sleeping @Smurf123.

Glad you're home. When you say about your pulse, were you quiet or talking/moving when it went up? Little things can really affrct it now. Your LO weighs similar to my son 😊

Movements freak me out now, generally. Reassuring to know we all feel similar, but still we have to get things checked if needed.

Exhausted, but too hot and also annoyed I cannot find any nice summer maternity dresses. How difficult can it be to find something plain or summer pattern, midi or short, and just cotton or jersey?! I seriously need some dresses for after the section and can't find anything! Ordered some, they arrived looking shit and way too big. Think I need to order in size 10 now cause 12s don't suit me anymore, what?!

Please can someone throw some ideas where to buy from? Xx

Ready2020 · 16/07/2021 00:45

@PurplePansy05 I don't know your style really but I got this one and it's great

www.newlook.com/uk/womens/clothing/dresses/maternity-blue-floral-tie-neck-frill-midi-dress/p/677229749?_cclid=Google_Cj0KCQjwub-HBhCyARIsAPctr7zyQLd0_bly0RV0UcPjGq1m8q2y14PXERJI7tYAf2Iy4mJvqMWgm7waAszGEALw_wcB&extcam=UK_PPC_PLA_Designer_NC_Google_DV_m&gclid=Cj0KCQjwub-HBhCyARIsAPctr7zyQLd0_bly0RV0UcPjGq1m8q2y14PXERJI7tYAf2Iy4mJvqMWgm7waAszGEALw_wcB

Also bought this from Joules as a treat. Its not maternity but I've been wearing it a lot

www.joules.com/Women/Clothing/Yellow-Bee/Riley/Print-Jersey-Wrap-Dress?id=214277%7CYELLBEE

I'm still up as its too hot plus I'm worrying myself about my itchy feet and hands. Think I'll call the midwife tomorrow about it if it keeps me awake or is still there tomorrow. I'm pretty sure it's just the heat but better to check.

@Whatshouldbemyusername glad all is well!

I think I need more post birth clothes as well to bring to the hospital. I've a couple of nighties and maternity dresses but I might get some nursing dresses. Though that's if so goes well with breast feeding. I don't wear jeans in the summer so dresses are best.

lucyrp · 16/07/2021 06:16

I was also panicking about what I'm going to wear post birth as had planned to just wear y strappy nursing tops with joggers then remembered it will be really hot so think I will end up relying on smock dresses etc but then not great for feeding so have no idea. I'm hoping I won't be in the big pants for too long either and will be back in my thongs after a couple of weeks 😖

Whatshouldbemyusername · 16/07/2021 07:00

Good morning ladies. It's a lovely sunny day in Wembley Park today. I've got my maternity photo shoot today and even though am totally sleep deprived and my eyes have bags, looking forward to it!

Thank you @BertieBotts @Magik01 @Ava50x @PurplePansy05 - it's the best news I've got recently considering how late the tests were done x

@Magik01 hope the growth scan goes well. Soooo excited to read about your sofa. Finally! That must be a relief too. Didn't take them too long to sort it out x

@Smurf123 glad alls well and hope it stays this way for Tuesday appointment too. That's definitely a healthy baby you've got 🥰

@PurplePansy05 maybe check ASOS and new look that's where I got my dresses from x

For all those asking about nursing tops I got them from eBay from a seller who stocks mothercare products. X

HopefulB · 16/07/2021 07:05

@Whatshouldbemyusername, great news, must be a relief.

@Smurf123, hope baby starts wriggling more obviously for you! Glad all was well. Pulse can increase when you are hot as your heart pumps more blood to skin to cool you down. Mine was certainly high when it was v got a few weeks ago. Resting HR is now 76 for me which is about 35% higher than normal. So 80-95 doesn’t seem unreasonable, which is probably why the doc didn’t mention.

Clothes wise I got a great dress in sale from Tiffany Rose, as a treat for my birthday in May, worn that a bit. Other jersey dresses are all non maternity, from Boden, SeaSalt
Or Masai. I’m thinking I’d like some really lightweight non maternity linen dungarees for after birth.

PurplePansy05 · 16/07/2021 08:17

I'm normally a Zara/Warehouse/Oasis girl, but they either don't do maternity wear or went bust and then cheap after the Boohoo deal 😒 Anyway, thanks for the recommendations! New Look is slso my go to, but couldn't find anything in the colours I was after and in my suze. I've actually ordered some non-maternity dresses and 2-3 jersey maternity ones from Asos and Dorothy Perkins respectively...and a few nursing bras...and nice sandals...£200 later 😩 But I do feel I need so be comfortable, it's hot, I will be nursing, sod it - comfort is key.
Really struggling with the heat and big bump size now and I suspect stuff I wear now won't necessarily be comfy post section.

Can anyone who had a section please let me know if full briefs M&S type are a good idea after or should I be looking at low cut underwear to go underneath the scar, rather than over it, please? All cotton of course xx

wimbler · 16/07/2021 08:30

@PurplePansy05 definitely get ones that go over the scar. No knickers are low enough that they go under the scar. They cut surprisingly low and you don’t want anything near the scar or dressing for a couple of weeks at least. i had the M&S full briefs and they were great. I wore them for the first but then switched to the midi style. For full briefs I went for a size 14 (usually a 10) and a 12 in the midi and they were plenty big enough.
Also use a pillow in the car home between you and the seatbelt as cushioning!

@Whatshouldbemyusername great news about your bloods. What a relief!

It’s going to be a scorcher here for the next few days. Hopefully not too hot b it the paddling pool is going to be used I’m sure!
