Hi

Thanks to those who've given their name opinions, Sweetbean - I'm glad you said Archie, dh isn't sure but I am trying to convince him as I like it so I'm glad someone else does too.

Coby & Chuffed - sounds like you've both been having tough times recently, hope things improve for you soon.

Our builders have returned after 3 weeks off and ripped out the remainder of our kitchen today, it will take a week to fit the new one. I had to empty all the cupboards on my own in a rush this morning as dh wouldn't do it yesterday as we didn't know for sure when it would be taken out although i knew this would happen. Now everything is stuffed in boxes & i don't know what's where & I'm feeling stressed today!

Fleurie76 · 07/01/2008 20:18

Hello all,
Blimey not had time to post for a while and there's loads more now on this thread!
Just got the dates through for NCT classes and they start on the 6th of Feb until the 19th March(!) I'm not due until the 23rd of May, does anyone else think that's too early to have classes ? Not that there is much choice as the local NHS trust don't offer any free classes where we live and I only just scraped on to NCT.
BlobsMummy - whereabouts in Kent are you? Also happy belated birthday, I've just had a birthday too and I know that having a close to Christmas birthday can be a bit of a drag - purposely planned baby to have a decent birthday (yes, shallow I know!)
Indigo Blue - must say I love Oliver but Harry is a very cute name too.
Chuffed - triplets!! Congratulations!
Can't wait for scan next week, getting very impaitent, I seem to be the last one!

KangaAndRoo · 07/01/2008 21:06

Hi all. chuffed hope youre ok hun xxxxxxxx

Had my scan on friday and wow!!! lovely seeing how much little one has grown. got a pic for my daughter too!

My bump is rather lazy. dont feel much movement until I go to bed but it was my birfdee yesterday and wow...it never stopped!!!! even yawned on the scan lol

hope youre all well xxxx

mumofk · 07/01/2008 21:18

Chuffed, my pal had her appendix out when she was 30 wks and expecting twins- I wonder if pg with multiples and appendixes (or is it appendices?!) don't mix. BUgger about your scar though, hope the infection calms down but my pals just got stretched and stretched and didn't get better until after delivery. Hope you get sorted soon.
Fleurie-NCT classes, well I went after 30 weeks and wasn't ready to think about most of it-I don't think its how many weeks you are, its how you feel about birth and whatnot. I did actually find it all really useful though (must have filed it away for when I stopped going euugghh- me doing that?!) and reassuring to hear midwife sayign stuff when I was labouring that I heard in the class.
Indigoblue- good luck with kitchen- sounds like my idea of hell
Good luck all,
mumofk

gingerwench · 07/01/2008 21:19

I've got my scan booked for 25th Jan - it's a private anatomy scan (not available on NHS in my area). My bump is quite wriggly but still not enough for DH to feel. I'm enjoying having a proper bump although my friends tell me it is quite "neat" for 19 and a half weeks. My NCT classes start 11 March and I'm due 29 May.

Coby Babylove21 Mrstresshead

Thank you all so much for your kind words of advise and support!
I have suffered from depression since i was 15 and am now 28 I also had bulimia nervosa and went through a long stage when i would self harm (i know i sound like a head case but am actually quite normal now [blush ) so i to am really used to talking about it and am normally really familiar with all the signs and symptoms and am able to cope quite well with it. I have been on and off medication since i was 16 and have taken a vast array of antidepressants but i stopped taking my last lot in Nov 2006 as i was advised that i would need some time off them before trying for another baby which i wanted to do in the new year of 2007 but had a MC in march so didn't try again until August when i was lucky enough to fall first time again!
Anyway my point is that when i was PG with DD i felt really well physically but i did suffer from terrible anxiety i used to be terrified that my DH would die and that he would never get to see his baby and i used to sit at home waiting for him to get back from work and would only feel better when he was with me (i never told him about these feelings), and now with this one I'm a totally paranoid that something will happen to the baby and that i will all go horrible wrong or that something terrible will happen to my DD its so bad that i really don't won't to let her out of my sight my IL want to take her out on wednesday and i'm a wreck about it ! I haven't told my DH about it this time either as i know that he would just say(in the nicest way) that its silly to feel like this and i know it is i just can't control it !!I know that im being totally irrational but i can't control it and i don't won't to go back on any med's because i know its just because im pregnant and i will be fine when the baby is born.

Sorry for the massive ramble and if anyones got any tips on getting rid of anxiety i would be so grateful Thanks agin for all Your support !!

Fleurie76
My scans next week to on the 15 Jan and baby is due on the 24th May so we are really close when is your Scan date ?

blobsmummy · 08/01/2008 09:17

Fleurie - I live in Gillingham now, although born and bred in Gravesend. Not the poshest part of Kent, but nice enough round our way!

Chuffed - yuk yuk on hearing about your scar, hope it's sorted soon.

DH and I have booked up a couple of nights away in Paris next month as our last little quality time together before new babe arrives. We did this before DD arrived and it was really great to focus on us rather than work, family, and everything else life gets filled up with! My BIL and SIL have paid for the Eurostar tickets as our Christmas and birthday presents, and my sister has paid for the hotel (600m from the Eiffel Tower!) for our pressies. Looking forward to it already!

It's been years since I've been to Paris, and as we only have a couple of days I don't fancy lugging myself around to see all the big sites I saw a few years ago. DH has never been, so we'll def do the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, but does anyone have any suggestions for nice things to do in February that are a little of the beaten track? My top idea at the mo is to sit in a cafe people watching and generally putting my feet up, but I'd be grateful if you'd share any little gems that you may have found there.

sorry mummblesmummy forgetting your previous name!

fleurie with ds the NCT classes were really early so i opted out but the hospital did them - does your hospital not run any at all?

also has anyone done a tour of their hospital yet?

must rush the loft guys are due soon.....

macaco · 08/01/2008 10:21

Hey blobsmummy, I'm from very near Gravesend and went to school in Dartford! Small world!

blobsmummy · 08/01/2008 12:47

jacob - i won't go on the hospital tour this time as did it only 20 months ago with DD! Also planning a home birth and have every intention of staying well clear of the place! Think I may still go to the hospital classes though - always worth meeting other people who are about to go through it at the same time as you.

macaco - Dartford Girls Grammar were our rivals (I went to Gravesend GG) in the league tables! I think they always trounced us though!

Hello blobsmummy and macaco - fellow Kent Mums! I'm originally from Orpington but now living in Tunbridge Wells (and not I'm not 'disgusted from Tunbridge Wells' before anyone asks! )
Sweetbean - my scan date is the 16th of Jan so we are a day apart on both! I don't think you are being irrational about feeling anxious about your DD, preganancy plays havoc with your emotions, perhaps you could sit DH down and just chat through, I'm sure if he sees how worried you are and also about his reaction he would be sympathetic? I hope you feel better about it soon.
Thanks for comments on NCT class dates mine do seem early but I'll have to stick with it I think as there is no hospital option at all (which I think is scandalous) you have to pay and NCT is it! I'll try not to have a panic attack when I am confronted with the realities of birth a bit early though....
Bump has been a bit lazy in the day recently but last night started kiicking merry hell out of me and DH finally got to feel it so very happy about that!
Hope you all are well

mrsstresshead- completely understand about struggling, though you're coping with struggling with loads more than me! Do you get sick pay? You can go on sick leave with drs note until 36 weeks, its only then they can force you to go on mat leave.
I'm having the rest of this week off self-cert, then Dr has said I can have a sick note next week if I need it.
I'm planning on leaving work 23rd Feb- I'll be just under 31 weeks and that is using a weeks holiday. I'm also planning, though haven't asked yet, to use the rest of my hours holiday as 2 hrs a day so I can keep going. I'm managing my day at work -with lunchtime sleep-, then being a heap of jelly on the sofa in the evening- DD said the sofa is where mummy lies down! Don't like that kind of association with sofa already- I'm 24 weeks right now.
5 weeks holiday, if you can work reduced hours each day could make for much shorter days if your work can be flexible about you taking it? You sound like you need a rest, so maybe taking DD out of nursery as soon as you finish may not be the best for you- though I completely get the financial incentive there!
Could you say working elsewhere would be detrimental to your health for stress reasons? How supportive do you think your GP be- itsletters from them that can push employers- standing all the time sounds like something you GP can say you can't do- but I don't know anything definate about this area. Isn't there a legal area on here for good advice too?
9 months mat leave with pay, the last few months (unsure how many, does it depend on employer?) are stat mat pay only, around £113/ week. Can have 12 months off and still have right to return to work, but that does depend on being able to afford it!
Good luck,
mumofk

sorry to those sufferers depression and anxiety. And everyone struggling with work.
Boys names- I don't have a clue, my DS used a family name, coz we struggled to decide.

sweetbean · 09/01/2008 09:40

HI everyone and thank you so much for all you kind words and understanding
I did sit down with DH last night and tell him everything and he was AMAZING just said well i think im normal what with hormones etc don't worry everything will be fine and was just brilliant !!!!! i feel so much better for talking about it with him as we don't usual keep much from each other.

With regards to the work and Mat leave situation there are a couple of thing i would advise the first would be to go and find out from citizen advise just what your employer HAS to do for you !!! i went through a tough fight when i was preg with DD and thank god i didn't let them get away with a bloody thing I also ended up working until 39 half weeks and felt that the extra time that i had with DD was so worth the struggle.
I really do understand that it can be horrible to work and be pregnant and the best thing to do is whatever makes you the happiest but don't underestimate how much you will want to stay with your little bundle after its born so the longer you stay at work the more time you have at home.

PLEASE don't take that like im telling anyone off because im not!!!!!!!!.I just know how hard it would have been for me to leve my dd and as first time mum's some of you might not realise just how amazing its going to be !!!!!

Really hope i haven't patronised or offended anyone so sorry if i did, please feel free to shout at me

asicsgirl · 09/01/2008 13:47

Hallo everyone
on the topic of depression - I've had (fairly mild) bouts of anxiety and related depression over the years. No medication but I did have some CBT - cognitive behavioural therapy - for a while. CBT has been shown (in clinical trials) to help quite quickly with certain types of depression/ anxiety. (It's one of the few 'talking therapies' that has been shown to have results - and relatively quick ones for some people). It has a bit of a mixed press at the moment as the NHS seems keen to prescribe it for everything, and it doesn't work for everyone. But thought I would mention it.
If any of you are the self-help type there are two books that I found really helpful: Mind over Mood and Feeling Good. Good luck...

Re. maternity leave - I'm planning to go off at the beginning of April, as I'm due 1 May (not 5 May as I thought before, but not sure how to update the stats list, sorry!). Hope I can last that long as I'd like to stay off for as long as possible after the birth.
