I had my 32 week growth scan today, and all looking good which was a relief! Also booked induction in with consultant for 10 August, I really have found this pregnancy tough so feels good to have an end date. Just need to get through the last couple of weeks at work now and then I need to try and rest and relax a little before the baby arrives!

Ava50x · 23/06/2021 14:01

In my experience, bleeding is heaviest in first 24-48 hours, then gradually tapers off. I'm not much of a bleeder though.
I have always suffered skin sensitivity from the pads for the first couple of days. After that seem to get used to them and they're fine.

Jessicapebbles · 23/06/2021 15:02

@PurplePansy05 I’m glad that your scan went well and that he is looking super chubby!! - I hope all of your tests went well today.

I had my scan yesterday and her weight is starting to dwindle off, dropping from the 50th centile to just above the 10th and weighing in at around 4lb. This same thing happened with my first and she was born totally healthy, just small. Maybe that’s just how I make them! Another scan in 2 weeks to monitor her growth, currently booked in for section on 30th July however it might be brought forward a week if her growth continues to slow.

notinthestarsigns · 23/06/2021 15:13

@Jessicapebbles if the same happened with your first then as you say may be nothing to worry about but good that they’re going to keep an eye on it.

Jessicapebbles · 23/06/2021 15:14

@notinthestarsigns I’m not too worried, she is certainly healthy as she kicks up a storm 24/7! I will be intrigued to see if she grows a bit more in 2 weeks though x

lucyrp · 23/06/2021 16:20

@MM1993 I'm the exact same only wear pads to bed when I actually didn't bleed much through the night and I hate wearing them.

I found disposable pants a waste of time. Bought a pack with my first and never used them

alittlexmasmagic · 23/06/2021 16:46

@MM1993 you can get thong style period pants but not sure how absorbent they'll be x

Inmypjsagain · 23/06/2021 17:47

Oh this talk of post baby knickers is good! I don’t know what size to go for though… John Lewis do post c section pants that are meant to be supportive.

As for pads I was recommended lil lets but I’ll look at the natural ones. As an aside, all you ladies who don’t wear pads… so you just wear tampons and bare knickers? I wear a tampon and a pad- my heaviest days I’ll go through a super plus tampon in an hour so wear a pad for overflow, I’d leak all over the place otherwise! It’s type of thing I’ve not asked anyone before so my mind is kinda 🤯 at thought of no pad!

Had my growth scan on Monday (at 32+6), baby weighing 4lbs 5 which I think is 28th (?) centile? And he was bouncing round all over the place. Still transverse though. His femur length is shorter than average which I find odd, I was a long baby and I’m 5ft 10 and husband 6ft 1 so assumed our baby wound be long too! Sonographer said our height now had nothing to do with it and better to go by our size as babies. We were both light but long. Must admit his profile looks interesting… I hope his nose isn’t too big in real life 😂

@PurplePansy05 quite the growth spurt! Hope results come back all clear.

@notinthestarsigns oh a date! How exciting! Countdown is on!

@Jessicapebbles yours is booked too! Exciting (though make want to bite my nails as mine isn’t even approved yet!!)

Is Anyone feeling really hormonal at the moment? I’m just over 33 weeks and have spent a good chunk of today crying, so much so I’ve given myself a headache. I’m not really sure why just that I feel the need to wail!

Inmypjsagain · 23/06/2021 17:51

Oh and our nct is still awkward af, I got some conversation going in the group chat after asking for next to me recommendations but it dried up pretty quickly. Got 2 peanut meetings this weekend and 1 for next week too, so hopefully they’ll be okay 😬

lucyrp · 23/06/2021 17:52

@Inmypjsagain yeah just a tampon no pad! A tampon and a thong!

Ready2020 · 23/06/2021 18:01

Has anyone experienced bad diarrhoea/cramps just as part of pregnancy in third trimester? It's been a bit like this over the last couple of weeks but the last day or 2 has been worse. No real reason for them as I've not eaten anything dodgy that I know of.

I think baby has turned again! So feet down now. Next midwife appointment isn't for 2 weeks so I hope she shifts again soon and isn't stuck like this.

Inmypjsagain · 23/06/2021 18:39

@lucyrp my mind is blown by this lol i think I could get away with it on my lighter days but even then I’d be worried!

@Ready2020 I’ve had the opposite problem, constipation, but I’ve had that the whole way through. If you’re worried could you text your midwife?

notinthestarsigns · 23/06/2021 18:44

@Ready2020 I’ve had this lately, I did mention it to my midwife on Monday at my appt and she said that it isn’t unusual for bowels to play up again the third trimester and that it’s your body telling you to slow down. My baby is also breech again so hoping she turns before the next scan.

I bought the big M&S knickers in my last pregnancy and they did the trick for after but will probably buy again but a size up given I will be nearly full term with this baby, well hopefully anyway!

Ava50x · 23/06/2021 18:58

@Ready2020 i've been experiencing cramps and diarrhoea this entire pregnancy but its definitely getting worse now in third trimester. Its driving me crazy but in a way its better than constipation...

Spoke to GP who told me to do stool sample to make sure there's no bug, otherwise just a hormonal thing and to make sure to drink enough. Not very helpful I suppose...

MM1993 · 23/06/2021 19:15

@Inmypjsagain - yup just a tampon haha my first day has always been heaviest but not heavy compared to some people - however I did have an implant so that may have made it lighter although thinking back I would have still only used a tampon and no pad pre implants so I guess I must just be lucky 🤷🏻‍♀️

HopefulB · 23/06/2021 19:40

@Inmypjsagain, I think it’s such a shame we don’t discuss these things more, think how much we could all learn from each other’s experiences and how much quicker problems could be diagnosed if it was normal to discuss periods?!

As a teenager/young adult I’d use a super tampon every 4-6 hours d1 and wear a liner. Step down to regular d2, reduce frequency of change to ~8hrs d3, pads day 4, just a liner d5.

Post coil it was more like a change every 6-8 hours, d1 super, d2 regular, d3 lite, d4 just liner.

So excited that some of you have actual dates!! Got my 32 week scan and consultant appointment the week after next.

BertieBotts · 23/06/2021 19:56

Disposable pants agree a waste of time, just get big supermarket pants in a size up.

But I did love the Always Discreet Pants last time. V comfy. I mentioned them which started off this whole discussion but I think they got buried on the last page so just to say again!

I have reeeeeally light periods, sometimes I can get away with just a pantyliner. I tend to use a cup though with nothing underneath. Just find that the most comfy.

biscuitcat · 23/06/2021 20:09

@Inmypjsagain I'm another one who just uses a tampon for my periods! Weirdly, when I came off the pill my periods got quite a bit lighter (they weren't massively heavy before, but really dropped off to being incredibly manageable), I have no idea why, but it was a nice bonus!

I've just bought a pregnant support belt to arrive tomorrow (thank the lord for Amazon prime), I'm hoping that'll make a difference as I'm feeling so uncomfortable. At the bottom of my bump it feels like the muscles have been pulled and it's harder to walk as I don't want to risk over stretching it. Has anyone else found them useful? (Please say yes!!)

alittlexmasmagic · 23/06/2021 20:11

@biscuitcat I've been wearing the one I had from last time. It's good when standing up but not comfortable for sitting/driving. You might also need a thin vest or something underneath x

Daffodil21 · 23/06/2021 20:27

@BertieBotts I've added those to my list, thank you! I think they're quite expensive on Amazon atm compared to supermarkets etc, but I only had a quick look earlier

Inmypjsagain · 23/06/2021 21:16

Wow- i’d ask my mum and we both agreed we’d had heavy periods but the fact that people can wear just a tampon is shocking to me! I’d spoken to my friends and we all say ugh period but I’ve never asked frequency! Honestly day 2 and 3 of my period, tampons are hourly and because I’m not going to the loo on the nose every hour I’d wear a nighttime pad too. It without fail wakes me up twice in the night too…. By day 5 I’d be on regular but I’d still have a panty liner on at least. Will be interested to see what my periods do post pregnancy as i think mine might be heavier than I think?

@biscuitcat my physio gave me a bump tube that’s good but I reckon a support belt looks better!

alittlexmasmagic · 23/06/2021 21:33

@Inmypjsagain the bump tubes are fab!! If I could find one to buy anywhere I would. I've got a physio call on Friday and I hope they send me one.
The support bands aren't nearly as comfortable and a lot more restrictive x

lucyrp · 23/06/2021 22:17

@Inmypjsagain omg you must be so heavy! I don't even bleed during the night, I wear a pad incase but there's never anything on it in the morning 😨 tampon changing I'm with whoever said 6-8 hours, and after day 3 I really don't need to wear them but hate wearing pads so wear smaller tampons x

Millymay13 · 23/06/2021 22:36

@BertieBotts do you recommend the maximum protection always pants? There’s so many levels but I’m guessing we’ll want the maximum ones?

Re:periods I guess I’m in between everyone. I use the green tampon plus a panty liner for the first 2 days changing between every 2-4 hours to start, then gradually work down to the lightest purple tampons in the day and a panty liner at night. So interesting to hear about other people though, people just don’t discuss periods do they? How are we meant to know what’s ‘normal’ or not if no one talks about them?

PurplePansy05 · 23/06/2021 22:50

Glad to know I'm not the only one with the shits 🙌 Nearly as glorious as after Cyclogest, I've gone a full circle. I find iron tablets do this to me in the 3rd trimester.

I'll try to drink and walk more, I've not been as active as I should be recently. Might alleviate digestive issues.

@Inmypjsagain I'm like you, but don't bother with tampons, just pads and changing them every 1-2 hrs on days 1&2, sometimes 3 as well. I too wake up in the night to get changed. Then it gets lighter. My periods have become a little bit better after my MCs, I hope a full term birth will make them more normal again! xx
