News flash: We have a name!! It only took 32 weeks :o

alittlexmasmagic · 21/06/2021 18:56

@BertieBotts that's great news! We're still struggling for a boys name. Not sure we will agree any time soon x

Daffodil21 · 21/06/2021 19:23

@BertieBotts yay! Feel free to share it here if you'd like but obviously no pressure!!

Ava50x · 21/06/2021 19:52

Still not sure on a name here!!
if i'd be having a girl I'd choose Ava- my favourite girls name! Yes, that's why I have it on my username but for another boy we are still playing the merry-go-round and not sure. I suppose we'll get there at some point!

BertieBotts · 21/06/2021 19:54

I'll share it when he arrives :)

Daffodil21 · 21/06/2021 20:03

@BertieBotts looking forward to it 💙

Morning ladies!
Anyone got sickness returned? Feel so tired and run down 😥 also having Braxton hicks which make the sick feeling 1000 time worse! Just needed a moan this morning!

Whatshouldbemyusername · 22/06/2021 07:49

@Hoares3 good morning darling

I've got low back pain today and been tired and run down since yesterday as well. So tempted to call in sick and stay in bed all day!

Try resting as much as you can x

biscuitcat · 22/06/2021 07:58

@Hoares3 morning lovely 💛 sorry to hear you're feeling rough, and moan away. I felt really sick the other week, but for me it's not been as consistent as in the first trimester. Have been really sore though, and it's rubbish - very much on the countdown now to finishing work. I keep wishing I had decided to finish a week or two earlier, but sadly diary is now full until I leave so no chance of changing my mind (plus I'm sure I'll appreciate the extra time with baby at the other end!).

Just take it easy and maybe have a treat which won't make you feel more sick to help (bath with nice smellies?) xx

Ready2020 · 22/06/2021 08:12

I'm away on my wee holiday with OHs family. His brother and wife have a 3 and 1.5 year old. The 3 year old is going through the complete asshole stage 😂 (my nephews went through this too so I know it's just a thing) and as he is not mine I can't really tell him off properly (just a vague, don't do that please which he just ignores).

We're staying in a lodge and it's an upside down house with a large balcony. He was throwing his toys over the balcony and making his grandparents go down and get them. They aren't great at telling him off either (parents were out). The 1.5 year old of course starts copying his big brother. So tempted to say to to him anything you throw over there is going in the bin! Clearly not the thing to say but it's tempting.

Also the youngest has a really bad cold and is coughing so much he threw up his dinner. His big brother then threw up either in sympathy or because they just like copying each other just now. Clearly just a run of the mill day but as someone who is a slight emetaphobe it was a reminder of what I'll need to get used to.

Spa day today though. Its a gorgeous place we're in however it's all on a big hill so need to power up the hips and soak them in hot water later.

alittlexmasmagic · 22/06/2021 08:22

@Ready2020 Id be tempted to meet halfway and say if they do it, then they could break or get stolen. I tell my DS stuff will go in the bin all the time 🙈.

Sooo jealous of your spa day!!

I've booked every Tuesday off now until August, planned to spend today going swimming amongst other things. Instead DS has to self-isolate from nursery so I'm with him instead, although I'm hoping DH will have him for an hour so I can still try for a swim x

lucyrp · 22/06/2021 09:27

Just got back from our weekend away as a 3 which was lovely and got into our car this morning and it has well and truly broken this morning. Going to be a couple of thousands to repair 😭

alittlexmasmagic · 22/06/2021 09:34

@lucyrp that's not what you need! Can you scrap it and buy new? Or do enough to get it running, then trade it in?x

lucyrp · 22/06/2021 09:35

@alittlexmasmagic it's only a 63 plate car and we've only had it a year and a half so far ☹️ bought it when we were ttc so it was big enough for DS and the baby x

alittlexmasmagic · 22/06/2021 09:44

@lucyrp oh no! Might still be financially better to trade though, cars are such a lottery 😩 x

WolfMother326 · 22/06/2021 09:47

Hello everyone. Is anyone else having a 32 week growth scan? I had my 32 week midwife visit yesterday and it wasn't especially smooth. they said my fundal height is suddenly low (it was 28 inches at 28 weeks, and now its 30 at 32 weeks) and sent me for monitoring. Everything was fine with the baby's heart rate and I should get more info at the 32 week growth scan on Thursday. Even though everything was fine I got a bit freaked out and ended up sleeping the rest of the afternoon, called in sick to work.

@Hoares3 and @Whatshouldbemyusername I am feeling this all too. Low back pain, return of queasiness, and just generally super tired! Wish I had planned my maternity leave to start earlier but hoping the next 6ish weeks go quickly!

BertieBotts · 22/06/2021 09:57

I had a 30 week scan but that is standard in Germany.

It's funny because the baby is now so big you can only see one part of them at a time. My baby like DS2 had his face pressed up against the placenta.

PurplePansy05 · 22/06/2021 10:03

Ah that's shit @lucyrp! Yes, if it's that expensive, it might work out cheaper for now if you trade it in & put money down as a deposit for a new car. PCP isn't what I'd normally go for and having had one on PCP, I now own outright instead, but it has its benefits - you'd get a reliable, new car any if anything goes wrong with it when you're skint on mat leave, you'd be covered. Of course there's a monthly payment, but you could also get out of most PCP contracts early. Just an idea xx

@WolfMother326 I have my 32 week growth scan this afternoon, well technically it's a bit late, 32+4. I was measuring same as you at my last one at 28 weeks. I think you mean centimetres not inches though? Remember in centimetres it isn't actually that far off what they'd like to see, my MW said around 1 cm per week, so in theory you should be nearing 32 cm and you're 30cm. That's actually less than an inch. I'm sure all will be fine - it's good you'll get to see your LO on Thursday, a growth scan is far more accurate than bump measurements. Don't worry. xx

lucyrp · 22/06/2021 10:08

@PurplePansy05 this is a PCP car already 😢 have another 3 and a half years left. X

PurplePansy05 · 22/06/2021 10:11

@lucyrp Ah if that's the case, have a look at your contract - if it's packed up, you might be able to return it and get out of it. Of course I appreciate you'd need to buy a new one, it might be worth getting a personal loan if you don't want to touch any maternity savings. Often cheaper than all other options, like PCP, hire purchase, lease and deffo car finance. It's a pain, but if you shop around you might not end up worse off here xx

MM1993 · 22/06/2021 10:17

@WolfMother326 - not a growth scan however I do have a 32 week scan next week to check the position of my placenta. I also don't have a 32 week midwife appointment. Last one was 28 weeks. I have a 34 week appointment, over the phone 😑

Jessicapebbles · 22/06/2021 10:38

I have my 32 week growth scan today (at 33 + 5) - had the worst night ever last night where my lovely baby kicked me so hard in my stomach at 3am that I was really sick, ended up with chronic heartburn afterwards and got up at 4am to try and sort myself out. Started with some lower back pain and period type cramps which came and went for an hour and still a bit achey now. Going to see if they will give me the once over this afternoon. I find out the date of my c-section today which is exciting, I’m expecting it to be around July 30th but I’ll keep you all posted!

Smurf123 · 22/06/2021 10:53

Good luck for all the scans today!

I had a growth scan this morning, just home. All looking good so far and baby is estimated to be about 2.3kg (5lbs) which is pretty much the same weight ds was born at.
Literally just home from the hospital where he didn't have the swab results from Friday to get a phone call from a different Dr at some hospital to say that it's come back positive for thrush so to come back over to collect a script for it. This will be the third time in about a month 🙈
I've been referred for physio for the back pain and another one for the nausea and horrible heartburn too...

PurplePansy05 · 22/06/2021 11:13

Good luck @Jessicapebbles Flowers Sorry to hear about last night, sounds very unpleasant! But you are a bit better now hopefully? xx

@Smurf123 that's great news re your scan, I had a good feeling Flowers Glad to hear your LO is so big and healthy now! Lovely news. Sounds like you'll be getting more support overall too which can only help. xx

Jessicapebbles · 22/06/2021 11:25

Thanks @PurplePansy05 , I just feel wiped out and I’m desperate for her to move her feet off my stomach, it’s so uncomfortable. Not long to go now and have my final shift at work on Thursday.
