I got a BFP today - hoping for good things and not just a chemical pregnancy. According to LMP I am 3 weeks 2 days Smile Fingers crossed as this would be my OH and I's first little one.

tuxedocat · 19/04/2021 20:21

@eliza14 congratulations and fingers crossed it’s sticky!

Thank you! Trying not to get too excited in case but looking forward to following this thread for December babies should everything go well

Flowerchild547 · 19/04/2021 21:03

Hiya!
Just had my BFP after having a feeling that I was pregnant that I couldn’t shift.
NHS due date calculator says I’m due on 25/12! Christmas Day!!!!!
This is my first pregnancy and I have no idea what to expect 😅
Congratulations everyone and I hope it goes smoothly for all of you!!

thunderandsunshine01 · 19/04/2021 21:09

Ooo can I join, just found out and think est due date is 23rd eeek. Bit of a surprise as DS is 10 weeks old! So potentially this will be my second birth within the calendar year. Also have DD nearly 9.
My early scan is booked for 29th as just the one Fallopian tube and history of ectopic so fingers crossed bubs has settled in the right location.

tuxedocat · 19/04/2021 21:39

@Flowerchild547 what a due date ❤️ Congratulations on your first!

@thunderandsunshine01 oh gosh, congrats!2 births in a calendar year is a sure fire achievement. They’ll be lovely and close together tho.

Hope you both are feeling well!

I’ve got an irrational fear of twins - is that just me? not sure what’s gotten into me but I’m terrified about it 😂

Flowerchild547 · 20/04/2021 00:02

@tuxedocat I feel you completely! There’s a history of twins in both my partner’s and my own families so could be a possibility. Is there a history in yours?

tuxedocat · 20/04/2021 07:08

@Flowerchild547 oh I’m so glad it’s not just me. I always think I’m weird about it 😂 no, no history whatsoever in mine so no extra ‘chance’ we could, but it worries me endlessly. I’ve known so many people recently who have fallen pregnant with twins too. I don’t even know what it is, but it’s just something I’ve dreaded both times I’ve fallen pregnant!

May2311 · 20/04/2021 07:38

Morning ladies!

I have my booking appt at 9w+5. I know it has to be done before 10 weeks and NHS website says "so that certain tests that need doing before 10 weeks can be done" does anyone know what tests they are?

I am a bit confused as my booking appt is over the phone so my thinking is if it's bloods how can they do it before 10w as it's a Friday the appt.....

Xxx

Rebsy1991 · 20/04/2021 07:44

@May2311 you should get a seperate appointment to go in and get bloods for sickle cell and a few other things like HIV ect. I’ve had the bloods done but no confirmation of booking appointment over the phone!

Maybe give them a call if you haven’t heard about bloods ect in a week or so? X

OP posts:
tuxedocat · 20/04/2021 07:50

@May2311 agree, when I had mine first time around it was done together, but perhaps you’ll need to go to a GP for a blood test before hand? I’m not sure if second pregnancies are different or not!

May2311 · 20/04/2021 08:08

Thanks ladies! I'll give them a call. They left a voicemail with details of appointment so perhaps they presumed I would ring back to get further info( even though they gave me date and time ! ) xx

Wakeupsunshinex · 20/04/2021 08:15

@May2311 They say it's best for the tests to be carried out before 10 weeks but it's not a necessity, they can be done at any point during your pregnancy. The blood tests are screenings for sickle cell, thalassaemia, and a full blood count to check your Rhesus status if it's not already known. If you're concerned, just give them a call and ask when you can expect a blood test.

I know mine is done at my booking appointment but we've got face to face appointments where I am. I had a pregnancy booklet sent out in the post with my appointment letters that has all the screening information. I've attached the page that summarises it all.

It’s my first pregnancy but I’ve been given a hospital appointment for bloods, followed by a midwife call the following week. I think it’s usually the other way round, but hey ho!

BeastOfBODMAS · 20/04/2021 09:27

Congratulations everyone!

Oh @Wakeupsunshinex you have a booklet I’m so jealous! My trust sent out an email. On the email is a PDF attachment. On the PDF is a QR code. On the QR code is a video about blood tests Hmm
I am too old for that sort of carry on so I’m just gonna ask during the booking appointment.

Wakeupsunshinex · 20/04/2021 09:37

@BeastOfBODMAS what a faff! I couldn't be bothered with all of that either.

Here's a link to a pdf of the booklet I have if anyone wants to read it. I am in Scotland so it might vary slightly for everyone but it's got pretty detailed information about all the tests and screenings that you might find helpful.

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 20/04/2021 09:45

Hello! Could I join? I’m very early as not due AF until Friday but I’ve had two really strong positives. NHS calculator gives me a due date of Dec 31st so I’m only just on the bus!

May2311 · 20/04/2021 09:56

Thanks all! I've rang the midwife & she said as my appt is slightly later ( right at the end of the 10week mark) they will get me down that week for bloods before appointment. X

tuxedocat · 20/04/2021 10:07

@May2311 great stuff! Glad that was sorted quickly x

@CoffeeWithMyOxygen welcome and good luck!

BeastOfBODMAS · 20/04/2021 10:11

@Wakeupsunshinex thank you so much for the booklet, what a civilised place Scotland is! Grin I swear some of the NHS England info is so dumbed down it’s completely useless

Elizabeth134 · 20/04/2021 10:12

Congratulations to everyone! Hoping for lots of sticky babies.

I’m thinking of booking an early scan for 7 weeks as I’m having lots of cramping/pain that I’ve not had any other pregnancy.
A little worried it’s something to do with the scars from my c-section so will try and see the consultant we used for that I think.

tuxedocat · 20/04/2021 10:19

I’ve managed to find out that my local window to the womb are allowing additional guests for a scan. I think I’m going to book for 7 weeks exactly and hope it won’t be too early.
We don’t want to tell anyone until we’ve had a scan, but having a 3yr old I thought would be impossible to find childcare without alluding to what we were doing 😂🤦🏻‍♀️
Already it was much easier with the first 😂

May2311 · 20/04/2021 15:59

@tuxedocat 🤣 haha yes I can see us saying along the way "much easier when it's the first" quite a bit!

I have had symptoms eased the last few days. Until I went out for lunch with a friend- chose veggie risotto and I've felt so ill since. Sickness and I think indigestion( never had it before) it's like an ache just beneath my ribs and I keep "burping". Pregnancy can be so disgusting 🤣 Anyone recommend anything that can help? I've been sipping water and googling things that might help 🙈

tuxedocat · 20/04/2021 16:46

@May2311 oh no, that’s the worst. It sounds like indigestion, I did read your digestive tract slows right down in early pregnancy. Gaviscon could help or some mint I believe.

Right! I do swear toddlers have a sixth sense, he keeps talking about a baby in my/my husbands belly the last few weeks 😂

My mum also said she had a premonition there would be a new baby in the family a few months ago 😂

Guineapiggiesmalls · 20/04/2021 21:25

Hi

Tentatively joining... Got a positive today, despite a bit of spotting at the weekend which made me think we were out this month. NHS calc has given me a due date of Christmas Day, which I'm weirdly happy about!

Hope everyone is keeping well. I had terrible hyperemesis last time, so really hoping that the old 'every pregnancy is different' is true!
