Uwila - very possible, I'm due 12th may and have only felt this good for the last 10 days or so - fingers crossed for you all xxxxxxxxxx

How about you early ones, anyone else blooming yet?

Is anyone else having dizzy spells? About every other time that I get up off a chair or bed, I feel really faint and get a roaring sound in my head and my vision greys out for 2 or 3 seconds. It's getting me down. I'm worried that I will pass out while looking after ds

northstar · 10/11/2004 12:57

logic that sounds like a blood pressure thing - maybe get it checked out as could be dangerous if you wobble/fall. How about a seperate thread and ask a few of the more experienced mums?

thanks northstar - I'll post on the pregnancy topic.

logic · 10/11/2004 16:28

I found a link on another thread to the Office of National Statistics containing lists of baby names going back 5 years:

here

It's interesting to see how the names move about. Both the names that we want for the new baby are quite far down the top 100. Ds' name is really popular though.

fisil · 10/11/2004 18:25

logic - any luck with your other thread? I've been asked by GP & at hospital if I am experiencing what you describe (I'm not) so clearly it's an indicator.

cab · 10/11/2004 18:35

Hi folks - no dizzy spells here, but nor have I got boundless energy - could sleep from lunchtime on quite happily.
Saw the most gorgeous 4 month old baby today - sort of got me in the mood. My dd is slightly concerning me now - she talks a good story re being in 'love' with the baby but drew a pic the other day of mummy, dd, daddy and what she described as a 'wee monster' slap bang in the middle of us all! I wonder...

logic · 10/11/2004 19:05

Fisil, yes thanks I got lots of advice. Everyone seems to think that it's low blood pressure and that I should eat lots and get up slowly. My blood pressure was considered normal at the booking-in appt. but normal for me is 110/60 so quite low anyway. I am so annoyed that they have cancelled the weekly drop-in clinics though otherwise I would go there on Friday for advice.

I know what you mean cab, I am so worried about ds being jealous. I babysat a friend's little boy last week and everytime I picked him up, ds went mad and burst into tears. He is incredibly possessive. I think it's quite common though and the midwife assured me that he will learn to deal with it.

fisil · 11/11/2004 08:07

logic, cab, do your little ones have a special dolly? Ds has "baby" who he dotes on. He was feeding her breakfast this morning (after having thrown her down the stairs five minutes earlier). Hope it has a long term effect!

logic · 11/11/2004 08:45

fisil, ds has a cuddly dog named "woof" that goes everywhere with him. In fact, he has three identical ones that I rotate and wash I don't know what I'll do when they get wrecked! My friend recommended that I buy ds a doll before the baby is born as a prentend baby so that's what I'll do. It's really cute when they start imaginative play though isn't it? Yesterday ds was putting bits of bark into piles at the play park and shouting "Dig it!" Too much Bob the Builder I think

cab · 11/11/2004 09:12

Fisil dd isn't that loyal to her dolls - this morning her 'dog' was a yoyo attached to a large elastic band. She does often worry about her baby - being hungry, thirsty, whatever - but the baby varies by the day.
Last time breastfeeding was a disaster so mainly bottle fed - this time I'm almost hoping will be the same cos think dd will be totally traumatised by bf.

Uwila · 11/11/2004 10:28

DOn't get your hopes too high on that baby doll trick. My SIL bought one for my neice1 when neice2 was on the way. They are 17 months apart. Neice1 made her feelings clear by throwing the doll in the toilet!

Although, I think this approach works for some.

I'm still getting dizzy spells on and off. I really must make my 16 week GP appt.

I am really grumpy too Myermay. I don't seem to have any tolerance for things going wrong. I thought that the mood swings were supposed to wear off by now but they seem to be getting worse. I'm getting weird cravings too. I have had mars bar on weetabix and cheese on cod this week already!

Aww Myermay, that gagging thing sounds awful
I hope it wears off soon.

I have a job interview in 50 minutes and I am starting to get nervous! Better start getting ready I suppose...

P.A. to our local Vicar. It's 6 hours a week from home whenever I can fit them in so it's perfect really. Now I'm ready and have to wait until it's time to go. There's going to be a PC based task as the bulk of the interview and I keep telling myself - ffs you've got an honours degree in comp sci and a post-grad certificate, stop worrying! but it's no use.

LittleB · 11/11/2004 12:04

Logic, hope the interview went ok and your dizzy spells get better soon. I've had the occaisional dizzy spell, but not as bad as you so the advice is useful - my blood pressure is 100/50 which is pretty low too. I used to faint at school if I stood up too long - got me out of choir performances !
I had my scan this morning and everything is ok . I was so relieved, I was pretty worried about it all. Baby was asleep upside down, when I said how still it was they poked me/baby to wake it up, it was then wiggling about loads, waving its hands and legs around. dp thinks its all quite strange! Think it still needs to sink in a bit - it is weird thinking that its wiggling away inside me - very exciting though

northstar · 11/11/2004 13:41

aaagh i have become the person i would hate if i wasnt me!! I am so laid back, really turning into this cosy contented little pregnant woman nesting!!![blush}
Did the same when pg with ds - always in good mood and cuddly and just HAPPY. Will turn into bitch from hell afterwards probably. No cravings, but would love an ice cold bud right now

OP posts:
northstar · 11/11/2004 13:42

ps I am so jealous of you all having your scans mine isn't til 9th dec - but good to hear all your news, keep it coming xxxxx

OP posts:
logic · 11/11/2004 13:50

Glad your scan went well, LittleB. It'll be your turn soon northstar I think my dh would love a happy, pregnant wife. Yesterday I threw a strop because we didn't have exactly what I wanted for lunch! I hate mood swings.

The interview didn't go too well. I can't pinpoint anything in particular that went wrong but just a feeling. Oh well, I'll find out tonight apparently.

Uwila · 11/11/2004 13:58

Can I just interject one of those guaranteed controversial topics? The new 5-in-1 vaccine. Are you guys to going to get it for the new little ones?

I never questioned the old style (with mercury asI now know!). There's another thread going on now about the safety oc vaccines. We opted out of the MMR for DD1, and take her for singles. But, now I'm rethinking the 5-in1.

Has anyone thought this far ahead?

northstar · 11/11/2004 14:09

Thanx logic hope you get good result re your interview, it's always better than we think at the time.
Oooooh Uwila, what a thorny subject. Vaccinations are a nightmare aren't they but we have an outbreak of mumps here at the moment and i am relieved that ds is vaccinated. I had a huge scare after ds got his 3rd 5in1 at 6mths, he had a viral infection, his temp rose and basically we had a failed cot death as for some reason i went into his room at 5am and found him face down not breathing. Basically to cut a very long story very short i was lucky enough to be able to revive him, and he suffered no long term ill-effects. I didnt sleep for about 2 yrs after and still check his breathing 3 or 4 times a night but im so used to it now i do it in my sleep IYKWIM
It was the combination of the infection and the vaccination that caused his temperature to soar, and it was 4 days after the jabs.
personally i will vaccinate, and watch baba like a hawk for a long time afterwards but really believe it is an individual decision and i have made mine purely on the basis of what i feel easier to deal with both short and long term.

OP posts:
Uwila · 11/11/2004 15:14

Oh, Northstar. That's horrible. But, lucky too!
DD has never had a bad reaction to any of her jabs. I was about convinced to go for the MMR when she was about 6 months old, when I got news that her second cousin was diagnosed as autistic. And, in a matter of about 1.5 seconds I completely changed track and said "over my dead body will this baby have the MMR". I just thought that NOTHING was worth even the slightest risk. What's a few hundred when the alternative MIGHT be a damaged mind.
