@PurplePansy05

you can have the carrycot on top but you would need to buy the "rumble seat" which can go on the lower setting. it has to be parent facing though (which isn't very exciting for them) so they would have a view of the carrycot as the carrycot juts out too far to face the other way. The toddler seat that comes with the buggy can only go on the top setting as they're different dimensions I think as the frame is narrower. It's an additional £200ish though so probably only a configuration I'd consider if mine were closer in age. By the time #2 is out of the carrycot I'm hoping I can get away with just a buggy board for #1

wimbler · 24/02/2021 14:36

in reality if I needed a double when #2 was out of the carrycot I might look at a side by side like the out n about double or the baby jogger one

lucyrp · 24/02/2021 14:39

Omg had an email last night at 11pm from my boss telling me we're all back in work from next week to clean until we can te open .... seems unnecessary as we won't be able to open for another 10 weeks. Not sure how I feel about it as I thought I had a few more weeks at home😫

lucyrp · 24/02/2021 14:47

@LyraShaeLilly mine stopped pretty much as soon as I hit 12 weeks so I'm not much help sorry ☹️🙈 hope it gets better for you soon!

LottSE20 · 24/02/2021 15:27

@LyraShaeLilly if it helps, I’ve been sucking these sweets called Gin Gins. A friend recommended them to me and I think they are often used by people undergoing chemo. They are pretty strong finger flavour but I quite like them and they take the edge off between meals

LottSE20 · 24/02/2021 15:27

*ginger flavour!

Whatshouldbemyusername · 24/02/2021 16:07

@LyraShaeLilly hope you feel better. Try some fresh ginger tea. I used to grate ginger and honey. That helped. Mine stopped at week 13 x

MrsB2019x · 24/02/2021 20:56

Hope you feel better @LyraShaeLilly. I’m 15 weeks and still vomiting one day a week but the good days are much better x

Magik01 · 24/02/2021 20:57

Ladies, what’s your opinions on the WFH from 28 weeks, do we think the guild lines will change now he’s announced the roadmap? We are all roughly due to be 28 weeks in May(ish) so another 3 months. Do we think we will still have the same guildlines or go back to working until the end?!

Carefree1 · 24/02/2021 21:08

I think it will all depend on infection rates and whether there’s a particular risk at the workplace. Nothing has been announced as changing, but I have to admit I wasn’t aware of the 28 week guidance until recently.
If we’re on a good course, then I think it might change, but will be down to risk assessments xx

Alittlexmasmagic · 24/02/2021 21:11

@Magik01 I'm sort of in the opposite boat. We're WFH anyway but I was hoping I'd be allowed back into the office at some point but feel I'll be forced to stay WFH FT despite others being allowed back in. That said, our company has been bought by a larger European firm who were subsequently bought by a bigger American firm. I can't see us being allowed back in until Europe is also back under control with vaccines etc. We weren't allowed back in early autumn because of Europe so not sure they'll follow the roadmap this time.
Rambling answer short, a lot may depend on the employer.x

MrsB2019x · 24/02/2021 21:43

I think it will depend on the employer too. I think there will be WFH guidelines but they will be quite loose and employers will be able to bend them as they wish

biscuitcat · 24/02/2021 21:51

@Alittlexmasmagic I'm like you, really hoping to be back in as all the most fun parts of my job are in person! I would agree with what others have said, I think a lot will depend on infection rates and your particular job/employer. That said, if they want people more or less back to normal by June 21st I'd have thought that guidance about WFH later on in pregnancy may change? That's a guess on my part though! When rates were really low last summer did the guidance change, I don't recall?

Inmypjsagain · 24/02/2021 21:59

@LyraShaeLilly I’m over 16 weeks and vomiting several times a day and still on medication. Come to accept that I think I’ll be one of the unlucky ones. Haven’t found anything that helps really... if it’s bad after 12 weeks a lot of people say 16 weeks is the next milestone! Hopefully it will be for you!

re: work, if the guidance changes I’ll absolutely be told to come in as normal. I am looking at using my 3 week’s annual leave in july and starting maternity start of august (am due on 10th) to try and avoid commuting for as long as possible. My employer is keen to have us back in, so I guess it depends!

I did see that as a result of all social restrictions being lifted that reading and Leeds festival are back on! Think I’ve become institutionalised, I can’t imagine it!! All those people!!!! It’s odd, I was prepared for restrictions for the whole pregnancy, it’s odd my brain is struggling to come to accept that the last few months will be normal?! I hadnt prepared for that!

Inmypjsagain · 24/02/2021 22:17

Has anyone gained much weight yet? I’ve just weighed myself and I’m 3lbs heavier than my pre pregnancy weight- I thought I’d be much more by now? My bmi has always been low, I was right on the borderline of underweight/normal so not predisposed to put weight on... but shouldn’t all the baby stuff be weighing more than a few pounds now? Am I overthinking?

MrsB2019x · 24/02/2021 22:42

@Inmypjsagain I lost 5lbs in the 3 weeks between my booking appt and my scan and they didn’t seem concerned. I’m sure it’s fine ☺️ Think you have done quite well to put weight on while being sick as often as you are 😔

Inmypjsagain · 24/02/2021 23:04

@MrsB2019x oh the sickness is much better these days, I can actually eat some meals, but I realise it seems to be worse than standard. My first trimester was honestly horrendous and took me to a dark place really, I missed 4 weeks of work. During that time I lost 7lbs- which doesn’t sound a lot but pushed my bmi down to 17.5/6. At my booking appointment the midwife couldn’t weigh me or take my height so it was never formally noted and my notes were left blank til my scan- if you’re underweight apparently you need more monitoring? By my 12 week scan, which was done at 13 and a half weeks, I was only a pound under pre pregnancy so I guess they weren’t worried. Long way of saying my weight journey has been up and down! My friends have all said second trimester you gain a lot so keep expecting the scales to jolt up! x

Inmypjsagain · 24/02/2021 23:09

@MrsB2019x sorry for double posting again but I meant to say 5lbs in 3 weeks is quite a lot! Sickness related too? It’s really horrible so I hope it totally clears for you soon. Do make sure you’re keeping an eye on it, because I’d be wanting to tell the midwife if I was still losing but they don’t really seem to monitor. Weigh in at first scan and then I guess second too? X

PurplePansy05 · 25/02/2021 02:31

Just wanted to say good morning to you all, the 3 am curse is well and truly here Confused Congested and wide awake, I thought it was 7 am. Happy days! xx

ElonaWise · 25/02/2021 06:51

Good morning all,

I too am congested a lot when I wake up, often with a headache. I didnt know this could be pregnancy related. I'm getting sharp stabbing pains on the side which I hear is normal. Have loved reading your pram and maternity pay discussions. I am with an American company and get 6 weeks full then SMP to follow. Just bought myself some pregnancy affirmation cards as it's my first baby and I get quite anxious. Also my 16 week bump is very small, although I am quite big. Switched to a super healthy diet in Jan and lost 17lbs. Still overweight and midwife not worried about the weight loss. I'm eating 6 times a day but mostly protein, yoghurt, nuts, avacado, eggs and lots and lots of vegetables.

What's your best tip for anxiety?

lucyrp · 25/02/2021 06:54

@Inmypjsagain I've just started gaining again. Between week 6 and week 12 I lost a stone so 14 pounds and the last week I've started to gain a couple of pounds back. I think it's about 2/3 xx

@Magik01 as for the wfh from 28 weeks that wouldn't have been the case for me as I could stay in work until the end but just not public facing so nothing will really change for me il just end up doing certain things I thought I could get away witj not doing 🤣

lovelsa · 25/02/2021 07:34

Hello fellow August Mummies! I'm due with another baby boy on August 9th! My third boy....heaven help me 😂

I have already have two boys, Henry (4) and Arthur (2.5). Obvs love them so incredibly much, but can't say I was a bit sad to hear it's another boy 😂 Guess I'll have to place my pink hopes on a number 4...just don't tell my hubby that yet lol

Just thought I'd say hello finally!

PurplePansy05 · 25/02/2021 07:35

@ElonaWise Anxiety is a tricky one. I think everyone has a different reason for it, there's the usual pregnancy anxiety because naturally we all worry about the baby, their health, development. There might be our own health worries. There may be an extra layer of previous loss or losses that some of us have gone through. There may be general worries about money, current situation, Covid, MH, uncertainty, loneliness, the whole lot. Worrying if we're up to the job if it's the first one. We're not going through the easiest time, remember. I tell myself that I don't always need to be a superhero and sometimes it's OK to crumble or have a really rubbish day. Sometimes you might feel that talking about it helps or that you'd rather keep it private for the time being - that's OK. There are many kind ears here to listen and you'll often discover that quite a few of us feel or have felt the same way. You aren't alone. You can also try doing little things that keep you upbeat - are you into art, mindfulness, gentle exercise? Any hobbies you may have forgotten about? Anything that keeps you occupied or gives some satisfaction, from a nice bath to hoovering, whatever that might be? All these little things help. I need to leave the house every day not to go cuckoo. I also speak to my mum and friends regularly.

Overall I've been very focused on thinking positive about my son. It's difficult at times with my history and I have this awful perfectionist tendency to always try to do my best, plan, prepare etc. So it's a constant battle. But I take each day and week as it comes and hope for the best, tell myself I am doing what I can and that's OK. Today is our 16 weeks together and I celebrate these little milestones every Thursday 💙 I think it's important we appreciate ourselves first and cheer on each other. Be nice to yourself - you're doing great 💐 xx

lovelsa · 25/02/2021 07:36

@ElonaWise I have headaches with this pregnancy since about 9/10 weeks...it's the worst! Mine are right behind my eyes with sensitivity to light. I didn't have headaches with my previous two. The headaches are defo worse than the nausea!

Magik01 · 25/02/2021 07:42

@lucyrp I’m asking on a purely selfish reason as my work told me last night that I can’t wfh due to my job so will be put on maternity suspension with full pay. 😂 a stark contrast to how stressful it was last pregnancy with loosing my job!!
