mememummy - you are not alone. I spend many nights home alone as DH works late - and then often stays over at work (as its over an hours drive home, and if he is really late he cant face the drive home and then back early in the morning - he generally leaves before 6am). He also refuses to have voicemail on his mobile as says that it will be full within minutes with people trying to get hold of him (he runs a transport company - and between customers and drivers his phone is continually ringing)...the other day I was calling for about 3 hours before he returned a call or text...and I did wonder what would have happened if I had been in labour!!

There is strong chance I will need c-section (due to breech) which will at least mean he has advance warning of the birth - but then I have the added complication of not much help from him after ....with DD being 19 months old that is not ideal!

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 13/11/2007 18:56

Feeling v sorry for myself I am afraid ladies.

Babys feet are right up in the ribs and have the most awful reflux.Everything I eat comes back with lots of acid and despite spending nearly 24 hours sat on loo trying to wee it still only manages to squirt out with every cough or retch.

When I eventually stopped being sick last night I started with period type pains that lasted till 5am.I saw midwife this morning and she said head is fixed now (last week it was down but she could move it) and said that the pains indicate things on the move.

I dont remember feeling anything like this with dd though I did get tightness in ribs in final week and I am only 37.3 now.

My back is killing too and I feel v v tired.Cant see how I will last the distance.

Wonder if baby is going to make an early appearance and also wonder if I go to term what size he will be as all indications now point to a large one

Anyone else feeling the strain?

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 13/11/2007 18:58

Strain...yesssssssssssssssss!! Ow ow ow!! Feeling v tight, stretched and sore, and bump definitely lower, feel very unladylike when I sit down and have to open my legs to make way for it ha ha!
Midwife on Thurs, will be interested to hear what she says.

IN AWE of you pregnant mummies of toddlers, I think I will have to send this LO away if/when I get pregnant with no.2 ha ha! It seems like an impossible task.

Oh and of course, CONGRATS to kerioke!! So exciting! I told DH that one of my "due in Dec" internet people had had their baby already, he looked a bit terrified! It's really getting close now eh?

Re driving to hospital - we only have one car and DH takes it to nightshift twice a week - I am so sure I will go into labour on a nightshift night...!

Hugs to all, think we're all feeling it now, sending cyber-support to you all! xx

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 13/11/2007 19:11

me too

I had a shandy shandy last night which was one part beer to 20 parts lemonade and it was lovely.

But boy did i pay for it later with heartburn

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 13/11/2007 19:13

Under my bustline the skin is all shiny as it so tight.Ugh

They never tell you half of it do they?

mememummy · 13/11/2007 19:15

heartburn is horrible mw wont give me anythin as its an 'over the counter product' so am akin do with loadsa milk and soe choc as its got a glass and a half in tempted to start the raspberry leaf tea now is it to early 36+ weeks

tabimum · 13/11/2007 19:16

Probably spending time with DH's ...its just us that have relationships with computers!!

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 13/11/2007 19:18

Your doc/midwife should give you gaviscon! You need it and its bloody expensive to buy.I am going through loads and am putting weekly prescription repeats in.

Its not your mw decision. You are entitled to free prescriptions while pg so it does not matter if its over the counter or not

tabimum · 13/11/2007 19:18

Ignore last comment - so tired that I am clearly reading posts in wrong order - and read an old one of mememummy, before I realised.....god I need sleep, or wine!!!

mememummy · 13/11/2007 19:21

alcohol is def the answer on this occasion

mememummy · 13/11/2007 19:32

my mw is very crappy unfortunatly and told my friend the same thingi've decided its cuz im young and she is being judgmental

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 13/11/2007 19:39

Thanks for the tips on recognising when she's engaged! She is def head down and has been for weeks and weeks (scans confirmed this). Unfortunately scans can show that much but not whether she is engaged. Also have not had a "proper" MW appointment for about a month as keep going into hospital for scans and then she says "you don't really need to see me now do you?". Which I suppose is true sort of - but means I haven't done the regular MW stuff like BP, weeing on the stick, feeling the baby for ages. After all scans can only tell so much!

Next Thur 22 am going in for another scan and she's going to take me for a hospital tour. Might mention then that maybe at 36 weeks its a good idea we had a "proper" visit rather than her just coming along to support me at the hospital. Sounds mean doesn't it as she's been really nice thru all of the recent scares etc but part of me just wishes we could go back to "normal".

Shells · 13/11/2007 19:53

Are any of you UK mumsnetters still up? I haven't posted for ages. I'm with you all on the heartburn. I'm so sick of it. It means I don't eat much and then worry that baby won't be growing (irrational, I know). Have also got awful sciatica which is keeping me awake at night and paracetomol doesn't go near it. Sigh. Still only 37 weeks.

Shells · 13/11/2007 19:58

Buzzy, I know what you mean about 'normal' visit. Its quite reassuring to have them feel that baby and check all the usual things. Sounds like a good thing to suggest.

mememummy · 13/11/2007 20:00

shells have you tried sleepin with a pillow between your knees physio reccommended it to me and reassured me that co-codamol is safe during pregnancy

Shells · 13/11/2007 20:05

yes, i do the pillow thing and that does help. but haven't tried co-codamol. will go to chemist today and check it out. am in new zealand so might be called something different.

mememummy · 13/11/2007 20:08

the technical term is codine 30mg and paracetamol 500mg, its completely safebut can make u a bit drowsy, which at this stage is bliss at night
