Anyone else packing in this week?

buzzybee · 12/11/2007 07:32

Seems kinda appropriate now that we've started popping! Wonder who'll be next

I'm in New Zealand littleoldme so actually the evening here - but others do post very early to this thread. Not sure whether they start work early or go online before going to work (Bouncing?)

we had a housewarming party on sat- seemed like a good idea and was v enjoyable. up until 1.30 and boy did i suffer the next day! Feel better today after sleeping around the clock.

I would love to be next- ma was 3 weeks early with her first (who was 8.5 lb ), which would be friday for me. However DH has told me that i can't possibly go into labour before the 30th november because of a work deadline! Still, am drinking my raspberry leaf tea like a goodun

buzzybee · 12/11/2007 08:08

Know what you mean about overdoing things Suey. I went for a long walk on Saturday and on Sunday could hardly move. Feel better today though.

Did you manage to find a replacement for your colleague who's leaving in the end - after all the dramas with the ad etc?

My DD was born on her due date but feel like this one will be early as well. Would like to get to 37 weeks though which is 1 Dec for me!

Morning

I'm 35wks today, and since I'm due exactly 1 wk before Christmas it's always a reminder of how long it is til Christmas

Talking of which we bought a (fake) tree yesterday so my mission this week is to get the decorations and lights for it. Nesting instinct is in full swing here.

Suey, like Buzzy I was also thinking of you and wondering how the intereviews went with maternity cover for yourself? Did you finda Maternity Nurse? Good on your for having the party, if you didn't I'm sure you would've regretted it once baby is here as it would seem like a long way off having it then. LOL at your DH scheduling in your LO's arrival. These guys don't fully understand the impact of our babies until they're here and then they get a BIG shock! Still, let him enjoy the ignorant bliss at the moment

Bouncing - yippee for you, last week. Hope it's enjoyable for you, last "monday morning" feeling of going into work!

I tried to go for a walk yesterday with my partner and we only made it down the hill and I started getting strong Braxton Hicks again!! As soon as I stop moving about too much they stop too but I really want to try and stay active any tips on how I can achieve this? Anyone else getting Braxton Hicks?
I go to a pregnancy in yoga class every week which so far has been lovely but am a bit nervous about going this morning in case I start with them again!!
Can't believe how soon it all is now, I feel so many different emotions, have been terribly weepy and emotional over the wkd anyone else feel like they're having bad PMT mood swings?

Amani · 12/11/2007 08:50

Morning all

How are you ladies today?

Not too bad - just feeling really short of breath this morning - even though I haven't done anything strenous.

Had a bad night's sleep. Was awake from 12.30am to 3.30am - feel so tired.

Buzzybee - well done on thelong walk.

Am back at work and got 60 emails to plough through for having 2 days off....

mixedmama · 12/11/2007 09:23

Morning all...

First things first CONGRATS Kerioke... and wleocme to the world Logan.

Had a very active weekend. DS had a bday party on Saturday in an activity type place, he had such a good time running around but he was in awe of the other children and didnt play with anyone and just played by himself, made me a bit sad. DH and I have decided that he will definitely be going to nursery for at least one or two mornings a week once we move.

Yep we are defo moving.... feel much better about it as I have spokent to my dad and tbh honest i was worried about his reaction as he has a real prob with BIL living with us. DH an I have planned all the changes to the flat and I am approaching it as if BIL doesnt live there.

Saturday night a few of my friends threw me a surprise baby shower... altho I sort of knew as they never normally book my time in advance. Was nice altho i didnt get home till 1.30 am.... yesterday spent the day clearing out cupboards and stuff ready for moving.. hoping to move just when I start mat leave which is 30 Nov woo hoo!!

Beckle - am seeing MW next week, but going to the surgery tonight to pick up prescription for the iron tablets... so might ask the really unhelpful receptionist.

Second what Housemum said about competitive mums... take it all in your stride.

Wizzska · 12/11/2007 09:33

Kerioke - congratulations! How lovely. Welcome Logan!

I feel like I've hit a wall now. Just can't sleep, back ache, pelvis ache, my bump is too heavy. I feel massive. One week of work left now, but I'm not sure I can manage it.

37 weeks today so baby is now considered full term. Perhaps my body is telling me to rest.

claraquitebignow · 12/11/2007 09:36

Hello everyone including the new people.

I have done quite a lot of walking over the weekend too and am absolutely shattered afterwards. We also have a three-storied house so am getting even more tired by having to continuously climb up and down. Especially as the main living area - including the kitchen - is in the middle floor so I have to carry all the shopping upstairs....

Mellymooks - I have been getting a few Braxton Hicks recently, at least I think they are. I didn't have any last time round so not too sure but my bump goes very hard and tight for about 30 seconds - although I would not say it was painful or even uncomfortable in any way. I don't think it means the baby is imminent; I am fully expecting to be at least two weeks late (taking me up to about 14 Dec...).

Suey2 - I see you are drinking Raspberry Leaf Tea; I bought some on Saturday but am not sure how often you are meant to drink it. I am having one cup a day - should it be more than this to have any effect do you know?

chocolatepeanut - I know how you feel about the tight bra, it's always such a relief to get undressed in the evening! However I don't seem to be having ANY problems eating, if anything I seem to be eating more than ever and unfortunately a lot of that seems to be of the chocolate variety....How are you feeling about the birth now by the way? Hopefully a little more relaxed about it? Having the builders in must be stressful as well - but perhaps they will help you take your mind off your worries!!

claraquitebignow · 12/11/2007 09:38

Oh yes housemum I also completely agree about competitive mums. I think I was always a bit too honest and felt like my baby was always the worst sleeper - when in fact she was probably about average! And unfortunately the competition doesn't end when they leave babyhood behind - walking, talking, potty training - the list goes on! No doubt school will be another minefield altogether....

insywinsyspider · 12/11/2007 09:57

hello all - hows everyone doing?

Not had chance to read posts but congrats Kerioke! hope it all went well (will have to find post and get details in a bit!)

Sorry but I've come on for a general moan so feel free to stop reading now - 35 wks tomorrow and I've had enough, am trying at the moment to finish work earlier than I planned as ds as been periodically ill for last 5 wks (A&E trip for high fever, vomiting and shaking on Wed eve) childminders son taken to hosp this morning (don't know details but hope he's ok) so ds at nursery for emergency childcare and he cried his eyes out when I left him - too stressful! had rubbish day with inlaws on sat (6 hours driving and bearly saw them long story but my hips are killing me from being in the car that long) desperate for sleep (as is dh and he's not understanding that I just can't do it everything at the moment, he was really cross with me this morning when I asked him to get up for ds at 6am as I was awake but my back was killing me from being up in the night, dh is just tired too) and ds is playing up as he obviously feels rubbish but on Sunday we when out and I was actually embarassed by his behaviour he was hitting, kicking and shouting, wish he could talk and tell me whats wrong! - just waiting for a call from HR before trying to contact my line manager... sorry just to moan but think its been one of those weeks!

littleoldme · 12/11/2007 10:00

Buzzy - That explains it! I just couldn't sleep! I've visited Wellington and loved it. We spent two happy days watching NZ and OZ playing cricket.

Melly - I've been having monster mood swings over the last few days too. The Nov thread call it being hormotional. Are your BHs painful?

Mixed - What fab friends!

Claire not sure re the RL tea - I think you can it in a more concentrated tablet form if you want.

claraquitebignow · 12/11/2007 10:08

Insy - poor you, that sounds like a nightmare and I totally sympathise as I can't do long car journies anymore. Or sleep. And yes looking after tantrumming toddlers, especially ones which are poorly, is not much fun....

If it helps, I found the period around 33 - 36 weeks really hard as I felt terrible but felt like I still had such a long way to go. Now I am counting down the days not the weeks (19 days until my due date....), pyschologically all the pain is easier to take as I know it's not long now. Even if I do go way over my dates!

claraquitebignow · 12/11/2007 10:09

Littleoldme - I looked for the tablet form of RLT on Saturday but couldn't find it. Even though I found all sorts of other wierd and wonderful tablets for sale - Devilsclaw anyone????

mixedmama · 12/11/2007 10:12

Insy - sorry you are having a such a diffcult time, hope HR manage to provide you with the ssolution you are hoping for.

littleoldme · 12/11/2007 10:33

Clara try this

Amani · 12/11/2007 10:34

Hope you leave early - sounds like everything is happening at once and you defo need some time out.

claraquitebignow · 12/11/2007 10:43

Thanks littleoldme - I was in Holland and Barrett when I was looking, I should have just asked, it must have been there somewhere!

skidaddle · 12/11/2007 10:47

Morning everyone and HUGE congratulations to kerioke and Logan- fantastic news

Just back from seeing the consultant and my bp is up a bit and the baby is measuring a little bit small (fundal height = 33cm, I am 36 weeks tomorrow) - he says it's nothing to worry about atm but that they will keep a check on me and if my bp goes up much more I might have to go in - I think it's because I had a PPH last time and high bp in conjunction with that is a bit worrying..

insy - so sorry you're having a rubbish time - sounds like a really stressful w/e. I am/was finding that 33-36 wks period really hard too and am hoping that I'm coming out the other end now as I finally had a half-decent sleep on Saturday night. Can you sit down with your DH and explain to him that although he's tired, tiredness is a whole different ballgame when you're pg and can he please sacrifice a couple of nights for your own health-wellbeing? At least when you're well-rested you might be able to begin to be able to cope with your ds and everthing else

clairey - no I didn't see my thread in the mn news - do you mean in the email they send every week - can't see it there..
also are you still measuring small for dates? Are you about the same as me (3 weeks too small)?

claraq - i got raspberry leaf tea capsules from Holland & Barrett (and glad you're still here!)

amani - I'm the same with the sleeping - just have huge long periods in the middle of the night when I can't sleep - makes me as there's no reason for it

Hi everyone else, sorry to go on for so long...

Kitsilano · 12/11/2007 11:00

Hello all and many congratulations to kerioke!

I have been having a tough few days (only the usual pregnancy stuff). 36+4 today and really fed up with it all. I swore I wouldn't be so impatient at the end this time as I know the sleep deprivation to come but I just can't help it! Had a slight false alarm on Sat night with strong Braxton Hicks coming 5-10 mins apart for a couple of hours. But deep down I knew this wasn't "it".

How am I going to hang on for another month?!!! I'm BORED of being pregnant! I can't sleep, I can't walk without massive Braxton Hicks and my dd who is 2.5 seems to be having a massive energy spurt and keeps asking me to chase her round the house.

Right. Whinge over. Thanks for that.

Amani · 12/11/2007 11:04

Kit - know where you are coming from regarding toddlers - my DD (22 months) wants to keep going up and downstairs with her now that she is confident doing it, and I just don't have the energy.

Skid - Am so used to being awake for 2-3 hours each night, I keep a book by my bedside and read it until I fall asleep. I've read 1 and a half novels in a space of week.

claraquitebignow · 12/11/2007 11:06

Hi Skidaddle, hi Kitsilano

Skid - sorry to hear about your BP, when they say you may need to "go in" what do they mean? Go in to stay for a while or for another check or....???
I wouldn't worry too much about measuring small for your dates. I am no expert but I have measured small some weeks, big other weeks - apparently it has a lot to do with the way the baby is lying.

Kitsilano - yup, I'm with you, totally bored with being pregnant now. Can't rest at all - try and watch tv in the evenings but after about half an hour am aching so much can't relax any more. I agree it's going to be harder when the baby arrives but the way I feel at the moment BRING IT ON!
