Thought I'd start a new thread

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Amani · 12/11/2007 11:14

Skid - you need to do what I was doing last week - REST - to bring that BP down...

cazzybabs · 12/11/2007 11:16

skidaddle - snap....I also have highish bp and am measuring small for dates - I am 34cm at 36 weeks, but they think it is because the baby is back to back.

insywinsyspider · 12/11/2007 11:19

thanks everyone

kitsilano - completely understand about being bored with pregnancy too and I'm a couple of wks behind you, I would like to be able to put this baby down sometimes and get some sleep and give my back a break

skid - I need to talk to dh again, he was just tired this morning, I don't think blokes can possibly get how tiring pg is its so difficult to explain, we spoke after I dropped ds off at nursery and he's asked me just to finish work and get some sleep - I am a bit of a monster with no sleep! he was lovely actually saying we'd cope even if I took it unpaid and ds could still go to childcare
I agree with clara about sizes too, my measuring is crazy sometimes under the line and other times over it, think babies position makes a huge difference, hope you're doing ok

Amani - I don't have any energy for ds and it makes me so sad when I see him playing really happily with other people as I know its just me not having the energy to do that with him at the moment and he's getting frustrated

well HR have said its ok for me to leave early I just need to track down my line manager, split site working sucks, fingers crossed I'll be out of here by Thursday

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 12/11/2007 11:33

Morning everyone
I am having a lazy daytoday as the rest of the week is going to be quite busy I decided that as dh is off today,I would take full advantage!

So sat in bed eating a sausage barmcake and hoping it doesnt make a reappearance later like most of my food.

When I was pg with dd1 I felt v tight in ribs at 39 weeks but have had that feeling this time from 35.I literally cannot get a finger between my bump and under my boobs (they are average size)(!)

Also head down too so weeing all the time.Feel a bit like that character from Little Britain who just wees all over the floor! Thank god for tena ladies as every cough or retch is a dribble

Really feel for those still working.I finished at 29 weeks as I have spd. With the stress of carrying this baby (I still have days where I think it will end like before) and having builders in, I just could not have coped with work too.

Also do feel very different this time.Just a trip to the shops leaves me exhausted and I feel sore and breathless.

Only 19 days to go like claraq so the end is in sight

claireybraxtonhicks · 12/11/2007 11:39

Good advice Housemum, it can be hard when you feel like all the other db's are doing xyz (with me and dd it was sleeping through and actually agreeing to be weaned at 6 months)but I found the easiest way was to remember that the other babies were not my dd and that she was her own person who would do things in her own time (hoping the sleeping through comes soon though!)

Insy sorry things are hard at the moment. It has taken a lot for me to get through to DH that after I've been getting up to DD all night it would be nice if he could do the first thing shift. He used to say "well I'm tired too, she wakes me as well you know" (at which I was always a bit seeing as he always managed to be snoring both when I got up and back into bed), but after I made him do the night wakings a few times he realised that getting up and down is far more knackering than lying in bed-even if you are awake. He is doing it now (as well as helping more in the evenings)but I'm now having to suffer him acting the martyr-last night I went up to bed and he said something along the lines of have a nice rest and I said you too to which he replied "I can't though can I? One of us has to sustain the family" and then added "Oh. Don't feel bad". I'm afraid I just laughed at him and left him to it!

Skid yes it was in the email (sent 9/11)under the hot topics bit. They'd changed the title but was your thread.
Was measuring 3 weeks small last week (32 at 35 week) and have been since 30 weeks or so. Sonographer last week said she'd have words with consultant for sending me for lots of unneccesary scans and that they should stop relying on their tape measure so much and look at the individual. She was quite fierce but it did make me feel better about it. Also last week the midwife said she could feel baby was a good size and was impressed by how clearly she could feel all the various bits etc. Would still like a bit of extra padding though (esp if I am going to lose it all so quickly afterwards again)!

skidaddle · 12/11/2007 11:48

insy - glad your dh is being so nice - he is right - you need to stop working and get some rest, so great you will be able to go by thursday

re measuring small for dates - I have been small the last three times and the baby is in the right position (head down and facing the right way - I had a 3 sec scan this morning too!) so think he is a bit small but consultant thought it was OK so am not that worried

claraq - by 'go in' I think he means be admitted into the antenatal ward. I would HATE that so will have to try and rest and get my bp down. Last time I was exactly the same - really low bp throught pg and then started slowly going up at the end until it was dangerously high and they made me go in (but was in early labour by then anyway)

amani - do you read in bed with your dh? Don't think mine would be v. pleased at having the light on at 3am!

chocolatepeanut - poor you re weeing! What is tena? I have been doing pelvic floor exercises like a mad woman recently and they seem to be holding eveything in OK so far...

Amani · 12/11/2007 11:56

Skid - got a lamp which isn't too bright, so my DH doesn't notice.

aaarrrrgggghhhhhhhh all I want is good night kip........

becklebigbump · 12/11/2007 12:05

Huge huge congrats to you Kerioke & welcome to Logan Vann! So pleased he is doing well, hopefully he'll be home soon!

Insy, moan away, I think we all find this last stretch hard enough without other pressures added in. Must have been scary taking DS to hospital, my DS2 had febrile convulsions when he was smaller and I absolutely panic every time he gets a temperature - particularly if he gets the shakes with it. Hope he is okay. The tantrums could be because of the illness or because of him sensing the impending changes coming in his life. My DS1 is being a total pain at the moment and I really don't know how I am going to cope when baby is here. He gets up soooo early and wakes his brother up and then spends the next 2 hours bullying him (shouting, pinching, slapping - usually because DS2 has said something he doesn't like/won't get dressed etc). I just don't know what to do with him, promising treats and removal of privelages just isn't working anymore. I keep trying to explain it is not 'his job' to tell his brother what to do but he still won't leave him alone. I think a lot of it is tiredness, it makes him grumpy. Plus DS2 needs more sleep than him so when he is woken up early it makes him whingy - all good fun! Sorry, didn't mean to moan so much, is just getting me down a bit.

skidaddle · 12/11/2007 12:06

lol clairey at your DH's "One of us has to sustain the family" . Poor thing he has it so hard, all you've done is carry her for nine months, give birth to her, bf her, look after her all day, get up every night with her until the last month of your pg - good thing he is there to sustain the family!!! (great he is helping out more though)

skidaddle · 12/11/2007 12:08

poor you beckle - do you think it is a reaction to knowing he will be getting less attention soon? He was OK when your ds2 arrived though, wasn't he? Maybe he is getting it all out of his system now [hopelesly optimistic emotion]

skiwaddle · 12/11/2007 12:10

claireybraxtonhicks · 12/11/2007 12:13

I know Skid! Think he is feeling hard done by cos this weekend he cooked dinner every night and on Saturday he did the washing up, hung out a load of washing and hoovered while I took dd out to do some xmas shopping-he then told me he had blitzed the house

becklebigbump · 12/11/2007 12:18

TBH Skid he has always been a bit of a bully to his brother, he thinks being the eldest gives him the authority to boss him around! Unfortunately DS2 has developed a mind of his own in the last couple of years and realised that he doesn't have to do everything DS1's way. I think am hoping it is just a phase and he will come out of it soon. There were a few months earlier this year when DS2 was the one I couldn't cope with and he is being an absolute delight at the moment.

becklebigbump · 12/11/2007 12:20

Clairey, my DH thinks he is a hero this weekend as not only did he give the DSs their breakfast on Sunday BUT he also cleared up the toast crumbs he made and wiped down the lid of the bin! Hehe! Other than the odd hoover round DH does none of the housework, cooking or less fun parts of childcare! Am not too fussed though as he works long hours and usually lets me lie in on a Sunday!

Housemum · 12/11/2007 12:25

I think something similar to beer-goggles happens when a man has to do housework. With DD2 I spent a couple of days in hospital, and DH told me he'd had a whip-round the house for me. Went throught the front door, and yes, the washing-up had been done, and some ironing. But, there were still piles of toys/magazines/papers - even if he didn't know where to put them, he could have neatly piled like-with-like and put them to one side. The bed wasn't made (that's upstairs so obviously doesn't count). Men can do the very specific chores but seems to walk past general clutter...

insywinsyspider · 12/11/2007 12:37

clairy - I think dh is grumpy because I've started making him get up, I'm ok till about 5am but I just can't get up after then, its his own fault for not coming to bed till 10.30 last night anyway, he sleeps through it all, the other night he woke up and said 'gosh he slept well last night' I'd been up 4 times comforting ds he tends to say something stupid and then realise a little later how much I'm stuggling

skid - fingers are crossed for finishing soon, HR have cleared it but I haven't spoken to my manager yet

chocpeanut - at you lying in bed, hopefully I'll soon be doing that too - your name always reminds me of snickers bars, feel the need to go and get one now!

suey2 · 12/11/2007 12:50

claraq one cup of raspberry leaf a day- not too disgusting- got it from holland and barrett.

Thanks to those who asked- I managed to get a good physio 10 years qual with MSc. She is starting next month. HUGE relief- even though i will have to pay 2 people to do one person's job for 2 months- means i will not be able to pay myself . But at least i know that the business will be ok.

Got a new bed on friday- OMG. woke up half as frequently since and my rib pain has all but gone. Those who are having trouble sleeping (like, all of us!) may want to try putting a duvet or something soft under the sheet to provide a bit more cushioning. Should make it much more comfy.

suey2 · 12/11/2007 12:53

oh, anyone esle finding they can't stomach 'rubbish' food- it makes me feel very sick. (EG party food at weekend- pork pies, cocktail suasages, chocolate etc.)

mixedmama · 12/11/2007 12:59

I am finding that I have a much better tolerance for junk food since being pregnant... wish it was the other way round.

insywinsyspider · 12/11/2007 12:59

beckle - think I might be moaning a lot, makes me feel so much better to be able to vent here and know I'm not the only one. It was scarey taking ds to hosp and then i hardly slept as kept having to check him - its hard going because since he got ill we seem to having a never ending cycle to minor illness to content with, I keep thinking we'll having him sleeping thro the night again soon before baby gets here but no such luck as yet!
hope things with ds1 get better, I'm struggling with one miserable child let alone him winding the other up - its amazing how much they pick up on how little energy you have too and seem to get 10 times worse

skiwaddle · 12/11/2007 13:02

suey - yes me too! Ordered a burger for lunch yesterday and it was a real dirty low quality one and I couldn't stomach it. Then went home and devoured a huge plate of fresh salad that my Dh had made and ignored the lasagne on the side - my poor baby craving healthy food instead of the rubbish his horrible mother forces on him

V. impressed by you having a party btw

skiwaddle · 12/11/2007 13:07

insy - he might also be picking up on the impending arrival - acting up now to get his attention while he can? Or do you think he is too young for that? You really have my sympathies - pregnancy is so hard anyway but coping with an ill toddler for weeks on end as well must be horrendous. Fingers crossed for Thursday

Amani · 12/11/2007 13:14

Had Krispy Kream doughnuts yesterday and could 'hear' my baby saying 'more, more'.........had to comply....
