Oooh cazzybabs you will get even more snarky comments than me though if you are due on 3rd, hee hee! I am counting on the old wives tale of 1st babies being 2 weeks late thus giving me 4 weeks off instead of 2 ha ha!
I do feel like the parents are tutting at me when I waddle past them in the playground in the morning though...yet I can't win as they were annoyed enough that I was pregnant, and therefore "leaving" in the first place! I will be back before the summer hols though.
We should start a new list - countdown to maternity leave! But it might just make us all depressed...!

cazzybabs · 09/11/2007 21:17

Funny enough I am counting on this one being late as well - we have a year 1 parent's meal out on the 30th Nov and then a staff/parent social thing on the followiing Fri that I would quite like to go to! I really hope this baby is listening....

Ambi · 10/11/2007 09:35

Loucee I got heat pads 99p for 2 at bodycare, wanted to take a hot water bottle to help ease any back pain, but these were recommended instead and the heat lasts for 12 hours, hope they work ok.

Ambi · 10/11/2007 09:38

I hope this one isn't late, my BF is getting married on 15th Dec (due to be induced on 13th if I go over) I really want to go to her wedding, not be in stirrups at the time. Granted as a new mum, I'll be a mess but at least it'll make her look good. I was supposed to be a bridesmaid but babies arrive when they want don't they.

Ambi · 10/11/2007 09:39

Full marks for bravery and stamina for you gals working right up to due date (or very close) I think I'd have had a breakdown!

cazzybabs · 10/11/2007 10:51

My laptop has died - in an completely broken sort of way .... Am sitting on the floor typing on desktop, but miss my laptop...no more reading MN in bed....still may help the baby to turn!

claraquitebignow · 10/11/2007 10:52

Hi Skidaddle (and everyone else) - no I am still around, have been a bit flat out looking after DD and trying to get all my last minute shopping done. Have a few Christmas presents still to buy and have also just realised we haven't bought any furniture at all for the new baby (it does have some stuff from dd so it won't be sleeping in a drawer or anything!) - not even a chest of drawers to put clothes in - so am now trying to get that sorted out as well!

Anyway I am 37 weeks today so I guess that makes me officially at "term" - hurrah! No feelings of labour starting or anything though.

Was also hoping to hear some good news from Kerioke - hope she is ok. I am sure she is, if she had a c/s (which is sounded like she was going to have) she may still be in hospital.

I like the sound of those heatpads Ambi...might get some of those.

Bouncingturtle · 10/11/2007 11:12

I'm in awe of the ladies sticking it out to the bitter end, wish that I could but the work environment at the moment just isn't very good for me. I suppose I'm quite lucky as DH and I are on pretty good incomes. I've also been offered the opportunity to do some work at home for the company as well after the baby is born. They'll be providing me with a company laptop and I'll be helping to populate data into the new software for creating material safety data sheets. Sounds dull, but if it brings a bit of extra income then that's a good thing.
I really do think that people seem to assume that once you are pg they can just say whatever they like to you, no matter how offensive - yes we do still have feeligns you know!!

Curlygirly · 10/11/2007 11:29

Morning all.
Last day of work for me. Yipeeeeeeee!

becklebigbump · 10/11/2007 13:28

Mixedmama I am they took so long to let you know about your anaemia! Although they didn't pick up that I was almost there at 12 weeks once I had the bloods at 28 weeks they contacted me within days! As for your Maternity Exemption Card, I didn't get mine either so in the end I asked the MW for another form and sent off for it again. When do you next see MW? Worth asking for another form as it is valid for 1 year after baby is born too, sounds like your chemist is enough of a pain to deal with while you are pg - does she think you stuff a cushion up your jumper to save yourself £6-7?
Tabimum hi there, looks like we are due date buddies! Sorry your DH is being difficult at the moment, the arrival of a new LO is scary for men I think, they don't really have a bond with baby until it is born (unlike us). Hope you manage to sort it out, think he may need to take more than a day off with you though! My DH only took 2-3 days with each DS but they were not CS births. Makes me cross about people commenting on size/due date/mat leave/twins etc. You are definitely public property once you are pg, people feel they can pass any comment/judgement on you and its okay. The one that is getting me at the moment is "you're looking well!" Makes me feel like an old lady or something - people wouldn't dream of saying that if I wasn't pg would they?! People are always horrified I still have 7 weeks to go, either that or they laugh at the size of my bump.
I have started on my bags too, washed all the blankets and sheets yesterday and the few little sleepsuits I have bought. I can't believe how tiny they are! I keep looking at them and thinking I must have shrunk them or something!

Curlygirly · 10/11/2007 13:40

Can't believe it. Just been given the nicest leaving present at work. They have bought us bouncy chair, cot blanket, toy and outfit all from mamas and papas. Only work part time and felt they wouldn't notice if I wasn't here, so really shocked in a good way. Got bit emotional. Bloody hormones!

macdoodle · 10/11/2007 18:17

One of our nurses let slip about my "surprise baby shower" .... she is a bit dippy so will have to act all surprised bless them Still on the count down though - 4 weeks left but thats only 11 working days as I work part time and have a few annual leave days left so not too bad

loucee · 10/11/2007 20:04

Hi everyone

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

I picked up a great rocking stand for the moses basket today - £28.99 down to £12.99! end of line I think but I'm chuffed.

Ambi - managed to find the heat pads in Boots this afternoon. I'm not bothering with a tens machine this time round and think the heat pads will help me more (got really cold during labour last time round so a wee bit of heat on my back would've been most welcome).

Curlygirly - what a lovely gesture from your work, hope that gives you a really nice feeling too that will most certainly be missed whilst you're on mat leave.

cazzybabs · 10/11/2007 20:13

How nice for baby showers - I will get a bunch of flowers...

My computer is back from the dead - a miracle...but i can no longer get my rings off my finger...must stop eating biscuits...

Bouncingturtle · 10/11/2007 21:27

Loucee - what a bargain!
Well our hoover died the other day, we bought a little Tesco cyclonic bagless jobby, was orginally £40, but being discontinued so £10 off plus had £15 in Tesco clubcard vouchers, so only cost us £15 for a hoover! it does the job okay!
Cazzy - welcome back! Stopped wearing my rings weeks ago fingers too swollen to get them on!

loucee · 10/11/2007 21:28

ha ha Cazzybabs - I must eat the same biscuits - go straight on my bum and fingers! Spoke to MW about my swelling and she said it's normal but to watch my salt intake and ensure I'm drinking 2L of water a day.

Ambi · 10/11/2007 22:27

curly, what a great present, I got £50 giftcard from boots which is really nice as I didn't expect it esp. being so close to xmas. Loucee, good deal on the rocking stand, I picked the £15 one from argos, it looks great now in the nursery Also surprised at how large the moses basket is, considering they are outgrown so fast.

Ambi · 10/11/2007 22:29

cazzy at the laptop, I have demanded asked for one off DH as a joint xmas/birthday/you're a wonderful wife for giving birth present, hate being stuck in the second bedroom to go on the pooter, would much prefer to be in bed/on the sofa!!

Bouncingturtle · 11/11/2007 08:32

Yes, laptops rule! Dell do good ones as well as reasonable value. I've had mine about 2 years, but the battery is dead, so it has to stay plugged in. Not too much bother except when someone accidently pulls out the power lead...

kerioke · 11/11/2007 10:43

Hi all,

so sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you and even more sorry that i dont have the time to read through and see how you all are!

well after all that palava and waiting for monday to come guess what...? Logan Vann decided to come anyway! so i never made it to my appointment!

i started labouring properly on the sunday evening, but midwives were adamant nothing was happening again, so they gave me pethadine and i had a sleep... woke up monday early and cat napped between contractions due to exhaustion form the previous two weeks!

by mid mornign i was in agony and asking for gas and air... i had the lovely stuff for half an hour when it ran out!!! i had to wait 45 minutes for it in sheer agony.. just before it turned up they finally decided to check me and discovered i was 9cm!! just 42 minutes after that he was born at 14.38 on the 5th november... 6 weeks early but weighing a really good 5lb 7oz...

due to being early Logan is in the NeoNatal Unit, but is doing so well now taking feeds that we are hoping he will be home next week!

i no longer feel like i have been hit by a car, the tirdness is fading, my boobs are starting to resemble comfortable and i now have three gorgous little men to dote on!

i promise as soon as logan is home i will sit adn catch up and watch and congrat each of you as your special bundles join you... you have all made a difficult pregnancy and horrific two weeks so much easier. thank you so much xxx

Amani · 11/11/2007 10:46

Morning all,

Anyone doing anything nice today? At home at the moment then off to a friends house-warming this afternoon - a year after she moved in!

Can't believe some of you have started your maternity leave and are 37 wks plus

Got 4 weeks from tomorrow, and am 33 wks today. Think work have something organised for me, as they have asked me what I would like as a leaving present. Feel a bit awkward telling people what I want (sling and a breast pump!) so may just opt for vouchers...

Amani · 11/11/2007 10:46

whoops - meant gor 4 weeks left for work...

cazzybabs · 11/11/2007 10:48

kerioke - big congratulations! I am so glad he is doing so well...and at teh weight I bet you are glad he didn't make it to term. Can we see photos? I love the name Logan.

Bouncingturtle - well my dead dell laptop seems to be fine again (fingers crossed)...am reading MN on it in bed! But I agree about the battery - this is my 2nd and neither have had a good battery. Still they are cheap and cheerful I guess.

Amani · 11/11/2007 10:51

[grn] CONGRATULATIONS KERIOKE!!

We were all so worried about you, but good to know you and the little on are fine.

Woried about you, but this has brightened up my day. Can't believe you've 'done it!'

Ambi · 11/11/2007 10:58
