Thought I'd start a new thread

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mixedmama · 06/11/2007 16:09

Seen it now. It isnt that small... I think it is nicely tidy to be honest... if i post a pic of my bump you will get my ass aswell as everything else that is hugely flabby.

Ignore the biggots!!!!! Haha

mixedmama · 06/11/2007 16:10

of name changing. Took me ages to come up with the highly unoriginal mixedmama.

suey2 · 06/11/2007 16:12

hello all,
finally have broadband at home yippee!
Trying to avoid the paniter and decorator as much as poss- goodness me the man can talk!
Had second NCT class today- we went through hospital bag, pain relief and birth planning- am due to go to the hospital one tomorrow- am intrigued to find out the difference!

Assembled buggy and isofix/car seat at the weekend. Have also washed the baby linens etc. Still have a few things to get. And certain things keep occurring to me- like- do I put a sheet in the buggy? I really am totally clueless.

claireybraxtonhicks · 06/11/2007 16:12

Grrr MM it makes me mad when doctors are like that-do they not realise these are our precious children?!

No but seriously, I only take dd to the doctor when she seems properly ill and am made to feel neurotic everytime.

I don't know what had happened to my profile-I used to have lots of pics etc but they have all gone and I'd gone back to being private-strange.

Like the name change Claraq!

mixedmama · 06/11/2007 16:13

Hi Suey...

Glad you are back online. Sounds like you have things under control, despite decorating.

claireybraxtonhicks · 06/11/2007 16:14

Hi Suey [waves]

I never put a sheet in the buggy if that helps. Maybe if you had a really sicky baby it might be handy though...

claraquitebignow · 06/11/2007 16:15

Claireyb - my profile link seems to have disappeared too, probably something to do with name change. Oh well. Your bump is lovely, not tiny but nice and neat!

Oh Skidaddle, hope it's not the start of labour for you but if it is Good Luck!

claraquitebignow · 06/11/2007 16:16

Oh yes was going to ask, Suey reminded me. With dd I washed all of her new clothes (the ones bought from shops) before she wore them. This time not sure I can be bothered. Does anyone think this is really necessary or just a precaution?

skidaddle · 06/11/2007 16:19

claireybh - another vote in favour of your bump - not too tiny and very neat

hi suey - good your back online

claraq - I just posted in the childbirth bit about my leaking unknown liquid and all the responses were something along the lines of: 'Oh yes I had that and 15 hours later ds was born' eek and gulp

skidaddle · 06/11/2007 16:20

I don;t bother claraq but i don;t bother doing a lot of things I probably should...

suey2 · 06/11/2007 16:26

clairey i have bump envy! Mine is totally huge, only slightly camouflaged by the enormous mounds of breast above.
Did anyone see the comment in the sunday times about weight in pregnancy?

claireybraxtonhicks · 06/11/2007 16:32

With dd I washed all the newborn stuff but not the stuff for 3 months+ (even though I probably should have done). Will probably do the same this time as otherwise I can see myself freaking out in hospital about putting unwashed clothes on my poor defenceless newborn!

skidaddle · 06/11/2007 16:33

no I didn't suey - what did it say?

clairey - did that thread in AIBU help at all? Have you managed to have a chat with your DH since?

mixedmama · 06/11/2007 16:51

I am incredibly lazy perhaps I should change my name to lazymama I didnt wash any of DS's new clothes and infact his sleepsuit was taken straight out of the packet and put on when he was born.

suey2 · 06/11/2007 16:57

I facny calling myself suey2huge right now.
Skid, the article was saying that historically, pregnancy was the only time that a woman's weight was not commented on. After the furore over milla jovovich that that now seems to ahve changed and that people feel they can justly judge you on your size. I am feeling pretty slef conscious now TBH- have put on 4lb in the last week . No increase in eating, particularly, and although i am only working 1 day a week we are now in a 5 storey house so i am getting a lot of exercise.

claireybraxtonhicks · 06/11/2007 16:58

Lazymama-I like it!

Yeah thanks Skid, it has helped cos I really was wondering if I was expecting too much. We havent had a chat yet cos we were going to fireworks last night and I wanted us to just have a good time (our chats invariably become rows these days!).

Think as someone suggested I might tackle one thing at a time, so have left the buggy outside front door today and will ask him to bring it in later. Think with dh that strategy will work best as if I confront him with a list he is likely to just get defensive and ignore what I say.

Strange thing though...this morning he got dd her milk without me asking AND did the washing up before going to work-maybe he is starting to realise I can't do it all.

mixedmama · 06/11/2007 16:59

the 5 storey house should def help with losing the weight after suey.

skid- just read your thread... some very witty posts.

mixedmama · 06/11/2007 17:00

that sounds like a good strategy clairey. that tack works better with my dh as well. just leave the car seat there and say bring it down as you are leaving.

loucee · 06/11/2007 17:01

Suey, I used a sheet in the pram for DD as the moses basket sheets fitted perfectly.
I'm really funny about washing everything and have washed all the clothes/blankets/toys for this baby - just dont the idea of any finiching chemicals being next to baby.

Clairey - that's a lovely bump, what a ridiculous thing for that guy to say I mean as if your DH would make it up that you're PG!

claireybraxtonhicks · 06/11/2007 17:02

I thought Milla looked great-I aspire to that although I don't think I can get there in 5 weeks!

Sorry you are also feeling self conscious, it's awful isn't it? We should be able to just enjoy our pregnancies without worrying about people's stupid comments

mixedmama · 06/11/2007 17:03

I agree Milla looked fab. I saw that in the In the News Section a while back.

skidaddle · 06/11/2007 17:07

suey - 5 storey house - is it all yours?

I did read that sunday times thing now I remember - it's true we are all supposed to have celeb bumps these days (or claireybee bumps!). I wouldn't worry about weight gain though - it is supposed to slow down/stop in the last four weeks or so so this might be your body's way of getting its last stores of energy in preparation..

clairey - glad the thread helped - i almost felt a bit sorry for your DH when I read the whole thing even though I agreed with most of what was said. Think you're right to avoid confrontation if poss - it is very hard to respond positively to that even if what you are saying is completely right. I've told my DH that the best way to seduce me is to mop the kitchen floor - sounds ridiculous but it honestly is - makes me feel like he really cares and is being thoughtful plus I am less knackered because I dont have to do it - another possible approach for you!

MM - I know that thread is quite funny , esp. the semen-smelling waters!

suey2 · 06/11/2007 17:10

been doing the perineal massage, but i have decided to order the epi-no. I am just not convinced that the massage is thorough enough IYKWIM

suey2 · 06/11/2007 17:13

sorry skid, x post.
The house is all ours- but a typical London town house- ie tall and skinny with one room per floor, except the top which has 2 smaller rooms- one perfect little room for the baby.

Wizzska · 06/11/2007 17:29

Hello everyone.

Luckily that pain I had yesterday wore off eventually. Still don't know what it was.

Had a day off work today to go to anti natal class and have lunch with the other ladies from it too, a really nice day. Have also sorted myself out a homebirth midwife appointment for next week so I feel more relaxed about everything now.

Have hardly had time to read all your posts.

Clairey - lovely bump - not huge, not too small - lucky you.
