I've been lurking here for a while, but didn't want to post too early, being a bit silly I guess. It's been great keeping up with everyone's news.

I am expecting number two in early june, I think I worked out the 3rd but no-one has confirmed that yet. I am getting big already, so hoping I got my dates right, could swear I felt movement yesterday, but I think it must have been gas! I think I'm only 10 weeks! Have a lovely 19month old son.

makecakesnotwar · 05/11/2007 15:04

Welcome katyjo- good to have you here, and congratulations.

Right- off to attack the mountain of ironing. Have been unable to do it for the last couple of weeks...every time I started, I'd have to go and nurse the toilet bowl........

josey · 05/11/2007 15:16

Congrats Debs your little bean looks lovely and what a bonus to be further on than you expected.

TS hope you are ok and get on ok with the nurse.

G43 hope you have stopped bleeding and it has just been an irritation.

Ernest hugs, I know how you feel in away my DH works away, he has been away for a week so far and not sure when he will be home, when you get used to it and in a routine it will get easier, thinking of you.

Rolf sorry you have been going through a hard time at least you saw you bean had to giggle at the stickers

I told DS yesterday as he has been getting fed up of me asking him to do things and mummy not feeling well! He is hyper but saying he is having a brother!

DD is really not well was up all night with a fever and was sick all over my bed at 8am just as I was trying to ward off ms.

I have had pains in tummy the last couple of days, I was lifting things i shouldnt though Im starting to show also and have boobs like Jordan. I have also been sure as sure I have felt quickenings when lying in bed which is worrying me into thinking I have twins.

MW booking in on Wed avo so will find out what happens here with scans etc, getting jumpy now.

Hope everyone else is well x

nh101andhertwinbeans · 05/11/2007 16:58

Hi everyone hope it is going OK. I saw the twins today on the scan - 10 weeks and a couple of days now although she didn't say exactly. They are 34 and 38mm if I recall right. I am off work this week cos can't face the sickness and tiredness so won't be back online till next week.

Check out the pic on my profile and good luck everyone (g43 - thinking of you mate and anyone else who is bleeding).

debinaustria · 05/11/2007 17:31

NH101 - another great scan photo, your twins are growing well by the sound of it.

Josey - hope your dd soon gets better, I can't imagine having to deal with sick whilst suffering as we all are!

I've been to bed again this afternoon. Making the most of MIL here for the last night and she's cooking tea.

Hello everyone, just checking in....have not been able to post for a few days, just been so busy, not been able to do any 'leisure' emailing etc. But read through most of posts...am quite envious of you all with early scans, I am seven weeks tomorrow so 5 weeks to go for me.........can't bear it!!

debs lovely picture.
ernest hang in there and lazylou I feel for you re work - I am panicking about it already!(have 6 month old and work for myself)Finishing your degree and cutting down your hours sounds like a good compromise. Also, I am very spotty too. Gutted! Chin like the moon!

libralady · 05/11/2007 19:16

Where's the reset button gone? My threads are getting long and I reset them so I know where I read up to in the past!

TwilightSurfer · 05/11/2007 20:19

Oooo I love all the scan photos. I'm guessing Deb & NH are having boys. There's not an ounce of logic behind my guess but there's a 50/50 chance I'm right.

The nurse called just minutes after I passed the most blood to date(TMI: It was bright red so VERY scary). She said the scan showed plenty of excess fluid so that is hopefully what I'm seeing. Because I'm not in any pain it's really not likely that I'm miscarrying. She told me again the baby looked great in the scan pics/video. She ended by saying if a miscarriage is going to happen then it will just happen...try not to worry, relax and stay off your feet for a while. So that's that. Letting go and allowing what will be, be, is soooooo not my nature. This is becoming the learning experience I NEVER wanted but I guess I was due a little education. Since typed words are difficult to "read": I'm not angry or mad or frustrated or paniced or distraught. I'm just hanging in here being a bit extraverted so I don't internalize and become all those emotions listed above. If I miscarry, then I miscarry. In my mind miscarriages happen for the best of reasons. Life is however...survival of the fitest. I just don't want anything life threatening to happen to me that would keep me from caring for my DD...or myself. So I'll just wait and see what happens...................

TwilightSurfer · 05/11/2007 21:14

Ladies, I started reading a new parenting book today called buddhism for mothers, a calm approach to caring for yourself and your children. It's actually quite nice so I thought I'd share. Terrible THREEs here so any advice is NICE.

debinaustria · 05/11/2007 21:35

TS - it sounds like your new book is just what you need.

I had a rough time with ds1 when he was 3 , and I was his Nursery teacher too!!! Which didn't help, one of his problems was his blood sugar levels seemed to drop quite quickly and then his behaviour deteriorated. I kept a constant supply of crackers, fruit, breadsticks handy and it did help.

What's your DD testing you with then?

Upsidedowncake · 05/11/2007 21:50

Everyone, so lovely to read the nice news.

Looney - just saw your news. That is fab fab fab.

looneytune · 06/11/2007 03:21

Can't believe I've woken up with the most terrible hunger pains, I just HAD to get up and eat!!! Off back to bed in the hope I can get straight back to sleep but just want to say hi to Upsidedowncake and thanks - I will catch up with the thread tomorrow if I can (had a bad day today so never got chance).

Kif · 06/11/2007 08:10

I still don't have a scan date! I think I might phone the hospital today to gently follow up. My doc said she would ask for my appointment to come through earlier because i wasn't sure on my dates, and she said some things can only be checked pre-12 weeks.

systemsaddict · 06/11/2007 08:15

Hope you got back to sleep looney! Love the pics nh101, hope you feel better soon.

TwilightSurfer, I will check that book out, sounds like just my sort of thing. My current fave parenting tome is 'Your Child Your Way' by Tanya Byron - though of course slightly ironic I have to read a book to tell me that ...! I try and avoid most books with 'advice' in after finding they just made me insecure and feeling like I was doing the wrong thing, but I like ones that help me feel chilled out about this whole parenting business. I had to start learning the 'what will be will be' message when dealing with infertility first time round - such a shock not to be able to control my biggest life plan, I am normally a bit of a control freak, but definitely one of the most useful learning experiences I could have had. And of course a semi-unplanned pregnancy this time has helped me continue learning that lesson!!

Feeling much much better here, my sickness has gone completely and I am getting things back to normal around the house and feeling much more on top of things. Hoping this is not a bad sign - I was wiped out yesterday evening which was reassuring and have a definite bump now. Scan day after tomorrow, I feel a bit in limbo waiting to hear if things are OK, if all is well need to shift up a gear and start trying to move house!

katyjo · 06/11/2007 09:51

What do you think your due date is kif? Mine is approx the 3rd of June and I just received my scan date for the 21/11/07, I was a bit worried as they have sent me to the hospital, and last time I was just at the community clinic for scan etc (only do one in glasgow - very tight!) I phoned to find out if there was a problem and they said the clinic was backed up and couldn't fit me in until mid dec!
I was a bit worried last night as I was really uncomfortable and getting pain across my abdomen but I have decided it's just gas!!

Hope everyone is feeling well this morning!

goingfor3 · 06/11/2007 10:29

Hello everyone I'm starving this morning, probably because we have no food in the house and I wrote a shopping list for this evening so I have food on the mind! I'm having my scan tommorow and sorting out my plan of care with the consultant, it will be good to know exactley when I'm going to get scanned this pregnancy. My belly seemed really bog a couple of days ago but seems smaller now probably due to the lack of food! It's lovely to see everyones scan pictures, I will try to put up mine from last week and hopefully update again tommorow.

GardenAngel4 · 06/11/2007 10:33

Morning all, DD finally decided to have a nap! Well my MS turned up last night in style - 4am. Had forgotten how truly awful it is!I am starving but can't eat or taste anything. Has yours improved at all deb? Am back on lemon and ginger tea and ginger ale and that seems to help a bit.sybil mine ended 12weeks on the dot last time....

systemaddict how far down the moving chain are you? I can sympathise..we moved last year 2 weeks before DD was born, after 2 houses falling through twice. BUT it was the easiest move ever. I just sat on a chair and pointed! I highly recommend a packing service. Everyone thought we were mad moving but it was really quite calm and of course gave me masses of nesting opportunities!

twilightsurfer I am thinking of you. I admire your stoicism enormously. Look forward to some nuggets from the book!

systemsaddict · 06/11/2007 11:23

We had the house on the market for a few months earlier this year but no offers - didn't make enough effort really, could have done more decluttering and tidying, and several others on the street were for sale too so wasn't a great time. Eventually we decided that although small the three of us could manage here for a while longer if we did some stuff to it, eg gated off the yard for ds to play in, so took it off the market again - then I found out I was pg the next week - so we actually do have to move now, there really isn't space for an extra person here, and I know if we don't do it while I'm pg we won't manage it till new baby is at least 18 months. But too superstitious to tempt fate by doing anything about it till the scan, so if all is well we move into gear this weekend ... your tale is reassuring GardenAngel as I could see similar happening to us!

GardenAngel4 · 06/11/2007 11:31

Yes, don't you just wish they'd give you a scan at the first appointment, life is just on hold until then.

You are definitely doing the right thing moving whilst pregnant, mad though others will think you are. You are right, it will be 18 months before you feel sane enough to do it again. When our houses fell through (both on day of exchange!) in the 4/5 weeks before due date, I just left it all in the hands of fate and thought we either move or we don't and lo and behold we found a house with people as desperate to move as we were and it all went through in less than 4 weeks! I think being pregnant helped because it proved we weren't going to muck them about. Keep me posted!!

ernest · 06/11/2007 12:25

I've moved twice when about 6 months pg, 2nd time emigrated, so I would say it's not so bad. Possible be emigrating again this pg but don't know yet. Don't fancy joining dh in Milan.

Can't wait for 1st doc appointment - not till next Teasday. I dreamt last night I had lost the baby nad today tummy def. feels smaller, so not feeling great but I'm sure it's all just vivid pg dreams/imagination, but I'll be gald to get 1st doctors visit under my belt (& hopefully a scan to rule out twins).

I think I and everyone else will have a heart attack if it's twins

debinaustria · 06/11/2007 13:19

We moved house 4 days before ds2 was born!! It was a new house and they kept postponing the date to move in , and I was getting more panicked!!

We had Mil staying though, she helped pack, we had lots of help to move and on the day they put a bed up for me and I went to sleep. It was hectic but I was so glad to do it before then I had all my maternity leave to unpack and sort out the house.

Rolf · 06/11/2007 13:25

Deb - great scan picture. It's very clear isn't it?

TwilightSurfer - sorry to hear about the scary bleeding. You sound as though you're dealing with it very well. Fingers crossed

I had some bleeding last night which really scared me. it was just a little bit but it was red. I went to bed and slept for hours which has made me feel better, and there's been no more bleeding today.

I know that one is supposed to carry on with life as usual but my body and all my instincts are telling me to go to sleep at every opportunity. So I've missed swimming today with DD (which we both love) and we're having a lovely quiet day together at home.

Ernest I've moved house during 3 pregnancies - NEVER AGAIN! I salute your stoicism!

Having said DD and I were having a quiet day she has now decided that she doesn't want a nap after all and is bellowing mightily!

debinaustria · 06/11/2007 13:52

Rolf - he kept getting me to shift my bottom and tilt my pelvis to get the right picture!! The gynaecologist that is!!
