@PurplePansy05 I think it completely depends on the Trust. I know that another hospital near to us offer it on the NHS, although I’m not sure what their criteria is as to who it is offered to. I did contact them to see if they could offer it to patients not registered at that hospital but unfortunately not at the moment. In our last pregnancy at our hospital it was originally offered to us at our hospital after our 12 week scan due to risks being identified but we would have still had to pay. As you say it’s a completely personal decision and if it provides reassurance then it’s got to be a good thing. I would just want to make sure I had the test at somewhere I could trust as I worry about the after care at some places if you do get concerning results.

PurplePansy05 · 23/01/2021 10:46

Absolutely agree re aftercare @notinthestarsigns, I feel the same aboit private scans too. I'd never again go anywhere else either for NIPT or a private scan than a reputable private hospital, exactly for that reason, I've made that mistake before and in my experience it's definitely worth to pay a bit more for specialist aftercare if you pay anyway. I hope everything will be ok, the sonographer (who works day to day in my NHS hospital actually) said that whilst we were a tad too early to measure NT (the baby was measuring 40mm at 11 weeks), it looked "nice and tight" so hopefully things will stay this way and nothing else is wrong 🤞

notinthestarsigns · 23/01/2021 10:51

That sounds positive @PurplePansy05 and I hope you don’t have to wait too long for the results! It must have been lovely to see baby wriggling around again on the scan too, and hopefully that provided you with some reassurance.

PurplePansy05 · 23/01/2021 10:55

Thank you @notinthestarsigns 😊 Yes, it was such joy to watch 💜 I'm still anxious about the 12 week scan as we all are, and I think this will continue throughout, I'll just have the bad stuff at the back of my head. But I'm working hard on myself to leave this aside and focus on the here and now and be grateful 😊 I saw a lovely rainbow outside my house yesterday, made me smile 😊

notinthestarsigns · 23/01/2021 10:58

I’m also looking completely battered and bruised after only 2 weeks of heparin injections, god knows what I’ll look like in another few weeks!

notinthestarsigns · 23/01/2021 11:00

@PurplePansy05 aww that’s lovely! I think trying to be positive where you can is good, but also don’t beat yourself up if you have days where you can’t and the anxiety takes over!

PurplePansy05 · 23/01/2021 11:03

Ah where do you have your injections @notinthestarsigns? Do you administer them yourself, daily? I'd be useless with this, I feel for you 🌺 How long are you on heparin for? xx

notinthestarsigns · 23/01/2021 11:08

@PurplePansy05 they are injected into my stomach, but I am bruising really badly from them so running out of places to inject already! I have heard that you can also inject into other parts of your body so may have to look into that. I had them after the birth last time but didn’t bruise this badly. Yes they are daily but my husband does them as I don’t like to look at the needle as it goes in! I am to continue them throughout the pregnancy, although I think you stop them a few days before the birth, it will hopefully all be worth it in the end!

BertieBotts · 23/01/2021 11:14

Hmm DH has just informed me I shouldn't be showing yet unless it's twins. How rude!! :o

We are in the process of swapping DS1 and DS2's bedrooms, so will be decorating.

PurplePansy05 · 23/01/2021 11:30

@BertieBotts Is he very slim? I'd tell him in response he shouldn't be showing at all, ever, cheeky. Check him out, a male bump specialist 🤣

@notinthestarsigns Ouch, that's a long time to have injections. I'd deffo look at some other spots but maybe not the bottom in case you're uncomfortable! xx

NewMamma21 · 23/01/2021 11:38

Thanks for starting the new thread @BertieBotts!

@coffeeandrainbows1 I just bought some maternity clothes too, and OMG they are soo comfy! I was worried it was a bit early but so glad I did it now. I haven’t been able to stand anything on my stomach & it feels great to be comfortable in jeans again. I’m not showing yet but have been bloated since the beginning & my tummy is starting to feel harder rather than bloated now.

We had an early 8 weeks scan (midwife did the calculation wrong first time) & have my dating scan booked in for next Saturday, I can’t wait but also feel nervous. I think we’ll book a private gender scan around 16 weeks so hubby can see baby too as he’s not allowed at the NHS scans.

Has anyone else been having trouble with tummy acid / gallbladder problems? I’ve had nausea & morning (ha! All day) sickness which is reasonably manageable but I’ve had such awful stomach pain. Dr has put me on meds and they are helping but hasn’t resolved it.

K2a0t1i5e · 23/01/2021 16:59

Hi all, Thanks for your well wishes for my scan. I had it and it's measuring just as it should, had a little wave and a wiggle. Could see and hear the heartbeat too. Picture not the best but the reassurance is what I needed. Smile

BananaHammock23 · 23/01/2021 17:34

@notinthestarsigns I feel for you! We had IVF and I feel like a pin cushion. I started injecting in my upper thighs when I'd ran out of places, I don't know if that's an option for you?

@BertieBotts DS2 is so gorgeous!

I've come out in a rash all over my face today which is nice! My skin has tiny bumps all over it, it's so uncomfortable. Still not sure about whether I can take antihistamine so have text my midwife to find out 🤔 when we were having IVF our consultant advised against it, but I could really bloody do with one now!

PurplePansy05 · 23/01/2021 17:39

@BananaHammock23 Do you know what may have caused your rash? I too read antihistamines in general are a no no unfortunately, but I think there may be one considered safe in pregnancy, sadly can't remember which one, sorry.

Does it look like sun rash?

Congratulations @K2a0t1i5e, I bet you must be relieved now 🌺😊

Miniheart · 23/01/2021 17:51

Congrats @K2a0t1i5e must be such an amazing feeling to be able to see all is well. Pleased for you.

ItsPrincesspeach · 23/01/2021 18:06

@notinthestarsigns I have spots on my chin too... I was thinking it was from wearing a mask but I’ve been in the house too long for it to be that!

@coffeeandrainbows1 I’ve moved into the maternity wear, I don’t know if I’m just mega bloated or if I’ve popped out! Only got a couple of bits as I know where we’re due August I’ll be needing mainly summer clothes. My DD is an august baby too so I know I just lived in stretchy shorts and oversized T-shirt’s so not going to bother too much.

We’re going to find out the sex this time, mainly so I know whether to keep my daughters clothes or pass them on to my SIL, we have got lots of neutral as we didn’t find out with DD. We might go for a private scan at 16 weeks to find out!

MrsB2019x · 23/01/2021 19:48

Lovely scan @K2a0t1i5e!

BertieBotts · 23/01/2021 20:02

Aww thanks everyone for fawning over DS2 Blush :o

Purple no, he's fatter than me :o I'm not actually bothered but I do wonder what goes through his head sometimes. Surely it ought to be ingrained that that kind of thing should result in instadeath. Sometimes he comes out with the most jaw droppingly blunt stuff.

LyraShaeLilly · 23/01/2021 20:35

Does anybody know how many women get this sickness and nausea until birth, I am really struggling today, and want this to go ASAP. Google told me its usually the really severe form that lasts until birth which is what K Middy had that's HG. I really hope this goes at 12 weeks. Also I have so much respect for those of you that have a toddler to look after whilst going through this sickness!!! I find myself cooking one thing and by the time its cooked I have changed my mind and cant eat it!!! But I'm not vomiting and what I do eat is staying down which is good!!

LyraShaeLilly · 23/01/2021 20:38

Also regarding the vaccine I am front line NHS worker so have been eligible but I am not having it, I feel risk is too much of an unknown, I may get it after by 20 week scan when baby is bigger and I know everything is ok as that is when I'm entering the most at risk stage for covid and pregnancy.

LyraShaeLilly · 23/01/2021 20:42

Also should mention I'm going into work but don't have to go to wards so it's just desk duties for me until 28 weeks then WFH

Miniheart · 23/01/2021 21:13

@MrsB2019x great that your boss can let you wfh. @LyraShaeLilly thanks for sharing. I still do some face to face work with my families but we aren’t a health care setting and if I’m in the office then I can work in my own space. I share your views, fortunately we can be relatively safe at work, and whilst we are still so early on and research is still not complete, it just feels a little risky. I hope to get it once we know more in the coming months.

LetMeOut2021 · 23/01/2021 21:16

I’m 12 weeks and due August 4, I expect a July baby as my first was a week early too.

PurplePansy05 · 23/01/2021 21:23

Lol Bertie, it's definitely instadeath 🤣

I've been googling maternity bras and saw New Look has a 40% sale on maternity clothes if anyone is interested xx

LBunz · 23/01/2021 21:30

Nausea went away a bit today so managed absolutely loads of fajitas so shovelled as much salad and veg in me as possible while the nausea had buggered off! Oh and stocked up on calippos and fruit pastille ice lollies!

I’m lucky (not so lucky) with the maternity wear as I’m quite overweight so I don’t think I’ll get much of a a bump until a lot later. I need to speak to mw at booking in about losing weight as I’m a bit worried about it. I need a plus size and pregnant thread of my own for that I think Grin
