Thanks @PurplePansy05 @notinthestarsigns and @WinterBabyof89 for your comments. It's really tricky to know what to do. I'm sure the hospitals where we're hoping to move are wonderful (in Sussex, where my DH is from), it's just that I have (relatively inactive) Crohns disease and so require special monitoring. the team at my current local hospital is excellent for this. One idea we had would be to start the process of buying and pack up/store some of our stuff before the baby comes, so that moving is a bit easier, and of course we'd ask friends and family to help a bit if the baby was already here when we moved. Unlike Purple, we are going to have to try to get a place that doesn't need much renovation, just because we think that will add an extra layer of stress when things are already imperfect!

PurplePansy05 · 04/02/2021 12:54

@WolfMother326 This makes a lot of sense and you wouldn't need to rush to complete within the next few months. It's always tricky with this, you don't know what kind of people you'll have in the chain, how good the lawyers and EAs are etc. Re renovation I definitely wouldn't want to do it now if we didn't have a trusted builder who already did one for us, he's a gem and I'm holding on to him for as long as he continues to work! xx

Alittlexmasmagic · 04/02/2021 13:04

@WolfMother326 I moved shortly before DS was born but a completely different scenario to yours. Planning is everything!
I'd agree with @wimbler, get removal men in to pack and move. Worth their weight in gold. Whether you're pregnant or have just given birth, that ain't a stress you need. Living around half packed boxes in the lead up/following is a mare.
Unless you're going down the ELCS route, baby will turn up when it wants anywhere over a 5/6 week period. If you wait to move until after 42wks, you've much less chance of baby unexpectedly throwing a spanner in the works.
Also worth considering the chain you might end up in. You just need one difficult link and delays happen. Again, planning for later, these delays won't impact on birth plans x

WinterBabyof89 · 04/02/2021 13:08

Second what @PurplePansy05 is saying.

I find the most stressful part is the leading up to move, all the prep, chasing solicitors etc. It took 6 months for us to complete on our house despite being first time buyers and the house we were buying being vacant.

These babies will be here before we know it. Last year flew by and this was (un)officially the quickest January to have ever been!

WolfMother326 · 04/02/2021 13:18

Thanks everyone, all so helpful to think about! @PurplePansy05 and @WinterBabyof89 this is exactly what we were thinking, we don't want to be stressed about how long things take, so we were thinking we'd just make our flat cozy for a baby with the basics and get more things whenever the move can happen.

@wimbler and @Alittlexmasmagic - moving men doing the packing too is such a good idea! And also a good idea to consider the chain and how smoothly that might run.

I will keep you posted as we decide what to do!

HangryDoughnut · 04/02/2021 13:28

Hello, I've been lurking here for awhile but didn't want to post until after my dating scan yesterday!
All went well even if it did take over an hour for measurements as we have a stubborn baby in there, but it's good to be able to join you all.

@WolfMother326 in my last pregnancy we completed exactly 1 month before our daughter was born, it was a mad month of painting and organising and then we moved in during the first 2 weeks after she was born whilst DP was on paternity. The moving was definitely the least stressful bit!

Miniheart · 04/02/2021 13:42

@WolfMother326 I’m in a similar position. We live in a one bed flat in London and want to move about 30-40 mins out. I’ve been a bit torn because I’m very lucky to have lots of friends living locally so I feel like I’ll be moving away from my support network. But equally, and quite importantly, we need more space and I’d rather try and get through the process of moving whilst pregnant instead of with a new born. I’m a first timer but I’ve heard and I’m sure lots of mums on here will say that it’s fine to have less space with a newborn as the baby is in with you but I more worry about if my partner is still WFH and how tricky that would be juggling him on loud work calls with me trying to look after a baby in a confined space. It sounds like that journey would be quite a trek to and from the hospital, but it might not be for that long depending on when the move happens, I agree with @PurplePansy05 could you research hospitals in your new area and see if they might be just as good?

MrsB2019x · 04/02/2021 14:02

Dating scan went beautifully today 😍 We had a student sonographer in with us so our scan was really long and quite detailed as it was all explained to the student. Due on 13th August still 😁

WinterBabyof89 · 04/02/2021 14:26

What a lovely photo @MrsB2019x
And what a perk of a long scan!

Miniheart · 04/02/2021 14:36

Fabulous picture @MrsB2019x really pleased for you!

PurplePansy05 · 04/02/2021 14:45

Ahhh yes @MrsB2019x! Fabulous news, lovely photo! That's a girl I think! 💝 I bet you're over the moon now? xx

Ladies, quick question and sorry TMI! I've noticed I'm having a fair bit of entirely see through watery discharge recently, it is not soaking up my underwear, but it's a fair amount. Definitely more than usual. There's usually a patch of creamy discharge and a much bigger patch of watery discharge around it, I took a photo but I'll save you that pleasure. Is this normal or should I be worried about leaking fluid?? xx

SS123456 · 04/02/2021 14:59

@MrsB2019x that photo is super cute! ❤️

biscuitcat · 04/02/2021 15:04

Oh wonderful @MrsB2019x! And what a gorgeous photo, it's so clear! So happy for you!

Alittlexmasmagic · 04/02/2021 15:11

@MrsB2019x gorgeous pic!!

@PurplePansy05 increased discharge is completely normal. Mention it to your MW if you're worried and it doesn't stop. Can be easily identified with an internal swab test.x

Jessicapebbles · 04/02/2021 15:31

Does anyone else suffer with Carpul Tunnel syndrome during their previous pregnancies?
I suffered really badly with my first - totally numb in both hands and forearms for weeks.

I can feel it starting to creep back now, my right hand is already partially numb. It’s so so frustrating, especially as I work in a shop so I am constantly picking things up. I’ve been doing the recommended exercises but really feel they aren’t helping.

Last time the doctors were so dismissive and basically put me in splints full time. 😭😭

Jessicapebbles · 04/02/2021 15:32

@MrsB2019x Wow what a gorgeous scan photo! Your little baby has such a gorgeous little face already! 😍😍

notinthestarsigns · 04/02/2021 17:21

Glad all went well @MrsB2019x and lovely pic too.

@Jessicapebbles I got carpal tunnel in my last pregnancy, it was still quite bad a few months after so I was referred to a specialist to look at potentially having an op because they said they would have expected it to go away by then if it was going to, but then it eventually did go away before I got an appt. I’m really hoping it doesn’t come back this time, it’s horrible isn’t it x

Jessicapebbles · 04/02/2021 17:26

@notinthestarsigns I’ve heard it’s really common but yet nobody I know with kids has suffered. It started around this time afterwards and luckily disappeared quite quickly after birth but it starts so early for me that it takes away a bit of the magic for me because I’m so uncomfortable 😞. I really hope you don’t suffer it again, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone! I don’t suppose you had pre eclampsia too did you? I suffered with that too and wasn’t sure if there was a link?

PurplePansy05 · 04/02/2021 17:35

Thank you @Alittlexmasmagic. I rang my MW she just said one sentence "I can't speak to you, I'm dealing with an emergency" and put the phone down on me. That's after not answering for over 4 hours. I only rang 3 times not to bother her too much. Anyway.

I rang my GP who said EPU will call me later, I suspect they'll try to fob me off and tell me I exaggerate. I am a bit worried though because I had no discharge at all in this pregnancy (apart from minor spotting twice) and thought I'm very dry, whereas yesterday and today it suddenly feels very different and it's more and more watery than pre-pregnancy. It practically looks like a large patch of water, no odour, no colour. I changed my undies to keep an eye and it isn't as much as earlier this afternoon yet, but it feels damp quickly. xx

MrsB2019x · 04/02/2021 17:35

Thank you so much ladies!! You’re all so lovely 🥺

@PurplePansy05 I’m thinking girl too and so are quite a few people on the FB group 😂 in terms of the CM it’s definitely normal to get more, I’ve had it too

PurplePansy05 · 04/02/2021 17:37

She'll be gorgeous @MrsB2019x 😊 Very pretty already! xx

notinthestarsigns · 04/02/2021 17:40

@Jessicapebbles no I didn’t have pre eclampsia. Mine was like a constant dull ache that didn’t go away but then I’d get the numbness and the pinks and needles too. At one point I was waking every night with the whole of my arm feeling numb and really bad pins and needles, I haven’t known anyone else who has had it in pregnancy either.

Alittlexmasmagic · 04/02/2021 17:50

@PurplePansy05 I had similar last time, you'll probably notice it comes and goes. I mentioned it to MWs several times but they weren't concerned. I did get swabbed but was negative. The babies fluid levels were fine too x

BertieBotts · 04/02/2021 19:00

I have constant discharge all through my pregnancies, I go through about four pantyliners every day. It's actually really annoying because although there's nothing bad about the smell, it's not bacteria or anything, I really dislike it and it smells so strong to me I can smell it through my clothing if I'm sitting on the floor Blush Scented pantyliners make it worse, but I struggle to find non scented ones where I live. There are only two brands which don't disintegrate into balls of cotton wool (yuck) and they are both "premium" brands so seem to think we want scents everywhere Confused

HopefulB · 04/02/2021 19:18

So pleased for you @MrsB2019x, hope you can relax a little now.

Re CM if it’s a normal colour and no smell, I’d try not to worry @PurplePansy05, it’s there to protect the baby from infection. It’s also caused by increasing oestrogen levels - which is what your body should be doing at this stage Smile. I didn’t really notice it in my last pregnancy (and you know how that ended), so I see it a good thing in this one!
