@LBunz please don't worry at all!
As Pansy says some of us have been through multiple losses/have complex medical history which is why we know lots about different tests etc. I have just been discussing the Panorama test with my doctor because we are considering whether it will tell us our risk factor for Angelman syndrome, which is something related to my husband's translocation. If he didn't have this, I wouldn't be doing any NIPT at all, and the majority of people don't because it's not covered by the NHS so you have to pay. That said, your midwife will normally give you info about this at the booking in appointment. If you didn't get any and you want info about the tests you can opt for, there is a good NHS page with info here: www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/your-pregnancy-care/screening-tests/
When my first son was born (and he is only 12) they didn't even exist so it's really very new to the market and definitely not a necessity. Sometimes I think they actually just prey on your anxiety as a mum to be and probably aren't really necessary for most people, especially if your risk factors for genetic abnormalities are low.
Also when you hang around pregnancy and parenting boards for 13+ years you end up hearing a lot of different terms and learning lots of things.
@PurplePansy05 awww yay congratulations! How exciting to find out! DH is desperate to know but he wants me to ask the doctor to write it down in an envelope :o so we are settling for comparing stupid things like heartrate (says Girl), skull and nub theory - which I thought said girl but now I'm unsure for the latest pic.
The pregnancy pillows we sold in the shop I worked in didn't seem that expensive - the branded ones are Theraline. They had their own brand ones as well which seemed just as good.
Appointment was fine and managed to get the referral paper dropped off :) DS2 unfortunately then got really hung up on a giant McDonald's ad so we just had to stop for nuggets on the way home :o
