Can't believe it. Just got my BFP today and by my reckoning baby should be due 1st July.
Is there anyone else out there?

Hi ladies....can't stay on mn long as feeling very sick...been feeling rotten....i didn't think morning sickness kicked in this quick....or I should say all day and all night sickness
hope your all well ..my que to leave and take residence in the bathroom...

paulaplumpbottom · 08/11/2007 14:50

I just ban those things from the house. I would have trouble resisting a lovely smelly camenbert

expatinscotland · 08/11/2007 14:51

dd2 also fed straightaway.

abuot her only issue was that she sometimes wouldn't open her mouth wide enough or i wasn't fast enough putting her on the breast when she had the mouth wide, then she'd bite and i'd have to take her off and she'd get very angry about that.

sweetkitty · 08/11/2007 14:53

I'm not surprised expat, it takes a while to come to terms with being pregnant even if you have planned it with military precision like me. I'm quite detached still from being pregnant this time but thats my defence mechanism in case something goes wrong, I keep forgetting as well.

Labour is only a few hours of your life, OK not very nice hours but I keep thinking once this one is out then I can very happily say I am never doing THAT again and mean it.

paulaplumpbottom · 08/11/2007 14:53

How long did you breastfeed?

expatinscotland · 08/11/2007 14:54

i just forget.

i was craving a nip of Drambuie last night, when it started to blow a gale, and then thought, 'nah, gotta have some herbal tea.'

expatinscotland · 08/11/2007 14:56

w/dd2, i lasted till 4 months.

i had to go back to work, so i mixed fed from about a month.

this one i'm determined to go to 6 months exclusively, at least.

sweetkitty · 08/11/2007 14:58

me I BF DD1 for 12 months until she self weaned when I was 3 months pregnant which was fine for me. DD2 for 15 months she kind of self weaned as well i.e. got up one morning had a cup of milk and then I remembered I hadn't BF her and thought oh well the end.

paulaplumpbottom · 08/11/2007 15:01

I lasted 18months. I think we were both just ready to stop

sweetkitty · 08/11/2007 15:06

I have been pregnant-breastfeeding-pregnant-breastfeeding-2 months break-pregnant-mc-2 months break- pregnant again since November 2003!

If you had told me that 5 years ago I never would have believed you.

expat - are you working right now?

paulaplumpbottom · 08/11/2007 15:12

You are just getting it all over with at once Sweetkitty

sweetkitty · 08/11/2007 15:15

That's true Paula, I wanted them close together and will feel very lucky if this one sticks and I do get them close together. And I'm not getting any younger.

meglet · 08/11/2007 15:47

paula I'm eager for a summer baby as I need a c-section and found recovering in the winter last year made me feel wretched. At least this way I don't have to wear lots of clothes to keep me warm which hurt my scar . Plus the fact that DS can run around in the garden if its nice weather, our house is very small so there is not really much room for him to play inside.

expatinscotland · 08/11/2007 16:14

i'm at home just now, kitty.

no plans to go back to work.

paulaplumpbottom · 08/11/2007 16:32

Never thought about clotheshurting the scar

sweetkitty · 08/11/2007 17:29

I've had a July baby and a January one much preferred having one in July. It's nice to take them out for a walk without the layers/snowsuit etc and I have this idea that the baby can be asleep in a pram in the garden whilst the DDs play. Only thing about having a baby in July was last time I was in London in a tiny 2 bed flat with no garden and it was boiling which was difficult. This time in Scotland with a garden, I hope next Summer is better than this one though.

One good thing about having a winter baby is you can wrap your post baby flabby belly up in warm jumpers and layers, Summer clothes not very good at hiding the jelly belly and the huge maternity pads.

expat - I knew you worked before but didn't think you were working now that you have moved. Just think you will be able to go for lovely countryside walks with the new baby and your DDs next Summer.

paulaplumpbottom · 08/11/2007 18:04

My dd was born in July and I remember how miserable I was in the heat before I gave birth. It was the first time I realised that we didn't have air conditioning. It was awful

meglet · 08/11/2007 18:48

Didn't think about the heat problems paula. Hopefully we won't have any really hot weather until after we have the babies. Then again the heat won't be great for them, but I am getting a mini air conditioing unit as DS's room was going up to 27 degrees with the curtains shut this summer - and it wasn't even good weather this year (she says bitterly, moan moan moan!).

paulaplumpbottom · 08/11/2007 19:27

yes a repeat of this past summer will be fine by me

sweetkitty · 08/11/2007 20:01

I'm not too bad here in Scotland we get nice sunny days without the stiffling heat of down South (well maybe one or two sunny days). I remember DD1 being in nothing but a vest for about a month after she was born.

paulaplumpbottom · 08/11/2007 20:06

My dd was like that. It was such a hot summer. I think that is why she still hates being wrapped up

expatinscotland · 08/11/2007 20:57

i have both a summer and a winter daughter and much prefer summer, tbh.

i think giving birth in winter really exacerbated my PND.

we weren't able to get dd2 out as much (this is Scotland) as we did dd1 and in addition to developing jaundice, i also think it contributed to her not sleeping as well.

am so looking forward to summer time picnics and strolls and having BBQs outside with the new one.

sweetkitty · 08/11/2007 21:27

I agree expat summer babies are better IMO although DD1 was my jaundiced baby not DD2 but I think thats because she never left my boob for the first week so it all got flushed through her system.

paulaplumpbottom · 08/11/2007 21:28

Did your PND last long?

expatinscotland · 08/11/2007 21:32

yes, it did, paula, both times.
