Can't believe it. Just got my BFP today and by my reckoning baby should be due 1st July.
Is there anyone else out there?

No such thing with two LOs I'm afraid, I'm just enjoying the time when I'm not feeling dog rough or in agony with the SPD.

DP did say once upon a time that if I got pregnant again he would pay for a cleaner to come in once a week and blitz the house, will need to remind him of that!

paulaplumpbottom · 06/11/2007 17:45

I lost my cleaner over the Summer and desperate to find a new one now. It does take a load off. I was dead set against having one but when I came back from the hospital with DD1 she was there. It was one of the nicest things he ever did

Choccie75 · 06/11/2007 17:55

Have been laughing my head off catching up with the threads!

Just came back from first GP appointment and am 5+6 and have to call hopsital to book in scan.

She tested me again, took my blood pressure, weighed me and told me what i couldn't eat and that was it really. Have my first midwife appointment on 20th December.

Can anyone offer advice on having the combined Nuchal Fold and Blood Test to diagnose probability of downs syndrome?

I was thinking of booking an appointment, i'm in my early thirties but would like peace of mind.

mylittleeloise · 06/11/2007 18:04

Chocci what makes you concerned that the baby might have Downs.

Congradulations Mylittleeloise

baby3 · 06/11/2007 18:54

mums, they always think they know best!! I let my children tell their nanny today that I had a baby in my tummy as I was too scared to do it, she was actually not too bad but then went on about how she'd got rid of all the baby stuff and how I would need to buy it all.... I said that all i planned to get for the first 6 months was a car seat and some non disposable nappies as I already have a sling which is all I plan to use... she said well you'll def need a cot, to which i said no as the baby will sleep with me.... i then recieved a lecture about how all babies should sleep in their own bed and have a routine!!!!

jazzandh · 06/11/2007 18:57

Chez - Sorry that you are under the weather -I confess normally I'm one to knock back drugs to combat coughs and colds - so it's always a shock to the system when you get a bug and you have to suffer! Hope you're feeling better soon. I'm not far away from Medway - just outside West Malling.

Chocci - I've been looking into the screenings - I'm 38 - so risk on paper has multiplied enormously since last time...still trying to absorb what's what.

Congratulations - Mylittleeloise.

paulaplumpbottom · 06/11/2007 19:06

Did your Nanny just throw the baby things out?

libralady · 06/11/2007 19:26

I think I got the slipped discs when sleeping on the floor at Odstock hospital when my son was admitted urgently after spilling a cup of coffee on himself. I had full blown flu at the time and never recovered from sleeping on the hard floor in his room. He was only 1.10 at the time so was still in a cot and was bandaged all over his face and chest and arms after having skin grafts. Hopefully my back has now been sorted by the operation, but I am a little bit scared that this baby may also lie on the sciatic nerve.

I'm also looking into having the nuchal scan and tests as I'm also 38. They were offered to me last time, but because it had taken me over 3 yrs to get pg, we thought it could be our one and only chance and with the minimal risk of mc, we were grateful to have a child, even with SN. As it was, DS was born perfect in everyway, and despite his accident, he has been so lucky. No scarring to his face, 2 finger nail size grafts on his chest, a slightly larger one on the inside of his left arm and although he pulled the graft off under his chin, the only mark there is like a silvery stretch mark, which is fading every day. We were soooo lucky with him. My parents feel so guilty as he was with them at the time. BUt it just shows you, you cannot take your eyes off them for a second. We didn't even realise he could reach up to the kitchen work tops, let alone grab a cup a freshly made coffee!

poor baby

Choccie75 · 06/11/2007 19:47

Paula - just the on paper stats and two friends of mine have had CVS testing due to positive nuchal tests and were both my age, 32.

They both had beautiful babies without DS!

I think i will book them in for peace of mind.

meglet · 06/11/2007 20:00

hi everyone. I'm booked in for my first midwife apt on 29th Nov, I'm eager to have a 12 weeks scan this time so I'm going to stand my ground and try and get one this time. [stomping feet emoticon].

Three of my friends are now pregnant too, all due June / July, although they don't know i am yet. Am going to tell parents and lil sis next week. Cannot bear the thought of telling work, I only went back last month.

libralady · 06/11/2007 20:15

Does anyone know if it's alright to have hi-lights done when pg. I booked mine in September before I got pg and I've heard conflicting reports. Has anyone had any experience? Desperately need mine doing as the grey is really beginning to show!

libralady · 06/11/2007 20:21

Meglet,
I've got my booking in appt on 28th November and my 12 week scan on 19th December.
I only returned to work in September after having time off over the summer to recover from my spinal surgery. I too am dreading telling them. I've got 10 days or so off over Christmas so was planning on telling them when I return in January. Haven't even told the family yet. We're planning on telling M&D and PILs at Christmas after the scan by putting a photo of the scan in their Christmas cards. The only people that know so far are my v BF, my colleague at work (who does massage and I had to tell her due to the oils she usually uses on me) and my physio (who's currently on ML herself and I meet up socially with).

who knows when i'll get any sort of appointment now they keep losing or cocking up all these samples and i can't be arsed to put in another one.

i mean, i never saw anyone before i was 16 weeks the other two times, so i'm not bothered.

shattered, but like sweet says, with two other little ones, not a lot of time for shattered.

Verso · 06/11/2007 20:24

Hmm.

I can hardly read the birth stories as my first birth was so traumatic . It's taken a lot to get to the stage of even thinking about another baby. I'd blotted out the grim reality of DD's birth

Feel very scared now, even though my consultant (yes, it was THAT bad) said I should have an elective c-section if I had another baby to prevent permanent faecal incontinence. Thing is, she was at a different hospital to where I am now, so what if the new one says no? And I know a c-section isn't exactly a walk in the park either.

I may lie low for a while as really upset.

libralady · 06/11/2007 20:30

Oh verso
Bigs hugs. What we have to remember is that mankind has been procreating for millions of years, and no two pregnancies or births are the same. It took me some courage to think yes I want another one, after the horror last time. I'm just taking it one day at a time.

OP posts:
meglet · 06/11/2007 20:44

Verso, I really feel for you. Do you know if your consultant put her recommendation in your notes? Surely her opinion still counts .

sweetkitty · 06/11/2007 20:54

libralady - aww your poor baby what a horrid thing for you all to go through, glad he has recovered though. As you say conflicting advice about highlights, I've always had mine done when pregnant, I think theres a tiny tiny risk and theres more chemicals in the food we eat and the air we breathe. The time of exposure is very minimal as well. It's up to the individual though.

verso - so sorry to hear about your bad experience last time, did you sit down with a MW and go through it with you, I know there some people on here had help with coming to terms with a bad birth experience.

welcome and congrats my littleeloise

libralady · 06/11/2007 20:59

If you have a look on my profile page you can see the little man and see he's no worse for wear - thank god!

OP posts:
meglet · 06/11/2007 21:03

aaawwwwww, he's smashing

mylittleeloise · 06/11/2007 22:44

libralady, as far as i know its fine to get highlights done when your pg as the colour doesnt come into contact with your skin with both foils and the cap, i would check with the hairdresser first tho as sometimes they wont touch you if they know your pg

sweetkitty · 06/11/2007 23:04

Your little man is smashing libralady, think he will make a fab big brother.

DD1 has decided she wants a girl baby as boy babies have winkies and she's going to change it's nappies. Haven't told her about the baby yet am going to wait until I start to show and show her the picture. Next July is an age away for a 3 yo.
