Amani · 26/10/2007 09:46

you oldies-stop moaning!!!

actually I don't think I'm that young - just trying to make myself feel better!

skidaddle · 26/10/2007 09:47

suppose it's good for people with dial up who have to wait forever for the page to download

and have just discovered that you can eliminate certain topics from your active conversations like 'for sale' or stuff you're not interested in - now that's a change I do like

Amani · 26/10/2007 09:49

Clarq, you just reminded me of a dream (or nightmare more like) that I had last night. I dreamt that my waters broke while I was in the middle of a really important meeting and it all came gushing out and completely soaked the carpet.

skidaddle · 26/10/2007 09:50

amani - how did claraq remind you of that??!!

claraq · 26/10/2007 09:51

Ok I eat my words about the mums in June 08 - here's a quote from one of them: "God do I not like the new layout! Thanfully there is the link to change it back. Am I old fashioned or something. I know change is progression, but when you've just discovered you are pg you don't need any added complications!"
Right - can anyone tell I am procrastinating because I don't want to go and unload the dishwasher/get the washing on etc? What is everyone else not doing that they should be doing while they are on mumsnet?

skidaddle · 26/10/2007 09:53

claraq - she's probably at least 35 though!

Yes I am procrastinating too - should be writing a chapter of my thesis but have not done anything but look at mn since I came in. It's just soo hard to concentrate on anything other than babies at the moment

claraq · 26/10/2007 09:53

Btw sorry so rude - hello Mimicakey - was thinking the other day had not heard from you in ages. I think I was thinking of you because don't you live in Britsol? We went to the zoo there the other day, which was fun. I love the penguins!

mimicakey · 26/10/2007 09:55

I'm putting off working! But sadly I've been doing that for months now and ML is looming and I might get found out :s So better get on and do something!

mimicakey · 26/10/2007 09:56

Morning claraq! [waves]

I'm looking forward to going to the zoo again soon

Amani · 26/10/2007 09:58

Skid - It's the worry bit - previously I was worried about all the cramping etc and since I've had that dream I'm worried that it may come true - I want to be in the comfort of my home when it all starts (or maybe Marks and Spencers - then they might given me load so of free goddies!)

Amani · 26/10/2007 10:00

I've got 45 statistical returns and analysis to do, but since I'm training my maternity cover up at the same time, trying to share it out with her (or maybe giving her a little more to do instead - she needs the experience ).

claraq · 26/10/2007 10:03

Amani - give it ALL to her, go on! Tell her it's good training.
I think waters breaking in a work meeting might be quite amusing - the men just wouldn't know what to do! They'd probably start boiling kettles and getting towels or something.

SarahPT · 26/10/2007 10:06

Morning Ladies
Hope everyone is well and looking forward to the weekend !
I've got 5 weeks to go and am REALLY starting to feel like an old lady either with back ache or hip pain.
Just wondered whether anyone's tried one of those belly band support things ? And - if so - whether they're worth it?
Can anyone help?

skidaddle · 26/10/2007 10:08

oh I see amani I think your waters breaking in a big gush is rare? I stopped swimming at about 38 weeks last time 'in case my waters break in the pool' I'm a bit embarrassed by that now! I reckon it will just be a trickle and you'll have loads of time to rush to the loo. Might be worth carrying a couple of pads round with you for the last few weeks though?

Love the thought that even if born now our babies would almost certainly be fine

skidaddle · 26/10/2007 10:10

Hi Sarah,

I haven't tried the belly support things but re looking like an old lady - this morning at the bus stop an actual old lady (that I know) asked me how I was, I said fine thanks, she said well you look half-dead!!! Thanks, feel great now

mixedmama · 26/10/2007 10:12

My waters didnt even break... had to remind the MW mid-transition that they hadnt gone.

I really feel like this baby is going to come early not sure why but my BH are so strong sometimes and I am gettign them loads more than last time (in fact not sure I had any last time) and sometimes it actually feels like LO is going to fall out.

skidaddle · 26/10/2007 10:17

MM I have that feeling too but I would really warn against thinking the baby will come early for your own sanity (I lnow your ds was on time but that's not to say this one will follow suit). I convinced myself that dd would come early (head was 3/5 engaged at 35 weeks, lots of cramps, mw thought she would be early etc) and I went 2 weeks over. I was completely fine throughout my whole pregnancy and then those final two weeks I seriosuly lost the plot!

I am thinking this baby WILL be 2 weeks late and then will hopefully be pleasantly surprised when he comes before that

Amani · 26/10/2007 10:22

Is it wrong to give her all of it to do, so I can spend more time on MN? Gin

Amani · 26/10/2007 10:23

By the way got 6 weeks until maternity leave and already have entered that 'I am not motivated' phase.

About waters breaking, mine occured when the m/w done an internal (NOT looking forward to an internal by the way - they had to give me G&A to do it).

skidaddle · 26/10/2007 10:24

amani t'is your right and your duty as a devoted mnetter

mixedmama · 26/10/2007 10:25

You are completely right Skid. I just have this crazy overwhelming feeling. I dont actually remember feeling like DS1 was comign or not tbh. Will adopt the same thought process as you tho, expect two weeks over and be pleased if I get a better offer from LO. Isnt it weird tho that that those two weeks will mean the difference between him being born in 2007 or 2008.

SarahPT · 26/10/2007 10:27

Thanks Skidaddle
I feel a bit better now !
This is baby NO 1 for me and this week I'm just a bit fed up of hearing myself whinge!
Probably as have a christening and a wedding next week and feel like whale!
The belly thing is about a tenner im m/care so may have to investigate!

mixedmama · 26/10/2007 10:28

I am requesting on my birth plan as few internals as possible. I done this last time aswell and the MW were really good about it.

Amani · 26/10/2007 10:46

MM - good idea think I will do the same aswell. It felt like she was shoving her whole arm up me...

dundeemarmalade · 26/10/2007 10:51

skidaddle: how hard is it to do academic-y brain-type work at the moment? i've been ploughing through my Open University end-of-year essays 57 x 3,000+ words, and only have ten more to do but i just can't settle to it. how much of your thesis have you got to go? ?
