Hi all 👋🏻

Here's a new thread so we can keep chatting through the sleepless nights and the many outfits they've already grown out of... 😄

Has anyone been added to the Facebook group yet? I sent a message to crazymama but not sure i did it properly.

That's such a lovely photo @MooseWL
Glad you got to see your parents in the end.

@Smilymami same here, this little lady would sleep in her moses basket during the day but not anymore. Today my mom managed to get her to nap for a few hours in the swing but failed the moses every time. It's so strange because she sleeps OK in the next2me but only at night, and if I try to put her in it before 11 or midnight she'll wake up soon after. I guess it means her circadian rhythm is sorting itself out which is great.

@Sara7455 great to hear your appointment went well yesterday. Wren is such a champion!
@glasha87 you're right, when this crisis ends, ill definitely stop taking things for granted and appreciate small things so much more
Mine is also a noisy sleeper @ordis sometimes she even cries in her sleep 😆

Lilice · 13/10/2020 21:38

Aww @OrDis I'm sure you're doing an amazing job. Sometimes it's so hard when you don't know why they're crying and feel helpless. Don't feel bad. You're lucky your DH manages to calm her down. Some dads are useless and don't really get involved.

ShiningStarz · 13/10/2020 21:52

@Lilice how did you send the msg?! I couldn't work it out

Lilice · 13/10/2020 23:07

@ShiningStarz i think so but i dont know if I did it right. I clicked on the icon at the top, then inbox, and typed a new message to crazymummyto4
But not sure if it worked

Sara7455 · 13/10/2020 23:23

@Lilice I did the same as you but also not sure it worked. I haven’t had a reply or been added to the Facebook group either.
W is the same with his snuzpod. Sleeps fine at night, as soon as it’s daytime though he wants to be held again.

@OrDis - I’m certain you’re doing a great job. W went through phases of being just the same, would need DH to settle him. Then a phase of it being me he wanted. Now either of us. Not sure there’s a lot of logic behind it but I’ve definitely shed my share of tears over it too!

glasha87 · 14/10/2020 06:08

Thank you @Sara7455, hopefully x

@OrDis, for us it got easier from 2-3 weeks onwards - things were very unsettled prior to that. The same goes for my own mood. I definitely had my fair share of teary moments as well as huge anxiety in that period...things have certainly settled and gotten easier ❤️

I think my little one is going through a leap at the moment although she is not due to until Sunday or thereabouts (I too downloaded the Wonder Weeks app after the recommendation). She’s either wide awake and wanting to chat and be entertained non stop for hours on end or as like tonight/this morning wanting to sleep instead of feed 🙈 She doesn’t tend to cry but is certainly fussier than usual too.

She’s damn cute though - so very in love 😻🥰

@MooseWL, your little boy is gorgeous and clearly enamoured with his friend there!

I too managed to figure out how to send a message and have heard nothing as yet x

glasha87 · 14/10/2020 06:12

I bought the Boba X carrier shortly after she was born thinking I would use it straightaway but I know I would be constantly worried about her breathing too so have decided to wait until she’s a bit more alert and animated to use it 😂🙈

OrDis · 14/10/2020 11:16

Thanks all, I think the slower teat has definately helped with her wind a bit which is good although it’s clearly more effort for her and she was falling asleep a lot in the night while feeding and then waking more as she obviously wasn't full.

The wonder weeks app- is that the one that costs £3.99- just want to make sure I get the correct one

glasha87 · 14/10/2020 12:00

Yes, that’s the one, @OrDis!

OrDis · 14/10/2020 14:51

Brill thanks I will download it. DD has literally been awake since 7am today with about 40 minutes of naps! She just will not sleep! I’ve just got her to drop off again now after some rocking in the pram- fingers crossed she has a good stretch now. I’m off for a nap too!

ShiningStarz · 15/10/2020 16:36

Anyone got a payslip yet?
Mine says SMP and OMP on it... but I thought it was supposed to be full pay for 6 weeks. I took mat leave from 9th Sept so that would mean from then to mid Oct would be full pay so not sure why the payslip says OMP and SMP??

WillowT · 15/10/2020 17:20

@ShiningStarz I haven't checked mine but I know I get 90% for the first 6 weeks rather than full. It's probs still says SMP/OMP because you are officially on leave

Sara7455 · 15/10/2020 17:43

@ShiningStarz mine say SMP and EMP as two separate payments. I guess the SMP is the standard mat pay and the EMP is the extra my company pay to top up to the full pay for the first bit?

ShiningStarz · 15/10/2020 19:24

@WillowT @Sara7455 it's confusing isn't it!! My sept and Oct payslips are diff amounts. Sept more than Oct which I suppose makes sense. Will wait to get Nov and Dec and see what the payments are going forward. Hopefully will start to make sense.

Feel lucky right now to be getting paid, thinking of anyone on here who is affected by these lockdowns. It's frightening! I want little one to grow up in a normal world and I fear what the future looks like 🙂

Sara7455 · 15/10/2020 19:32

@ShiningStarz definitely feeling very lucky to be getting paid. SIL is on mat leave past the initial bit where you still get paid and her husband has been made redundant - such a stressful time. So many people affected by these lockdowns it’s awful.
I feel the same about wanting the babies to grow up in a normal world but no idea what the future holds. Already so different with people not being able to hold him and masks everywhere, who knows how long it will last!

Lilice · 16/10/2020 09:43

Hi all how's everyone doing? Has anyone started implementing some sort of bedtime routine? We started giving a bath around 7 pm but impossible to stay asleep on her own for good until about 11pm.

Sara7455 · 16/10/2020 11:42

@Lilice we’ve got a sort of routine in that he gets a bath or just a change and then we go upstairs and dim the lights and put him in bed with his snuzcloud on. He developed his own routine of eating us out of house and home some time between 5&7pm which I assume is his own prep for a big sleep but he’s just turned 6weeks corrected and seems to have regressed a bit. Exhausted the last few days!!

Lilice · 16/10/2020 16:53

Thanks @Sara7455 at what time would he be starting his night sleep? Eva still sleeps around the clock but wont go in her next2me before 11pm. I've tried to put her after her bath and feed, but she wakes up 10 or 20 minutes later, and ends up spending the evening on my chest 😂

Sara7455 · 16/10/2020 17:06

@Lilice he’s usually in the snuzpod by about 9, I’m trying to work on an 8-8 night time window but he has his own ideas about that of course. Sometimes he squawks and wriggles a bit when he’s first down and we try rocking the crib and playing lullaby’s from spotify to see if that will settle him before picking him up. Obviously if he’s actually crying then we get him back out to feed, cuddle and put back down to give it another try. My husband is a bit better at it than I am. Sometimes I leave the room and brush my teeth etc and come back to find him nicely settled

Lilice · 17/10/2020 08:48

Same for me @Sara7455 if she doesnt go down the first time, ill let my husband handle it as he's better at it than me

Sara7455 · 17/10/2020 09:16

@Lilice glad it isn’t just me! I’m not sure what he does differently, it sounds exactly the same, but somehow I’ll return to a sleeping baby when I imagined it impossible minutes beforehand!

MooseWL · 17/10/2020 11:59

Morning. I decided to create a new group for anyone that wants in! I figured with the other one everyone else will have left the thread pretty early on so would be nice to have one for us. The link is below (let me know if it works!)
If you could post your mumsnet username I'll create a sticky post with who's who as we all will have real names 😂
