OK hopefully no-one else has started a new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I like all those names Awen, think that Daniel is my fave of the three though! I think if this LO is a boy it will be George! I love old-fashioned names! Any suggestions for old-fashioned girl's names more than welcome! I have a one syllable surname starting with B and already have a Harry and a Jake...

MamaMaiasaura · 01/10/2007 15:15

Beckle - if this one had been a girl she would have been Elizabeth Rose

mixedmama · 01/10/2007 15:18

I just always mention Ediz and how I had a dream about a little boy called Ediz and how Ediz and Sami (DS1) go really well together, but just kept saying we can keep looking and keep adding names to the list.

He liked Ilhan and i just said well we can just see on the day.... very blase about it all, just went with the flow and he just came around.

skidaddle · 01/10/2007 15:18

Oooh I love Jake becklespookle but DH hates it along with every other boy's name in existence except for bl**dy Killian! I've never met a little Jake who wasn't lovely or a grown-up Jake who wasn't sexy so I reckon that's pretty good-going...

Well done MM in convincing your DH in such a roundabout way!

skidaddle · 01/10/2007 15:20

Those are both gorgeous names MM and they already sound like brothers!

becklespookle · 01/10/2007 15:20

That's lovely Awen - unfortunately for me it is one of the names I can't get DH to agree to! He doesn't like the shortening to Liz... We are not going to give LO a middle name - neither DS has one (due to all the 'family' names being absoultely horrendous and inducing much mickey-taking in DH and his brother's school days) so it doesn't seem fair to give this LO one either. We quite like the name Hope but worry it will be too short with our surname, also quite like Mary but its one of those names that others pull faces at. (also not sure about calling a Christmas baby Mary - or Holly for that matter!)

MamaMaiasaura · 01/10/2007 15:21

skiddadle - could go for Jacob, then shorton to Jake as a child.

becklespookle · 01/10/2007 15:21

Thanks Skidaddle! My Jake is a real cutie (I know I am biased though ). Not sure about the name Killian, you don't seem so keen either. How about Jacob? You could then shorten it to Jake eventually - hehe!

becklespookle · 01/10/2007 15:22

snap Awen!

mixedmama · 01/10/2007 15:24

Beckle - Hope is lovely. We onlyhave a four letter surname and both our children will have four letters in their names.

Amani · 01/10/2007 15:25

Becklespookle - Even though I'll be choosing a Muslim name for my LO, I've always like the following English names (are they traditional enough??): Grace, Hannah, Paige, Megan, Amelia, Bethany, Aubry

mixedmama · 01/10/2007 15:28

I like Bethany can be Beth.

fifisworld · 01/10/2007 15:28

I cant believe how quickly time is going over, we are talking about names already.
Before we know it we'll be doing our birth announcements!!!!!!

We have decided on Ethan. We had it picked for ds but for some reason he didnt suit it so got something else, so i hope this one suits it or we'll be stuck.

Amani · 01/10/2007 15:33

We're still stuck on boys name, can't agree on one....

skidaddle · 01/10/2007 15:33

Thanks awen and beckle - no, he won't go for Jacob either - he is v. difficult!! He really wants an Irish name but there's none that i really like and everything I suggest (Noah, Oliver, Jake, Ivo, Zachary and a few more unusual ones)he grimaces at. I've told him I should get to choose after going through hours of agony to give him a son but he's not having any of it!

Amani - do you have any possible names? I love Muslim/Arabic-sounding names. I wanted to call this baby Zaki (think it means intelligent in Arabic?) but - yes you guessed it - DH was having none of it!

suey2 · 01/10/2007 15:36

neuro congrat on job.

beckle we have, for boy, william henry (dull as ditchwater, i know) For girls ella, kate, millicent (millie), alice, georgina and elizabeth.

had chat with pal- all sorted. Phew!! I will advertise and appoint someone now to start beginning of the year and she will wind down from Jan, cutting back her hours and do a prolonged handover to the new physio. Then I won't be paying 2 people to do one person's job. Still going to make it very tight, and I may have to borrow money to furnish the bank balance. Especially as, today, my canadian massage therapist has been told she cannot stay (she was duped by a renegade visa/ work permit service) and has to leave the country in 2 weeks!!
What the hell else!!!

mixedmama · 01/10/2007 15:38

mmmmm not sure what you can do about this one skidaddle he sounds very set on it.

I decided that i would go along with things unless i really hated the name as i wouldnt want to call my child that name if i really hated it for the rest of their lives, which is how DS became Sami as i could live with it, plus it had been bandied about for ages and when he was born he just was Sami.

mixedmama · 01/10/2007 15:39

Oh God Suey, it really is all happening isnt it. Glad it worked out with the first employee and sorry to hear yet another problem added.

skidaddle · 01/10/2007 15:43

Oh but Sami is gorgeous MM, but maybe you're right and I should just compromise as I do really love DD's name and I came up with it (although DH loves it too). I have started calling my bump Kilimanjaro to try and persuade myself round to the idea of Killian so I am trying! it's just the inclusion of 'kill' in a name, plus the fact that it rhymes with Gillian (nothing wrong with Gillian but I can just imagine them chanting it at him in the playground )

Am really hoping when we see him a new name will come to us that we both love and that will be it. But much more likely we'll still be arguing it about it 5 weeks after he's born and we're still calling him baby... ah well

mixedmama · 01/10/2007 15:44

I take it he didnt go for any of those Indian/Irish names we talked about before??

mixedmama · 01/10/2007 15:44

I take it he didnt go for any of those Indian/Irish names we talked about before??

skidaddle · 01/10/2007 15:44

oh dear suey2 - at least you got the first problem sorted though..

skidaddle · 01/10/2007 15:45

No, did suggest them but he wasn't keen

I'm making him sound like a right stubborn git which he really isn't but it's so hard to agree on something...

suey2 · 01/10/2007 15:49

skidadd, that is why we have ended up with dull boys names. Isn't Killian the first name of a gorgeous up and coming actor?
Trying to compile a list of questions for the night nanny we are interviewing this evening. Any suggestions gratefully received!

claraq · 01/10/2007 15:54

Skidaddle - thanks for the link to VBAC thread, will have a read once DD in bed and things a little calmer round here. btw my friends with an irish connection have Ciaran as their boy's name, which is nice. Another has John-Jo.....

Suey2 - we also have William (Thomas) as our first choice if a boy. It's my dad's name and is a good solid name with a few different shortening possibiltites.

For girls we are a bit stuck but current fave is Isobelle or Isobella....
