I'm just hoping to squeeze in before Xmas (due date 22 Dec).

Well good news and a silver lining to the hospital appointment thing I hope! Have decided to "work from home" all day on Monday as now a scan at 11.30am, an appointment with my dermatologist (not PG related) at 12.45, my DD's swimming lesson at 4pm and MW visit at 7pm. Figure all that will exhaust me so much its really not worth trying to sit at my office desk for the other 3 hours of theday that I could make it in for [whispers, have also arranged to meet a friend for lunch who lives near the ultrasound place]

And thanks for your kind words. Feeling a bit more comfortable today. Made a concerted effort to lie on my left side on the sofa all last evening and in bed and that seemed to do the trick to get her to shift back to a better position. Don't know why lying on the left side is particularly good but I remember the NCT AN class teacher making a bid deal out of it last time and it did seem to work...

Spring weather here very gloomy so far. Not helped by the gloomy expressions on most of my (male) colleagues faces following the All Blacks loss to France last weekend

insywinsyspider · 11/10/2007 08:39

morning and hello to new people

ds slept thro last night we could be getting back to normal at last! (it has actually only been since sat but it feels like a long time!)

someone said about sucking tummy in and concentrating on walking helped back ache - thats helped me too, I can make bump look smaller if I do that too

day with ds tomorrow - can't wait

fifisworld · 11/10/2007 09:02

Morning everyone

Well i was supposed to be at work today but ive rang them up and......Ive started my Maternity leave from TODAY!!!!
I feel so much happier now. I dont have to get up at 5.15 anymore, and spend almost 2 hours trailing to work.
My original leaving date was the 26th Oct so its not that much difference but it will make all the difference to me.
Now i can concentrate on getting everything done and spending time with ds.
Hope everyone else is ok

Amberooni · 11/10/2007 09:03

Hiya to new laydees . Had MW appt yesterday, she was pretty rough with the bump and was quite opinionated about the parentcraft classes (we're not really interested) but we opted for the hospital tour instead - might be handy in the throes of labour to know where the hell I'm supposed to be - Warrington Hospital is a bloody maze (aren't they all). After all the manhandling, MW confirmed baby is transverse... hoping she will shift round though.

Amberooni · 11/10/2007 09:05

fifisworld - I can't leave yet, my replacement is on bereavement at the mo, 3 weeks left tho. Feel sorry for those working right into Dec..

macdoodle · 11/10/2007 09:10

oh god I have 8 weeks left to go ..but have got a few days annual leave spotted about and few shorter days ...and I only work 21/2-3 days ....just soooooo tired at moment

Wizzska · 11/10/2007 09:35

Morning All,

First bad sleep in ages last night - kept having to shift positions.

Fifi - about your maternity leave. I've still got to work until 16th November. Have 4 days leave to take though so am taking some Fridays off.

Have my first NCT class tonight.

buzzybee · 11/10/2007 09:56

OMG must be something about hitting 30 weeks. I know exactly how you all feel.

I feel like I've hit a wall too big to climb over. How am I going to keep working for another 10 weeks!!!! Have decided tonight that I need to find something to hang on to - can probably manage to work from home one day per week so that'll have to do as a strategy for the moment. Only have about 4 days annual leave up my sleeve, but am permitted to take up to 10 days "special leave" which is a bit like advance maternity leave before you stop working completely. Its unpaid tho.

same here with sleep last night- but my own fault- had a double espresso after lunch yesterday and peanut didn't stop kicking until 3am!

Loucee · 11/10/2007 10:21

Morning everyone

Hi to the new ladies, hope to get to know you better.

Amani - I'm nervous about DD (20 months) going up/down stairs alone but the physio has told me to avoid lifting her as much as I can and carrying her on my hip is a no-no as it's making my hips out of line. So if I am to carry her she needs to sit above my bump with legs around me and the stairs - I keep taking her up there crawling above her and really stomping down with my hands on the next step - she seems to be following and not trying to walk upright like she was (I feel more comfortable about her crawling up them). Coming down DH has now taught her that sliding down on her belly is great fun so now I don't mind her coming down on her own.

Fifi- great that you were able to start mat leave immediately without giving notice.

insywinsyspider · 11/10/2007 10:35

fifi - thats great news about mat leave, v as I think we are date buddies (I'm due 18th Dec) and still got 7 wks to work (damn financial constraints and realised this week the mortgage is due for renewal in Dec, really bad timing!)

fifisworld · 11/10/2007 10:40

Yeah we are date buddies insy, although im going in for elective c/s hopefully round the 8th Dec

insywinsyspider · 11/10/2007 10:47

I missed that - why an elective? that must be exciting to know the date, I've still got my fingers crossed that baby shows up before xmas

fifisworld · 11/10/2007 10:58

I ended up with emergency c/s with ds as i wasnt dilating and he was distressed.
I know it might not happen again but id rather not chance it, plus i can arrange childcare etc for ds and dp can give a date at work for his paternity leave.
Plus id hate to be in hospital over xmas

insywinsyspider · 11/10/2007 11:07

sounds like you have all the same concerns as me in terms of timing so i completely understand wanting to have a date set - I've heard an elective is much better in terms of recovery as well
I'm going for a home birth to avoid hosp over xmas and childcare over night - ds was a week early and I know pgs aren't necessarily the same but I'm still hopefull!

Loucee · 11/10/2007 11:37

Insy/Fifi - I'm due 17th so right by you guys.

I hope not to be in hospital over Christmas as well - I asked the MW if I would be induced before Christmas but she said no, policy is induction at 12 days over due date so if baby is really late it might be nearing New Year!

ballymoney · 11/10/2007 11:53

Im 33weeks pregnant and i have no bump why is this?im not worried because i can feel my my baby move.

kerioke · 11/10/2007 12:00

hey all... my pc hasnt been working for over a week and it has killed me not being able to come on here!! on a positive note when i last spoke the pg was dragging and today i'm like 'wow i'm 31 weeks today!!'

saw MW last week who informed me baby was a 'very big boy' which has concerned her esp with my SPD, however she still thinks a natural delivery would be best... will have to wait and see on what cons says in 4 weeks.

have been getting period type cramps in the early hours this morning, which eased and have now moved towards my back, i have a feeling babies head may be engaging... i hope so as apparently it can really easy spd as head acts like a splint.

ive missed out on so much about you all! will try and catch up, but please dont see me as ignorant if i ask you to repeat things over and over!

Wizzska · 11/10/2007 12:03

Ballymoney . Mine is massive and very cumbersome.

suey2 · 11/10/2007 12:04

hey fifi i am glad you didn't feel too pressurised to go for VBAC.

Kerioke do be careful. SPD and big baby not a good combo. My colleague was on crutches for a year. I am sure your consultant will give you the right advice.

claraq · 11/10/2007 13:07

suey - at the moment my plan is to try for a VBAC but I really didn't feel pressured into it at all. It really has been left to me to make a choice - I think the medical staff have been very good about this. Not sure if others have had different experiences but if anything you are probably more likely to be pressured into another c-section.
I will see how it goes - if I end up with another section I won't be too suprised, or upset. It's been a difficult decision as I agree with all that fifi says, but as it was an elective not an emergency I had last time I don't have all the same reasons as her to have another.

fifisworld · 11/10/2007 13:11

SUEY- I did/have been thinking about a vbac, and i think at any other time of the year i possibly would have went for it, but i dont want to miss xmas with my ds as this year will be the first year he will know whats going on iykwim. I know thats not the best reason in the world for having a c-section but thats the way i feel.
Obviously there are the practical reasons as well.
Ive had a lovley morning, dp is off work today so i went for a lie down before and then had a lovely hot bath, which i never get to do normally as ds is always running round. I feel so much better now.
Ds is going out with his grandma soon for a couple of hours, i feel spoilt

suey2 · 11/10/2007 13:40

it was just that my SIL was really pressurised by her MW into VBAC and she felt awful when it didn't happen
