OK hopefully no-one else has started a new thread!

Indeed, jumping will not be feasible as I progress but even nearly at the middle point I do not have a big bump or have gained much weight so thought I'd try it until I have no alternative.

Really and truly I just need to settle down and adjust to my limitations until I can go crazy again next Spring / Summer . . . . Cheers claraq

becklespookle · 06/10/2007 16:17

JJ, didn't realise that was my first response to you! , have to confess I struggle to keep up with this thread, everyone is so chatty! Not sure about jumping, I would have thought the landing would be quite painful with SPD though? (I climbed over a gate a few weeks ago and landed on the foot on the side which hurts more - not nice...). Swimming is supposed to be good or anything where you keep your legs together really!.
Claraq, being at home with child/ren is definitely harder while pg than being at work! Esp if you have nursery/school runs etc to factor in along with playtime, P&T groups, lunch, toilet and everything else - you never get a minute to nap or rest unless LO does!

thelady · 06/10/2007 22:22

JJ: I'm feeling particularly dense, but when exactly are you due. Most of us on here are now at the 6 - 7+ month stage, as we're all due in December. You say you're half way...?

claraq · 07/10/2007 10:52

Thelady - thanks for asking JJ2ndtime that question, I was thinking exactly the same thing when she mentioned being nearly at the half way stage. Unless she is an elephant and has a longer gestation than us.....Am very confused!

Becklespookle - (btw are you going to be becklesparkle again for Nov 5th?) I agree about it being harder looking after children but now do feel a bit bad because there are people out there who do a taxing and tiring job (like teaching) and then have to come home and look after their LO's as well....Now that probably is hard....

Lizzer · 07/10/2007 11:59

Hey all, hope you're having a relaxing Sunday morning

Thanks for all your replies about leg cramps- beckle, yeah mine has onlyjust stoped hurting so much from thursday's attack. Found solution, though it is a really naughty one, had a MASSIVE Chinese takeaway on Friday night, haven't had a cramp since (can you imagine how much salt intake there is in one of them?!!) I will try the gin-less tonic or bitter lemon though louise76, sounds much more realistic...though i could prob eat a take away every night if i let myself..

awww beanster, poor, poor you but I PMSL @ "for nursery also read Government secret Biological warfare centre" so true, so true!!

the lady that's crap about AN classes - is it the dark ages?
I was wondering too whether any of you 2 or 3rd time rounders were going to go to yours? I felt instinctively not too but I did meet a good friend through them last time and we went through a lot with our babies together.. Also this is dp's first child and i wondered whether HE should go? Although I've given him enough details to curdle his stomach already...

As for winter coats I got a nice massive one from Matalan for £20!!!!! ITs wool mix and very 'this season' I couldn't believe the price!

Oh I'm naffed off, its dp's 30th tomorrow and his present hasn't arrived. It said allow up to 14 days for delivery and tomorrow has been 12., Grrrrrrr, how many times does it NOT matter but this time it really DOES

Lizzer · 07/10/2007 12:11

Hey JJ2ndtime, you said on a weight loss thread you were 20weeks pg so I guess you're due around Feb/March time? If you type in 'due in (your month) 08' into the search box you'll find a thread with your ante-natal 'time' buddies.Hope that helps and hope your Argos trip was a success

Thelady - has someone already mentioned NCB classes, they are very 'father' orientated and involved

tabimum · 07/10/2007 13:11

Sorry for not keeping in touch - been hectic at work (company got taken over) and no time to browse MN when I got home...feel so out of touch!

In answer to those looking for winter coats - I discovered the other day that Zara do a maternity range - and I bought a lovely swingy black coat from there. Doesnt look "maternity" so will do for the cold months after Dec too. Not as cheap as the Matalan bargain - but very lovely.

JJ2ndTime · 07/10/2007 13:41

Sorry for being in the wrong thread ladies . . .I'll run along and find the mums to be due in Feb 08. All the best to all of you with your births in December and thanks for advice given . . . .JJx

Caz10 · 07/10/2007 20:11

ooowwwwwwwwwwwww my bump hurts! anyone else feeling like a beach ball now? an over-inflated one?!!

Hope everyone is doing ok. 31 weeks and counting, where has the time gone?!

Glad it's not just me who hasn't bought anything! Trying to decide now between a bedside cot or a moses basket and cot bed...actually would LOVE one of these hammock things, they get rave reviews, but v pricey. But it would be worth it for sleep I guess!!

Our AN classes start next week, we get 4, 1 per week for 4 weeks, is that about the same as everyone else?

Housemum · 07/10/2007 20:17

Ooh - Zara - do you mind my asking how much? Haven't seen any maternity stuff in our local branch (though I love their kids' stuff - have been buying in France on hols for years and still have some gorgeous stuff from DD2, hope this one's a girl to use it all again!!)

Loucee · 07/10/2007 21:00

Insy - lumpy feet.... left =boy, right=girl!

Caz - it's so hard making decisions about cots/prams/slings/blankets etc and what I found was that when DD arrived some of the things I had didn't work for us and others that I didn't want originally did. I think when they are wee it's nice to have them in an enclosed area to sleep like a carrycot or moses basket etc as it is supposed to give them reassurance as they're used to being in tight spaces! in saying that though swaddling the baby will probably be enough and then again your baby might HATE to be swaddled! Go with what you can afford and what will last.

I'm a big bloater today, had the most fantastic meal last night for our wedding anniversary and then went out for lunch today! Just finishing the last of the chocolated DH bought me as well

Hope everyone had a good weekend,

Loucee · 07/10/2007 21:02

Tabimum - wow I had no idea Zara has a maternity range, I was in there today but didn't see it. I'll ring the two nearest me tomorrow to see if they stock the range, your coat sounds perfect

insywinsyspider · 07/10/2007 21:36

loucee - then I'm having a boy! will have to let you know if thats true, has it been right for those that know? glad you had a good weekend

Nbg · 07/10/2007 21:44

Evening ladies.
How are you all doing? Hope things are still ok.
I havent been able to get on much this week as have had a mumsnetter friend come and stop with me for the week.
Has been lovely though as shes helped out with alot of stuff so I've been able to take it easy

Nothing much to report other than I had my MW appt today and thankfully baby is head down
However the down side is that where we live they are majorly stretched for midwives and last week they actually closed 5 of the nearest labour wards because of the lack of staff and when I say nearest some of them are 30 miles away!!!!!
So when it comes to D day I think I'll be very very lucky to get a home birth. I'll just have to hope and pray that there are enough MW's around!

cazzybabs · 07/10/2007 21:46

Well dd2 is 3. How did that happen - I feel quite sad...my toddler is no more! Added some photos of her party on Facebook, but am quite disapointed with the ones I took! Must get better at photos... we had it a local soft play place. God it was money well spent - so little stress. I think she had a good time but didn't enjot being sung happy birthday to. Then the grandparents, a godfather and us went to the pub for lunch which was nice, but I have done no housework all w/e and so the house is a big mess! And am tired for work on Monday.

Nbg · 07/10/2007 21:51

Thats weird Cazzy, its my dd's 4th birthday tomorrow and we had a party for her yesterday.
We hired out a room at the local community centre and had a big bouncy castle.
Total mania as there were 17 3/4 year olds but good fun and they all enjoyed it

We're taking dd tobogganing tomorrow at the indoor snow slope so that should be fun

cazzybabs · 07/10/2007 22:35

Happy birthdya to your little dd NGB. Hope you enjoy the "snow" - am very jealous! I shall think of you tomorrow whilst I am at work - hope it doesn't bring the baby on! Did she enjoy her party? What kind of cake did you do - dh did a ladybird one for Grace. What present is she getting? Grace got a playtable for the playroom (as we needed one! qand we don't need more toys!)

Amani · 08/10/2007 08:23

Morning all and hope you all are well!!

Just skimmed read the posts since Friday - my my you have been busy!

Getting this really wierd pain down the right hand side of bump today - really hurts.

Can't remember if I've asked this before, but does anyone get kicks in one region??
Previously I was getting kicks quite strongly on the right hand side, and now am getting smaller kicks in the pelvic region.

Loucee · 08/10/2007 09:31

Morning

Amani - I was going to mention my right side of my bump is really tender today, when I twist it's especially sore (not enough for paracetomol or anything).

Insy - so far the foot thing has been right for everyone who knows the sex!
Got the P&T yesterday, really love it but wish the handle extended a little bit. Might try and find someone who's handy with those sorts of things to see if they can do a DIY extension as when I walk quickly my feet hit the brake bar.

I'm 30 wks today, wow that feels good. I remember last time when I got to single figures (for count down) it seemed to go more quickly. We've decided not to decorate a nursery this time round because we're trying to decide whether to go ahead with a tiny weeny utility room extension - if we do that it will free up the smallest bedroom which the baby can have when they are ready to move into it so it seems silly to decorate the spare large bedroom if the baby might end up in the small box room (and then have to re-decorate the spare room!).

How is everyone else feeling today?

I've been really slack in doing my pelvic floors recently so here's a reminder!

buzzybee · 08/10/2007 09:35

Amani - may mean your LO is now head down? I feel the same "smaller" movements in my pelvic region and put these down to lower intensity hand "punches" - while I'm pretty sure her feet are pushing up on my diaphragm as feels quite uncomfortable in that area.
Whoever said they feel like an over-inflated beachball, I know exactly what you mean. Feel like my skin is stretched tight as a drum, really quite uncomfortable.

Have just organised a meet-up here with a couple of local MNers - how exciting! One PG also due Dec but 2 weeks ahead of me.

OP posts:
claraq · 08/10/2007 09:36

Morning
Loucee - I am feeling absolutely crap today, completely knackered and sick again. Oh Joy. Only 7 weeks and 5 days until I get to my due date though....
Amani - I have been getting lots of kicks (punches, thumps or whatever) in the lower left hand side. Not sure what that means, but doctor seems to think baby is head down. I reckon it's lying across me. It was pummelling me so hard in the night I did start to wonder if there had ever been any instances of a baby rupturing the mother's stomach from within....

dundeemarmalade · 08/10/2007 09:36

morning all.
amani- over the weekend kicks switched from right to left hand side - never happened before- with occasional downward stamps - v uncomfortable.

bump generally uncomfy, although blooming marvellous two-ended bump pillow is truly marvellous. can't believe bump still has ten weeks of growing left to do.

don't know if it's hormones or just life-stress but feel really crappy today (again). have been drafted in to work 12 hours/week at family business (only bookshop so not exactly physical) cos SIL (manager) has bad SPD and can't work, but not worth getting temp in for five weeks until her maternity replacement starts. so i'm being her for a few hours a day, which would be fine but for the fact that the old ladies who work there a) hate SIL and don't like me very much, and b) think pg women should like down and rest. tbh i agree with them. was hysterical with exhaustion by yesterday evening and had only done some gentle decorating... sometimes i just don't know how everything is going to get done. dh is having to do two jobs too while SIL is laid up, so can't even pass the buck to him.

Sorry for rant. Think it must be tiredness. I think i'd give up altogether if not for mnet!

Amani · 08/10/2007 10:10

Loucee - you might be right - I was tossing and turning loads last night (thansk to DH snoring, which he is denying by the way - so thinking of recording him just to prove him wrong!!), so that could be the reason for pain.

Was feeling a little worried about changes to baby movement, but feeling a little reassured now. Cheers ladies!

Amani · 08/10/2007 10:10

dudeemarmalade

insywinsyspider · 08/10/2007 10:12

loucee - then it could def be a boy - very exciting, I'd love to have two boys and a girl - obviously if this is a boy the pressure is on for number 3
I have monkey arms so not had the same problem with P&T but glad you like it apart from that, friend locked her self out of house on Thurs so I went to get her and dd and trialed the extra toddler seat - they both loved it, we took them to the park and they spent most of the time climbing in and out of the bottom seat

I'm also feeling crap today - up till now I've been doing fine but cramp set in about 5.30am and I've a sore throat, ds has a horrible cold and not slept well past 2 nights, he doesn't want anything he just feels rubbish and it wakes him up - we ran out of calpol and medised on sat night so I went and bought most of the pharmacy counter on sunday - I have enough to give him an overdose and they didn't bat an eyelid yet if I wanted 10 packets of paracetamol they'd refuse!

baby is head down now and getting little movements in pelvis and big kicks in diaphram too

on plus side my childminder popped over yesterday and said she has a waiting list for spaces but we have first pick booked ds in for 2 days a week next year and then both are down for Jan 09 for 3 days a week if I decide to go back to work, feel really pleased to have that sorted childcare arrangements were such a stress last mat leave, I can get on with enjoying year now rather than fitting in nursery visits and interviewing childminders

also bought a sling - went for this one baba sling as dh said he'd like to use it (which would save my back!) but wouldn't if it was too 'hippy' which by his definition was most of the ones I was looking at! got it off ebay so figured I could resell it and try another if didn't get on with it
