@Laura1348 hadn't even thought of the corona year with a high birth rate! I used to be a teacher as well.

@ChipsAreLife yes I want a VBAC, my last birth unfortunately was quite traumatic ending with a cat 1 EMCS and I'm just terrified of the same thing happening again. I had been doing the positive birth company digital pack but have fallen behind, think I need to get back on that and try and focus on positivity for a while! I was so naive when pregnant with my son, didn't really think about labour at all or stress about it so this is all new to me.

Roxy8203 · 12/07/2020 09:06

@Lazydaisydaydream I have the same due date as you and we have spoken about the same thing. I really don't want him to come early and be the youngest in the year. I was a june baby and realise I struggled with some aspects of school because of this. I'm hoping he comes closer to my last missed period date which would make him due the 7th. I've not had any complication or reasons to have him induced early so it's up to nature.

MooseWL · 12/07/2020 09:08

@emmy2020 are our partners the same 😂 mine is the least practical person ever so I got my dad to help paint the nursery and I'm stressing now that the furniture will be delayed even more. Mine was also back playing cricket yesterday (🙄 why is it alllll day. Tbh i was glad to have him out of the house!) I think at this point all the things around the house I've ignored for years are now annoying me and I suddenly want them all done before the baby! I think it's good to stay busy though.

@lazydaisydream I think like the others have said it's normal to worry about things, but like you said even if your baby is born in August you'd have a choice to go a year below (and it's nothing to do with your parents/in laws do what you want for your child). X

ShiningStarz · 12/07/2020 09:58

@Lazydaisydaydream not silly at all!! We have also talked about the school thing!! I'm due 9th although scans measuring me 12th. With this GD if I get put on insulin then it's looking like I won't get past 38 weeks which puts me in August! But I'v stopped worrying as all that's important is a healthy and safely delivered baby. There's lots of tutoring out there and other ways of learning to support kids these days. I was a march born and was nearly held back a year at primary school!! I was premature tho but not sure how much the time of year really matters xx

Re sleeping i get sore if I sleep on either side too long and the hip pain / calf cramps are real 🤣 it's all worth it tho when I feel little one partying in there 😊

My DP complains about the painting but is doing it!! Thankfully as I couldn't manage it myself!! So impressed at you @Emmy2020 but do take it easy 💜

Any of you experienced mums do tummy time as you brought your little ones home? I'v been reading up on how it's recommended for v short bursts as soon as they are home to help strengthen muscles. I'v got a play mat but I'v seen stand up mirrors that are pretty cheap that are supposed to really intrigue them from v young.

Lazydaisydaydream · 12/07/2020 10:08

@ShiningStarz any time not on their back counts as tummy time, we did lots of sling time and had him lie on his belly on our fronts. He didn't like being on the floor on his tummy until he was a bit older, but then we had mirrors and things that attached to his baby gym so he could look at that.

Lazydaisydaydream · 12/07/2020 10:09

Thanks everyone... I feel better just for having acknowledged how much it is bothering me haha. Feeling a lot better and more positive. Flowers

ShiningStarz · 12/07/2020 10:15

Thanks @Lazydaisydaydream I forgot to say that I'd read that having them on your chest with your face to look at is best !! Hurry up July and Aug !!!

Lilice · 12/07/2020 10:32

@Lazydaisydaydream sorry if this is a silly question but why would they do sweeps at 39 weeks if you go for a vbac? Would they let you go over 40 weeks ? Im going for a vbac too 😉 i understand your worries. My son was born in October and im very grateful because he's so behind (he had hearing problems which caused speech issues) i would have had to postpone his entry to primary school had he been born before September. However my daughter is also an October baby and she would have been definitely ready to start school earlier but had to go an extra year to preschool. I think it really depends on the individual like @ChipsAreLife says. The good thing about a baby born in August is that you save a year on childcare costs (sorry if it sounds vain)
@ShiningStarz babies can do tummy time on your chest at the beginning. Then when they're stronger, they can do a bit on the mat on the floor. My daughter hated it so didn't really bother with her.
I had my 4d scan yesterday and although I didn't see the gender, I now think I'm having a boy by seeing the baby's face. Looks like his brother.

Emmy2020 · 12/07/2020 11:33

@MooseWL So glad to find someone who knows what it’s like to have a husband that plays cricket 😂 So annoying that it’s all day!!
Yeah I’ve had YEARS to do all these painting jobs etc but some reason I’ve got adamant it needs to be done NOW and I’m getting myself so stressed about it and don’t know why, think it’s probably being pregnant and getting all emotional/stressed over nothing!

Lazydaisydaydream · 12/07/2020 12:27

@Lilice so they said normally they wouldn't offer any sweeps etc until 40 weeks, but as I have low PAPP-A they wanted me to have an elective c section at 39 weeks. I have said no to that (I am literally just under the threshold for PAPP-A levels and all growth scans have been fine so far). My compromise with the consultant was that I would consider a c section at 40+2 weeks instead, and he said they could do sweeps etc from 39 weeks to give me a better chance of naturally delivering. I'm still not convinced I'd accept a c section at just after 40 weeks unless there is an actual medical need, but hospital policy is not to offer any induction for a vbac so this is my compromise for now.

Hello all.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a tens machine?
Thanks
Laura

Lilice · 12/07/2020 17:57

@Lazydaisydaydream oh I see. In any case it looks like you're in good hands and your consultant is looking well after you.
@Laura1348 I rented one from tesco with my first baby. Cannot remember the model though

Laura1348 · 12/07/2020 18:03

@Lilice
Thanks. In current climate I'm just gonna nite the bullet and buy but they all sound the same but so bloody different! Who knew having a baby would be this hard 🤰🤷‍♀️🤔😂

ShiningStarz · 12/07/2020 20:48

Has anyone found a reasonably priced and not too big a rocking chair? Our nursery is not big and I'm looking for something small that could be used to feeds / cuddles etc

Bubble29 · 12/07/2020 20:53

@Lazydaisydaydream just catching to! I totally hear you!
We are having twins and at the last scan they showed as breech but wanted to secure a date for a C section delivery just in case. Our consultant suggested 37 weeks which would be the 30th Aug, I pushed back and asked for 37+3 which would be 2nd Sep! Of course they can come before that but both my husband and I work in education, and while we would save a fortune in nursery fees, I'd prefer them to be the eldest in the year.

Another way of looking at it, if your baby was born on the 1st Sep and given the choice, I doubt many parents would opt to send their kid to school a year early. 🤷🏽‍♀️

BUT my husband who is SLT at a primary school has said, as long as children get support at home, it evens out and by the end of reception summer babies have caught up.

Emmy2020 · 13/07/2020 05:48

Wondering what’s best to get, a rocker, bouncer or swing? What has everyone else got?😊

ShiningStarz · 13/07/2020 06:50

Morning @Emmy2020 you are up early too 🙈 I had to get up to make tea and toast!! Absolutely starving from 4am these days!!!!

I'v been eyeing up the joie sansa. It's flipping £150 though so haven't made that purchase yet!!! Gutted as they only use it for 6 months. Also looked at nuna grow and there's couple others similar that do toddlers up to age 3/4 as they turn into a seat... stupid price tag again tho!! Also seen the ones that click into High chair! Would like to hear what everyone else has gone for too xx

ShiningStarz · 13/07/2020 06:54

Thanks @Lilice yummy time on my sounds like the best thing!!!
Anyone feel like they are pregnant but can't quite believe there is going to be a baby?!! I know it sounds stupid but it's taken me years to get pregnant, actually gave up and was ok with not being able too... until bang!! So I was standing in the nursery yesterday, partner was painting and it stoop felt very weird. Just can't wait to meet this little wriggly little person now!! @Lilice I got a 4d scan pic of face too and it's so hard to tell :)

Lazydaisydaydream · 13/07/2020 07:56

@Bubble29 ha I'd have done the same with that c section date! I had a big heart to heart with my husband yesterday and feeling much better, I think some of the pressure was unintentionally coming from him as he had made jokes about having to cross my legs if went into labour in August Hmm but he says he honestly doesn't care and would rather I focused on being able to have a natural delivery if that's what I want (he wants me to have a c section but that's another story!).

@Emmy2020 we have bought a joie serina 2 in 1, so it's a swing which can go either forwards or side to side and then it has a removable rocker seat which vibrates. We got it second hand from a friend of a friend as didn't want to spend all that money new and have the baby hate it! It looks great though. With my son we had a baby Bjorn rocker which he did like but not until he was a bit older and I would have to rock it with my foot the entire time which was annoying. It folded completely flat though so I could store it under the sofa which was a big plus!!

Laura1348 · 13/07/2020 07:59

@ShiningStarz
I feel exactly the same. Been trying for 10yrs+ and now nearly 40! So much time on our own and now (like you) bang here we are 6weeks ish to go and he'll be here.
Think it's normal.

ShiningStarz · 13/07/2020 08:01

I'm with ya @Laura1348 almost 39 here!!💜

HugeAgeGap · 13/07/2020 08:37

@Lazydaisydaydream I was born end of June and my sister on the 31 August!! I can honestly say it made no difference to either of us! I think where it does it's just coincidence and I think all children can develop different aspects at different times and it's easy to blame that on where they were born in the year rather than actually acknowledging there's probably a need for a bit more development/help in certain areas. I really wouldn't let it bother you at all. The only thing my sister found was she was singled out in year 7 assembly as being the youngest in the school in front of everyone but that was about it! She's just finished Uni with a top notch psychology degree :)

Lazydaisydaydream · 13/07/2020 09:14

@HugeAgeGap I think the problem is as I have an August birthday myself and have always felt it made a difference (not academically but emotionally/maturity etc) it's hard to remember my baby not might have the same feelings I did, if that makes sense?
