External not eternal!

Hopefulmummie · 06/06/2020 14:21

@aimy1 I really don't know why they didn't I was expecting them to but she didn't mention doing it :(
She said my dates could be wrong and cause I'm only 6 weeks today it would be too early to see anything

Fluffkins14 · 06/06/2020 14:27

@Hopefulmummie that is really strange that they did an external ultrasound they won't pick anything up till around 9/10weeks when I was pg when DD 1 I had HG so needed a scan as I had no clue how far I was they tried external but warned me if I was under 9 or 10 i wouldn't see anything and would need internal, seen nothing then internal showed a heartbeat xx

MoonW · 06/06/2020 14:35

@Hopefulmummie I’m sorry you didn’t get the answers or reassurance at your scan today. I’m confused as to why they didn’t do an internal scan in the first place though? This was a private scan that you paid for wasn’t it? Could you speak to them about your experience and about having an internal soon? xx

Hopefulmummie · 06/06/2020 14:52

@fluffkins14
@moonw

I'm really not sure why they didn't do an internal scan. Looking back on it now I should've said to them about doing an internal scan there and then. Suppose I was just confused or nervous about saying anything.

Do you think I should contact them?

Hopefulmummie · 06/06/2020 15:08

already had an 8 week scan booked with window to the womb on my 8 week date but the scan I was at today have rebooked me in for the same day (it's a different scan clinic) so I'm going to see if I can change my window to the womb on to next week and I'll be 7 weeks so I don't have to wait another 2 weeks

Skyla01 · 06/06/2020 19:07

@Hopefulmummie sorry you didn't get any reassurance. Maybe the particular private clinic only do external scanning? I hope you aren't having to pay again... I do worry about anxious mum's to be getting ripped off by private clinics.

Hopefulmummie · 06/06/2020 19:12

@skyla01 they do internal too as they said they would do an internal scan next time if they can't see anything again

No they offer complimentary rescan which is the only good thing

Skyla01 · 06/06/2020 19:33

@Hopefulmummie ah ok, that's sound good. Hopefully next time you go it will be better.

How is everybody else? I'm struggling a bit with tiredness & lack of appetite. I know I probably have a good few weeks of this to go but can't wait to feel normal again!

Hopefulmummie · 06/06/2020 19:42

@skyla01 tiredness is hitting me too. I'm constantly going for mid day naps which I never do.

Are you feeling nauseous?

MoonW · 06/06/2020 20:10

@Hopefulmummie I’m glad they’re not charging you for the rescan. Did you manage to move the W2W appt to next week? Hopefully the next scan is better for you lovely!

@Skyla01 I’m also struggling with tiredness, fell asleep on the sofa for an hour this afternoon and felt like I could have gone to bed for the night! Also not got much of an appetite either which isn’t ideal.

Hopefulmummie · 06/06/2020 20:15

@moonw yeah got the last appointment next Sunday :) they said they scan internally before 10 weeks so hopefully I'll.come away happier

Fluffkins14 · 06/06/2020 21:30

@Hopefulmummie I'm so glad you have another scan that will be done internally, really has thrown me why they did externally, what day do you have your next scan xx

Hopefulmummie · 06/06/2020 21:45

@fluffkins14 I know the more I think about it the more annoyed I get lol just wish I had the sense to say to them there and then.

It's on Sunday

sachaf08 · 06/06/2020 22:03

@Hopefulmummie that is so weird that they didn't offer an internal scan, the only thought I have is maybe they were worried it would be too early to see anything with either scan and didn't want to stress you out? I went to window to the womb and they would only scan if you were 7 weeks plus, although that rule seems to vary a lot!

Hopefulmummie · 06/06/2020 23:17

@sachaf08 possibly yeah but if they offer scans from 6 weeks surely there is a reason they do and should scan internally

sachaf08 · 06/06/2020 23:31

@Hopefulmummie yes definitely, it's really odd. You'd think they would have explained as well if that were the case

Hopefulmummie · 07/06/2020 09:37

Morning everyone. How are you today?

I contacted the scan clinic I was in yesterday to ask what their normal procedure would he for early scans. She explained if they couldn't see anything abdominally they would scan internally. So I explained what happened me so just waiting to hear back

Fluffkins14 · 07/06/2020 10:00

@Hopefulmummie we've all been there couldn't or didn't know what to say in the moment, it's horrible waiting for your scan.

I hope the scan clinic you was at yesterday gets back to you soon x

Hopefulmummie · 07/06/2020 10:02

They said this..

'the Sonographer looks at what can be seen abdominally and makes the decision whether an internal scan would show much more. In the very early stages like this the Sonographer would only put you through an internal scan if she thought it would show baby. I can see from your report that there were no signs of pregnancy in the scan which is why she has decided to bring you back in 2 weeks. She has also advised a repeat pregnancy test in the meantime. I hope this helps, if you need anything further please let me know'

Skyla01 · 07/06/2020 11:38

@Hopefulmummie try not to worry too much- in the early days baby is so small & hard to see. I hope that your next scan is much better.

@MoonW I normally love food so I'm kinda dreaming of when I can next enjoy a big slap up meal! I don't feel like eating just now and when I do I don't enjoy it much. I've been spending 12hr in bed each night plus an afternoon nap!! I'm meant to get up at 8am for work tomorrow and dreading it. Wondering whether I should just turn up late- worried if I get up at 8am I'll feel so awful I'll need to call in sick anyway. These symptoms are crazy, like the opposite of my normal life!

sachaf08 · 07/06/2020 11:40

@Hopefulmummie it's weird that they say 'put you through a scan' like it's an ordeal. Mine was quite painful but only when they were checking my ovaries, not when they were looking at baby. Perhaps they meant they didn't want to put you through the stress, although tbh you could argue the stress of waiting another week is just as bad. When did you last take a test?

Hopefulmummie · 07/06/2020 11:45

@sachaf08 I took a test on Thursday and it was positive so I will take another one mid week

@skyla01 I hope so too

sachaf08 · 07/06/2020 14:48

@Hopefulmummie that's reassuring that you've had a positive test so recently. Fingers crossed everything is fine until the next scan which will hopefully put your mind at rest 🀞

BabyDust13 · 07/06/2020 15:57

Hey ladies

So I don't really know who else to talk to so I'll just see what you think - it was our 9th month of trying when I finally got pregnant and I am super happy but lately I've been feeling so down.

I think it's a mixture of having a bad water infection painful cramps and back ache and not going out much but I just really don't feel myself and I'm struggling to lift myself up

It sounds so awful when I know I should be super excited I just don't know how to explain it

I don't really know what I expect you to say just needed to vent 😊
