Thank you ladies! I'm just waiting for DAU to ring me back. I feel a bit embarrassed as I'm sure it's nothing... but saying that my bladder is pretty solid and it's not happened before... they said they may take a swab. I've just eaten 2 chocolate bars so I better try and dilute that with some water if they are going to take water samples 🤦🏼‍♀️

sao81 · 11/05/2020 10:56

@helpasisterout people are messaging me daily even though I have a date booked in, I'm debating turning my phone off it's really bugging me!
@Rebecca612 congratulations! Happy to hear you had a good experience given the circumstances xx
@november90 good luck with your phone call/swab!

I've also been cleaning, feeling like im ready now that the house is all sorted! Going to have another repack of our hospital bags just to triple check everything is ready for Wednesday. I can't believe he will be here this week! Have a scan tomorrow just to double check he hasn't moved again, but my pelvic pain has been worse so guessing that's his head engaging more

I've just been to day assessment and my waters haven't broken and the baby's head isn't even engaged. I'm gutted. I feel like I'm going to go well over now as today is my due date!
She said she felt she could see a lot of mucus which will likely be part of the plug coming away so the wetness probably relates to that :(
Feeling.... urgh!!!!

Clairesoph · 11/05/2020 11:21

@Rebecca612 congratulations, what a lovely birth story and so glad to hear your experience was positive in this weird time! Enjoy it all xxx

@november90 aw girl, I'm feeling for ya! Babies are so annoying in the final weeks of pregnancy, like come on hun you've had 9 months in there just leave already!!!!! Hopefully soon! Have a curry, eat a pineapple, long walk, ball bouncing - you've got this!!!!

Raindancer411 · 11/05/2020 11:39

I had spicy enchiladas last night and was on the ball for a while but nothing 😂 Not that I am eager to go into labour. I am in the Nile about it all 😆

november90 · 11/05/2020 11:41

I'm just nipping to Sainsbury's now to pick up a parcel and my mum told me to buy a Curry 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm not one for spicy food but I will try anything.
I actually read that it's the pinapple core that is supposed to help as opposed to the pinapple it's self so I might hug a whole one 😬
I just feel like I'll go totally over and have to have a cut again or section and a horrible recovery because he's measuring so big! Why do they not seem to be bothered about baby's being large?! It really annoys me! Sorry to rant :(

facevalue · 11/05/2020 11:57

@Naughtysausage @november90 @GinUnicorn @Bumpingalong84 I just woke up 🤧 I needed these few hours. the house is empty - they all went to the park for a walk. I really needed this sleep. i can't believe it's happening tomorrow but i'll man up x thank you all for your support and positive words

facevalue · 11/05/2020 11:59

@Rebecca612 congratulations - so happy for you and glad it all went well x

@november90 don't feel silly it's always best to get checked- they should have sweeped you while u were there 😘

woollycat · 11/05/2020 12:05

@facevalue glad you had much needed rest. Take more rest today and all the best for tomorrow, I will be thinking of you.

Saoirse7 · 11/05/2020 15:23

Anyone doing hypnobirthing?

Emmacb82 · 11/05/2020 15:23

@Rebecca612 congratulations! Enjoy every minute. Come on more May babies!

Can’t believe my little man is 11 days old today 🥰 he’s such an angel in the daytime but a milk monster at night! It’s certainly a challenge going from 1 to 2 but amazing at the same time

woollycat · 11/05/2020 15:34

@Saoirse7 yes! Hoping for a straightforward birth centre birth with lots of hypnobirthing. You are doing it too? When are you due? Is this your first? I am really enjoying it and it has helped me get excited about birth!

woollycat · 11/05/2020 15:35

@Emmacb82 amazing! How are you getting on with feeding? Are you breastfeeding?

Raindancer411 · 11/05/2020 16:06

I wanted to try the hypnobirthing but I couldn't take the tracks seriously. Also other half didn't help but keep taking the mick out of them 🙄

CharlieB93 · 11/05/2020 16:44

I’ve done the positive birth company hypnobirthing course, I got it for half price. It was worth it to learn all about the science stuff behind birth - deffo makes you appreciate your body more!
Not sure I buy into the actual hynobirthing though... I don’t like the idea that ‘birth shouldn’t be painful’ and as long as you breathe it shouldn’t hurt... my other half is quite naive so I’m really hoping he’s not going to start saying ‘just breathe then it won’t hurt!’ 😂

AlmostAlwyn · 11/05/2020 16:50

@Saoirse7 @Raindancer411 I did the Positive Birth Company's digital pack and found it really helpful, though the main thing was the breathing! It really helped in labour. I also downloaded their Freya app and the visualisation was good for the breathing too (just an expanding and contracting circle in time to the breathing). I didn't particularly get on with the positive affirmations, though I did listen to them a few times (not in labour though). My husband never got round to watching any of the videos so I didn't get any soft touch massage or anything Grin But my labour was so short in the end that there wasn't time for anything except the breathing!

So I'd recommend watching the free videos on YouTube and getting the app Grin

My little one is 15 days old now and all is going well! Perhaps a bit of a lazy latch, which is annoying at night as she's finding it tricky to latch properly lying down. Hopefully as she gets bigger it'll improve! Her big brother is still keen to stroke her and hold her. It's so sweet! Halo

woollycat · 11/05/2020 16:55

I am also not into the positive affirmations. I loved the science bit and felt like I now know what's to come. I love the up breathing and do it whenever I want to relax. And my husband is doing the massage every few days which is lovely. I am also hoping to use the suggestions on transforming the room into a calm space with candles, relaxing music, low lights, nice smells, etc.

Rinoa · 11/05/2020 16:55

Does anyone know of any good Christian birthing videos or affirmations? I know there's nothing google can't find but just wondered if anyone has come across something especially beneficial?

Saoirse7 · 11/05/2020 17:26

WoolyCat, I started it just a few weeks ago! I think the affirmations and that are a bit wishy washy but I think the idea of staying calm and regulating breathing. The discouragement of sweeps or induction makes me a bit 😬. I'm due May 27th so a bit to go yet! How have you found it?

Saoirse7 · 11/05/2020 17:33

@CharlieB93, I know what you mean! Some parts are a bit Hmm I suppose I don't feel scared about the birth but I am aware there is going to be pain if you know what I mean. Education wise it is much better than anything on the NHS antenatal course, the science bit is fascinating.

@Raindancer411 I completely get it. My husband cringes a bit as it's not anything we have normally ever done.

@AlmostAlywn that's really useful to know, I must download the app, thanks!!

Sorry Riona I can't help you!

Emmacb82 · 11/05/2020 17:40

@woollycat yes we are breastfeeding. It’s been a hard slog as we weren’t encouraged to whilst in hospital as he needed phototherapy and they wanted to flush the jaundice away so had to give him formula. But I hand expressed regularly to keep my supply going until we got home and then by some miracle managed to establish feeding at home. He’s almost back to birth weight at 10 days so going well so far. Just tiring at night as he wants feeding every couple of hours. He’s so worth it though x

CharlieB93 · 11/05/2020 17:51

Yes @Saoirse7 ! I feel like she shouldn’t discourage induction or sweeps as technically she’s not medically trained (as fair as I’m aware). I like the empowerment of its my body, I say what happens etc as normally I’m quite shy and find it hard to be assertive.
The main positive things I’ve taken from it are - the science stuff, staying calm (as adrenaline will hinder labour), breathing techniques, oh and also birth positions! (I thought you HAD to give birth lay down 😂 I have bloody one born every minute to thank for that...). It also made me quite excited to be honest.

AlmostAlwyn · 11/05/2020 18:25

I think rather than discouraging induction and sweeps, she really wants you to think about why they're offering it and to make up your own mind about whether it's the best way forward for you. Some people seem to be offered induction for almost no real reason at all, and from what I read sweeps are pretty hit and miss! But definitely best to inform yourself and prepare to be your own advocate. It can be really difficult to go against what doctors say, so information is power!

Saoirse7 · 11/05/2020 19:00

I suppose they are trying to promote little intervention which I understand.

I'm hoping for a water-birth, not something I thought about before but I think I like the idea of it now!

woollycat · 11/05/2020 20:16

@Saoirse7 same here. Hoping they'll have a room with a pool available on the day!

@Emmacb82 well done you! That's a really encouraging story - thanks for sharing. I really want to breastfeed and I sometimes worry that if it doesn't work out immediately during the first skin to skin time then it's over. Your story gave me a lot of reassurance. So glad you are finding it all rewarding even through the tough nights! It should get easier over time 🥰
