Sweetheart to follow on from the room temp advice...just take a bottle of water and the powder separately then mix when needed - that way it will last much longer than 4 hours - cooled boiled water will last for 24 hours in a sterilised bottle. Ooh and avent do plastic containers that you can sterilise and measure out milk into three sections, and then you can just use each section when needed.

sweetheart · 03/11/2004 15:38

TB (((((hugs))))

It's crap isn't it - still just think what you'll get at the end of all this - it WILL seem worthwile - soon, I promise!!!! Says the woman who hasn't had any really bad m/s yet!!!!!

I've just eaten my way through a whole bag of carrott battens - and I'm still hungry!!!!

sweetheart · 03/11/2004 15:39

teabelly - good thinking batman!!!!

I was thinking of cows milk - I didn't use this theory until dd was on cows milk and you have to be careful about it going off!!!!!

Your idea sounds even better!!!

teabelly · 03/11/2004 15:46

...carrot batons - that was healthy of you...I've just muched a bag of yoghurt bananas - which wouldn't be so bad except that we had a client lunch during which I hoovered copious amounts of chips up . Oh well I won't think of how many points I've just had!!

MrsWednesday · 03/11/2004 15:55

Sweetheart, that's what I did when DS went on to formula - sterilised all the bottles, filled them with boiling water then put them in the cupboard and added formula as and when required. I was never sure if it was 'safe' but my DS was never ill! I never gave him the option of warm bottles, they were always room temperature.

Just been out for lunch with my DH, who had the day off today. He told me that at the moment he's scared of me!!! He just never knows when I'm going to have an hormonal melt-down. I think it's really funny - good to see I'm keeping him on his toes!!

Tessiebear, have you got any of those preggy pops Katzguk mentioned? Hugs to everyone who is feeling so sicky.

LipstickMum · 03/11/2004 15:56

Sweetheart I'm not surprised your still hungry, carrot batons wouldn't fill me up either!!!!

LipstickMum · 03/11/2004 16:13

By the way Tessie, I know what you mean about having an upset tummy. I have been having that too, on top of the sickness, just general grumblings for the last week and a half. Odd.

Nails also growing LOADS!

Uwila · 03/11/2004 16:15

Also, you can just keep the little SMA cartons by your bed, and fill the sterilised bottle when little darling lets out the scream of starvation in the midle of the night. Just cut the box open and pour. Then you don't even have to sterilise that little 3 serving container.

Am I woman of convenience or what? I believe in minimal effort.

LipstickMum · 03/11/2004 16:18

lol Uwila

sweetheart · 03/11/2004 16:29

I didn't just eat carrots - I had a tuna sandwich as well.

I nearly ditched the ww thing this morning - I was feeling poo and just wanted to eat my way through it - went to the local supermarket at lunch time and stocked up on lots of low point crisps and all kinds of fruit - I will be health - god damn it!!!!!!

Wow, you lot are pro's!!! Love the SMA cartons idea - any other tips ladies????

sweetheart · 03/11/2004 16:30

MrsW - Not sure leaving cows milk out is "safe" either - definalty not recommended by professional types - but each to their own - my dd was never sick either!!!!

teabelly · 03/11/2004 16:54

Uwila - like the even more minimal idea than mine...will remember that

well 10 mins to go and then I'm off home for the week - yippee!!! Don't talk too much...always takes me ages to catch up on mondays!! and ds never lets me near the computer at home...he always has to have control of the mouse and has major tantrums when he can't (and he never sleeps when I have him, just when his nanna does ) which makes it so much hassle that I don't bother.

Hope most of the m/s and nausea has passed by the time I log on again. Take care and I'll catch up next week.

sweetheart · 03/11/2004 16:59

see you next week teabelly - I'm off till Fri now as well - take care everyone.

Tessiebear · 03/11/2004 17:14

Bye Sweetheart & Teabelly
Mrs Wed - no i havnt got any of those preggie pops - yet. I will see how it goes! I got to 4pm and my sickness seems to have gone for the day (fingers crossed) If i know that each day i will have a few hours relief it makes it more tolerable! How are you feeling - do you get it ALL day?

MrsWednesday · 03/11/2004 17:40

Bye everyone! Have a lovely evening/couple of days/weekend!

Tessiebear, I've been very lucky so far. Have just felt queasy, like low level travel sickness but nothing worse than that. I'm hoping that isn't a bad sign. Definitely suffering from wind though!

I hope the sickness stays away so you can eat your tea. It must be so hard, food is the only pleasure we have left now we can't have a glass of wine to cheer ourselves up - to have that taken away by sickness must be a nightmare.

Tessiebear · 03/11/2004 18:11

Feeling really worried. Had my hair highlighted yesterday - told the hairdresser i was pg - she said it would be ok. Just read one of those - "whats happening in week 6 of your pregnancy" and it said this is a crucial stage of organ devt and to avoid the following ... blah, blah, Hair bleaching or perming (!) am now worried

LipstickMum · 03/11/2004 19:52

I did the same Tessiebear, just a couple of days ago. I wasn't worried. Sort of am now, although I have very short hair.

JennyWren · 03/11/2004 20:30

Hi everyone. I've totally gone off chocolate! I can't believe it - me, not wanting chocolate? I would never have believed it. I've been feeling pretty grim and really only been fancying savoury stuff, but we were given a gorgeous box of Belgian chocs and my dh had a couple after dinner, so I thought I'd have one too - never being one to let chocolate pass me by... but it was just too sickly, the texture of it melting in my mouth was horrible. I don't even fancy a cup of hot chocolate, which is the only hot drink I normally have. I hope this doesn't last!!!

JennyWren · 03/11/2004 21:18

Don't I sound horribly self absorbed! Sorry - I don't mean to be. It could be a lot worse - at least I'm not actually being sick all the time, like other people are. I can think of other things, honestly!

MrsWednesday · 03/11/2004 21:30

Send the chocolate to me Jennywren, I haven't gone off it! You don't sound self-absorbed at all by the way!

Tessiebear, I think highlights are ok in pregnancy - the foil wrap things only touch your hair and not your scalp. Will try and find where I read it and post what it actually said, but try not to worry (listen to me, the worst worrier in town!).

welshmum · 04/11/2004 09:24

Goodness, I can't believe how much activity there's been on here in the day I've been off work!
I was just going to ask how everyone was feeling?
I'm nearly 10 weeks now and I think the weird sickness/I must eat now phase is starting to pass (might be faous last words) but I definitely feel less strange.....then I started to worry that maybe something was wrong with the pg....you know how it is!I'm going to be so anxious in weeks 11/12 - that's when my m/c happened.

Tessiebear · 04/11/2004 09:49

Thanks Lipstick and Mrs Wed - feel a bit better now. Mrs W - it was the foil wrap ones i had and i am sure i have heard that as long as the bleach/colour doesnt get put on your scalp you are ok. After close inspection she definately didnt do mine too close to the root! Lipstick - dont know about you but i wanted to get mine done now as i thought i feel so lousy that i dont want to look REALLY lousy too!!! Sure i had it done at about the same time with DS2 as well - and he is perfectly formed (and in those days there was no foils - just the rubber cap!)

Tessiebear · 04/11/2004 09:52

JennyWren - we are ALLOWED to be self absorbed on here - just not allowed such luxuries at home with DS's DH and a D dog to look after

Tessiebear · 04/11/2004 10:28

OMG!!!! You know how hard it is for us at the moment to actually fancy any food and how the smell of most things puts us off - just found something that i am loving the smell of ...... Pedigree Chum Complete (dry DOG FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!) cant beleive how much i love the smell - dont worry - i am NOT going to eat any

MissTuesday · 04/11/2004 11:51

don't worry tessiebear, when I was pregnant with ds, I suddenly craved desperately the cornmeal we used to feed the cows on the farm I grew up on! I had to phone my dad and ask him what was in it to try and find a way to feed my craving. I ended up going for dry oatbran, straight out of the packet. DH thought I'd going quite mad but I would honestly start salivating walking up the road to our flat just thinking about it. The second ds was born though I couldn't quite imagine how anyone could eat that stuff dry, its like eating a handful of sand! ah well.
I had a bit of a breakthrough today and managed to drink a skim milk hot chocolate without feeling like I was going to throw up. Maybe............ the end of this wretchedness is in sight...???!
Having said that though, poor dh comes home everynight and say's how about this? 'no way, couldn't stomach that' ok what about that? mmm nope, sorry. and on and on we go. Usually he ends up making me an egg. I made the curry mistake last friday night too though and was up half the night soooooo regretting it.
