@ShiningStarz ive ordered a few clothes but only a handful!

ChipsAreLife · 29/04/2020 18:52

@emma278 that's good news. Make sure you call midwives if unhappy though.

@chanel05 congrats!!! Brill news.

@LatteLover12 yes I wondered too. I get they needed to get a handle on things but now they really should be trying to see people when they can. I just don't know why they didn't check me at my 20 week scan. Makes no sense. My midwife is just a bit laid back for my liking. I know I'm a third time mum but I still want care!

I'm feeling so shattered tonight. Can't get off the bed and need to do bedtime soon 😪

Lorna198 · 29/04/2020 19:00

Glad all is well @Chanel05

Had my scan. All good just baby being awkward as usual 😂 fought the temptation to find out gender. I knew I’d never be able to keep it from hubby if I found out 😂

Hope you feel better soon @emma278

Hope everyone else is keeping ok 💐

sianyflewog · 29/04/2020 19:11

Congrats @Lorna198. Can’t wait for mine to be over tomorrow!

I’ve held off buying anything until after the scan, but want to go mad on the JoJo website. I think I’ve decided on the Babymel changing bag now - have to persuade my husband to buy it now!

emma278 · 29/04/2020 19:19

Its so funny girls my husband wants to go buying mad and im the reserved one. I think i may have to give in now.

Thanks for all the kind words in the rubbish headache. If it is sinus im missinf ibuprofen so much as it usually sorts it so quickly.

Xx

ShiningStarz · 29/04/2020 19:44

The Babymel bags are lovely @sianyflewog and good luck for tomorrow, enjoy it x

Lazydaisydaydream · 30/04/2020 08:31

@LooseyGoosey Ooo I didn't know bambino mio did a changing bag... We used cloth nappies last time and will be again this time.

I switched to just a normal backpack after a while with my son because we had a Caboodle changing bag and it just started really annoying me as I couldn't open or close the zip one handed! And it's amazing how often you need to do that Grin

Lazydaisydaydream · 30/04/2020 08:39

my midwife appointment for today has been cancelled. I haven't actually seen any of the midwives yet Confused starting to wonder whether I'll have met any of them by the time I rock up to the hospital to give birth! I really pushed for the appointment to go ahead as feel like its ridiculous at this point, and she said the hospital should have checked my BP and urine at my scan and if they didn't it's not a good enough reason to have a midwife appointment.

Then last night I got a call asking me to attend a video conference on Friday between my consultant and the specialist who had been reviewing my scans, as he wants to discuss Sad. Feeling very worried and upset about that as after my repeat scan on Thursday had been feeling so positive and had been told no news was good news.... So this definitely doesn't feel like good news.

Feel like all I've done this pregnancy is worry and I'm just feeling really down.

HugeAgeGap · 30/04/2020 09:11

@Lazydaisydaydream so sorry to hear how your feeling. You did have a Consultant app last week didn't you where they said they thought everything was ok so it's a bit confusing about a further appt this week isn't it? I can understandably see why this is worrying you, I would feel the same too. All I can think is that it's a cross checking, dotting the i's type of thing and actually things still remain ok as you were told last week. By Friday, do you mean this is 2moro? So not to long to wait, or do you mean next Friday?

In terms of midwife appts it's so strange how each different NHS trust is doing things differently, I guess on the back of different pressures in each individual area. Mine is continuing to offer face to face appts and last time overly stressed how important this is, but have heard so many being on the phone.

I had a high glucose level at my last appt. Had to drop in another sample a week later but have heard nothing about whether it's clear or not or whether in all the faff when I dropped it off it ever got tested! So what I've done is buy some urine test strips on Amazon and gonna test at home myself. I've got ones with really good reviews so gonna take my own readings in between MW appts to keep an eye on it myself, it might be worth doing similar if you feel ok about reading and interpreting the results and then at least that bit gets checked. BP is more tricky to check yourself, but if your worried about either of those you could speak to a GP, they seem to be more responsive at getting back to you about medical concerns that MW anyway.

Sorry no experience here to help you, but just try to take your mind off things as much as you can, at this point worrying doesn't actually help anything because it's out of your hands so keep reminding yourself that when u catch yourself worrying and just try to hang in there as best you can until you get more answers.

We'll all be thinking of you here and just post any worries and anxieties here as were a good sounding board of support xx

Lazydaisydaydream · 30/04/2020 09:25

@HugeAgeGap thank you Flowers yes I had a follow up scan last week and the sonographer said he thought everything was fine Apart from slightly delated kidneys, then I had a meeting with my consultant who said she was happy with everything but would send all the images to the specialist just as a "double check" and that she'd only get in touch if there were any issues. I'm finding it hard attending these appointments on my own. Even if the hospital would let me bring my DH though we have no-one who we can leave our son with.

Yes appointment is tomorrow, thank god! Not sure I could last a week!!

LooseyGoosey · 30/04/2020 09:35

@MooseWL @Roxy8203 @Lazydaisydaydream It's great to hear others are thinking of using reusables too! I'm quite excited about them, but not sure if that's just a bit naive as it's my first... We've got quite a few second hand from my SiL, so that's helpful too. Happy to show you the bag if it's useful @Lazydaisydaydream.

@ChipsAreLife, wow I imagine it will feel really real once you have your C-section date! Do you get any say in the date you get or is it just allocated?

Glad to hear the scan went well @Chanel05 and that the Dr didn't think there was anything serious going on @emma278, hope the headache clears up soon!

Sorry to hear you're feeling so low @Lazydaisydaydream, that is all really unsettling. Easier said than done I know, but try not to worry about tonight - thank goodness they're picking things up and giving you an appointment straight away regardless. Take care today, and do go easy on yourself.

Lilice · 30/04/2020 09:40

So sorry you have to go through the stress and worry again @Lazydaisydaydream. Hopefully it will all be fine and that's what they want to confirm with you. It's good you dont have to wait too long, and your husband can be by your side this time during the zoom appointment.
When I had my 16 week phone appointment , the midwife told me that from 25 weeks (or 26) all appointments would be in person and face to face.
It's a bit crap they're cancelling yours. Did they cancel it on the day??

emma278 · 30/04/2020 10:04

@Lazydaisydaydream im so sorry you have been left like this. I agree it isnt really good enough. Perhaps your GP would do the checks for you, mine did.

I also bought a home BP off of amazon. It gave the same reading as the one in the GPs.

Xx

ShiningStarz · 30/04/2020 10:05

@Lazydaisydaydream I'm sorry you are going through all this worry.
Regarding the urine and bp, you should be able to get those done at the Gp. I only saw a midwife at my 12 week and then when I went on tues for my 20 week there was no mention of midwife or any checks! I understand it but they should be telling us to go to gp if it's standard stuff.

I'm sure it's hard not to worry but I would take it that as it's a video call that it's likely to be ok. If it was serious they may have asked you to be there in person. I really hope you are ok and you feel more positive tomorrow. Hugs xx

ShiningStarz · 30/04/2020 10:08

My partner and I talked about the reusable nappies and I'm completely clueless!
Can someone give me the run down on

how many you would need
How often wash
Take it you rinse off the poop then put in machine
How long do they take to dry (I read they are a thick material) I don't have a tumble dryer but have a dehumidifier for drying clothes in our spare room.
What happens when you are out? Is it not stinking smelly to have dirty nappies in your changing bag?!

Lol thanks girls x

ChipsAreLife · 30/04/2020 10:33

@Lazydaisydaydream I'm so so sorry. What a frustrating time. Seems so unfair. When did you last have your urine and BP checked? I've been told to go in at 25 weeks because they realised I wouldn't have had mine checked for 20 weeks. I would maybe mention this if that's the case and say you're not happy. I appreciate there is a global health crisis but we should still be entitled to basic care. Midwifes are so blasé sometimes.

Re the consultant, as worrying as it is, it sounds like they're on it and they've looked into it for you rather than leave it and potentially have something happen down the line if that makes sense? At least it's only tomorrow to wait. I will be thinking of you, so so crap for you.

@LooseyGoosey so I'll get given a date in the post this week. But it's potentially going to clash with DD first day of school so I may need to shift things or speak to the school about if we can work something out. I really don't want to miss it. She's an August baby so will be one of the youngest and she's very clingy to me, she'll be very upset if im not there. Agghhh mum guilt!!

@lorna congrats! I'm team yellow too. I'm just holding on for that moment at the birth when they tell you. It's truly magical 🥰

@sianyflewog good luck for today!

Lazydaisydaydream · 30/04/2020 10:48

@ChipsAreLife I've never had my BP or urine checked! Literally haven't seen a midwife this entire pregnancy! I think having been pregnant before I'm very aware of how different the care is this time around.

Sorry I think I described the appointment tomorrow wrong - so I have to go to my consultants office and then the specialist will video call us when we're together. This is to save me travelling to the city where he is based apparently, which is good as Ive barely gone anywhere since all this corona stuff started so definitely prefer to avoid unnecessary travel where possible.

This thread has made me feel better... Hoping that it is just a case of them wanting to go through everything in more detail with me and maybe will want to keep an eye on things during my pregnancy. I just don't want a lot of uncertainty for the next 18 weeks - if the baby has a genetic issue I think I'd rather know now. I guess that's stuff I can ask all about tomorrow.

Planning an afternoon of painting and baking with my toddler to take my mind off it!

sianyflewog · 30/04/2020 10:55

Thank you ladies! 4pm can’t come soon enough.

@Lazydaisydaydream Sorry to hear they’re stressing you out. I remember my husband having a lump in his neck just before we got married, and at every stage of the diagnosis we would be told ‘I don’t think it’s anything - if the next person is concerned they’ll call for you’ and then we’d have the appointment through. It went on and on, he had a biopsy, we were told if the biopsy didn’t show anything we would be told in a letter that there was nothing, if it was something the consultant would call to see us. Sure enough, the letter came and we had an appointment with the consultant to confirm that it was nothing suspect. Long story to say I’m sure that it’s fine, and the specialist and consultant just want to both make sure that you understand everything’s OK. Everything crossed for you my lovely.

LatteLover12 · 30/04/2020 11:33

Sorry you're going through such a stressful time @Lazydaisydaydream I hope you get some answers tomorrow xx

sianyflewog · 30/04/2020 11:39

@emma278 Was thinking about your headache when I was awake last night lol. How much are you drinking? When I was pregnant on H, I was told to drink at least 3 litres per day (I really struggle to drink this much!)

emma278 · 30/04/2020 11:41

@sianyflewog im drinking tonnes of squash. Definitely alot more than pre pregnancy. Im trying to up it more its just the constant weeing driving me mad! Xx

sianyflewog · 30/04/2020 11:47

It’s so hard isn’t it! I feel like I’m constantly drinking. Just made me think when I was so thirsty in the night, dehydration always gives me a headache.

ChipsAreLife · 30/04/2020 13:51

@Lazydaisydaydream I think that's terrible you've not had it checked a all! Please mention tomorrow to the consultant and see what they advise.

ShiningStarz · 30/04/2020 15:02

I drink hot water from boiled kettle, sometimes squeeze in fresh lemon. I find it so much easier drinking hot than cold water!
Hope everyone is ok c
