I'm only 28+5 but am going to pack everything over next fortnight. Didn't pack v early last time but having to order everything online and deliveries taking ages has made me a bit more anxious this time.

APD1981 · 02/04/2020 21:44

Just got home from triage where MW put a trace on my baby. It's heart rate was really high at times but that coincided with it kicking hell out of me! When it calmed for a few seconds, the HR came down to its normal baseline (which is the high end of normal, I'm told). So, she thinks I just have a very active baby as I've always been able to feel it a lot. She thinks I'm not drinking enough, too, and made me have 6 cups of water! The more I drank, the more the HR came down so I will make sure I up my fluids from now on. She was so lovely and made me feel like I'd done the right thing by calling. Glad I did now!

RPPs · 03/04/2020 02:48

@blizy I went in this morning. Bambino was still quiet, DAU advised trying iced water which got no reation so I got myself all worked up. It took the snr MW about 10 attempts to find the heartbeat. I was about to burst when she final found a faint HB. Turns out Bambino was breach and curled up so much it was just hard to get near the heart. It turns out my HR was high and Bambino's baseline was too. Stress I guess. I was asked to go for a walk for 30mins and then come back to have another trace. Everything was fine and I saw the consultant who was really reassuring and said i was right to come in. As this is the 3rd instance of reduced movement, he wants me to have a scan again in 2 weeks. I guess we will have to wait and see if it goes ahead.
BTW incase I have scared anyone, hiccups are not anything to be worried about at all, regardless of how frequent.
At work Im in the final stages of closing some big deals which have been super stressful, so i mailed my management team from hospital to say I had raised HR. I never usually tell them anything but felt they need to step in. They all responded to tell me to take it easy, they got it and turn my phone off. It was so reasurring. I think so long as we keep going they'll happily let us but now they know I'll be slowing down. I don't like to show vulnerability but when I thought there was something wrong with Bambino all I could feel was regret allowing the stress at work to overcome me. Its not worth it. My H took the opportunity to remind me what's more important and encouraged me to start to hand stuff over whether the business is prepared or not. Rude awakening.

UKtoSK · 03/04/2020 09:13

@RPPs that must have been so stressful, I’m so glad everything was ok! It’s good that they’re giving you an extra scan as well. Definitely try to take a step back at work and relax more, times are stressful enough right now anyway.

BabyBird20 · 03/04/2020 10:13

Has anyone else had experience of baby measuring off the charts for head size at 29 weeks? Having major anxiety that there's something wrong following my growth scan on weds! His head is 4 weeks ahead in growth and part of his brain was borderline enlarged too! I'm desperately hoping he's just inherited his dads larger than usual head but it's so hard not to think of the what ifs! Also not sure about birth options if he's already so huge!! Got a consultant appt today to find out more and just dreading going alone!! 😢😢

SearchingTheSkies · 03/04/2020 14:22

@BabyBird20 how did your appointment go? Did you find out any more info? I hope they managed to reassure you. Afraid I've no experience to share as my little one is measuring at the smaller end of normal.

AnonyHB · 03/04/2020 16:37

I’ve no direct experience but I did have a 28 week midwife appointment this week where I measured small (don’t know how as I’m massive) and had to go for a growth scan. Midwife measurement put baby as below 5th centile whereas scan placed baby between 50-95th centile so it shows how inaccurate the tape measurement assessment is! Hope everything went ok @BabyBird20 xx

AmyMaria2 · 03/04/2020 17:18

@BabyBird20 what was your baby's head circumference? I have to have an extra consultant appointment because of my baby's head measurement as well! His was 298 at 30 weeks, it is worrying! Xx

31+1

AnonyHB · 03/04/2020 17:46

Also I agree with you @RPPs when something makes you worry about the baby it puts everything else into perspective!

BabyBird20 · 03/04/2020 18:56

Thank ladies, sadly the appointment wasn't that reassuring today. Baby's head and belly are big and there are two warning flags in other measurements that mean he could have underlying genetic issues, one being the nuchal fold was high at his 12 week scan too. So we have now had blood tests, got a fetal MRI booked for next week and an amniocentesis at 32 weeks!! Fingers crossed all will be fine and he has just inherited his dads massive head but just the idea of it is all scary, specially when hearing all of this alone!! 😢
@AmyMaria2 his head measured 299mm at 29 weeks, apparently4 weeks ahead of where it should be 😬😬
We have a further growth scan at 36 weeks and will be discussing birth plans then, seriously considering an elective c section now. Has anyone done this before? Xx

mrssunshinexxx · 03/04/2020 19:25

Sorry to hear you have had worrying news especially alone it's crap! Did you have the screening done at 12 weeks ? X

mrssunshinexxx · 03/04/2020 19:25

@BabyBird20 forgot to tag you x

AndddddHerewegoagain · 03/04/2020 20:18

@BabyBird20 i had a vaginal birth last time but this time it's looks likely I'll be having a planned c section this time due gestational diabetes and a few other issues. Everyone I have spoken to who has had a c section in the past has said what a relaxing and calm experience it was especially if the first or previous births were stressful.

Also we had a high risk of downs come back but all the tests showed that the baby was fine so hoping its the same for you xx

AndddddHerewegoagain · 03/04/2020 20:19

On the hospital bag note I've packed the babys bag and got eberything ready there but have yet to find the time to pack my bag! Been furloughed and at home with a hyper 3 year old who is so confused about his routine means very little time to myself. Will get it done in the next few days

Rinoa · 03/04/2020 20:36

@RPPs glad u went in! I'm sure they will keep that appointment as you've been there before. Hope all goes well! Thanks for the feedback about hiccups, my bambino's are daily most of the time lol

Zoey92 · 03/04/2020 20:58

Having maaaaajor anxiety!! I have to go to pregnancy assessment unit tomorrow for my Anti-D at 9:45am. Honestly I'm so worried!
Especially knowing cases in Northumberland have gone from 119 to 165 in a few hours (i should really stop off the internet)

28+5

RPPs · 03/04/2020 21:20

@UKtoSK @AnonyHB @Rinoa Thank You. Everyone at work is now very conscious of me over working which is good. Maybe they needed the scare as much as me.
@BabyBird20 didn't you have the blood screening at 12 weeks. We paid for ours and it was reasurring. I hope it all turns out to be the genes.
@Zoey92 i hope I can ressure you. The hospital is quite a sterile environment. Everyone is wearing masks and cloves. There is hand sanitizer everywhere and everyone is using it. Wear a mask if you have one or make one. Sanitize regularly and when you get home strip everything off and pop in the machine then have a shower and wash your hair. Painful but it will make you relax more having done it. Good luck

peetieswie · 03/04/2020 22:02

So paranoid about having pre eclampsia now. I dont know whether I should phone up and just get someone to see me ASAP as I've had a headache and keep getting swollen ankles. Wish I could have had my 28 week appointment and been checked this week but had to reschedule because I had a slight cough. Husband should be self isolating till next Sunday to make it 14 days so not sure they'd be able to come anyway. Just on edge about it all the time. Appointment isn't till next Thursday now. Just tired of pandemic making everything a weigh up and second guess getting things checked. What a crappy time to be pregnant 😕 Obviously not as bad as being old or immune compromised or working for the NHS, so shouldn't really moan. I sent my friends who work for the NHS hampers of food and wine this week to say thank you for their hard work.

peetieswie · 03/04/2020 22:07

Sorry to hear about your appoint @babybird20. My friend's baby was massive off the scale size and head dimension. She had it at 38 weeks vaginally after being induced and is healthy and fine!

BabyBird20 · 03/04/2020 22:21

@RPPs @mrssunshinexxx I did have the harmony tests at 12 weeks because we were high risk for Downs. It came back at 1:10,000 so low risk but apparently this can be a different genetic anomaly that those tests don't pick up 😬😬

I'm feeling a bit calmer as know realistically it is most likely to be an inherited thing from his dad, but just got to keep fingers crossed that the tests don't show anything!

@peetieswie that's good to know, I think it'll probably be a case of getting induced if he doesn't come on time or possibly early, or having the elective c section but won't know more about those options til 36 weeks! PS of you are worrying about that you should ring the midwives as they will advise you!! Xx

BabyBird20 · 03/04/2020 22:24

@zoey92 I know the feeling but honestly I've had to go in to hospital 3 times this week and they couldn't have been nicer and more reassuring. They're only letting in patients, making sure social distancing is possible with chairs far apart in the waiting rooms, hand gel available etc and the staff were all lovely!! I actually felt safe in there and not too scared of the virus, I just made sure I didn't press lift buttons with my hands and used gel/washed my hands after touching door handles!! Xx

Blizy · 03/04/2020 22:47

@BabyBird20 sorry to hear this, I have everything crossed that baby has his dads bug head! As for the elcs I had one in my last pregnancy and I'm having one this time too. Honestly it's nothing to worry about, I actually enjoyed the experience, it was so calm, relaxed and controlled. My ds was born 15 mins from the first cut and then it took another 45 mins to stitch me up. Whilst that was happening I had skin to skin.

AmyMaria2 · 03/04/2020 23:58

@BabyBird20 ah okay, so about a week ahead of my baby, they haven't said that it could be a genetic issue or anything to me, just that I'll have to look at birth options nearer the time. Although I'm already having a scan every 10 days, more consultant appointments and maybe an induction anyway so I'm sure they'll pick something up if they notice anything🤷‍♀️
Fingers crossed it's just inherited from dad! X

@Zoey92 I had my anti D a few weeks ago, and I've been in the hospital loads recently it is so scary but the maternity units are the safest place in the hospitals at the moment! X

RPPs · 04/04/2020 02:54

@peetieswie Im actually reassured that the hospital has asked you to stay at home with a cough and a H isolating.
In the last 24 hrs my ankles have begun to swell. They are proper chunky. And I also had a splitting head until I downed a pint of water. Wished Id thought of it earlier. Try elevating your feet. Not the easiest thing to do I know.

mrssunshinexxx · 04/04/2020 07:41

@Blizy have you got any further with being booked back In for a scan? X
