Ok folks here is the new thread. I have put it into ante natal again for now, we can always start a new one in the post natal forum once we have all popped.

:D Could have used that for a thread title.... Once you pop you just can't stop

kinki · 18/09/2007 20:35

Tink, I use seretide too. That's the one they want to swap, I wish I remember the name of the new one they were talking about. Apparently its one of those powder ones. Also there is a tablet they were wondering about. Again I forgot the name, but it should all be on the gp's letter when I get a copy.

Good tips, thank you Mrs M. I'm slowly gearing myself up for a major spring clean now, but I'll do it in a measured way, I won't go too mad. I'm not to upset about it all tbh, because I have something to work on to see if I get an improvement. It's when I'm helpless, that I feel so - well - helpless, iyswim.

emalushka · 19/09/2007 01:34

Hello all,
Just to let you know that baby Beth was born at 4.16 on Friday 14th September. Birth was fine - am really well and so is Beth. Just trying to cope with lack of sleep! It's worth it though - she's gorgeous.

Probably won't have time to log on again for a while, so good luck to everyone. xx

Hopeitwontbebig · 19/09/2007 07:43

congrats Emalushka on the birth of Beth x x x x

PMSL mrsmar about farting. I officially no longer need peppermint. My farts reached heights I never thought possible yest evening, needless to say my shoulders don't hurt now! In fact I (touch wood) seem to be recovering really well fom cs, not too much pain at all.

kinki, sorry to hear yyour asthma is playing up . Is there any way you could express and freeze some milk then have some steroid treatment? Make sure you look after yourself.

Hugs to all x x x x

kinki · 19/09/2007 10:11

Congratulations Emulushka and little Beth!

Thanks all for your kind words about my asthma, I didn't mean to sound like it's any worse, it was only a follow up appointment I had yesterday and results of some tests. Hopey I've been on steroids since March. Thankfully there is no (or little proven) side affects for unborn babies and breastfeeding. It was always explained to me that he would have been more at risk if I didn't take them as my oxygen sats were low. (Mind you Liam is very strong and I wonder if they have enhanced his muscle tone, he seems so much more stronger and agile than my other 2 were.) They want to see me again in a couple of months when my body has had more time to re-establish equilibrium after the birth.

I'm off to the supermarket now, my first time with a wee babe and a fiesty 2yo. Wish me luck!

Have we heard from Kyala in a few days? I wonder if her day has come. Good luck if it has.

MrsBumblebee · 19/09/2007 11:51

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Tink!! My MW said that the only two DIY things that really work to bring on labour are sex and curry, so I'm planning to have plenty of both over the weekend .

Kinki, sorry to hear about your asthma. One more tip on the dust mites thing is to always wash your bedlinen at 60 degrees plus, as that's supposed to kill them (I have a mild allergy to the little buggers as well). It's also best to go for wooden floors rather than carpets, especially where you sleep, but that might be a bit more radical!

Congratulations to Rosie and Emalushka! Two more lovely names to add to our list. I can't believe we don't have any Chardonnays yet .

kelmcd · 19/09/2007 13:35

Good Afternoon ladies, bumps and babies :O
Just thought i'd log on to see what was happening but it seems people are busy with their babies and bumps, thread very quiet!!
Arben and I are getting on well, i think still get very emotional at times, esp when he is crying and we just dont know why Are others still hormonal, i thought it would have settled by now!
Also any tips on how to teach a 12 day old baby the difference between night and day?? during the day he feeds, settles and sleeps - at night he feeds, crys and just wont settle, it is really getting to me, find it very upsetting Thankfully dh is on hand to tell me how well i am doing and take over for while to let me sleep off my sobs BUT i love being a mum and especially my cuddles from DS and DH
Hope everyone else is getting on well and sorry for moan.
Take care
Kelmcd and Arben xx

kyala · 19/09/2007 13:39

Hi all
Congratulations to those who have had, yet more, babies in the past couple of days!

Sorry I don't have a lot of time today (or yesterday or the day bfore!!) DD has been rather demanding lately, very huggy and just wanting to look at my face so every time I get on the computer she's there, on my lap, turning my head asking me funny little babbley questions LOL

Anywho, she's in bed (but not for long I guarantee) so thought I'd just let you all know that, yup that's right, I'm still here and very much pregnant!!

Glad the rest of you seem to be coming along nicely though, and you haven't forgotten about us still waddling round with our bumps

Hahaa DD's awake (told you!) so I'm off again, maybe I'll get a bit of time later tonight (amongst making dinner and loading the dishwasher, DH's decided to get baby brain on me again! It's all this uneasiness from LO I reckon, he's very on edge and can't think straight atm!)

Anywho, later
xxxxxxx
41 weeks today (darn it!!)

dal21 · 19/09/2007 14:37

Hi Kelm

Re the settling at night - have you tried a dummy? My LO has just had a screaming fit, would not settle despite trying everything - 2 mins with the dummy. asleep. dummy out. may not work next time, but I will take the one occasion it has and be grateful.

Re the daytime/ nighttime thing - how often is LO feeding during the day? Is it worth trying to get more feeds into him during the day. Also - when he is settling after a feed during the day - have you tried waking him for some activity time (either via nappy change/ changing clothes?)
Sorry if these dont help/ are really obvious, but are just what I have been trying to do with Ryan.

Hello to everyone else!

kinki · 19/09/2007 15:12

Kelm, I agree with everything dal says. But remember it is still very early days. Ds1 was 2 months and ds2 was 3 months old before they settled properly at night. Liam is very unsettled in the evening and I'm beginning to wonder if he's going to be colicky like ds1 was. The discomfort they feel is typically seen in the evening times, so if Arben is unsettled then that may be a possibility. Try not to let it get to you, easier said than done I know. It's bound to be nothing you are or aren't doing. Babies cry because that's all they can do. Just keep going through the checklist of things to check, hungary, wet, pooey, cold etc.

toadstool · 19/09/2007 15:54

Hello to all expecting and no longer expecting! I'll catch up at some point soon(3AM?).
Quick announcement: JOSEPHINE FLORA was born in a completely straightforward, short labour on Monday, 4.45AM (contractions started with a bang at midnight, got to hospital at 3.30, tried one blast of gas and air, retched, gave up on medication, and delivered without any pain relief in 15 mns after the membranes went) OUCH!!!!!!!!!!
But it was all OK. Good old Mother Nature doing her job for once.
She's very lovely, 6lbs 10oz, feeding very well, and strangely chilled-out. Hope that lasts!
The leg, after all the doom and gloom, we just popped underneath me and I delivered with it as my semi-recumbent support. No need for birthing stool or other things, although we did use stirrups (a couple of 2nd degree tears thanks to Mlle Josephine popping out with one hand near her mouth).
Right, off to do the mother stuff, enjoy the babies, I'm sure there's been plenty of new arrivals this week!

hayley2u · 19/09/2007 16:12

hi everyone hope all is well. well my daughter was born on the 12th september a week ago taday at 3.43pm. she was not the ten pounder they told me she was was only 7 pound 13, got chubby cheeksthough . we called her lucy erin, and she s perfect and so good.ust recovering from my c section now but otherwise doing great

amyclaramum · 19/09/2007 16:26

Congratulations Toadstool and Hayley - well done and welcome to the world Josephine and Lucy - gorgeous names !!

Re settling baby I have tried dummy too and it works ! Never had one with the other DD'S! The night/day thing is very hard but they do get the hang of it . Apart from what the others have advised make sure you are really quiet at night, keep lights off etc and much more lively and chatty in daytime. Also I have been swaddling Eloise at night and it seems to help her stay asleep when I put her in the crib.

love to those still waiting to go !

MMooMar · 19/09/2007 16:33

Hi Ladies, babies and ever increasing bumps!

Hope everyone is well.

xxxxxxxxx Congrats to all the new mummies and birth day hugs and kisses to all the new babes XXXXXXXXX

Hope everyone is enjoying there new babes,I for one am ,starry eyed I can honestly say,and have to agree with MrsMar would do it again at the drop of a hat .....but dont tell DP .....yet!

Still no name for my little man and I have brought a book with 40,001 names in it and still nothing.Havent got any list let alone a short list. Now have less than 5 weeks to sort one out ....better get on with it!

LO is still guzzling I think I have 5 mins to do something and he starts up again ,but its better than having to syringe feed like with DS1.Boobs are still MAAASSIVVEEE!!! just loads of milk been like it since about day 3 ,filling the freezer fast and I dont remember the breastmilk freezer bags being so expensive either.Using boots own 40 for about 8 quid anyone know if anywhere else do them cheaper?

CS scar is healing real nice and is very ,very neat.no stitches to take out here either and a male doc( MMooMar salutes fab doc)Tummy disappearing by the day, tried on pre preg jeans yesterday, can get them on but need to lose about another 1 and half inches to beable to do them up!

Didnt meantion that DP sat and watched the whole of the section, the one doc told him to turn more towards me but DP is a big bloke and could still see and I am only five foot nothing so his head was not that far from my bottom half anyway. Doc saw him watching and asked if he was ok and DP said it was like watching a Discovery programme!I think doc must have thought he was very odd and left him too it.DP saw them cut me open and all the blood rush out, watched them lift my little man out by the feet, saw them washing and vacuuming me out and being stitched up! perhaps the doc was right, perhaps he is odd but he did cry when LO started to yell.I started to cry as soon as I was told it was a lad. Then cried big time..like a baby when I had skin to skin with him for the first time and even set one of the midwives off.

Anyway little man is wanting a feed again so I will love and leave you all ,I`m off to go all gooey again.

Good luck to all with any pain and I mean that in the nicest( labour ) way.

love to all ....and keep em coming ladies.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

HammerHeadShark · 19/09/2007 17:25

Hello ladies and little ones!

We came back home last night and it is wonderful to be home with little Millie. The hospital staff were not keen to let me go after just one night post c/section but they were run off their feet and not able to be around much as I discovered on the first night when there was no-one to help me with lifting Millie, sorting out my pillows, getting my painkillers on time (owwww!) so I politely pointed out that I had people who could actually care for me and help me at home and legged it

She is such a good girl and seems to be feeding well so far. Me and DH are really enjoying her in a way we didn't feel we did with the twins when we were shell shocked and rushing around like nutters!

One of the DTs is fab and loves Millie and wants to hold her and kiss her and get her lego but the other one is a bit jealous and won't come near her or cuddle her so I am trying to make a real effort to put Millie down and spend lots of quality "big girl" time with her and extra cuddles.

Congrats to Rosie, emmalushka, hayley and toadstool on your new babies.

Hope the rest of you are birthing as we speak - canadian mum? Kyala? Mrs Bumblebee?

Take care x x

kinki · 19/09/2007 18:51

Ok, I've had a go at updating this list. I think I've added about 10 new babies. Massive massive apologies if I've got any details wrong or if I've missed anyone out.

So there are 34 babies so far, and we are only just over half way through the month! And I make that 18 girls and 15 boys. Sorry ECATLM, we don't seem to have details of your baby. To date, sizes range from 5lb 1oz to 10lb 10oz. I don't think we've had many very overdue babies (yet!), please correct me if I'm wrong. There were a couple of babies born about 4 weeks early.

All of the babies have gorgeous names. But that's obvious because all their mummies have such refined, impeccable taste . Most popular name choices so far are Kate/Katie for the girls and Ryan for the boys. Beautiful names.

So that's half the group, I'm looking forward to reading all about the other babies that are due soon. Good luck everyone.

Oh forgot to say, good luck for tomorrow Holly.

lou031205 · 19/09/2007 19:11

Hi!

Congratulations everyone. Millie is a cool name (I am biased as my 21 month old is called Millicent - so Millie).

Kelmc, my DD Millie didn't sleep at night at all for the first few weeks. Nothing changed it.

But I have found that with Jasmine, putting a hot water bottle in her bed under her blankets while I feed her helps. It means that she goes back into a lovely warm bed after being nice and warm when she is feeding. I think it can be a bit of a shock to them to have nice warm cuddly feeding then return to a cold bed.

sophus · 19/09/2007 20:54

hi all
Another quick note to say we're home. Came home yesterday afternoon. Linus is doing brilliantly, feeding like a champion and very contented so far. Sure it will all change once he's realised he's got me wrapped around his little finger and i would do anything for him.
I am completely overwhelmed by the experience of being a mother. It is just the most satisfying and awe inspiring sensation. Burst into tears today at thought of anything happening to me and not being around for him, and then i can look at him and just laugh at his gorgeousness.

Lots of love to new arrivals and luck to those still waiting.

Chattyhan · 19/09/2007 21:36

Congratulations Sophus - i love the name Linus never heard it before but i love it!

Congrats also to toadstool, HIWBB (glad she wasn't big)! And anyone else who deserves it!

Alex and i are doing well but only got 1 hrs sleep last night! Never mind - he's worth it fingers crossed we do better tonight

ccpink · 20/09/2007 04:45

Congrat's Toadstool and Hayley - like Mrs Fish I definitely want a Hayley labour
As you can tell by the time I'm not sleeping. Cramp in leg and feel a bit sick! How much longer...It's great to hear everyone so loved up - just wish I was too.
cc

MrsBumblebee · 20/09/2007 10:50

Congratulations Toadstool and Hayley!! Toadstool, at your labour, and glad the leg came in useful . Hayley, hope your recovery is going well.

Well, this is my last day mooching about the house on my own before LO arrives (stuff going on tomorrow, then w/end, then induction on Monday night if nothing's happened). I probably should be spending it indulging myself, but have instead decided to sort through all my winter clothes, now that the weather's getting chillier . Though how soon I'll be able to get into them again, god knows . Still nothing doing on the labour front. Had quite a lot of period-pain-type aching last night, but seems to have come to nothing - symptomless again this morning.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Kinki, very impressed that you've found time to update the list with a three week old baby in tow - respect! CC, hope you're feeling better this morning and managed to get a bit of sleep. Sophus, so lovely to hear how well you're getting on.

41+3

kinki · 20/09/2007 11:03

Mrs B! Liam is the world slowest feeder. So most of the day I'm stuck to the chair waiting for him to finish. I hate not doing anything so I have a browse while he's feeding. So far the amount of time on mn is directly proportional to the amount of time he's on the boob.

When he grows up, Liam will not be a man who rushes his pint, that's for sure.

emj23 · 20/09/2007 18:37

Congratulations to emalushka, toadstool and hayley2u, and big welcomes to Beth, Josephine and Lucy - what lovely names everyone's choosing!

I'm now 38+4 and very fed up with being this huge, so last night I had curry and pineapple and today I tried going for a long walk. I almost bought some raspberry leaf tablets but they were quite expensive and I'm not convinced anything's going to work anyway. I think LO will arrive whenever she feels like it...

Good luck to everyone else and I hope you're all feeling well.

diddle · 20/09/2007 19:16

congrats to all you new moms, and i hope the rest of you are hanging in there, or am i the only one left. Baby diddle is due a week tomorrow and i am getting so impatient, DS1 was 2 weeks late after a failed induction and c-section, so i'm aiming to avoid that happening again.

feeling very hormonal, and if one more person kindly informs me what days they're busy and "could i try not to have the baby that day" i'm going to scream!!!!!!!!!!!!!
