Ok folks here is the new thread. I have put it into ante natal again for now, we can always start a new one in the post natal forum once we have all popped.

:D Could have used that for a thread title.... Once you pop you just can't stop

You're very wecome Tink, anytime. Hope you get some sleep. I reckon things will seem a whole load clearer for you in the morning.

Thinking of you too Edie. Hope little dd doesn't have you out roaming the streets in the middle of the night again.

Mrs F, Tink's right, its 42 days.

EdieMcredie · 17/09/2007 22:49

Ive posted on other thread Kinki-good news!

HammerHeadShark · 17/09/2007 23:43

Evening all. Millie Francesca born today by very calm and lovely c/section. 7lb 1oz. totally yummy! her big sisters love her and we are forming a girl band . feeling fab and enjoying my one on one with my tiny girl tonight. patientline slow so will stop now. take care all

ccpink · 18/09/2007 08:29

Congrat's to all new mummies!!!So many I can't remeber names - I've still got pregnant befuddled brain unlike most of you lot

mrs fish - I decided to do some madness yesterday too and painted the bathroom ceiling - just could not resist!!!! Still no sign though - a few twinges the last two nights but seems very happy inside!!!

tink -a friend from my ante has topped up with formula through a syringe so baby doesn't get used to bottle?! Just a thought.

dal - I hope you feel better about the rooming issue - I know someone who put moses basket inside crib as couldn't rest with bay in their room - I thought this sounded like a good solution as most bedrooms quite close together anyway. Hope you get on alright without mum.

kinki - glad you haven't abandonned us

39 weeks today!!!!

MrsBumblebee · 18/09/2007 09:36

Congratulations Hammer! Another Millie - such a lovely name. Hope you're recovering well.

Canadianmum - hope things are happening for you!

MrsF - not sure how I'd have reacted to your MIL. Lovely to have someone offering to do jobs for you, but equally if my MIL had said she'd 'noticed' my windows needed cleaning, I think I would have slapped her! (But then, my windows always need cleaning - I hate cleaning windows and am rubbish at it.)

Re registering names, someone told me that you also have six months to change your LO's name if you suddenly think you've made a terrible mistake, without going through the whole deed poll process. No idea if this is true or not.

Well, I'm off for possible sweep this afternoon. I think I've decided to ask MW to do an internal first to see how 'favourable' my cervix is, and then tell her not to bother with sweep yet if I'm nowhere near ready to give birth. Hopefully might avoid excruciating pain that way, and I can always book another date to have a sweep before 42 weeks arrives. I will report back later!

41+1

MrsFish · 18/09/2007 10:32

Congratulations Hammer and Millie Francesca, you sound wonderfully content

Thanks for the info regarding registering lo, I couldn't remember how long you had

Good luck for this afternoon Mrsbumblebee

Tinkjon - hope the stitches removal go ok today

Congratulations Hammerheadshark and welcome to baby Millie.

Good luck MrsBumblebee, hope all goes well at your appointment.

I am an emotional mess today. Me and DS both cried this morning when I took him to school, I can hardly walk, my feet are enormously swollen and I have a cold. That's better. Just needed to complain a bit.

Rin23 · 18/09/2007 11:54

Hi all
Congrats to new mums, it's all happening!

No news with me, due on Friday and starting to feel I am ready... so hoping baby's not gonna be 2 weeks late.

Mrs Bumblebee - do let us know how you get on with sweep/ not sweep, I have a feeling I might be in same position next week.

Registered with new doc who were worried my blood pressure was high this morning... but no other symptoms of pre ecl. so assuming just a blip. fingers crossed!

hope everyone else is well and progressing nicely...

Rin23 · 18/09/2007 11:55

by the way, emj - sorry to hear you're feeling so crap. Have you some time now to put your feet up? You need to take it easy if you can (sorry if that's stating the obvious). ((hugs))

MrsMar · 18/09/2007 12:00

hi all, no capital letters from me again today as i only havr one free hand, the other one is holding luca... i just can't seem to put him down, he's sooooooo cute!!!!

congratulations hammer! millie is a great name, my niece is called millie

emj - sorry to hear you're feeling so rough, i hope you feel better soon, you know the drill, feet up if you can and take it easy

tink - i hope having your stitches out today wasn't too awful, i was dreading it too, after four days of needles and other horribles (morphine injections, heparin injections, catheters, where does it all end?) i couldn't face having more horrible things, but when the midwife came yesterday she told me I don't have any external stitches... some steristrips but no external stitches. don't ask me how that works, but it's amazing, it's all held together with internal dissolvable ones.... i love my surgeon!! she did such a great job! Kinki - maybe i just got lucky!

by the way, i know what you mean about not wanting to leave here yet kinki... feels very odd. i'll tell you another odd thing i didn't think i'd feel..... i reeeeeeeaaaally want to be pregnant again. that's madness isn't it? i think it's because so far i've had a really easy ride... he's such an angel, but also, and this is totally crazy because only 6 days ago i was desperate to not have a bump and be in so much pain, i'm missing not being pregnant. i am mad aren't i??? or is that just called hormones???

mrsb - good luck with the sweep, sending you favourable cervix vibes!! LOL! I thought the six months to change your mind about names thing was only in austrialia, but i could be wrong. we're going to have to take our full 6 weeks cos we're totally stumped for middle names!

ok, smug mum alert!! just had to tell someone, last night luca slept from 11.30 until 5.30. he didn't even cry at 5.30, i leaned over to check on him thinking "christ i haven't heard a peek for 6 hours!!!" and there he was wide awake and happy as can be. i gave him a feed until about 6.30, all cosy and tucked up in bed with us, and then we both slept again until 10.30!!! surely i can't be this lucky! my sister keeps giving me dire warnings it'll all end soon.

anyway i'm off to gaze at my beautiful boy again aren't baby sneezes the cutest thing ever?? will i ever come down from this hormonal high??? i hope not

have a lovely day everyone, i hope those still waiting get some action soon and good luck for those with things already moving!

take care (mrsmar and luca)xxx

Tinkjon · 18/09/2007 13:11

Hammer, congratulations to you too - Love that name! And LOL about forming a girl band I am loving having a boy but I can't help feeling a little disappointed that DD won't have a sister - I really wanted her to have one. But then it's nice for me to experience both genders.

Stitches coming out were a piece of cake [mmm, cake]. I am such a wimp, it's pathetic - it took literally about 4 seconds and I had almost no idea she'd done it

Well it looks like I have an excuse to use formula now - the mw came round today and Will has lost too much weight so she really wanted me to top him up with formukla and said that she might have to admit him to SCBU if I wasn't prepared to top up. I know BF babies are expected to lose weight more than FF babies but my mummy instinct really did tell me that he wasn't getting enough milk from me, despite feeding almost 24 hours a day...

Sorry for those of you who are feeling down - FWIW I think baby blues can pass fairly quickly. I spent the whole time since I got home on Saturday crying, but today things seem a whole lot brighter, so fingers crossed that you all feel better soon.

dal21 · 18/09/2007 13:24

Hi everyone - congrats hammer on millies arrival!

MrsM - enjoy the hormone high. you sound on fab form, so am sure that it will continue! You are not mad at all re. the pregnancy thing. Not sure I am ready to be pregnant again (that will take a while I am sure!) but I have already forgotten how uncomfy I was starting to feel towards the end...and I dont even think I had it that bad TBH.

CCPink - mum has just headed off, coincided with MW visit so was pretty good otherwise would have been tears no doubt.
I am feeling really well rested and heaps better today - so am ready to settle into normal life with DH's help over the next few weeks. Having my mum with us was just what i needed, but is time to get on without her as an emotional crutch.

EmJ - Hope you feel better soon.

Tink - are you feeling ok after the MW visit?

Sorry if havent responded to all the posts, am kinda rushing through.

The midwife visit went well - Ryan has gained another 3 oz approx, so I am very happy. She also told me about a Bfeeding cafe they run in Belsize on Thurs mornings, so may have DH run me over on Thurs and get socialising!

Take care everyone!

Tinkjon · 18/09/2007 13:31

Glad you are feeling better, Dal. I know what you mean about using your mum as an emotional crutch - I think I'm going to be doing that next week Yay to little Ryan on putting on
3 oz - and well done, you!

MrsMar, you are indeed insane to miss being pregnant Seriously though, a lot of my friends felt like that, so I think it's entirely normal - I just can't imagine feeling like that myself... I hated, hated, HATED being pregnant. I want my body back and my brain back, thank you very much!!! It's a good job that babies are so cute, huh?

Tinkjon · 18/09/2007 13:33

Dal, thanks, yes I' feeling a lot better after mw visit. She was really nice and very reassuring... made me feel a lot better about my decisions. She said that all they want to see is a baby who is being fed as much as he needs, regardless of what method that is, and to have a healthy baby and a happy mummy. So I feel heaps better - I didn't even cry this morning

Chattyhan · 18/09/2007 13:59

Hello everyone - Congratulations hammerheadshark on the arrival of Millie xx

Mrs Mar so nice to read your post i'm glad you're doing so well

Mrs Bumbebee - hope your appointment went ok?

To those of you waiting for your babies - hope you're all ok and get the births you want when you want them!

Well Alex is crying! xx

dal21 · 18/09/2007 14:30

Tink - am so happy that she was so supportive and that you feel a lot happier. I totally agree with her - and hope you stop beating yourself up over this.

Hopeitwontbebig · 18/09/2007 15:02

hi all! On patientline so cant write toomuch! Congrats Hammer welcome Millie

Niamh is SO UTTERLY BEAUTIFUL, am so happy. Was a v surreal experience yesterday. Mrsmar your description was SPOT ON!

jUST been having a chat with midwife about BF after section and whilst taking peppermint water foor this awful trapped wind in my shoulders! I was getting a fair few drops of colostrum yesterday. I put on some Lansinoh cream and afterwards Niamh got v upset and kept rejctingg me, seems she doesnt like the taste. BUT today I'm getting no drops of colostrum . Been giving her formula. I seem to remember reading on here that peppermint can reduce milk flow??? Help! Advice needed.

Good luck to those who haven't popped yet, thinking of you. x x

Hugs to all from me and LITTLE Niamh x x

amyclaramum · 18/09/2007 16:19

hiwbb - yes it was me drinking lots of peppermint tea and Dal looked up that actually it can inhibit milk production !

Tink - so glad you are feeling better and MW so helpful !

MRSmar - you sound very loved up ! Luca is sooo cute on your pic and you look remarkably chilled too !BTW I am amazed at those of you who can type on those patientline thingys - mine was so crap it took 5 minutes to type each letter and then crashed and I lost my TV too so I had to get my sister to post for me !!

love to everyone xx

MrsBumblebee · 18/09/2007 16:33

Well, just got back from MW. After all the fretting, she couldn't do the sweep anyway - cervix too far back and hidden behind LO's head. Turns out my fanjo-rummaging was correct after all - I suspected she might have trouble reaching . I'm now booked in for induction on Tuesday at 42+1 - they wanted to do it the day before, but they're fully booked . So I'm booked in for a scan on Monday to check everything's ok (seems a bit mad as I'll be going in on Monday night anyway, but apparently a scan is their protocol as soon as you hit 42 weeks). She also said I could go up to hospital over the weekend to try another sweep if nothing's happened by then, as long as they can fit me in - so I might do that. Not sure how I feel about the sweep not happening today - sort of relieved to miss out on the possible pain, but also a bit of an anticlimax.

One good thing - she said that from what she could feel, my cervix is already quite soft, so things might start to happen naturally - but to be honest she didn't sound hugely convinced... Though I think she probably doesn't have any way of knowing, to be honest.

Sorry about the me post - hope everyone else is doing well.

kinki · 18/09/2007 17:45

Hi all, hope everyone is well.

Mrs M you sound very happy. Everything sounds like its going great, long may that continue for you, especially the night time part. Ignore your sister, she's just jealous and so am I! I also had a day or 2 when I thought I'd like another baby really soon, but that thought soon (thankfully) passed.

Tink, glad the stitches coming out was ok, I've only ever had dissolveable ones. I'm glad you were able to make your decision today, and it sounds like it is the right decision for the right reasons. See, you are a great mum, because you knew all along that Will wasn't getting quite enough. Glad the days are getting brighter for you. Oh and about dd having a sister - dare I say you could always have another one

Emj, did your day get any better for you. Sorry things weren't so great this morning, hopefully things picked up a bit. Things were a bit emotional and shouty in our house prior to the school run this morning too. If you can, try to sit with your feet up to help the swelling, but I know, its easier said than done.

Hopey, Niamh sounds beautiful. I'm afraid I don't know about peppermint water/tea. I bought some but never used it because I didn't much like it. We've been chatting on various threads about how a tiny bit of colostrum goes a very long way for these lo's. And there are a lot of us here who have used formula top-ups in the early days. And for several babies it doesn't seem to effect them eventually bfing. But the thing we most agree on is the 'happy mum = happy baby' thing.

Congratulations to Hammer and welcome Millie. I like the idea of your girl band! But what does the girls' daddy think of that?!?

Mrs B, what a shame everything is undecided for you. You never know, things might just happen on their own. And yes you were right about your fanjo . Seems by far you have the most interesting fanjo, with an elusive cervix to boot! I think mine's dead boring in comparison.

Rin, my blood pressure was high today too. But a couple of weeks ago they were concerned it was too low. Hopefully as you say, it was just a tempory blip.

ACmum, hows little Eloise?

Well my news is that I've been at the hospital most of the day, being followed up about my asthma/breathing problems. I've not had my miraculous recovery that I'd hoped for yet so they are going to carry on monitoring me. They asked me to consider when I want to give up bfing so I can start using a new sort of inhaler which would mean I could stop taking steroids. (This new inhaler isn't compatible with bfing). It's not something I want to think about just yet. I also found out some results of some allergy testing they did. Turns out I'm very allergic to cats (knew that), quite allergic to dogs (can live with that) allergic to a tree mould (not surprised about that) but surprised to see I'm very allergic to 'house dust mites'. Yuk. They suggested I get rid of all carpets, and buy new mattress, pillows etc. Guess I'll have to be getting the hoover out a bit more often! Oh well. But at least there's something to work on I suppose. Btw, I took Liam to the hospital with me and also saw my colleagues. They all gushed over him, and it made me feel so proud him. And proud of me too .

amyclaramum · 18/09/2007 18:02

Kinki - thanks for asking about Eloise - she was weighed yesterday and is now 8lbs -only 5oz off her birthweight. The MW who came yesterday was very helpful and encouraging and told me to eat more unhealthily !! Anyway I looked at Amy's weight chart and she took 4 weeks to get back to bw too so I guess its the norm for my babies ! Feeling alot calmer about it all now ! Sorry to hear about your asthma but glad you had a chance to show off your lovely little Liam !!

Rosie2404 · 18/09/2007 18:44

Hi all
Congratulations to everyone whose had their little ones hope you are all doing well. Hope those of you who are still waiting are not getting too many aches and pains.

I had my little one on Friday at 16.43 - he weighed 7lb 7 1/2 oz and we have called him Ryan Desmond (Desmond after my grandad). Am very happy but very tired....

Will try to catch up on all the posts tomorrow

Tinkjon · 18/09/2007 18:45

Mrs Bumblebee, I have a feeling - I bet you pop before Monday and the induction isn't needed. Fingers crossed for you!

Kinki, what a shame about your asthma and the bf-ing problem. What inhaler do you use at the moment? I use Seretide... as for us having another. Let me just say this: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA NO.

Hope, I couldn't get Patientline to work very well either - could read but couldn't write. We had an awful thing at our hosp where they don't let you sleep with your baby in the bed. Being cudddled by me was the only way that Will would sleep there so it meant that I had to stay awake the whole night - ludicrous!!! Although the last night I thought "bugger this" and just closed the curtains around me and laid him on my chest so if they came in to check I said I was BFing him (which I actually was most of the night anyway!)

MrsMar · 18/09/2007 19:15

Hi Tinkjon - i'm glad the stitches came out easily. As for the ff thing, the absolute most important thing is your baby gets the best thing, and if he's not putting on enough weight then ff is absolutely the right thing, it sounds like you've got a great and supportive mw, i totally agree with her (get me, a mum for five days and i'm an expert! )

I'm sure I am mad to want to be pg again, I'm sure it'll fade soon. Must just be hormonal craziness!

Kinki - sorry to hear about your ongoing asthma problems, my mum used to put my pillows in the freezer every now and then cos i'm allergic to house dust mites. I'm not so good at doing it now, but my symptoms aren't so bad. It apparently kills all the house dust mites, then you can take them to the dry cleaners and they're as good as new. I also use allergy covers on the pillows, mattress and duvet and take the duvet to the laundry every 6 months or so. It's a faff, but it has made a difference.

HIWBB - I thought luca didn't like the taste of lansinoh either, but I've only used it a couple of days to get me through the worst of the cracking bits (ouch!) cos I'm sure he screwed up his face whenever I fed him after I'd used it. I had heard the same thing about peppermint tea too, but I didn't take anything cos I've never had problems farting ()

oops luca's hungry again (will he ever stop eating??) better go... take care xx
